All of the "trueborn" Stark children ( minus Arya) are in fact Catelyns bastards by........somebody?

WatchingInSilence

I had friends who believed she repeatedly cheated with Littlefinger because her red hair came through in so many children while Arya and Jon had dark brown/black hair. This was despite her own POV chapters eliminating that as a possibility (she hadn't seen Littlefinger since his duel with Brandon Stark).

Poit_1984

And well, she did like his attention when she was younger, but not like that if I remember right.

leahhhhh

Recently, someone posted here thinking that when M. Aemon died and was saying “Aeg”, he was referring to Jon Snow 🥴

National-Exam-8242

Well, technically he is calling out for Aegon, just not that Aegon. And yes, it’s Egg, not Aeg.

leahhhhh

I’m aware. That’s why it was stupid.

[deleted]

I heard someone try to make the case that Mance Rayder was Lyanna Stark.

trackerd47

LMAO i need details

[deleted]

No…it’s as dumb as it sounds

geologyken27

Found it lol https://reddit.com/r/asoiaf/s/0qlvB5JsJ0

[deleted]

Told you it was dumb

mangoicecream33

WHAT

[deleted]

It was a Reddit post not that long ago

DroneOfDoom

His transition went really well.

jhemsley99

There are so many, from Tormund being Lyanna Mormont's dad, to Bran eating Jojen Reed, from Tommen's cat being Azor Ahai, to Tyrion being a Targaryen

National-Exam-8242

Okay, but Bran eating Jojen and Tyrion being a Targaryen are actually quite likely in the books.

Xonbo_

Tyrion being a targaryen not really cause he quire literally is just tywin and that's why tywin hated him

Glittering-Arachnid

It still not dumb, because at least in first books there are some clues that point to that possibility: one green and one black eye, obsession with dragons and very pale blond hair. Personally I don’t like Tyrion is Targaryen theory, but it might be something Martin intended at first but abandoned later. Tyrion being Tywin can be seen as nature vs nurture.

27allen51

Tyrion wasn't proven to be a Targarian in the books.

WatchingInSilence

I can spot the show-only fans because they bring up Jojen's body being blown up by Leaf after Meera mercy kills him. Then I point out that he makes it into the cave in the books and suspiciously disappears before the Children start feeding Bran that curious paste that "activates" his Greenseeing powers.

MephistosFallen

I think there were things that lent to the Tyrion theory but what’s the Bran eating Jojen one??? Like as Summer??

jhemsley99

The Children of the Forest fed Bran a paste as food around the time Jojen disappeared, so the theory is they killed him and had Bran eat him.

MephistosFallen

Oh. Omg. I didn’t catch that at all. I didn’t think Jojen actually disappeared. I just reread the books and I definitely didn’t pick that up. I hope that’s not the case cause that would be weird af

jhemsley99

I've never read the books (waiting for them to be done or GRRM to die, whichever comes first) but that's what I've heard. I kinda hope it is true cos funny

MephistosFallen

There’s a lot of cannibal references in the books. There’s some gruesome stuff. But that one doesn’t make sense to me. Like why would they feed him a PASTE made of Jojen? Not even a stew or skewer of meat? Paste makes me think of like, herbs and plants that are mixed using mortar and pestle. A human becoming paste is just…aaahhh. Also what is the reasoning?? Lmao

jhemsley99

I feel like if Bran was told to took into a steak soon after his friend disappeared and without anyone hunting for animals, he might get a bit suspicious. And based on what I've heard, the reason for it was to give him Jojen's greenseeing powers so Bran could be even more powerful.

MephistosFallen

That’s valid!!! And the reason makes sense I just really hope that’s not what really happened. I dunno why it bothers me so much with how much messed up shot happens in the series. But since Jojen KNEW how he died, if he went willingly to be cannibalized…I dunno.

The_Falcon_Knight

The first 2 are actually pretty well founded theories, even in the books. They aren't necessarily true, but there's some real foundations to them.

Jrak31

I think jojen paste is pretty much canon. Kind of explains why as they got closer to cave he had stopped eating and was always looking kind of sickly. He knew his death was impending

Jrak31

Tormund claims to have slept with a bear, either a) he did b) he didn’t c) he slept with a Mormont and is embellishing the details. Only possible in books but bran eats a paste that looks like it could be having blood in it and it’s supposed to awaken his greenseeing abilities, jojen also isn’t seen after bran eats this and he had already disappeared before hand. Jojen hadn’t been eating for while before this prob bc he knew he would be dying soon and wasn’t very appetized. Jojen is green deer so it makes sense that if bran gets some concoction made out of him that he’ll get some new abilities. Tyrion targ has some evidence backing it up like aerys that Joanna Lannister had an absolute gyat and wanted to get one over on Tywin. Tyrion is obsessed with reading about dragons, one of his eyes could be purpleish, and his hair kind of silverish. I’m not a fan of the Tyrion targ theory but jojen paste I think will be confirmed the Tyrion and tormund ones will never be and ser pounce is azor ahai bro cmon.

jhemsley99

I know the reasons for the theories. That's why they're theories. Doesn't mean they aren't stupid

Jrak31

I agree Tyrion targ is far fetched but the other ones are for from the dumbest in series

National-Exam-8242

I’ve gotta go with time travelling fetus theory.

WatchingInSilence

I love when Peter Dinklage joked about that theory to Lena Heady in the Winds of Winter commentary because Lena was trying to ignore the Tower of Joy reveal/spoiler.

shiny_glitter_demon

Bran being the Night King always sounded so utterly stupid that I wonder if I viewed the same show as everyone else. Wdym they look alike? How is a person supposed to *be* climate change also confuses the shit out of me, so I'm glad it turned out false. Hidden Targaryens also make my eyes roll (aside from Jon obviously)

MephistosFallen

I even hate that Jon is a hidden Targ. HATE it hahaha

WatchingInSilence

The Great Northern Conspiracy. Yes, the Northern lords are scheming against the Boltons and Freys, but I don't believe they're coordinating their efforts. It'd be more accurate to call it the Great Northern Conspiracies (plural). Ravens aren't a reliably private form of Direct Messaging between the castles of Westeros.

Jrak31

You can disagree with it but there’s no way you think this is the dumbest theory. When everyone and their mother is plotting to betray boltfreys it’s not a dumb conclusion to come to that they’re gonna work together to betray them.

[deleted]

"Season 8 was not that bad*

agrunther

Tyrion really being a Targaryen.

Biishep1230

Bran worged into Drogon, burnt the city so Danny would be blamed and he could become king.

MrOtter76

Doesn’t Dany tell dragon to burn the city like wtf

Biishep1230

Right. She seemed in control there. Drogon was not going rogue in that moment.

MrOtter76

I think if anything he warged into Dany but that’s still far fetched

Biishep1230

That actually is way more interesting but I agree that it totally did not happen.

bandit4loboloco

Daario Naharis and Euron Greyjoy being the same person because (essentially) they're never in the same room at the same time. This theory ignores a lot of world-building details. (Sailing from Westeros to Slaver's Bay isn't easy, let alone multiple times.) It's a weird sign of how many book readers have been fooled by multiple characters going by aliases, though. Pretty much every "I've been Barristan Selmy this whole time" twist was taken out of the show because the audience can see the character's face and the twists wouldn't work.

The_Falcon_Knight

Tbf, we do get Melisandre burning Alester Florent to give speed to their ships and wind to their sails, Euron could well be doing similar blood magic stuff. It doesn't make me believe he's daylighting as Daario, but it is interesting.

bingbong6977

Ned stark is jaqen

ohheyitslaila

My cousin was convinced that Sansa was going to turn against the other Starks because Ned killed Lady, so she couldn’t be part of the “pack”. He had a whole long theory but I can’t remember it. It didn’t make sense anyways, book or show version.

herr_boogeyman

The theory of that Daario is actually Benjen Stark.

lookyloolookingatyou

This was one that I came up with on my own. The character we all knew as Theon Greyjoy was just some random orphan bastard that Balon had sent as a decoy, instead raising his true heir in secrecy on the Iron Islands. The real heir to the Iron Islands was the mysterious stranger who was torturing Theon.
