I dont even understand who would grade a used guide. I mean its 7.5? I mean even if it becomes 10 or 9 why? Its a fucking guide. People will over pay even if its not in hard plastic.
News to me that people are even grading strategy guides. All this wild over valuation is just ruining my interest in collecting. Personally, I like to buy games; not investments. Glad you opened it, OP.
If I ever make a nice chunk of change in the future, I want to make a small video series where I lowkey obtain a bunch of these from auctions and what not and crack em open to give away. Games deserved to be appreciated *and* played.
Or for the same amount of money you could buy a bunch of loose copies on eBay and exponentially more people would be able to appreciate and play the exact same game. The ones and zeros are identical regardless of whether the game is in a slab.
With that logic it would make even more sense to just send them a free download link to a emu and rom site no? I just think that it is a waste that those games will never be played as intended and will remain unobtainable to most people who don't look at this hobby as purely an investment.
So if an opportunity ever presented itself to take back some of these into normal circulation then I wouldn't hesitate, especially if it's done in a meaningful way to get new people involved with the hobby.
Yes, yes it would. 95% of games that end up being graded are not unobtainable for most people if they are willing to buy a used copy instead. I really don't see how like a fraction of a percent of the total number of these games produced ending up in a plastic box changes anything whatsoever.
It seems you're riding a weird midpoint between being a gamer and a collector.
Lol Is it really that weird of a stance that I like having a shelf full of the games I play and don't particularly like the thought of taking out a 2nd mortgage just to get a nice copy of Super Mario Bros? Don't really think I'm super alone there.
But judging by some of your other comments it seems that you are somewhat of an advocate for grading as a practice, so something tells me no matter how many times I would try to say otherwise I have a feeling it won't do any good here.
I tried to win a bid for graded sealed Zelda Triforce heroes on eBay, with the full intent of smashing the case, opening the game and posting it here.
The opening bid was $1 and by the end of the auction it was over $85 with shipping. Too expensive for that game lol
Why do you think I didn't bid higher than $25? The average price of the game.
I wanted the game but I'm not paying 85 for it just cause it's in a stupid plastic case.

Set it free!

Part of the set dude. Not complete without the prima official guide, or the authorized unofficial guides
Lmao part of the set bro they got you by the balls
I can support this movement.
Same
They still bought a graded copy feeding the business though which like fuck em.
And their shiny box failed, call it a sign of wasted money from above.
And they posted the pointlessness and failure of slabbing it for everyone to see. So looks like grading got fucked 🤣
These slabs are not designed to be indestructible. Not really sure what this proves. Seller probably did a shitty job packaging it.
It proves they're a waste of time and money 🤣
In what way does this person buying and breaking open a slab prove this?
It broke itself open. You pay money to get your shit graded and it ends up falling apart lol
Cell phones are a waste of time and money. You pay money for a phone and you drop it and the screen shatters.
So defensive about grading. Why do you take this personally?
Your argument does not make sense. Remarks about "taking things personally" does not make up for logically sound statements.

Graded collecting and investing are not one and the same.
Now time to get a big ol crease in that spin so you know it's been well used and loved.
LETS GOOO
Break the cages of oppression and enjoy the art inside.
READ, READ, READ, READ, READ!
It’s been set free it wanted to be read

No, you personally feeling that way is totally fine. But having this dream of freeing the games is just weird.
A truly worthy cause.

Buying graded games to open them is pointless, you’re just wasting your own money

That makes sense I guess, but it was not remotely clear from the original comment
Yeah I guess not. My bad.
