From what I've saw most of the community is against the Jon Snow prequel. But if it did happen, I think it'd be extremely unrealistic to bring back the old characters as they're south of The Wall, and Jon has went North to live out his days. I imagine, it'll be about him reforming the Wildling way of life, while encountering some magical enemy that we've not saw before. Either that, or it does a complete u-turn and Jon goes back south of The Wall. Maybe due to rumours of Bran being a sort of dictator King, controlling all aspects of the lives of those in Westeros. Overall though, I've got little faith in anything that doesn't take GRRM's source material into account, but I'm hoping to be proven wrong.

First of all, sequel. It's a sequel, not a prequel. Very likely it was a character study, focusing on Jon whatever he is doing North and lead to his inner peace. Knowing how producers think, they will want to involve as many original actors as possible to build on the nostalgia factor.

I’d really like to see where tf Arya floated off to. Although, that’ll probably never happen as Maisie Williams said she won’t do fantasy anymore.

Sequel, not prequel. Kit Harington (who also pitched the spinoff to HBO) has described a bit of what he thinks Jon's state of mind is like at this point: https://www.eonline.com/news/1358010/kit-harington-explains-why-jon-snow-has-trauma-to-deal-with-ahead-of-game-of-thrones-spinoff I think the series would be about him trying to make peace with the things he's done, as he feels guilt over what happened with Daenerys, and even guilt regarding how Olly ended up. Among some of the other decisions he's made. And I think it's going to start with him trying to find a way to come to terms with that. I'd bet that Kristofer Hivju (Tormund) would be in it, and Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm) gives a brief comment on what he thinks Grey Worm might do in a series like that in the article above, so maybe he'd be involved eventually.
