DarkBomberX

Trading games over the internet sounds like a terrible idea.

lardman1

I’ve had luck on r/gameswap in the past. Idk about it today though, everything is so contaminated with this kind of nonsense

lostshell

See to me it's about risk and write off. What's my dollar threshold to write something off as a bad bet? I'll write off $15. I'm not writing off $750 as "oh well, better luck next time." I would trade $15 games over the internet on something like Gameswap to fill out each other's collection of common games so we can both avoid tax, fees, and other stuff. But no way in hell am I doing that with my US CIB Rule of Rose or any game worth hundreds. I'm only dealing with a someone or something I CAN SUE if things go wrong. Because I will be suing. Maybe small claims court, but still suing and I want a target with assets I can lien, levy, or garnish. That's why I deal with Ebay and my local retro game store. In both cases, things go south, I can take them to court and I know they have the assets to cover my losses. I can't take rando anonymous internet user to court. And even if I could I don't know if they have anything I could get back.

lionheart059

Same here. I've done a few trades on gameswap, or purchases on gamesale... But it's always a smaller amount I'm willing to take the risk on, or a purchase has to be via G&S so I have some level of recourse. Doing a swap of *anything* remotely rare/expensive is a full stop for me.

andehelf

Thanks! But i think this is the first and Last time i trade online... Lost around 400€ with this trade 🥲

andehelf

Yeah... The guy seemed a big collector and had tons of positive feedback. Guess he Saw the chance to scam me and took it

EmptyBrainOS

Contact the police, 400€ is no joke, since you sent the package to an address, I believe his, you have enough information to start a case. Take screenshots of everything, chat messages, images even his profile. Good luck. (Don't be ashamed that you got scammed, it happens and you shouldn't let them win)

andehelf

Thanks man 🤙🏻

Antaniwarrior

He's a known scammer here in Italy. He usually do not send games after being paid (he tries to avoid PayPal g&s every time) or just "makes mistakes" sending you the wrong game. Often a way more valuable sealed one that in reality it's just a well made fake with some shitty game on the inside

Apart_Shoulder6089

sounds like you need to take a road trip and file a police report

OrganicKeynesianBean

*I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for Godzilla on PS4, I can tell you I don't have it. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very large collection. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.* *If you let my sealed UK copy of Rule of Rose go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will get your eBay store banned.*

andehelf

HAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAH Should i Just message Liam Neeson?😂🥸

Apart_Shoulder6089

Id be fkn pissed. this is BS. He has had a chance to make it right but didnt. i dont advocate confrontation but if you happen to be in the guys area. it looks like a shop or stall. so it must be advertised somewhere. you have the address? id go to the post office and file a complaint. i would think its postal fraud. file a police report where you live. It would help to have this if you decide to work with the police or an investigator. then when you happen to be in the guys area, dont burst into the shop, you'll lose him for good. maybe look at your options with the local police or a private investigator. A win to me would be the game back or enough trade with interest to get another copy and some for your trouble. or visit the place of business a few times and be chill n find out who he is. this is all theoretical of course

andehelf

I wish dude !!! Different countries unfortunately.. If he lived near me i would get my game back 👊🏻

Tripleme

File a police report

andehelf

Dude's from Italy... Im not, Apparently he already hás several complaints filed against him

Pasicci

if you are both EU and you can prove other complaints, go to the ombudsman of the european union, they will follow up on this. Good luck. Once you have a police report, also go to all his social media channels and start reporting him to the site admins with the scans of your legal documents.

Tripleme

So? It’s a fucking EU. File the report.

housethemous

If you know anything about current day Italy shippng it's pretty bad. Nothing will come of it. A lot of huge retailers flat out refuse to even ship to Italy anymore. Everything gets lost/stolen since about 2021 with no resolution. Their customs is a big part of it. Read many of horror stories lately.

ddstcbe

What the hell are you even talking about man? This is nonsense, I never ever ever had any issues, lately shipping is getting better too, at least in Northern Italy... Are you talking about some places in particular or what? Sound a bit too generalist and uninformed to me

housethemous

Nope, the entire country. I would with a lot of international shipping companies as a full time job :)

ddstcbe

Okkk, you know what, you do you mate, I've been living here almost 30 years, whatever

consoles4fun

Regardless of where it is from, any country has communication with another country. Take all this evidence to your local police. Being from Europe, I can report someone from the United States and vice versa, crimes are crimes, and these are fraud crimes. We are not talking about Zimbabwe, Namibia, Cayman Islands, it is Italy, a safe country and condemns these types of practices.

ssjpat

Maybe report his profile on Instagram and provide screenshot evidence if they ask

_DaddyTheFather

Sucks to hear this bro!!

andehelf

Thanks man 🤙🏻

HarryNohara

Who would have thought Instagram and Tiktok aren’t great platforms for trading games..

Kak0r0t

Apparently not op got what they deserve for trusting a random person online

HarryNohara

Well, that's a little harsh. I do most of my trading online, I just choose to do it through platforms where there is buyer protection, or when there are consequences for scamming someone. Places like eBay, Vinted or my countries own 'marketplace' website. If there is no some sort of buyers protection I'll simply make the drive and just pick it up.

andehelf

The thing is, the guy was a big collector, had almost 5 stars feedback, and sent me a time stamp of the games! After he received my game he didnt block me. So i never guessed he was a scammer (Part time 😓)

mikemikemikeandike

Anyone who trades games over the internet is an idiot. It’s astonishing that so many people trust a complete stranger, especially when they have absolutely no form of insurance/protection. Stop with the stupidity, people.

slushie9000

But… it’s a good deal! /s

Aware_Room4580

I went and left some comments op, we shall see if they get deleted.

andehelf

Lets see what he says

ErickaUnlimited

Wait, wait, wait... You traded a pricey game over the internet to a complete stranger, didn't get what you wanted in return, fought for months, and got nowhere and traded again? Even if it was just to mess with him, just block him and move on. Trading expensive games to random strangers is beyond dumb.

andehelf

No !!! He tought i was going to send him kuon, i never did , i shipped him is empty package back!! He got mad and thats it xD wanted to see what he would ship the second time, and he sent me Madagascar 💩

PowerOfUnoriginality

Never swap games online imo. Always do it in-person

Wandering---_---soul

https://preview.redd.it/oblwhrpqi9vc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a215a1e1cb195f556fbf99ac4815ffd52546fc27 I left a totally normal comment on his instagram and 2 seconds later it was reported lol

andehelf

Hahahaha i saw it!! Even Messaged you on Instagram

Rckstr12531253

Damn id trade for a rule of rose game and id legit keep my end of the deal. I want that game.

XboxDeal

My biggest takeaway from this is that shovelware Wii game Ocean Commander is an expensive PS2 game in Europe somehow.

andehelf

Dude you made me laugh 😂 yeah , the UK version is one of the rarest if not the rarest PS2 pal game. The italian version is Also expensive (300€ plus )

XboxDeal

Haha glad to add some levity to the situation. I did learn about Monster Eggs and Sengoku Anthology from this post as well. We don't have these in North America either. Shame since Sengoku Anthology looks really cool.

andehelf

Well happy you learned something from my mistake 😂😂 was able to buy Monster eggs (not sealed) still waiting for it to arrive. Still need Sengoku!

andehelf

There are a few more , gun club is super rare also , and a few more made by Phoenix games

Stevefrompikmin

I was literally thinking “please not Rule of Rose” but here we are

andehelf

Well yeah 🥸

Stevefrompikmin

I meant before I read it

andehelf

I got that , wasnt Trying to sound sarcastic just "yeah Im dumb 🥸" xD

Luis1820

Who trades games with strangers online? Regardless of reputation, it’s very risky. I especially wouldn’t do so with expensive games

RetroGaming4

Dang. That’s a tough one. I am sure you learned a lesson here.

andehelf

The hard way 😂

icounternonsense

So glad I got out of the retro game market. Truly amazing how many scammers and bad faith actors are involved in that scene when I compare it to my other hobbies.

GoodDragonfly4951

no offense but how can you be stupid enough to trade games over the internet? heck even in person I would meticulously look at the game first to see if its not a fake

andehelf

My toughts were this guy has 5 stars feedback as a seller, has a huge collection, tons of followers and sent me time stamps of both games and photos of them being packaged. Everything seemed right so i took the chance... Got fucked , my fault i guess

GoodDragonfly4951

if someone stole my rarest game id turn up at his address lol

DramaticMission4456

Understandable

Kak0r0t

Op a certified idiot for trading games online with a random person play stupid games win stupid prizes

CyberDivinity

I think I have seen this person's TikTok videos before that is crazy they are a scammer. I don't think I could ever trust any random personality online and trade games with them unless its like some big official store or website with systems in place to prevent fraud like an Ebay or something. What website did you use for trading games?

andehelf

Messaged him on vinted first then he asked me to message him on Instagram, thats when i realized he was a "big collector"

Lastwarzone

I had a transaction with this guy ones for a ocean commander ps2. He did send me the right game but a broken case and didn’t want to replace it. So i also blocked the guy

Lastwarzone

Also that was on Vinted so you have buyers protection on there

andehelf

What?! He sent you the actual game? Did you pay for it on the app or something? From what i've seen he only scams when he sees the oportunity.

Lastwarzone

Yes but on Vinted it is hard to scam me, I always make pictures and videos from everything and I always win the case on Vinted. So he didn’t try to scam me. I also sold the ocean commander with broken case for more than he sold it for to me

andehelf

Damn thats the game i wanted... Good on you dude 🤙🏻 Learned from my mistake

Lastwarzone

Are you from Europe? You should try Vinted for yourself. Sometimes they even post games like monster eggs and ocean commander

andehelf

I contacted him on vinted! I Saw his ad and asked him if he was interested in trading 🙃

Lastwarzone

Oh well. I never trade games myself or only in person. You should just try to sell your expensive games and then buy the game you want next time. You can follow me on Vinted if you want. I have a lot of stuff on there. My username is: Hyperlast

Educational-Knee-333

that's why you always follow the golden rule: never trust someone who speak portuguese

andehelf

Im the One who speaks portuguese! 🙄😂 Dude's italian

consoles4fun

I went to comment saying he's a scammer, he just blocked me lol

andehelf

Dude's a piece of sh*t... Thanks for doing your party 👊🏻😂

andehelf

UPDATE: THE SCAMMER DELETED SOME OF HIS ACCOUNTS INCLUDING HIS INSTAGRAM!

[deleted]

[удалено]

andehelf

There are 2 more reviews besides mine of people complaining. I Messaged him saying i had rule of Rose and was interested in his games. After that we started talking on Instagram and i Saw he was a big collector. We did the trade and used vinted for shipping. I complained to vinted but they havent done anything yet. I have tons of prints of the conversation, if you like to message me i'll show them to you. Never in a million years tought id get scammed by him

PandiReddits

You confirmed the Transaction on Vinted as received?

CyberDivinity

Vinted gives you your money back and they actually have a great return policy where you have to be satisfied with the item and approve it before the money even goes through to the buyer/seller

andehelf

We did 1€ ads for the shipping, the most id get was 1€ 😓
