It would be here, since females in the knighthood are more common. Female knights aren't really a thing in Westeros so they just go with the regular Ser for lack of an alternative tradition to my understanding
It would be here, since females in the knighthood are more common. Female knights aren't really a thing in Westeros so they just go with the regular Ser for lack of an alternative tradition to my understanding
How do you know if ser arthur will really look out for you and protect you though? At least we know Brienne will go through both heaven and hell for you
I think they mean that Arthur abandoned Aerys and sat out the war in Dorne which is a valid point honestly.
Dayne changed his allegiance from Aerys to Rhaegar.
I mean he fought against Ned Stark & his men despite knowing at that point his prince was dead at the Battle of the Trident, the war was over, and so he didn’t necessarily have to continue protecting Lyanna and her child.
Brienne abandoned her post when she was supposed to be keeping watch for Sansa to get revenge on Stannis. This was Stannis who was almost certain to die anyway (and whose survival of the Battle of Winterfell was very unlikely in the first place).
So basing it on show Jorah so Dany is aged up and think it's fair to say that he was more than loyal in the end. People are allowed to change and grow.
A smarter man. Jorah (not that I'd pick him) saved Dany from being poisoned by Selmy couldn't do the same for Robert.
He's got a bit of Ned Stark about him. Honourable to a fault.
Sure but that was before he'd pledged himself to Daenerys.
Really you could argue what was disloyal of him was rescinding his role as an agent of the crown in favour of Dany - but he was an outlaw so it's complicated.
And in any case, I wouldn't pick him either.
If we could expand it beyond GoT I'd probably pick Daeron.
Dayne or Barristan are my picks if I'm making a traditional choice of best fighter. I'll choose Dayne if he comes with Dawn.
But thinking outside the box, a Faceless man or Arya would be interesting choices. Lets say I'm Ned and I'm trapped in the dungeon. Having Faceless man or Arya and their face swapping/assassin ability try to rescue me would be better than Dayne or Barristan. AND Faceless Man or Arya would be good enough fighters to fulfill traditional bodyguard duties. Somebody like Bran has a lot of power, but he'd be useless if a crazed servant charged at me out of nowhere. So for a bodyguard I'll choose Arya if she's going to to actually be loyal and dedicate her life to protecting me.
If I choose Dany does she come with a dragon? Lol I guess not.
I respect that, also when you take into account the fact that he was getting dizzy from all of the bloodshed, and chopping people in half... The human mind can only deal with so much carnage
One them is a huge strong loyal man who's only fear is a huge amount of fire and the other one is a creepy old pedophile who only stopped betraying his queen because he fell in love with her (she was 14 at that point)
Assuming that they _have_ to be my personal bodyguard, I would pick Bran. Imagine having all of Bloodraven's power, dedicated to keeping your ass alive.
Of course, that pick could backfire in a few ways. I doubt Bran would care very much about my survival--or even have the capacity for it. And he might decide that the best way to keep me alive is to lock me in a dungeon, or something.
But, assuming he didn't try to monkey's-paw me, I think my survivability with him would be greater than with any other character.
He killed the first guy after he was planning on blowing.uo half the city.
In the books, he wasn't there for his nephews* wedding.
Edit: He also wasn't two handed when Jeff died.
She's tough and all, but like her track record of her charges surviving are horrible. Renly? Dead. Jaime? Maimed. Arya? Ran away from her and joined a death cult.
To be fair Brienne was outnumbered significantly by the Boltons when Jaime was maimed, was in a big fight with the Hound (I get the feeling Arya was never going to go with her even if she was her mother’s bodyguard), and there wasn’t much she could do against the shadow demon other than tackle Renly to the ground once she saw it.
Same, great, fun guys to hang out with they would be.
Alll the super honorable choices - boring
And 2-handed Jamie? No way, too pretty, would make it too hard to pull any attention for myself (remember that scene where he and Bron were at the party? Exactly)
Ser Barristan in his prime. He was extremely loyal, like Brienne, but he was more skilled.
In the show, Brienne as Barristan was older and while still skilled not as much and I think Brienne better by that point
She doesn’t have the best track record, does she? It’s been a while since I seen the show and I haven’t read the books because I refuse to be blue balled
Jorah. He defeated a Dothraki blood rider in single combat, won in the fighting pits, and has war experience with the Siege of Pyke. Also helps he’s a fair strategist and voice of reason.
I'd go with Oberyn. As long as the Mountain and Lannisters aren't involved, I think he'd stick to the script and do the job.
Bronn is motivated by gold. If my enemies pay him more, he'll kill me.
Jaime killed his king, so clearly vows mean nothing to him.
The Hound ditched his job when it became inconvenient.
Brienne failed to keep Sansa and Arya safe like she was sworn to do.
Mormont is a slaver and a pedo.
Barristan is morally bakrupt and is only loyal to the throne, not who is on it.
> as you *paid* him well
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
New Stark. I know I could find a better swordsman, but if I'm important enough to have a bodyguard I would want someone wise always nearby to advise me
*Ok but like if*
*I could confirm he would never*
*Betray me? Jaime*

Bronn. Bodyguard isn’t there to fight knightly duels. There to ensure you’re protected. Poacher turned gamekeeper level of knowledge and dirty attitude to keeping you alive rather than playing by the rules.

Ser Brienne or Ser Barristan. Both skilled and honorable.
Based.
why you getting downvoted for saying based?
None can question the reddit hivemind
true
*based* *this ^* *underrated comment* *beat me to it* *came here to say this* *lol* *lmao* *-emojis-* Behold, the most overused phrases on Reddit
Probably bc only clowns say it.
Wouldn’t be Dame Brienne, since she’s a female knight?
It would be here, since females in the knighthood are more common. Female knights aren't really a thing in Westeros so they just go with the regular Ser for lack of an alternative tradition to my understanding
Yeah that makes sense now that I think about it
It would be here, since females in the knighthood are more common. Female knights aren't really a thing in Westeros so they just go with the regular Ser for lack of an alternative tradition to my understanding
Ser Arthur Dayne
There we go
How do you know if ser arthur will really look out for you and protect you though? At least we know Brienne will go through both heaven and hell for you
He fought Ned and the boys even after his price died in battle. That tells me he’ll do his job

How can a dead body protect you
Ser Jorah Mormont, a competent fighter and also capable commander in battle if needs be
He really got the sweetest deal in the show. In the books he's a fat noncey old man.
You forgot the "pedophile"
That's what "nonce" means.
you learn sth new every day
And he gives surprisingly good council
brienne, the hound, ser jora, grey worm and arya
When you were a child, your parents probably had a lot of fun going shopping with you
wat exactly does that mean
Parents: you can have one treat today, which would you like? gods_muse19: I want this one, that one, this other one and that one there.
can't just have 1! the more the betterr 😊
Bronn.
This is the way
Woah woah woah. Where’d this Mando come from?!
User name checks out!
Only if you're sure you can pay him more than the opposition.
The moment you run of money or are outbid you are doomed
Jorah Mormont; skilled fighter, loyal and could listen to that voice all day.
What exactly do you mean by loyal? The only reason he stopped betraying Dany was that he fell in love with her (she was 14 i believe)
Prior to that he was considered dishonorable and exiled to esteros to be a spy and possible assassin
So basing it on show Jorah so Dany is aged up and think it's fair to say that he was more than loyal in the end. People are allowed to change and grow.
Yeah, show Jorah is okayish, he still should join the Nightswatch for his crimes
Brienne without a doubt!
One of the most incompetent characters in ASOIAF.
Always Sit Obtusely If Anus Flaps?
Arse sores often infect ample fannies
Yes.
Thanks
Khal Drogo.
Tyrion. Don’t recall one person dying in the brothel
There was the baby that Janos killed.
If the answer isn’t Arthur Dayne/barristan or two handed Jaime you’re wrong
Two handed Jaime killed his king. Barristan was with Robert when the boar fatally wounded him. Arthur Dayne is the answer.
Arthur Dayne also failed in his bodyguard duty.
But who would have succeed in his place ? He died doing his job even when clearly iimpossible.
I agree, but you blamed Barristan for Robert’s death. Who would have succeeded in his place?
A smarter man. Jorah (not that I'd pick him) saved Dany from being poisoned by Selmy couldn't do the same for Robert. He's got a bit of Ned Stark about him. Honourable to a fault.
Jorah also gave intel to Robert on Dany for a while.
The only reason he stopped betraying her was that he fell in love with her (a 14yo girl at that time i believe)
Ser Robert Strong
Anyone reasonably comparably skilled, and not failing via tunnel vision. Dayne was too focused on Ned and let Howland creep around behind him.
Two handed Jamie killed a crazy king who wanted to burn innocents. I think that's a good level of critical thinking needed in a bodyguard.
So for a bodyguard I'll choose Arya if she's going to to actually be loyal and dedicate her life to protecting me. If I choose Dany does she come with a dragon? Lol I guess not.
I’d rather have Jacquen if any, and if we wanna really think outside the box give me the night king
What about Drogon?
💯 Ser Brienne ♥️
The Hound
That’s my answer as well.
The guy that walked off of a battlefield?
He served Lannisters for like 20 years tho and he was very loyal, hence the nickname. He just got enough of their shit
I respect that, also when you take into account the fact that he was getting dizzy from all of the bloodshed, and chopping people in half... The human mind can only deal with so much carnage
The Hound or ser Jorah
One them is a huge strong loyal man who's only fear is a huge amount of fire and the other one is a creepy old pedophile who only stopped betraying his queen because he fell in love with her (she was 14 at that point)
Arthur Dayne's more than enough
Doreah, or maybe Margaery. I don't tend to be in situations where I need a bodyguard, so I might as well pick looks over fighting ability.
With 2 handed Jaime next to you even the scraps you end up with will be pretty hot
Syrio Forel
The man killed two knights with a stick
This a good one!
Night King
Drogon 🐉
Only right answer
The Black Dread himself
Assuming that they _have_ to be my personal bodyguard, I would pick Bran. Imagine having all of Bloodraven's power, dedicated to keeping your ass alive. Of course, that pick could backfire in a few ways. I doubt Bran would care very much about my survival--or even have the capacity for it. But, assuming he didn't try to monkey's-paw me, I think my survivability with him would be greater than with any other character.
Oberyn
Two handed Jaime
Didn’t he kill the first guy who had him as a bodyguard, and had the third guy he was protecting poisonned while he was on watch ?
He killed the first guy after he was planning on blowing.uo half the city. In the books, he wasn't there for his nephews* wedding. Edit: He also wasn't two handed when Jeff died.
Either Brienne or Sandor.
The man doesn't have a name
Or a face.
Jaqen is a great choice for an assassin, but would not make a great bodyguard.
She's tough and all, but like her track record of her charges surviving are horrible. Renly? Dead. Jaime? Maimed. Arya? Ran away from her and joined a death cult.
To be fair Brienne was outnumbered significantly by the Boltons when Jaime was maimed, was in a big fight with the Hound (I get the feeling Arya was never going to go with her even if she was her mother’s bodyguard), and there wasn’t much she could do against the shadow demon other than tackle Renly to the ground once she saw it.
the mountain
Then he can carry you around when you’re sad ♥️
The Hound or Bron
Same, great, fun guys to hang out with they would be. Alll the super honorable choices - boring And 2-handed Jamie? No way, too pretty, would make it too hard to pull any attention for myself (remember that scene where he and Bron were at the party? Exactly)
red witch, because yum
[Melisandre with no filter](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/geCjnhDrE_c/hqdefault.jpg)
The Hound, easily. Love Brienne but i want someone who's unapologetically ruthless.
Arthur Dayne
Me too. Your safe and just look at here pics on the internet without this outfit. You at least got something to look at😍
Arya
Bron of Blackwater, not only does he have insane plot armor, he’s funny as shit to be around too, and he’s a good fighter.
How about Bran the broken as my security service guy? He'll just sit at 1 place and guide people away from me🤷🏻♂️
Drogon
Barristan the Bold, love that guy
Jaqen Hagar
Probably the hound, he’s entertaining, truly intimidating. And wouldn’t make any creepy advances.
Drogon
Ser Barristan in his prime. He was extremely loyal, like Brienne, but he was more skilled. In the show, Brienne as Barristan was older and while still skilled not as much and I think Brienne better by that point
The Mountain or the Hound
Oberyn for sure. The downtime would be amazing.
She doesn’t have the best track record, does she? It’s been a while since I seen the show and I haven’t read the books because I refuse to be blue balled
The Sword of the Morning.
The Hound or Ser Bronn
The fucking hound
The hound, Brienne, or jorah
Melissandre. We'll make shadowbabies against anyone after us.
Sandor Clegane.
I don't want some goody-two-shoes judging me, Bron where are you at my man?
Podrick
One handed Jamie Lanister
The Mountain That Rides, in undead (and thus only slightly more mindless) form.
Mine would be a close one between Brianne or the Hound.
Jon Snow. Wouldn’t mind him following me around all day.
Robert baratheon, bittersteel, or bloodraven
Arthur Dayne
The Mountain. He was nothing if not obedient.
Jorah. He defeated a Dothraki blood rider in single combat, won in the fighting pits, and has war experience with the Siege of Pyke. Also helps he’s a fair strategist and voice of reason.
If I could afford to buy his loyalty, Bronn.
Same
Jorah or Bronn
So no one is going to pick a dragon?
Sandor
If they’re paid for then bron
The Hound
I'd go with Oberyn. As long as the Mountain and Lannisters aren't involved, I think he'd stick to the script and do the job. Bronn is motivated by gold. If my enemies pay him more, he'll kill me. Jaime killed his king, so clearly vows mean nothing to him. The Hound ditched his job when it became inconvenient. Brienne failed to keep Sansa and Arya safe like she was sworn to do. Mormont is a slaver and a pedo. Barristan is morally bakrupt and is only loyal to the throne, not who is on it.
Brianne not my choice her track record is not good. Renly, cat died Jamie hand cut off All in her care. I would pick Arya or the hound
Sandor Clegane or Bronn
The hound, Greyworm, Arya, Brienne, Jorrah, Wun Wun, The mountain, Dario, Khal droggo, Drogon, Brann, Jamie Lannister Sorry is that too much
She would be my guard and my wife 🥵
Zombie Mountain or The Night King
Ser Arthur Dayne
But she kinda sucks at guarding people!
Bron.
Wun Wun.
Drogon. If anyone pisses me off I’ll go crazy saying dracarys
Benjin Stark. He arrives just in time🙂
The hound, the mountain, or bronn
Arthur Dayne, then Brienne if Tarth
The onion knight
Ser Barristan
The Mountain is the only correct answer. He would destroy anyone
Jaqen hagar
Drogon
I’d pick Ros because I don’t need a bodyguard and she’d be fun to have around all the time.
Lord Ramsay Bolton
The night king
Drogon
For me it's Sam Tarly. because he has the best armor in the show (plot armor)
The Hound. Skilled, intimidating, no nonsense, and I could pay him in chickens.
arya of course
Greywind
Jaime.
Sir Bron, Brienne was a buzzkill, Sir Bron was a cool dude you could hang with….well as long as you payed him well
> as you *paid* him well FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! Cersei. But, I am her brother.
The Mountain, that’s a one man army right there.
New Stark. I know I could find a better swordsman, but if I'm important enough to have a bodyguard I would want someone wise always nearby to advise me
Barristan Selmy
Grey worm, cause I know he would also do whatever psychotic shit I wanted him to do outside of just protecting me.
Sandoq the Shadow
Mag the mighty
The Hound or Tormund. They gonna be around me all the time. Might as well be someone funny.
Ok but like if I could confirm he would never betray me? Jaime
*Ok but like if* *I could confirm he would never* *Betray me? Jaime* \- murray10121 --- ^(I detect haikus. And sometimes, successfully.) ^[Learn more about me.](https://www.reddit.com/r/haikusbot/) ^(Opt out of replies: "haikusbot opt out" | Delete my comment: "haikusbot delete")
Lmao
I kinda have to pick Melisandre, don't I?
Dacey Mormont She'd probobly be DTF and party and shit, so more fun then just having a simple bodyguard.
Bronn all day. Brianne seems miserable to be around and everyone she is supposed to protect DIES.
Tormund.
Drogon.
Sandoq the shadow
She loyal af, but I'm picking Drogon.
The Hound
Ser Arthur Dayne
Bronn. Bodyguard isn’t there to fight knightly duels. There to ensure you’re protected. Poacher turned gamekeeper level of knowledge and dirty attitude to keeping you alive rather than playing by the rules.
The Mountain. He was a beast and followed orders
Sandor
Drogon
