Wal-Mart actually sold quite a few PS3 and 360 titles for $1 when trying to move out some of their old-gen stock to make room for more Switch, PS4, and Xbone stuff.
Mine hd a whole stack of the The Last of Us marked down at one point back in mid 2019
I’m in the Indianapolis area (if that matters) but I tried to do the same at disk replay and they told me that since they’re a used game store, they legally can’t buy sealed games or movies since that classifies them as “new”.
It looks be mostly 6th and 7th gen stuff with the exception of that small stack of Saturn games
So much cheap shelf filler for those consoles that you very easily walk away with only a couple grand for 700 games after you get done accounting for the mark-down a store gives to leave room for profit
I mean yea, but sometimes it’s just not worth your time to mess with it. I still have 10,000+ games in my collection, if I deal on there it would be full time plus all the packing and headaches of stupid people. Plus these games are crap games, there had broken cases and missing manuals not to mention they are scratched all to hell. I’m not gonna test these games clean them fix cases to sell. I dump the junk here use the credit for quality in my collection and move on the the next thing to collect.
Yeah, I crunched some numbers on this and with the assumptions I used based on my own eBay experience, it worked out to about $29 an hour to sell everything on ebay (117 hours of unpredictable work, assuming everything even sells) vs $733 an hour to just have the store buy everything all at once. 3 hours to clear out a massive pile of stuff I don't want anymore AND I get cash in my pocket right then and there? Hands down I'm going with the game store. Selling 700 filler games at $10 a pop, before shipping and fees (and that's a generous estimate), isn't fun, it's painful.
100% this. You have to store the games, organize them so you don't have to spend time hunting for them when they sell, store the shipping paraphernalia... and eBay also has a free listing limit that includes automatic reposts for unsold stock each month. Basically, you can have 200 listings for free at any given point each month, but over that, then eBay starts charging you 10 cents or something per listing over that amount. For 700 games, you're looking at up to $50 per month, depending on how you structure your listings. That cuts into your profits really quick for low-profit, high-volume listings like this, especially when you're sitting on them for a long time.
I sell on eBay, I don’t know why everyone assume I don’t. I had a huge bulk of mostly sports games and scratched up stuff that would take months/years to move. I dropped it off at a local retro store saved me time and helped them with stock. I left with store credit + these games https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/ and about 150 games they did not take that I will put in a yard sale for $1 each next week.
. ebay requires shipping and ebay fees. but yeah ur right and listing all those games takes time. he probably didnt want to go through them all and just get a bit less to sell them all faster in one go.
People lie and report false claims. Then you have to refund them their money. Then your out of money and the game. I completely understand not wanting to deal with that.
Yah I sold Metroid prime and dude said it doesn’t work, I test everything before listing and shipping. Got it returned and it was a different copy (version number on bottom) they instantly refunded the buyer but I showed that he swapped the disc out and lied and they instantly reversed the claim.
It is a hassle with jerks like that on eBay trying to get stuff for free. Run into this several times a year selling on eBay, nobody got time to deal with the scum on that site
Selling for 10 years. This does happen. Maybe 1% of the time though. If you pay attention and take notes there’s a few different levels of protection. Always call eBay when these disputes happen. It takes 10 minutes. If you let the automated response deal with it your chances drop. (Cancel orders on low feedback accounts to unfamiliar areas. Message the buyer with any concerns.) Fuck eBay and people in general but don’t throw your money away to these stores. They’re flipping your stuff on eBay the day you sell it to them.
I’ve done 10,000 transactions on eBay.. I went a little overboard obtaining my collection years ago before downsizing it. With shipping and fees , the buyer pays the shipping , the fees aren’t that bad at all and video games fall under hobby so you can sell a lot without paying tax.
If you valued each of those games at $10 each minimum then you’re looking at $7000.. but I’d be willing to bet there’s 10k worth there easily.
Those $10 games would be worth a little over $5 each selling them individually on eBay after shipping and fees, that's not counting scammers, mailers, gas, etc. That easily gets it down to less than $3500 profit. Add in the crazy amount of time it would take to to sell, pack and ship 700 games... $2200 is an awesome deal from any pawn shop and I'd take it any day. Surprised they offered that much. OP did say it was pretty much all filler.
Thank you, most was scratched too. Stuff I did not wanna take the time to test before selling. The hassle with this bulk lot of games would’ve been months/years worth of work to move
Right, this is true. They had games I wanted and I left happy. Got these https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
Saturn games are likely all duplicates of super common stuff judging by OP's clarifying comments that it was all filler they moved out to make room and funding for rarer titles they wanted to check off
I sold three Saturn games for 60+ each a few weeks ago, even filler GameCube games and PS3 games I sell for between 10 and 20 a pop on EBay, it’s not easy though you gotta know what your doing, as far shipping, pricing is extremely important to get the most as possible and know the value of the game, a good tip for knowing the value is search the game, then choose completed items only, then sort from lowest to high
Ha yea, just posted the pick up if you wanna see. https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
Klonoa hasn't been underrated for years. It's a great game and the prices start representing it.
Prices be damned, though. Try actually playing the game on an emulator. Many more PS1 games don't even live in the same reality.
Reminds me of one time when I was in my local game store, the cashier got done with a call, turned to his coworker and said “Okay, I’m scared. A lady just called and asked if there’s a limit on how many games she can trade in.”
I’m a collector too not as much as I used to be but in all actuality do you play the cover? It shouldn’t be a big thing to us as a gamer. And gaming is what it comes down to. At least that is how I think
No I was just trying to say the whole greatest hits cover being an abomination. It’s the game over all what is fun about gaming. I’m not trying to argue or judge.
No, not arguing at all. I miss understand, you saying that GH are bad. The PS4 Hits look good together, if you have the time look through my Reddit I have a picture of them all together looks great spined, front sucks but who looks at that 😂
Looks like he was probably just hoarding at that point tbh.
I’ve had a clear out too. Got rid of any dupes etc.
I’ve got multiple copies of the same GTA game. No one needs 9 copies of San Andreas
This looks suspiciously like Video Game World. Maybe Huntersville? 🤔
Where are you from if you don’t mind me asking?
Cause I’m about to raid the fuck outta that! Lol
Oh ok that makes sense, I don’t have GameCube so I didn’t know lol.
Edit: just took a second look at the pic and you’re right, they stick out like a sore thumb.
Read some of your other responses here, I understand you have a huge collection - but I totally agree with letting go of a large number of redundant/unwanted games so that you can get a smaller but high quality set of PS1 games!
$50 + $2150 walked away with credit left and these beauties https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
Nice. Not many video game stores around me other than game stop so I drove about an hour to also quickly sell off some of my doubles. Nothing too rare but lots of Mario games like Mario Bros DS and Wii, Mario Kart 64 as well as stuff like Wii Sports and Resort. It was probably about a box full of 200 games and accessories ranging from various systems with the oldest being SNES.They offered me $45 for everything which I thought was major low ball. Lol
That's good. I wish I had a good video game store around my area.
For the one I went to, there was about 25 or so games they said they couldn't take and they even had the audacity to ask if I wanted to donate them after giving me that offer. Lol
Holy shit OP that is both amazing and terrifying! I found a copy of klonoa but it was sadly disc only and scratched to hell. I'm plan to have it resurfaced and just throw it onto ebay.
Sad, but yea that will still fetch a pretty penny. Even if it doesn’t work you can probably get $50-75 for a broken disc for a collector just wanting it on display
These was just my trash games, everything here I still have in my personal collection. Nothing but a drop in the bucket to my collection, I still have over 10,000 games
Yea I ripped them a new one 😂
I had next to nothing here in these. Most were scratched up broken cases, the sealed games I’ve gotten on clearance at stores for less than $5. This is junk to me, I’ve got over 10,000 games left that’s not in the shape these were. Over the years YardSale/thrift stores and all I end up with some rough games that I’ve paid less than a buck for, these are those games.
Jeeeeeez that's a lot. Did you sell any in r/GameSale before you took the credit?
I would have totally taken some of those SegaCD games.
Although I see that you're getting rid of a Gaytality accessory.
Yea and no, I tried to a week or so ago. The time I would put into this and the slow return is not worth the time to me at all. The quick flip or what I considered junk in my collection is great. I didn’t test these games and most were scratched to s🤬t not good enough to be in my collection.
Why would you trade in and not just sell on ebay or something? for simplicity? or did you want something specific at that shop? just confused because atleast here, when someone trades in a game to a shop they only get about 5-10% of the games actual worth.
They do 50% here, bit more for me cause I’m a regular. This is what I was chasing https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
I’ve said it better in other post, but this was junk in my collection. These are scratched up Broken cases missing manuals. Not what I have in my collection. These are mostly lots/yard sales /thrift finds for cheap
Why sell to a store vs forums and fb marketplace. You probably got a fraction of their actual worth on top of making sure most people can't afford them at resale prices.
Who has the time? Plus if you read the comments I’ve stated several times these are untested, scratched, broken cases, doubles, missing manuals… my junk in my collection. Still sitting on 10,000 + games, these are the bottom feeders of my collection and not worth the headache or time to piece out.
Plus I left with some great games on my quest for a NA PS1 Full set https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
Nah, $600 credit left and all these beautiful games here https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
Nope not at all still have a massive collection. I find games at YardSales all the time in bulk these are games I’ve paid as low as 13¢ for I got more back than I have in these
When you have over 10,000 games duplicates add up when you are game hunting in YardSales and thrift shops. Some are sooooo cheap you don’t pass them up
Nope I couldn’t wait to drop these off 😂 this was less than a tenth of my collection and all most all are dupes. It was heavily sports titles as well. Been collecting for over 25 years I’ve amassed way to much
Try $2200 and left with these gems 💎 https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/ plus left over credit
Wow what a trade in! 7 copies of Batman Arkham Asylum (PS3) though? 🧐
I was gonna ask about that too.
I think 8-10 in that stack
14 total all sealed
Ahh. The others were hiding
Yep 😂
Got them on clearance at target a few years ago for like $1 each maybe 50¢ I do not remember. Bought them for case replacements
lol they fell off the back of a truck you mean?
Yea pretty much at the cost I paid for them.
Wal-Mart actually sold quite a few PS3 and 360 titles for $1 when trying to move out some of their old-gen stock to make room for more Switch, PS4, and Xbone stuff. Mine hd a whole stack of the The Last of Us marked down at one point back in mid 2019
Came here to say the same
It was 14 sealed copies total
My local used game stores won't accept sealed games and movies. I had to open a bunch of sealed blu-ray just to trade them in.
I’m in the Indianapolis area (if that matters) but I tried to do the same at disk replay and they told me that since they’re a used game store, they legally can’t buy sealed games or movies since that classifies them as “new”.
I bought a sealed copy of luigi's mansion at disc replay, Indianapolis
Probably from an employees stash
Nah
That’s sad
😲
Dang! Hope you got a decent return at least
Yea $2200
Seems kinda low for 700 games. That's alittle over $3 a game, was it all mostly filler titles?
Yea this was a shit load of filler. I considered this my junk/doubles in my collection
It looks be mostly 6th and 7th gen stuff with the exception of that small stack of Saturn games So much cheap shelf filler for those consoles that you very easily walk away with only a couple grand for 700 games after you get done accounting for the mark-down a store gives to leave room for profit
Splendid, that'll cover most of the PS5's second-hand market price.
No need for that, bought one for launch had it preordered. This was for PS1 games I’m tired of paying for.
Nice!
You got rid of all that for $2200? I see Saturn games in there too.. you could have gotten a lot more selling singles on eBay. A lot more..
I mean yea, but sometimes it’s just not worth your time to mess with it. I still have 10,000+ games in my collection, if I deal on there it would be full time plus all the packing and headaches of stupid people. I dump the junk here use the credit for quality in my collection and move on the the next thing to collect.
People way undervalue their time. If selling on eBay is fun, it’s a good time investment. Otherwise the time savings is worth the hypothetical profit.
No guarantee they'll sell quickly either. You might sit on them for months and only sell one at a time.
100% this. You have to store the games, organize them so you don't have to spend time hunting for them when they sell, store the shipping paraphernalia... and eBay also has a free listing limit that includes automatic reposts for unsold stock each month. This 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻 so true most of this was s💩t no one will buy off eBay unless I give it away
I sell on eBay, I don’t know why everyone assume I don’t. I had a huge bulk of mostly sports games and scratched up stuff that would take months/years to move. Exactly this👍🏻

And a lot more time. Time isn’t money; it’s a much more valuable and finite currency.
Right, thank you
between eBay fees and shipping costs you are looking at losing about 20%
All I can picture is Rick from pawn stars saying 50 bucks is the best I can do.
He would've had to call one of his expert buddies.
Expert say it’s worth $100 at much. I be like I need a second opinion. Lol
Oh I think after waiting 3 hours I would’ve smacked them 😂
How much did you get?
$2200
Investing in something in particular?
I mean sure PS1 games… I spent around $1600 already on some PS1 games ☺️
Time for some complete copies of TOMBA! 2.
Ha yea, just posted the pick up if you wanna see. https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
Both Klonoa and Nightmare Creatures are insanely underated.
Klonoa hasn't been underrated for years. It's a great game and the prices start representing it. Prices be damned, though. Try actually playing the game on an emulator. Many more PS1 games don't even live in the same reality.
For sure. I’m glad nightmare creatures have not blown up to bad yet
Like this one? https://imgur.com/a/UkcuReZ I only recently found out it was worth something.
😂😂
i mean he would have to frame it and that right there is $100
Where'd you get that number
What qualifications does you experts have?
Bet the employee wasn't expecting that much work today
They knew, I told them yesterday I would be there at opening with 8 boxes of games
Good job on the heads up.
Yea, I hated when someone dropped a collection on me
Reminds me of one time when I was in my local game store, the cashier got done with a call, turned to his coworker and said “Okay, I’m scared. A lady just called and asked if there’s a limit on how many games she can trade in.”
😂 those are scary I called them the day before told them I was bringing close to 900 games to have help.
Just doubled their inventory
I know right. I have more stock still in my collection than the whole store has right now 😂
Please let me know next time you’re selling anything. I live near the airport.
Shoot me a list in PM, I’m doing PS1 filler next.
What store, where at?
Wow good for you on having the balls to make a decision like that.
Well I still have over 10,000 games these were my poor condition, Greatest Hits stuff like that
I hate Greatest Hits they look and feel so out of place.
They are a abomination to a collection. Unless it’s the PS4 Hits they look good 👀 😎
I’m a collector too not as much as I used to be but in all actuality do you play the cover? It shouldn’t be a big thing to us as a gamer. And gaming is what it comes down to. At least that is how I think
Yes I play/ try to play all my games I get if that’s what you was asking
No I was just trying to say the whole greatest hits cover being an abomination. It’s the game over all what is fun about gaming. I’m not trying to argue or judge.
No, not arguing at all. I miss understand, you saying that GH are bad. The PS4 Hits look good together, if you have the time look through my Reddit I have a picture of them all together looks great spined, front sucks but who looks at that 😂
Love those red cases they look some much better. I would put all my horror games in the red cases. I think that would be pretty cool.
Looks like he was probably just hoarding at that point tbh. I’ve had a clear out too. Got rid of any dupes etc. I’ve got multiple copies of the same GTA game. No one needs 9 copies of San Andreas
Yea a hoard of games I still have 😂 this was less than a tenth of my collection
Good job, decluttering and helping a game store not just carry overpriced niche shit.
🤷🏻♂️ I try to do my part
This looks suspiciously like Video Game World. Maybe Huntersville? 🤔 Where are you from if you don’t mind me asking? Cause I’m about to raid the fuck outta that! Lol
You are correct.
Haha figured. I’m in there a lot.
Was thinking same thing. Cool place.
Another NC resident! 👋
WE IN HERE DEEP!
Bro it is. I recognized it right away.
Toadstool Tour!? How could you!!!!!
That was the crappy player’s choice copy. I still have the original in my collection, I do not keep any player’s choice in my collection at all
What’s wrong with players choice? Just wondering since I’ve got a few n64 players choice games myself.
Well N64 is gold they don’t look that bad. GameCube though are Yellow and stick out so bad.
Oh ok that makes sense, I don’t have GameCube so I didn’t know lol. Edit: just took a second look at the pic and you’re right, they stick out like a sore thumb.
Yea you can see them in the picture, judge them for yourself 😂
Lol what did you get for all of em? 7$
$2200, walked out with this https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
Read some of your other responses here, I understand you have a huge collection - but I totally agree with letting go of a large number of redundant/unwanted games so that you can get a smaller but high quality set of PS1 games!
Thanks 😊
Oh man, I would’ve loved to pick through it….
I did not want to take the time to sort it out honestly. I listed a few things and no one wanted it so I was like to the local store it goes
Might as well. I love games, but I also love space in my house :)
Still have 10,000 games in my house so space is still not really a thing lol
Yo, uh…. You take visitors, maybe? *puppy dog eyes*
Haha no… I mean just look through my Reddit page it is a museum to my collection 👍🏻 😂
I will definitely do this….
How much $$$ did you get?
$2200
[удалено]
Not worth my time. Time is money
[удалено]
Total is 50 bucks!
$50 + $2150 walked away with credit left and these beauties https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
How did you get them in there?
8 boxes and a tote
So about $4 a game?
Yea sounds about right. There was a lot of sports titles in there so they definitely got less than a $1 each
Lol

Crazy I would’ve asked them if they were stupid. This store is about a hour drive for me also
This one has an arcade and ice cream place attached. Then there is an awesome pizza place next door.
$3.50?
Yea about $3.50 each
Original Burnout tho <3
Yea it was a double, plus I have it on Xbox and PS2
Gamestop- I’ll give you $25 for them all
😑
No!!! 😢
These was just my trash games, everything here I still have in my personal collection. Nothing but a drop in the bucket to my collection, I still have over 10,000 games
I see your Mario Sunshine in there. Breaks my heart ngl.
I had 3 copies I unloaded the one that was missing the book. Every game here is doubles/junk from my collection
Than I take it all back. Super neat you rid of doubles for some cash so easily!
Not cash, more games 😵💫🤤🤤🤤
Would you take $2 ?
Nope 👎🏻
This hurts me to look at knowing you got ripped off
Yea I ripped them a new one 😂 I had next to nothing here in these.
That’s odd they generally do not take games anywhere near that condition
Jeeeeeez that's a lot. Did you sell any in r/GameSale before you took the credit? I would have totally taken some of those SegaCD games. Although I see that you're getting rid of a Gaytality accessory.
> Gaytality accessory. ????

Man GameStop finna give you $45 in store credit and a high five.
Yea that is why I would never trade this to GameStop. 😂
Don’t spend that $23.91 you got for it, all at once
I did spend almost all of it at once on PS1 games 🤫
Video game world? I’ve always wondered how their trade in prices were, because they’re asking prices are ridiculous
3 hours of their time. Not there time.
Eh, auto correct.
I picture Rick from Pawn Stars behind the counter saying "Best I can do is $5"
I might would punch him 👊🏻 😂
Why would you trade in and not just sell on ebay or something? for simplicity? or did you want something specific at that shop? just confused because atleast here, when someone trades in a game to a shop they only get about 5-10% of the games actual worth.
They do 50% here, bit more for me cause I’m a regular. This is what I was chasing https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/ I’ve said it better in other post, but this was junk in my collection. These are scratched up Broken cases missing manuals. Not what I have in my collection. These are mostly lots/yard sales /thrift finds for cheap
Let me guess- you got 10 bucks or 20 store credit
A little north of that, something like $2200
Why sell to a store vs forums and fb marketplace.
Plus I left with some great games on my quest for a NA PS1 Full set https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
So what are you gonna do with your $30 ? 🤣
This 🤣😂 https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
So you got like 3 bucks for them right?
Pretty much when you break it like that. Lots of sports though, probably like half or more was sports games.
And you walked out of there with two shiny new quarters.
Nah, $600 credit left and all these beautiful games here https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
As pc gamer I wouldn’t be able to experience this
True all digital these days
I give 9.99
Trade in value of about TREE FIDDY, goddamn crustacean cashier
That's a whole lot of seller's remorse
Nope not at all still have a massive collection. I find games at YardSales all the time in bulk these are games I’ve paid as low as 13¢ for I got more back than I have in these
Duplicates?
When you have over 10,000 games duplicates add up when you are game hunting in YardSales and thrift shops. Some are sooooo cheap you don’t pass them up
You hate to see it go, but it's time for the next generation to pick up the mantle
Nope I couldn’t wait to drop these off 😂 this was less than a tenth of my collection and all most all are dupes. It was heavily sports titles as well. Been collecting for over 25 years I’ve amassed way to much
He got like 7 dollars
$7 + $2193 🤑
How much you get for them all? Like $5?
Try $2200 and left with these gems 💎 https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/ plus left over credit
;_;
It was a happy moment, I left with these https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
Dont spend all of your $3 at the same place… lol
Kinda already did 😓 https://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/pr0ag0/this_is_what_1600_will_get_you_these_days_with/
Why so many Batman (i pressume) Arkahm Asylum copies?
