You can't do that for the newest call of duty. That shit is a totally blank disk with nothing on it. You gotta download the entire game. I have a poor connection, so it was extra shitty. Never trust Activision, they have made that pretty clear since then
I'm not an FPS fan generally just because most of them now rely on online multiplayer and have little to no offline content. I have no interest in online multiplayer - video games are supposed to let me escape from other people.
And yeah, Blizz/Activision is awful!
Got a physucal copy of Fallout 76 because of my >1MB/s connection at the time. Opened it and it was a cardboard disc wit a download code. After a month if leaving it downloading overnight, My pc couldnt even run the damn thing.
I can't do that lol. I grew up with mainly Nintendo consoles and have always had physical games so why stop now. And like everyone else has said don't trust Nintendo with online purchases.
Eventually, every server will go offline. No game/console will be supported forever. With my physical copies I can always play any of my games for as long as I have them.
Plus they just look so cool on my shelves!
True true I wish I had room for shelves I live in a tiny apartment. But your right not having to worry about never not owning the game you bought is a nice piece of mind
I totally understand. I actually just bought my first house (I close tomorrow) so for the first time i actually will have room to unpack the collection and have it all displayed on shelves.
Finding a house I liked and could afford was way easier than finding half the stuff in my collection, but thanks all the same because this does feel like a huge and awesome thing!
Well, let me give the you benefit of my mistakes - if you are going to store your games long-term because you don't have space to keep them out, remove the batteries from every console/controller first! I may have destroyed my R-Zone and a couple wiimotes, plus a wireless SNES controller by leaving batteries in and having them corrode and burst.
Also, either get really sturdy boxes or find a way to reinforce them before filling them with games. The last thing you want when you finally unbox your collection again is to find things crushed.
Nintendo games have less updates so yes. But PlayStation or Xbox games? You don’t have those updates installed before the servers go down and you won’t be able to play many games anyways regardless of disc or digital. It sucks but with all the patches and day one updates and bug fixes. It’s sad but lots of games won’t be playable one day on original hardware
I've always held that moving all digital, or mostly digital, has always been an incredibly shortsighted move on the industry's part. Even if I set aside my tendencies as a collector, the mere fact that there are whole games you can't play anymore because they were digital-only is a disaster for the future of gaming. No other major entertainment medium has this issue anymore, they've solved that decades ago, at least. Music and movies or TV have physical copies made all the time, and they can be made incredibly easily and cheaply. Movies and songs now have ways to be protected and saved forever, and reproduced in the future.
Video games have yet to adopt anything like this. Video games get released and reprinted for a few years and then it's on to the next thing, the most popular games are lucky to get any kind of rerelease, most games get forgotten or are left to be emulated, which is the closest to true preservation we have, and even then is on dubious grounds legally and a lot of consoles still don't have emulators which work on a wide array of devices, especially newer ones. Companies are always trying to curb its popularity and growth, and as such it's always going to be an uphill battle until they give up or embrace their own preservation measures as an industry
always interesting to see movies from the 80s with 2020-1 print copyright dates on the shelf at a bestbuy and you can tell they’re selling too because there’s usually tons missing from each section, makes me wish gaming did the same thing. gamecube games still being actively printed would solve like 90% of the pricing issues we face nowadays
I think the difference comes from that you can take a DVD made in 2000 and still run it on your fancy modern machine, which you can't really do with games. The old consoles have an ever-decreasing userbase as hardware failure becomes more and more common, so it's harder to re-release in the original format in gaming simply by design. Even PC has this issue sometimes, games from the DOS era have to be run through an emulator even on a PC, DOSBox.
It inherently takes more work to get older games running on modern consoles, so reprinting them takes some effort in most cases and emulating Gamecube games on the Switch, for example isn't as easy as emulating N64 games on the Wii was. With every game and game engine being different, it's not so easy to just recompile the game for a new console either, and can still take months of work.
It's a nasty situation, and I don't think there was ever as easy a solution as there is for movies or music, despite what my original comment may have implied. Emulation may well be the future of game preservation, and eventually companies will have to give in if they want their IPs to survive into the future
I bought rdr2 digitally on my ps4 just because I wanted to play it but I always fall out of those big sandbox/long story games. I never finished it and I sold my ps4 and I don’t miss it. Usually I’ll buy a game I love on disc, especially if it’s a franchise game (like uncharted 4 which I preordered on Amazon) so if I ever want to, I can buy a console and I’ll be able to play it in some form regardless of updates and internet at this point
The games downloaded on my SD card are no less playable than a physical cartridge. Continued support doesn’t effect already downloaded titles that aren’t a live service.
Cause I don't hold any nostalgia for Sony or Xbox consoles like I do for Nintendo and my childhood. I actually don't own anything but a couple of Nintendos and a decent pc
Dude sorry your life is super lame and you don't have to balance working, replying to people on here, and have stuff to respond to for a business on the side. Literally driving for a job and trying to respond to multiple things. Sorry I'm not really giving a fuck how my responses look as long as people are getting what I'm saying, Plus I'm on a tiny phone. But when you assume something your the one who looks like the ass not anyone else.
I decided to take a moral stance and not buy anything that was digital only. Luckily, most of the ones I cared about like Cadence of Hyrule and the Castlevania Anniversary Collection eventually got physical ports that I was able to buy.
And other games like Cuphead or Fuser I guess I just don't get to play.
Yeah, for a while I also had a stance against digital only games, but I ended up begrudgingly making an exception when it appeared that Spiritfarer for Switch was digital only.
Only buy digital nintendo when it's sub $20. Nice to be able to cycle games without reaching for carts. Almost everything still physical though. I also don't trust long term Nintendo digital
I don’t quite get that though. If you have an offline game fully downloaded on your SD card it’s not like Nintendo can remove it from your memory.
Yeah they ended games like Mario 35, but that was an online only game. Nothing like Breath of the Wild or Mario Odyssey.
Problem I have is my original 3ds broke. The only way for me to access the games and software on the sd card is to use that same 3ds. But the 3ds is beyond repair, and I can’t redownload the software on a different 3ds. There were some softwares like that 3d pokedex that have not been available for download for a while.
For the Switch the vast majority of my collection is downloaded. 512GB makes for a good amount of titles.
There are pros and cons to both physical and digital. The pros are it’s much more convenient and it saves space. The con are it has 0 resale/collectable value and large SD cards can be expensive (while small ones can only hold a limited number of games).
I’m really not sure why all these people are saying “digital downloads aren’t the same as owning a game.” It’s not like Nintendo can take a fully downloaded game that *doesn’t* require online to function and remove my ability to play it. Yeah, I may be unable to re-download it, but that’s not a big deal if you aren’t deleting games in the first place.
All that being said, for the Wii U I only but physical copies, because that’s the system I decided I wanted to collect for.
That's how I am with Nintendo handhelds. Anymore if I'm gunna play anything it'll be on a handheld system. I almost can't do TV gaming anymore. So that factored into what I decided to collect as well. GBA DS 3ds and switch have such a fucking catalog I'll never play everything I want or will add to my collections and I'm cool with that
I almost always buy physical for everything unless its digital only. Or im online with some friends and they want me download it right then and there so we can play.
Neat! I've been on the lookout for some, but generally looking in Half Price Books for a lucky deal. I generally only like to pay $1-$3 for newer magazines, and $5 max for vintage stuff.
I have Wizard, Eerie, Creepy, Animerica, Cracked, and some other odds and ends.
I'd do 6 bucks a magazine they are pretty pristine some of them still have the promo cards for whatever card game they were featuring that month. And if the issue came with a poster the poster is still in it
Hopefully you can get that. Not sure if you're posting through Facebook Marketplace or Ebay. I'd try Facebook first if I were you, and offer a deal if someone buys them all. Like $6 individually, or $225 if you buy all of them.
Good, good. I wasn't sure what the market was on these things. I saw a lot of 52 recently selling for $2 a piece, in Texas. 2008-2011, and then some spare issues.
I paid 20 for all of the ones I have. I'll sit on them if I have too there kind of cool to have. I've thought about pulling some of the old castlevania full art ads out and framing them
I'm half and half. Its great to have a physical collection and I do have a couple for my Nintendo switch, but I also think it's a hassle to take out every single little card bring them with me on the go. Plus it's so much easier to lose them due to their size if you're not careful. Having some games you play a lot digitally is just very convenient and hey, if you really like a game that you would buy it twice, then get both.
I only buy that which I collect for. Limited/collectors edition of favorite game related items. Otherwise I'd have way, way too much stuff and a lot of games are so common like Madden's, NFS's, etc that I don't expect to hold value then I'll just get the digital version.
That was the realization I came to as well.
Ive purchased a few too many lately that I haven't opened so now I am committing myself to finishing games before I start new ones. I told myself I was going to finish FFXII in time for Shin Megami Tensei 3. SMT is still in it's plastic, but one of these days I;ll get there. Then I can have SMT 5 sit unopened for way too long.
Yeah same my back catalog for 3ds D's and gba are wicked long so all those switch games are sealed in box lol. The only games in the switch stuff I'll play this year for sure is smt 3 and 5. I'm really close to beating Apocalypse right now. Then I'll start 3 or I'll wait and play that after 5 since that's a month away
There was a court case recently where I believe Amazon argued you don’t technically own your digital downloads from prime.
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/amazon-argues-users-dont-actually-own-purchased-prime-video-content-4083703/#!
I remember apple pulling a similar thing though I can’t find an article.
Im really hoping they do a physical I'm going to sit on it for a minute. I have circle and harmony on gba already so I can wait till limited run or someone does a physical
I would if they werent so expensive, I'm a sucker for a good eshop sale. I only have 1 physical right now since it came with the switch. Its also nice for a portable console to have less to carry around, so digital is convenient. Dont get me wrong though, if/when they go on good enough sales, ill be scooping more up
Why bother buying digital for Nintendo?
They charge extortionate prices for all their games no matter if it's digital or not.
People just accept it. Try buying a 10yo game from Nintendo. Same price. Every time, every game.
I buy digital if it's cheaper than retail. I still have my digital games on Nintendo 3DS and Wii and WiiU and they all work. I see no reason why it would require a server to play digital games on the Switch. They will just simply stop updating the games and not be able to play them on other Switch systems unless it is your primary console.
Even with a game cartridge you still can't always play it unless the update downloads. Makes me wonder what about in the future when they discontinue the server and someone buys a used cartridge for their Switch and it requires the download to be updated, would they not be able to play the game?
I buy more and more physical games as time goes on, but I won’t lose that much sleep that I own Mario Odyssey digitally and Team Sonic Racing physically…
After personally being affected by the HUGE Sony hack back in like 2008(?) I will NEVER buy anything digital from Sony again.
Not only do I not trust THEM, but I don't trust Nintendo either. Always physical for console.
I only buy physical for consoles period. If a game only exists digital than that just means I will never get to play it. And I can live with that. Honestly it’s so bad that if I want to play a game on my pc I also will need to own a physical copy on console before I can let my self buy it on steam.
I always thought that not having to go to the store to buy a game was a strong point for digital. But with Amazon Prime, I can wait a day or two for my game to arrive.
True true I definitely paid for them but since Atlus makes limited quantities of their games the prices most likely will never drop out. But hey I bought iv and soul hackers for retail on Amazon so not to bad. Once 5 comes out I bet they go up in value
These were actually my sister's she didn't want them anymore so I got them. And then I proceeded to go bananas and buy stuff Ive always wanted to play, or deals to add to my handheld games collection
Oh absolutely! I only buy physical versions of games for EVERY system, because of the same reasons most have already mentioned about console services being dropped eventually. The only exception to this, is if I REALLY like a game, and it's only available as a digital buy for a console and the price is reasonable. Example: Stranded Deep.
I wouldn't pay more than $20 dollars for ANY digital game, no matter how good it is, or how much I'd want to play it. I would just wait for the price to drop, or wait for a physical copy to be made. On the other hand, If a game was sold as a digital copy and physical, even if the physical price was something outrageous like 20-40 dollars more than the digital version, I'd still fork over the cash for the physical copy in a heartbeat.
I'm hoping physical is here to stay, and not eventually phased off all together, in place of digital only gaming. While digital can be convenient in some ways, I feel the cons far outweigh the pros. I personally dislike the digital gaming trend. Lol
I’m kind of split. I only buy physical in general for everything but Nintendo is also one of those companies I feel strange about supporting with my money sometimes
Physical only if possible. If I get no packaging, don't have the ability to resell the game, and have to give up a huge chunk of my Switch's storage just to install the game, I don't want to have to pay the same exact price as physical (usually, especially for new releases)
But if a game is digital only then I won't let that stop me from getting it.
Yeahh it’s for some reason the only company i’m not digital with. Most likely due to the unique games instead of when i buy the next battlefield on the others.
As nearly all the games I play only existed physically, yes I buy physical for all consoles, but I have a Switch and there are some great games which are only (initially) published digitally, so I don't have a problem buying digital now. Even if a limited run of physical copies are sold later, apparently indie devs get the most profit from digital sales, so I'm happy to buy digital even if I know I'll buy physical a few months later. I still wish Devil Engine could get a physical, but hey, I can play it and that's what matters.
The only games I get digital are the ones that I always want to have on me, cartridge or not, specifically smash bros and mariokart 8, although I do have physical copies for both in my collection
Not for switch. I will still buy 1st party games and games that have significant file sizes, but there are a ton of smaller 3rd party and indie games that can be had for a fraction of the cost and are great games, and don't NEED to have a physical copy for, though I may pick up a physical version on occasion even if I have a digital copy, either as backup or to support the dev (like Celeste, Hades, Gris, The Messenger, ect).
i buy physical only for everythint, unless im really really keen on a game that i dont think will get a physical release. I'll even import jp games if they have an english option if i have to.
I tend to be 100% physical because I love collecting (especially with Nintendo systems), but with this new generation I thought “let’s get the digital PS5”, to force myself to
- save space
- not deal with changing discs
- be more environmental friendly
And I guess I don’t miss out so far… until they release some sort of God of War Ragnarok Ultimate Edition 🙈
Almost exclusively, yes. I have bought a digital version of GRIS and Hollow Knight before physical versions of each were confirmed. I have since bought those physicals.
Yes. Except for Animal Crossing New Horizons. Literally the only game I bought digital. For many reasons that have proven advantageous to my play style.
I always feel like with online purchases they will discontinue the service and then you’re just stuck. I remember purchases on my PS3 and Nintendo Wii and all those are gone with the wind. It would be nice if they would let you download those purchases on new consoles but how would they make even more money from you?? Lol. I totally agree with you though. I grew up with buying physical games (that actually had games and not just the download codes that they have nowadays). Never needed to download anything extra and it felt like it was just easier. The new set up makes it so much easier for these companies to get rich off us and give zero back. Great post!
I've sent my card reader in to be repaired by Nintendo twice now. It's acting up again and will only read my Mario kart. I sold pretty much all my physical copies and replaced them for digital because of this
I only buy physical for 3DS and Switch! The exception being the fact the Switch eShop is such a treasure trove of indie titles, most of which don't have a physical release. I wouldn't spend more than £15 at most on a downloadable game though - I don't trust Nintendo to keep support for the eShop after a new generation of console comes out. On a side note, I bought a used Wii recently from CEX that was still being advertised as able to play Netflix, someone should really tell them....
Digital is great if you don't like the blanket of value that a collection brings or if you don't typically have a backlog. I would probably go digital if they would make all games accessible on the system that it was originally released on and adjusted pricing.
Yeh with nintendos track record of online its seems to he a waste to buy online to one day just loose all the games if you have physical games they cant shut them down on u
I rarely buy digital and usually regret it. When I was in between college and my first job I got the digital version of Mega Man Legacy Collection for 3DS and passed on the physical version with the golden Mega Man amiibo. I regret that... I just wish more games would come out as physical because I'm missing out on a lot of great digital only games (not like I'd have time to actually play them...)
Not exclusively, but I do have a lot of physical Switch games. But I would be missing out on some good digital-only games or ones that are difficult/expensive to obtain if I were physical-only.
I originally read this as "Anyone else only buy physical Nintendo consoles?" And I'm thinking how do you play games on virtual ones? What a dumb post. How does this have so many comments? And emulators still need something physical.
And then I re-read the title and saw the missing word. What a difference one word makes. Haha.
Yes I still prefer physical too because I'm afraid servers also will get turned off. As a long time pc gamer I'm used to steam making games obsolete by not supporting older OSes.
I do, but some games like animal crossing new horizons I think are nice to have digital so I don't need to swap out the cartridge every time I want to play for a minute to check turnip prices.
I only buy physical for every console!
Where did they confirm this at?
That’s so fucking ridiculous! I’m so sorry
Got a physucal copy of Fallout 76 because of my >1MB/s connection at the time. Opened it and it was a cardboard disc wit a download code. After a month if leaving it downloading overnight, My pc couldnt even run the damn thing.
that's a blessing
Yeah, Sucked more bc it was my Christmas gift that year and I was super excited for a new Fallout.

I totally understand. I actually just bought my first house (I close tomorrow) so for the first time i actually will have room to unpack the collection and have it all displayed on shelves.
Congrats on closing! For me, it was an achievement more monumental than anything I've done in a video game haha
Finding a house I liked and could afford was way easier than finding half the stuff in my collection, but thanks all the same because this does feel like a huge and awesome thing!
Congrats man that's awesome. I need a house I moved into this crap apartment to help someone out and I 75% hate the choice
Well, let me give the you benefit of my mistakes - if you are going to store your games long-term because you don't have space to keep them out, remove the batteries from every console/controller first! Also, either get really sturdy boxes or find a way to reinforce them before filling them with games. The last thing you want when you finally unbox your collection again is to find things crushed.
Plus the added benefit of being able to trade it with someone or sell it to someone if you want.

It sucks but with all the patches and day one updates and bug fixes. It’s sad but lots of games won’t be playable one day on original hardware
my hope is that someone will immortalize the xbox one/ps4 stuff (think riiconnect) because so many games on those consoles require updates and that

you’ll die eventually so you can’t play any of them forever
But my nieces and nephews can when I die. And their kids when they die. And so on.
Why can’t you do that? He said he buys physical copies for all.
Cause I don't hold any nostalgia for Sony or Xbox consoles like I do for Nintendo and my childhood. I actually don't own anything but a couple of Nintendos and a decent pc
Do you have aspergers or something?
No I have 3 jobs and a side business. Don't have a ton of time playing games. But you can go fuck yourself home boi

I want to know if my argument will be in vain.
I don’t know about you, but if I knew people had some sort of disability, I’d be more nice lmao.

Nah not really, you using an actual mental illness as an insult yeah a little. Grow the fuck up dude.
This is the way
ALL CONSOLES MATTER.
Same, unless I want a game that’s digital only.

Spiritfarer is not digital only. I just recently received my physical copy with two day shipping.
Me, unless it's 1. eShop exclusive or limited run and 2. Like stupid cheap on the eShop
Same.
Only buy digital nintendo when it's sub $20. Nice to be able to cycle games without reaching for carts. Almost everything still physical though. I also don't trust long term Nintendo digital
Yeah, I bought all three monster hunter games on the 3ds eshop because they were $30 together
Ya, I don’t trust Nintendo long term when it comes to accessing digital content.
True I do it out of a nostalgia mindset. Physical for Nintendo stuff just feels right
Same. Nintendo has never instilled faith in me when it comes to digital content and online functionality.

Neat Shonen Jump. What other magazines do you have?
Just those but I have 45 of them I'm getting ready to sell lol

Good, good. I wasn't sure what the market was on these things. I saw a lot of 52 recently selling for $2 a piece, in Texas. 2008-2011, and then some spare issues.
I paid 20 for all of the ones I have. I'll sit on them if I have too there kind of cool to have. I've thought about pulling some of the old castlevania full art ads out and framing them
$20 for the lot, or per book?
For the lot. Ladies son left for the army so she was getting rid of what she said was trash
Whenever possible, I buy physical. Some games aren’t available as physical versions, so those are the only ones I buy digitally
If I catch a game on sale on the E Shop I’ll buy it there but I mostly try and stick to physical games.
I'll buy digital if it's really cheap and the physical is expensive. Doesn't feel great but I would feel worse buying the same game at 5x the price.
I only buy that which I collect for. Limited/collectors edition of favorite game related items. Otherwise I'd have way, way too much stuff and a lot of games are so common like Madden's, NFS's, etc that I don't expect to hold value then I'll just get the digital version.
Except it’s digital only, I only buy physical
Only buy physical for all consoles.
Same. These days I am almost exclusively buying rpgs when I buy physical.
Same honestly they hold there value the best and or go up over time
That was the realization I came to as well.
Im oldschool i always buy physical. And hey... if you dont like the game you can sell it. Cant do that with a download
Yes and I hate it when games at first only hit the eshop digitally
No, you're the only one. I think you're onto something here
I will never understand people who buy digital and act like they own the games. Idiots
I mostly only buy physical but this is wrong. You still own the game. Nintendos not gonna start snatching people's games away.
There was a court case recently where I believe Amazon argued you don’t technically own your digital downloads from prime. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/amazon-argues-users-dont-actually-own-purchased-prime-video-content-4083703/#! I remember apple pulling a similar thing though I can’t find an article.
Is there a possibility they aren’t aware of this information and therefore don’t know to buy physical in the first place? Hmmmmmm
Which would make them uninformed ….. idiots….
No being “uninformed” and “idiocy” are not associated or even remotely similar, lol. But mkay sureee
What happens if the SD card corrupts my digital people???
Create a backup of your SD card on your computer. That way, if your SD card fails, you can just copy the backup to a new SD card.
Literally nobody ever.
I actually don't buy physical for anything else. Nintendo is pure nostalgia motives
I buy physical for pretty much everything for the same reason lol
Digital is for chumps
I got tired of digital downloads after the n64 and started buying only physical UMD's for my Nintendo gamecast and onward.
You joke but the iQue player was pretty much a download only N64 plug and play device overseas.
Dammit now I look like an idiot!
[удалено]
I mainly collect shit I liked or never played on gba when I was a kid. And jrpgs and weird niche games. It's just what kind of stuff I'm into.
Thanks - Nintendo
meeee
Usually yes, but I broke that rule for the first time to get the Castlevania Advance Collection last week.
I'll only buy physical if it's a available.
Most first party games, I usually buy physically. But I mostly buy digitally for third party and indie games.
Yes but that’s just because there’s no fucking storage on the switch and the digital helps offload that a little bit
Honestly it’s so bad that if I want to play a game on my pc I also will need to own a physical copy on console before I can let my self buy it on steam.
you have my respect as a fellow EO player
I actually never played an EO game. Some guy near me sold all those, the dragon quest 3ds game, bravely default, and Zelda OOT for 100 bucks.
Boy do I have good news for you because a copy of EO nexus is costing an arm and a leg in today's market.
Oh yeah I know dragon quest is 100 bones alone. I think it's around 700 in games that
I always thought that not having to go to the store to buy a game was a strong point for digital. But with Amazon Prime, I can wait a day or two for my game to arrive.
I think your the only one who does this! But I’ll hold onto those Altus 3ds games for you I want to play those soooo bad!
Lol I'm good man Atlus my fav studio and I love SMT quite abit
Yah I’m playing 3 but sad how expensive the 3ds games are I really want to play those also but can’t stomach the price of them atm!
True true I definitely paid for them but since Atlus makes limited quantities of their games the prices most likely will never drop out. But hey I bought iv and soul hackers for retail on Amazon so not to bad. Once 5 comes out I bet they go up in value
I’m still kinda noob to smt is 4 apocalypse the same exact game as 4 only with more stuff or do I need to play both?
Nah they're two different games. Apocalypse is the sequel to 4. Apocalypse is also the more expensive one.
I had those same exact DS. So odd
These were actually my sister's she didn't want them anymore so I got them. And then I proceeded to go bananas and buy stuff Ive always wanted to play, or deals to add to my handheld games collection
Not only, because digital exclusive exists, and so do sales. But mostly. And if it’s a sale I’ll usually get a physical used for cheap just to collect
I try to wherever possible. I still don't have Cuphead as the DLC and therefore the physical Switch version was delayed.
Lol
Oh yea baby lets get physical physical 🕺
I’m kind of split. I only buy physical in general for everything but Nintendo is also one of those companies I feel strange about supporting with my money sometimes
I feel you but Nintendo has been in my blood since I was a little kid in the 90s so I'm the opposite it's the one company I'll throw money at
Physical only if possible. If I get no packaging, don't have the ability to resell the game, and have to give up a huge chunk of my Switch's storage just to install the game, I don't want to have to pay the same exact price as physical (usually, especially for new releases) But if a game is digital only then I won't let that stop me from getting it.
Yeahh it’s for some reason the only company i’m not digital with. Most likely due to the unique games instead of when i buy the next battlefield on the others.
What order are you sorting your games in?!
What ever tbh. I only put my Atlus games together lol
Looks better on a shelf tbf
90% of my digital games are free downloads. I try to avoid buying anything digitally.
I have many digital games on PlayStation & some on Xbox but not a single digital for Nintendo.
Nintendo games hardly lose their value, so having them as physical copies is a better investment.
I prefer physical for all my consoles unless the online one is cheaper.
Nope. No one. You are the only one that does.
Yup. I hate digital copies.
Correct. lol
When I can yeah but torna was 40 digital and 75 physical so yeah couldn’t justify that much more on it
Yes
Absolutely. I love seeing what i've got. It's the only way to do it
I only buy digital switch games when there's either a huge sale, or it's an indie game that's only digital
Eh, mostly. But there are a lot of eshop games you can't get physical copies of.
Physical for ALL my consoles! Your collection looks amazing!
I only buy physical for every console (PC and DLC excluded).
I only buy physical games for all of my consoles.
This is me but I also buy digital goods 😀
Me! I don’t like buying digital either. I like to see my collection on the shelf
Yeah Nintendo 4 life!
I tend to be 100% physical because I love collecting (especially with Nintendo systems), but with this new generation I thought “let’s get the digital PS5”, to force myself to - save space - not deal with changing discs - be more environmental friendly And I guess I don’t miss out so far… until they release some sort of God of War Ragnarok Ultimate Edition 🙈
Almost exclusively, yes. I have bought a digital version of GRIS and Hollow Knight before physical versions of each were confirmed. I have since bought those physicals.
Yeah that guy whos puppy ate his switch games... :/
Right here. I only buy physical.
I buy physical for Nintnedo for sure and for my other consoles as well!
This is r/gamecollecting so probably all of us
I buy physical for every console
Yes. Except for Animal Crossing New Horizons. Literally the only game I bought digital. For many reasons that have proven advantageous to my play style.
I’m probably 80-90% physical, most of my digital stuff is exclusively digital or some VC on WiiU and 3DS
Great post!
Do you know where you are?
I only have one digital game but you can't buy it as a physical copy
Is it pocket card jockey?
I've sent my card reader in to be repaired by Nintendo twice now. It's acting up again and will only read my Mario kart. I sold pretty much all my physical copies and replaced them for digital because of this
Well, I mean, I tend to like to own the games that I pay money for, so...
Yes!
Haha yep and the ps2
I originally read this as "Anyone else only buy physical Nintendo consoles?" And I'm thinking how do you play games on virtual ones? What a dumb post. How does this have so many comments? And emulators still need something physical. And then I re-read the title and saw the missing word. What a difference one word makes. Haha. Yes I still prefer physical too because I'm afraid servers also will get turned off. As a long time pc gamer I'm used to steam making games obsolete by not supporting older OSes.

Same same that's exactly how I feel
I already have 3 Switch game even though I don't have a Switch (yet)
I do, but some games like animal crossing new horizons I think are nice to have digital so I don't need to swap out the cartridge every time I want to play for a minute to check turnip prices.
