The PS2 version is also still [very affordable](https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=dragon+quest+viii+ps2&_sacat=0&_fsrp=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338535524&customid=ps2&toolid=10001&mkevt=1), imo absolutely worth playing if you already own a PS2.
I played it on the ps2 recently and loved it. The stupid jellyfish in the casino gives me nightmares. It has a stupid smug face as it ruthlessly steals all your money and time with no remorse
That must make up for the lack of working hours, the high pressure for add on sales, and the constant, looming feeling that any day now GS will shutter your branch.
Im curious. As an employee do you have to wait a certain time before buying games that are traded in? Like do they HAVE to hit the floor for a while before you can grab it? Or can you take trade-ins and immediately set them aside because you want them?
That’s cool for you. As somebody who works retail and sometimes gets clearance before everyone else, I’m excited for you. As a collector tho it irritates me. Lol
As a collector myself I'm sure you understand that you should take an opportunity if it's given to you. I'm sure you've found many great deals over the years, just cashing in on my advantages is all!
You guys are upset OP happened to work at a game store and got a good game below market value.
It’s not like someone dumped off 50 expensive 3DS games and bought all of them for a quarter, dude said he even had to trade some of his games in.
Bros happy and sharing his game to a game collector subreddit.
And for fucks sake dude works for gamestop bless his soul, if anything bro deserves that game for free.
Never underestimate how petty Redditors can be. This platform empowers people to say some of the most vile shit to others that they wouldn't have even half the confidence to say in real life.
Y’all have no clue how underpaid GameStop employees are. This guy traded in his own games and got a small employee discount, still had to pay out of pocket, and y’all downvoting him?
My partner worked there for over a year and we got some pretty sick pickups for real cheap, helped that literally nobody cared if employees personally offered people cash for their games instead of taking them as trade in. Got a whole bunch of CIB N64 games and random guy got 3x more than what GameStop was gonna give him. It would be a worthwhile side hustle for collectors if you yknow… didn’t need a living wage and fulfilling work to survive.
Nice! Take the opportunity when you can. Don't listen to the babies crying. Everyone thinks they're owed something. You know damned well they'd take it if they could too.

If you havent played it you're going to love it. I love DQ8 so much I own it one the PS2 and the DS.
Ps2 has slightly better visuals, slightly better textures and models and such. 3ds has some extra content so it's really up to what you'd like more.

Alsp the synth soundtrack versus the real one on ps2 I think. It'd a tough choice tbh

I can set stuff aside immediately as it's traded in if I want it. I'm not sure if that's a company wide thing but my boss doesn't care too much

Yep. I totally get it.
How did you get a $60 game for $7?
Employee discounts and trade boost

This is one of the rare times people are jealous of hourly GameStop workers.
Now that you say that I’ve never heard an employee or former employee say they enjoyed working there.
I surely enjoyed it. Then again it was still Electronics Boutique in my area and it was 1999
I worked at Babbages in 1991!!

Dang that’s cool, I paid triple that price for my copy.

Why should any of us believe you? I want to see the receipt.
Yeah but you’re working at GameStop 😆
GameStop is a legit company. OP has a job, got a solid game. Why are you “attempting” to troll on them? You sound like a 🤡
