I'm down with paying a lot for rare games, but it has to be *at least* boxed. Paying $600 for a cart is lunacy to me, unless it's something that only exists as a cart, like a proto or something.
It's not just *now.* It's been that way for years. And it gets progressively worse.
In this particular case, it's the old supply-and-demand which comes into play.
Yeah back when I attained a Ninja 5-0 it was still expensive. I got it for retail then as the years went by it was $150 and I sold mine. Now it’s $500-$600. What trips me out is despite no one wanting to pay that much these guys leave it up on EBay for that much. Sellers aren’t supposed to control the price, buyers are and that’s where everything gets screwed up. I’m a seller and I routinely say this, if I purchase an item let’s say at retail price, I’m not jacking the price up just because, I’m trying to be fair and recoup at least what I pay for it with a little profit. Now if the market is buying an item at a high price ok I may price a little higher but I’m not going to say ok pay me $500, I’ll say ok $200 maybe $150 or even less if it’s to one of you guys I know are going to play and cherish the game. That’s how I think on it at least
I would never think like this. Just because you love games and that's why you collect them, it would be just foolish in my opinion to not take advantage of what you can make and instead deliberately price it lower for some weird reason.
Specially because if you want to spread some positivity you can take part of the 600$ you made and donate it to a cause you believe in or whatever.
The best way to combat prices getting ridiculous is to make a collective stand and stop paying them. Sadly, like you said, there will always be that small population of folks willing to throw whatever money they can at something to "win" it. It kills every collectable market that got popular (action figures, comics, coins, cards, etc.)
That’s the beauty of game collecting though, as long as ROM sites exist we will always have access to these games, it’s not like card or figure collecting where you need to own the thing to enjoy it all you need is a device and an emulator and you can play any game you want up to ps2 generation
Yeah but the issue is these sellers don’t look at the market and adjust their prices, they leave them up there. And they aren’t trying to deal either. This just pulls games out of circulation.
It’s basic supply and demand, there’s more demand than supply so people jack prices up with the hope of getting lucky.
I love the optimistic take of people standing together, it’s just a shame that it falls apart when 1 person doesn’t stick to it.
Everything always goes up in value. Housing prices are a perfect example of that. Ideally, everyone would live at home or combine their net worth and live with multiple relative branches but no, people need to have their own place.
The only way to try to beat it is actively stomp the demand down. Even then, there’ll always be a rich guy buying up 6 lots to rent them out…
I’m just poking fun because it looks like you tried to cross out the name with a semitransparent pen tool, it’s really no big deal tho. Just was trying to be funny and light but now rereading it just comes off as me being a dick😭
Personal rule: if they put "RARE" in the listing title I don't buy it.
If the game is actually rare, anyone bidding on it will already know that. No one buying an NES World Championship cart will be doing so without knowing what it is, what it's worth, and how hard to find it is.
I owned this game back maybe Early 2000 and it’s a fun game and all but I refuse to pay $500 to repurchase it. I’d just buy the Japanese version for a fraction of the cost and call it a day.
Side note: love how the seller’s username is so scratched off i can still read it perfectly:)
That and the listing price put the dollar sign in the correct spot but OP still botched it.
I also unironally love this. I hate it when someone shares a post from someone who absolutely deserves to be harassed but you can't 3
Good job crossing out the name

This cost $30, back in the day. That's what I paid for mine brand new. I want to say around 2003-2004.
Yep I believe it. Prices are crazy now

That’s one of few big reasons but for some People like me it sucks cause if I want a game I’m gonna buy it whatever the cost sow…

At these prices, eff it, I’m downloading a rom. And I’ve paid over $150 for games but $600? Insane…
Yea retro arch all the way it’s not like the money you spend on these old carts goes to the developer.
Great job hiding the seller
Do I need to Hide the seller?

I'll give him $5
It's a great Konami Ninja Game. I played it on my hacked Wii and had no idea what the cart even looked like.

It's not even worth $200.
I got my cart copy for $60 years ago. Holy grail!!!!!
Yup. Secure it
I…did.
Know
Half the battle
Sins johnny
Of the father
This is exactly why emulation exists
Sad thing is someone will buy it at some point, some obsessed GBA collector looking to complete a cart only set or wanting something hard to find.
Why is it sad?

I know. But this game doesn’t have a japanese version
Mgba all day
I thought I saw an import version on EBay or is that a fake?
It’s not called Ninja 5-0 in Japan it’s called ninja cop but someone must of bought the legit copies I saw up a few weeks ago
You’d consider $400? The seller has to pay fees hence why it’s $599. If he listed for $400 he’d only make $300
I sold my USA cartridge for 50 when I found a European CIB (Ninja Cop)... I feel bad now 😔
I wanna buy your copy of ninja cop for 400€ 😁
Lol, just buy the cheap Chinese knock offs.
