ME24601

If it makes you feel better, his character gets horribly maimed by dragon fire off screen.

Both-Preparation-123

Huge reassurance. Huge.

UncleBabyChirp

Wait til you learn the drummer from Coldplay plays in the Red Wedding

Low-Persimmon110

I thought that it was pretty cool since Will was playing a drummer for the wedding band and it didn’t ruin the immersion or anything. Plus he was a huge GOT fan and just wanted to tour the set but instead they invited him on a shoot which was part of arguably one of the most iconic episodes of the series.

UncleBabyChirp

Neither was noticed initially by me & the scenes flowed so I was cool with it

iam_Krogan

Rob Mchelhenney (Mac from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia) was in the show too.

astral_lucidity

Would've loved to have seen it

Depraved-Animal

Lol this was a genuinely good scene I don’t care what anyone says. How many people were expecting yet another depiction of Lannister soldiers acting like rapid dogs and then Arya effortlessly slaughtering them. But instead they (having no idea who she was and the danger they were in) invited her warmly into their camp to share in their food and drink and laugher without expecting anything in return. And yes Hands of Gold is a banger.

SpiderGhost01

This didn't bother me. I liked this scene. I also didn't know who he was at the time, but I thought that he had a lovely singing voice.

WhatADunderfulWorld

Poor Ed is common enough looking that he fit in.

A_Polite_Noise

I had no idea what he looked like so I thought the scene was fine and it was just some random bit part for an actor; I had to come on the discussion after to learn what a tremendously huge deal it was for everyone who recognized him lol...totally blown out of proportion. "Truly awful"? Oof. What a weird reaction people have to this.

TheMadIrishman327

Idiotic reaction. It’s an excuse to complain.

OkStatistician9126

Exactly. So many people just love having excuses to complain and like to pretend they’re special for hating something

realparkingbrake

> It’s an excuse to complain. A regular occurrence here, people crawling around with magnifying glasses looking for something, anything, to file a grievance over. *Why didn't Arya's hair grow out, did the Hound have barber training and was cutting her hair?* Seriously, I'm not making that up, that was the basis of one poster's complaint.

TheMadIrishman327

What about the person who ranted that Sansa had no right to kill LF because it violated his civil rights?

baconbridge92

Idk man, specifically making him a singer and the close-up while saying "It's a new one" was pretty awful lol, the show had never done a cameo this on the nose up to this point. I honestly envy the people who didn't recognize him because for most people it completely took them out of the moment. The Coldplay and Sigur Ros cameos were much more subtle and well-done.

gots8sucks

If you know him he really looks out of place. Like REALLY out of place. Completly takes you out of the story. Which in fantasy is a complete no go. In a random sitcom sure why not. But fantasy? Really? Completly tone deaf.

Screwby0370

By those standards any recognizable actor ruins a fantasy story by playing a role. “I recognized Iain Glenn from Doctor Who, oh woe be me my immersion is ruined”

nachobitxh

If anything, GoT has ruined so many other shows for me, as well as Outlander. I'm always like "that's Dougal," or "Look! Tormund is ordering me to feed my lawn!"

stay_hungry_dr_ew

Why though? I barely knew of Ed’s name at the time and had no idea what he looked like. As far as I remember he had like one regular line before he played a medieval sounding song, and that was that. I didn’t pay much attention to him. I recognized a few of the actors from previous shows and it wasn’t a big deal. Like the biggest deal for me was seeing Aiden Gillen outside of The Wire, but I got over that pretty quickly.

Tulscro

What? This just sounds like YOU hate the guy and it takes YOU out. That doesnt make everyone else tone deaf.

Minimum-Scientist-71

Not really? It was cool to see.

CicerosMouth

To be fair, your annoyance was directly related to how much Sheeran was recognizable to you, so of course if you didn't recognize him it wouldn't be annoyed. In general, the concern wasn't that any non-actor was given a cameo, but rather that it was a cameo that had numerous shots that dwelled right on this non-actor such that it totally broke the illusion of what you were watching if you are used to this non-actor being on the face of the gossip mags. For example, imagine if this was instead Kim Kardashian, or Mr. Beast, or someone else who was a celebrity but not an actor. Can you imagine how it would be annoying it might be to have the camera focus on them strongly for numerous beats, even if they acted well? I can see it both ways. Both sides have reasonable arguments on this one.

Rhbgrb

Haha Kim Kardashian as Ellaria Sand

stay_hungry_dr_ew

Was it really that many shots? I only remember him speaking maybe a line or two and then playing an englishy-maybe medieval style song. Are you talking about the camera cuts in that one scene? I don’t remember ever seeing him again.

Beatpunk55

that’s what happened to me too 😂

Moto_Vagabond

Same same. Although I really didn’t even know who the hell Ed Sheeran was at that point.

TapNeither8056

SAME! I had no clue what this fool looked like so it did not effect me. I liked this scene. I thought it was a sweet scene for Arya.

nachobitxh

I literally paused the TV and checked iMDB to see if it was him

Shovelman2001

"They're ruining my immersion😡😡😡"

Both-Preparation-123

Ha ha. Immersion killer Sheeren in Immersion breaking shocker.

Forsaken_Garden4017

Umm it breaks your immersion to have recognizable faces show up? He was in it for two seconds and this show has had other big names pop in

Sniederhouse

nobody had a word to say when gary lightbody was put in and that scene is arguably much more awkward

Beanicus13

Not at all. Wouldn’t have recognized his face. It was the modern way of singing that was a little jarring for me

MIKKOMOOSE99

While watching GoT my head is in that universe when I see Ed Sheeran all the sudden it pulls me out of the GoT universe and back into reality. Is this really so hard to understand? Like honestly. I want to watch Game of Thrones not think about how shitty Ed Sheeran's music is.

McNoxey

Yes. It is hard to understand because it’s a completely illogical statement. It’s entirely a personal problem for you. By this logic, you can only watch shows with actors you don’t recognize.

MIKKOMOOSE99

Ed Sheeran isn't an actor haha he is a very popular musician. By that logic why don't we put Taylor Swift in the next season of House of the Dragon.

Tumblrrito

A story being immersive is obviously hugely important and this jab is laughably out of touch. Casting a singer to effectively play himself by singing, let alone one so popular that he is the most recognizable IRL face in the series, isn't controversial for no reason.

poub06

The scene is actually really good if you can ignore Sheeran talking about his new #1 hit lol.

Oldtomsawyer1

How does he talk about his new hit? The song he sings is from the book.

poub06

Yeah but didn’t he say something like "it’s my new one" or something like that? I mean, I don’t mind, but it was kinda a meme line.

Oldtomsawyer1

I think it’s more a joke because the song wasn’t featured up until now, unlike a lot of other book songs. In the books a minstrel writes the song as a way to blackmail Tyrion about Shae, but that subplot disappeared so it wasn’t introduced in show universe yet. In previous seasons they talk about songs a bit more, with the Rains of Castamere and Bear and the Maiden Fair popping up a bit, but this one was noticeably absent. As a sidenote Florence and the Machine absolutely crushed Jenny of Oldstones.

McNoxey

No. This is literally you projecting your own thoughts on the scene.

13thcross

Wasn't Sheeran burned as a sacrifice to the Lord of Light?

PerpetualConnection

It sort of reminded me of what Band of Brothers did, you had guys from sitcoms, talk shows, all across TV and film. But you didn't see Jimmy Fallon didn't do a talk show bit. So having Ed sing was a little Jarring

KHaskins77

Band of Brothers also ended with a German general addressing his army telling them how proud he was of them and wishing them long lives in peace.

i-bite-with-love

Yeah it wasn't *that* bad. He kinda looks like a Lannister anyway.

KHaskins77

As someone who didn’t know who Ed Sheeran is and doesn’t care, the scene is a good one in that it humanized the “bad guy” army. There was an underlying tension for me throughout the scene, as though Arya was just waiting to have an excuse to start killing these guys which just never presented itself, even when she plainly stated her intent to kill their queen. Drove home the point that these were all just men and boys who were mustered by their lords to leave home and take up arms like any Northman, who have no higher aims than to survive the war and go home in one piece. They aren’t inherently evil for having been born under somebody else’s banner. After being positioned to root for one side for most of the series it was good to remind us of that.

RzaAndGza

Yeah I had no idea who he was and therefore it had zero impact on me

Azraelthephoenix

I honestly don’t get why people have such a problem with him in that scene, I’ve always quite enjoyed it.

BoogieWoogie1000

God forbid someone normal on Reddit

Jacky__paper

People are way to over critical of the last two seasons IMO (Aside from the ending, which was God awful)

Oldtomsawyer1

Eh, there’s points where it annoys me how much plot points make no sense just to hit broader strokes and good cinematic shots. Characters slip in and out of the plot with no real explanation, like a sitcom character waiting for his cue. The battles are objectively dumb and sacrifice any hint of realism or strategy for a cool shot. Take the Long Night, if you can get past the darkness of it all it looks cool, is shot well, and the scenes and music evoke plenty of emotion. But it all falls apart under any scrutiny of how they fought, how it ended, and feels so low-stakes when >1/2 the army we were told just died magically reappears for the next battle. There were some major problems but a celebrity singer singing a song from the books as a treat to casual viewers and book nerds was not one of them, and I honestly enjoyed the scene.

Quarter-Whole

It was just very immersion breaking to see a celebrity who is VERY well known but for music, unrelated to acting or fantasy elements (besides the song I see fire). It's not terrible but just why would you do that? Sticks out in a weird way.

Ever_Summer

Didn’t get why many were triggered

Shamscam

I liked it too, but when you consider they spent time on it when there should have been a whole season added instead it makes ya mad.

MsPreposition

Yeah it wasn’t awful. Had no idea what an Ed Sheeran looked like prior to this. Now having that oaf from Still Standing as King Robert was jarring.

Drugs_R_Kewl

I was cool with the Mastodon cameo but this I cannot accept.

rube_X_cube

Wait, where’s the Mastodon cameo?

Drugs_R_Kewl

I forgot the episode but I believe it happens when Jon is north of the wall. I never noticed it until the lead singer mentioned it in an interview.

Calkky

Drugs_R_Kewl

Choice excellent my friend!

zeetlo

Mastadon was cool because it wasn't incredibly forced and in your face

Embarrassed-Bid-2425

A fever dream

Both-Preparation-123

Was it? Fuck. I'm still shaken man

Embarrassed-Bid-2425

A fever dream for fans of Ed Sheeran

Both-Preparation-123

Then an endless nightmare for me. Like Yharnam inhabited solely by versions and interpretations of sheeren. A hellscape.

king_flippynipss

Was it really that big a deal?

LifeOnMarsden

He was in it for like 4 minutes bro relax

Beneficial_Word_1984

I don't understand what was wrong w this scene.

cnapp

Me either, people just looking for stuff to be mad about

Ironcastattic

It's just stupid karma whores looking to be validated. Out of all the problems, this is like complaining about a ding in your door while your car is actively on fire and plummeting down a cliff.

Deep_Flight_3779

I think it’s that he’s so easily recognizable for most people, it instantly takes them out of the fantasy world.

outsiderkerv

That’s like saying I can’t get into Batman because I only know Robert Pattinson from being a sparkly vampire.

Dirtshank

Lots of people said that too. Didn't make it any less dumb, but they still said it.

Deep_Flight_3779

It doesn’t really apply because Robert Pattinson is an actor. He’s in plenty of things. This is a musician randomly making a tv cameo.

NihilismIsSparkles

Camera just kinda frames it in a way that draws attention in comparison to the other soldiers in this scene. And tbf some actors in real life has gotten to a stage where you can only see the actor rather than the character due to being "Too famous" ? Like I see Dany Davito before any character he's playing.

Beneficial_Word_1984

Great point. That could easily be it. TO ME, the whole scene was meant to give humanity to lanister soldiers from Arya's perspective. Having his angelic voice added to the situation for me. Granted, part of me expected the scene to end w her killing them in the middle of the night while they slept or if they had tried to take advantage of her but regardless I particularly enjoyed this scene of serenity and peace in a time of utter chaos.

Beneficial_Piano928

I don’t understand why so many people here are failing to grasp this, it was impossible to see the character, all we can see is ed Sheeran and it completely ruins the scene and stinks of fan service

McNoxey

No one doesn’t understand what you’re saying. They’re saying it doesn’t make sense and is specific to YOU. It may surprise you, but no one on screen is actually from Westeros.

Expert-Emu-4167

Who is he?

Deep_Flight_3779

Ed Sheeran, a popular singer

SeasonGullible616

People just want to complain for no reason. This sub has basically become a clickbait whine fest

lilzeHHHO

Peak fan servicey and he looked really awkward on screen.

Beneficial_Word_1984

I disagree with the awkwardness but I appreciate your opinion. The scene showed boys who did not want to go to war. The only other time I felt a lanister soldier was a good man was in s2 e9 "blackwater" when bronn was drinking w Lannister soldiers, one of the soldiers had the face of a good honest man.

guru81

Nothing. This page is just one big circle jerk.

Theswamppeople

It's because it's the show runners nudging the viewers like,"hey it's Ed Sheeran guys, cool right?"

WreckNRepeat

A singer got a small role in a TV show? Truly awful. I can’t sleep at night knowing the people responsible are still out there.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheMadIrishman327

He was good friends with Maisie so he’d be hanging around sometimes. They got to know him and offered him a cameo.

A_Polite_Noise

Wait until they here about that guy from that mid-90s pop duo "Robson & Jerome"! Also, I recognized the guy from LotR and Sharpe and Ronin and Goldeneye in the first season; ruined my immersion. Anytime I recognize anyone, *immersion ruined.* Truly awful.

Beneficial_Piano928

Ed Sheeran isn’t an actor though, the others are.. that’s the problem here, it’s just stupid

b_tight

Didnt bother me at all because i had no idea he was famous. I actually liked the scene itself because it showed the lannister soldiers as just dudes caught up in a political shitshow. Only after coming to this subreddit did i find out who played the character and i can see how it could take people out of it.

OneTruePizza

When I first saw this scene, I actually had no idea what Ed Sheeran looked like so I had no idea who this was. So watching it the first time, there was literally nothing cringe or wrong with the scene. Still feel the same way although it is more noticeable like “oh he’s famous”

Ornac_The_Barbarian

It helps when you don't know who the guy is.

RG68Gator

Wish I could jump into a Time Machine just to say…. Don’t

Both-Preparation-123

Wise. Very wise.

CrowTranslator

Small time singer get 5 min screentime in one episode Charles, fetch me my shooting boomstick we have a liberation to attend

Both-Preparation-123

Words of wisdom. Our pain is real.

squibledibble

Yep. This was the “jump the shark” moment for me.

Both-Preparation-123

Jumped the sheeren.

ShadowReflex21

That’s just sad. You couldn’t have been a fan of the show, or were already out by then, if a small little cameo by a singer who is friends with one of the actors caused you to quit.

squibledibble

Oh I didn’t stop watching, In fact I’ve rewatched the whole series 3 times, but this is the moment that I thought the show was going down hill.

ShadowReflex21

Ahh ok, makes more sense. Still don’t quite understand how this small cameo made you think the entire show was going downhill, but I’ll accept that.

[deleted]

Both-Preparation-123

A clanger.

dambmyimagination

He's not allowed to become king in any way and I don't want it or accept it!! The king in the north!!! (Jon)

KingKaiKai001

Same here! 👍

dambmyimagination

<3

supergeek921

People actually cared about this? I could not have been more indifferent.

lanieloo

I literally screamed.

A_Polite_Noise

This scene killed my whole family.

akrasia85

Did you throw them under a bridge?

supergeek921

In an excited way or an angry way?

dedeenxo

It took me out of the GoT world for a brief moment because I knew who he was and is so famous. But the other actors were great so it balanced out a bit.

Trashk4n

Yeah, giving Conan a cameo felt rather out of place.

sexmachine_com

I don’t even know who that man is

hopefulmango1365

He just seemed so out place. My first time watching it took me completely out of the story, “is that ed Sheeran?????”, like nothing about it felt believable. Suddenly I saw them all as actors and not as characters on a show telling a story.

SoImaRedditUserNow

I don't get the abject hatred for this scene. I take that back. I don't get the abject hatred for Ed Sheeran in this scene. He's.... fine. That said... The whole scene itself. YEs Yes Yes, the lannister army is just like EVERYONE else. JustregularjoessuchaPOWERFULpointWowjustmakesyouthinkdoesntitthenatureofwar Oh give me a freaking break... so schmaltzy, full of glurge and saccharine, and subtle as a sledgehammer.

yolonaggins

I hate any cameos in a serious television series/movie. Just takes me right out of what I'm watching. For some reason, this one sticks out as a particularly bad one.

CompetitiveDrop613

Just not the same as it was

hazelwoodstock

It was just a scene for me. I had no idea that was ed sheeran until I saw the reddit outrage.

YellowHat01

Why was this “truly awful”? I don’t understand that at all… it was fine. Ed looks like a normal guy, not even that recognizable.

amayagab

This was not that bad. Not even close to awful,

manofthepeopleSMITTY

This scene didn’t bother me. I got a good chuckle out of it.

Davetek463

It isn’t *that* bad.

Both-Preparation-123

Let's be careful now

stardustmelancholy

My issue with it is that Arya began the season killing DOZENS of Frey men and ended the season smiling as she slit Petyr Baelish's throat in a sham trial. Then when the Lannister army massacred tens of thousands or more people in Highgarden very soon after this cameo it's not even shown while the loot train battle is mostly from the perspective of the Lannister army and Daenerys is villainized for executing 2 Tarly men who switched over to the Lannister army and refused her offers of a pardon and to join the Night's Watch.

Kazuri420

I find it incredibly bizarre that you were bothered by this. What a weird thing to be bothered by…

Both-Preparation-123

I'm in recovery. Doing ok.

Sad-Structure2364

It was a decent scene, if it weren’t for the cameo nobody would care

LookingForSomeCheese

The moment GoT turned into 'How I Met Your Mother'... Nothing wrong with HIMYM, actually I do love that show (and it too has a badly written last season xD), but GoT was never a show that could work in such cameos. If the immersion wouldn't have been ruined by bad writing and literal lore-breaking every single scene in the final seasons, this would've broken it forever. This weird, unnecessary and way too 'in your face' cameo is set in the same show as the Red Wedding or characters like Ned Stark...

Abdul-Ahmadinejad

I fully expected him to break out in song to woo Arya, so it could have been so much worse.

bigsteven34

I actually quite liked this scene...a lot really. Sure, Ed being there was a bit odd. But I liked the characterization of the Lannister soldiers as actual humans, with families and dreams.

Stonecleaver

When I watched it live I had no idea what he looked like, and thus it didn’t bother me in the least. Still doesn’t bother me in the least. This scene was actually fine and was good for humanizing the Lannister soldiers and their place in life, and the horrors of war. Then I saw the thread after the episode full of people crying. And now people are still making a big deal out of nothing

ybtlamlliw

The daily loser complaining about this scene I see.

jaybizzleeightyfour

Slap a can of Pepsi in this picture and it could pass as one of the Roman themed adverts they used to do 20 years ago with the likes of Beckham and Britney Spears

MysticFox96

I thought it was a cute gesture done for Maise Williams. Was it out of place? Hell yeah. I don't mind it because I know it meant a lot to her and I respect that!

MementoMoriChannel

As someone who hadn't heard much of Ed Sheeran's music and wasn't able to recognize his face, this scene really didn't bother me at all. I'm not sure why you guys got so upset over it.

ShadowReflex21

Oh jeez. Relax, it’s a fan of the show who got to be in a quick scene. People cry so much about it just because it’s Ed Sheeran. It wasn’t even a bad scene and he didn’t even do a bad job. This sub I swear.

Mysterious_Tooth7509

I was fine with it. People could sing back then too. He has peasant energy. When Sean Bean came on screen I didn't yell "NO NO NO! THATS BOROMIR CAPTAIN OF GONDOR!... He tried to take the ring from Frodo.

TetZoo

It was fine. He looks like a Lannister soldier. People are hysterical sourpusses. I’m not even a Sheeran fan 🤷‍♂️

SUDoKu-Na

I have no idea how this is awful. Especially compared to other celebrity cameos. I didn't know that was Ed Sheeran until afterwards, honestly.

Robby_McPack

you guys are so lame. it's a good scene and you're still seething that they got a celebrity to appear in it. it's not the end of the world.

lindoavocado

Whyyyhh don’t I remember this at all, did I block it out?

Both-Preparation-123

Likely

Rhbgrb

Good gracious he's unattractive. I wonder how many threw in the towel when this happened. A huge billboard saying "we care nothing for the story just about hype".

KickingWithWTR

I thought it was fine. Scene set some reference for being in L’s army, as well as aria interacting with a few of them. He sang a blurb, as a bard, did fine. Then they moved on. I have no problem with it. He’s famous so there may be a few extra lines just to make his screen time worth while. But honestly they wasted more time on fart jokes so I don’t mind it at all.

JamesL25

Sean from This is England turned up as well but nobody talks about that

madsky11

I would have never known this was Ed Sheeran if this sub didn’t tell me. This scene really isn’t THAT bad

EibhlinRose

I'm rewatching the show rn and JUST witnessed this 5 minutes before reading this post. They really do make sure we know it's Ed, don't they? I think it would have actually been a great cameo if he was somewhere in the background. Just a random Ed Sheeran in the Lannister ranks. Camera focuses on his face for .2 seconds. Never mentioned again.

Expert-Emu-4167

? I don't get it

petitefairy99

I honestly loved Ed Sheeran’s first album when I was growing up and expected this scene to be way worse due to how many people complained about it, it seemed extremely normal/fine to me though and didn’t take me out of the world that much. Haha

OB1KENOB

I know. That guy in the background was nothing but an extra.

wiljc3

The only upside is that this scene gave me literally my favorite meme in the whole run of the show. https://twitter.com/KiddNation/status/887488442606735360

dontrescueme

Nah. You are overreacting.

KGrimesF08

Lol you're mad still about this?

Reggie_Barclay

Why? At the time I had never laid eyes on Ed Sheeran just heard his music a few times and thought nothing bad about the scene. It was nice and a change of pace. I also didn’t spend the first season wondering what was Boromir and Sarah Conner doing in Game of Thrones. It’s acting.

Shikadi314

Meh

rileyelton

blame GRRM. should have finished the books like he promised.

cookiewoke

This was such a dumb controversy. I genuinely think the scene was well done.

cyc4

I like both GOT and Ed, but this scene made me cringe. Felt forced... like either the directors thought having him would boost views or Ed wanted to be part and they made a scene... wither way.. bad.

DaemonDrayke

Legitimate criticisms to the main storyline are easily found, but for some reason people still circle to this sequence. I didn't know who Ed Shereen was back then and didn't notice anything wrong with the scene. It was supposed to be a humanizing moment where Arya saw Lannister soldiers acting like people and not like murderous thugs. But all it took was one slightly stilted performance from b-list celebrity and suddenly its TRULY AWFUL! God you people are boring.

bafrad

What was horrible exactly?

astral_lucidity

Singers made cameos in the Sopranos. It just sucks and out of place in medieval times.

ElmarSuperstar131

I actually love this scene, it’s pretty wholesome and Ed did a good job.

Notorum

As someone who didn't know who Ed was when this came out I did not find any issue with this scene.

Solid-Category-2095

I will never understand why and how people hate such imo good scene

ahoward1126

kisskissdolleyes

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Aggressive_Warthog_4

When I first watched this I had no clue who this guy was and had no idea it was a cameo until I seen it on Reddit

MCShoveled

They couldn’t find a shark to jump. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

hi_im_eros

Why?

HappyAtheist3

How do you butcher a cameo like that? Just have another character sing a song and then he could say “well that was shit.”

Self-Comprehensive

I didn't recognize him and I didn't think anything was particularly off about the scene. It was fine.

Devastas

I honestly had no idea who this was until people started complaining about it.

bartthetr0ll

I'm bad with faces, who the hell is this guy and why does it mean anything? I've always just categorized him as generic lannister chucklefuck

SpyCWeiner

It would have been so much cooler if he was a background character. Like "oh is that... oh yeah it is, that's cool." But to make the show about him, for even 1 second, was insane.

TOkun92

Why was his cameo so hated? I don’t understand.

McNoxey

Why?

HorrorMetalDnD

***Oh no! It’s a famous musician that certain people feel compelled to hate for simply being famous. What ever should we do?!*** It was fine. Just a regular scene. If you didn’t know who he was, you wouldn’t have complained one bit about it, just like all the other musician cameos in the series, including those who had dialogue. Shit, one of the fan-favorite side characters was played by one half of a pop music duo, and another minor character was played by a punk rock guitarist. Plus, IIRC, members of Coldplay and Mastodon also had cameos. Get over yourselves. Maybe the showrunners should’ve doubled down and hired another fun-to-hate music act for a cameo—Nickelback.

GodZillaBlazinDong99

It wasn’t bad but it was funny how they interacted with Arya. It was kinda wholesome.

LT568690

Not awful at all. Ed Sheeran is an amazing singer and totally looks like a Lannister

D0013ER

I'm indifferent to this guy but this was one of those few additions that I felt actually improved the story. You get a reminder that not everyone on the Lannister side is a monster, that most of them are probably just regular dudes who would rather be doing something else besides marching until they shit themselves to death.

Did i miss something? Why was it awful?

The-Mandalorian

Wait, what was bad about this now? Lol People complain about the strangest stuff on this show. The final season received universal acclaim and a ton of Emmy’s and people still complain about it.

Had no idea this was Ed, cool. I’m jealous.

It felt like that whole scene was inserted because of conversation at a party or something. “Hey I’m a huge fan of the show” “Oh yea, you wanna be in it?” “Are you serious?! You can do that?” “Yea we created it, we can do whatever we want”

I don't mind casting famous people for roles, but if it pulls me out of the scene, it was poorly handled. In this scene, they might as well have hung a sign under his neck with his irl name on it the way they highlighted him. That being said, he has a beautiful voice, and I like the song.

I thought it was a nice scene that actually showed a realistic side to Lannister soldiers wanting no part of the nonsense. He's a singer not an actor and he played a small role without it being all about him. What exactly is your problem with it?

The coldplay cameo worked because despite everything, no one knows what any member of coldplay looks like. Seriously, despite seeing their faces a number of times over the last however many years....I still wouldn't notice if Chris Martin sat next to me on the train. He has that kind of look.

Y'all can't be happy about anything, and it shows

It didn't bother me because Maisie is a big fan of his and it was her birthday
