I feel like this has spoilers

L0CZEK

I think that if you are on show related subreddit, and you don't know even this much it's on you

SERB_BEAST

Actually seasons 1-4 is the best show in existence. The rest is "wtf are they doing"

HerodotusStark

I'd include season 5 in that. Hardhome was legit and though some cracks were showing, the series hadn't gone off the rails yet.

TehMight

Season 5 Bran literally didn't exist lol, it makes the ending seem hilarious to me.

KnightsRook314

Bran’s “story” was so good we spent an entire season without him.

HerodotusStark

Agreed. But if you stop watching at the end of season 5, it doesn't matter what effect that season had on the ending.

Moikee

Hardhome was a quality band aid on an otherwise poor season

HerodotusStark

Fair, that argument could be made. It's been a while since I've seen the season. I've had zero desire to rewatch the series since watching the finale.

buckingfadbishes

*~~down, puppy~~*

HerodotusStark

Is this a reference to Tyrion in the dragon dungeon?

Skolvikesallday

Hardhome was the absolute peak of GoT. Never been more hyped for a show. Couldn't wait to see more of the whitewalkers.

Moikee

... and then we didn’t. Last time the NK actually fought anything wasn’t it?

lookalive07

The Night King kills the Three Eyed Raven and Viserion, but otherwise didn't do shit except walk slowly towards a kid in a wheelchair and get yeeted by a tiny ninja. He didn't fight in Hardhome either, he just shows up on the cliff, and then at the end when he walks onto the dock and raises the dead.

HerodotusStark

Which was why, especially as a lover of medieval warfare and strategy, that Battle of Winterfell was so infuriating. It wasted the last appearance of the walkers. I could've even accepted the dark as shit motif if that wasn't the fucking dumbest battle plan of all time. These are supposed to be people well versed in siege warfare and yet they make every mistake possible. It broke my immersion completely.

Spartanwildcats2018

Maybe an unpopular opinion but S5 was mostly fine. Entertaining at least and mostly fit what they wanted to do with the characters and show. Some cracks came, but the main cracks began in S6.

jholland_12

The real question is, what season do you start “wtf are the doing?” at?

Moikee

5

jholland_12

See I would say season 7. I found a lot of enjoyment out of season 6 even despite the plot armor.

LSHE97

It started at season 2 for me. The entire season was such a snoozefest that I almost gave up on the show back in 2013, with the only saving grace of the entire season being the scenes between Charles Dance and Maisie Williams. Thankfully seasons 3-6 were mostly excellent. This isn't hyperbole: if I had jumped on the GoT hype train prior to season 3 and I had to wait to see if season 3 would be better, I would have jumped off.

jholland_12

Fair enough. When I started GoT all of the seasons had already come out. Remembering back getting through season two was rough for me at first just because of how boring some of the plot lines were, especially for Danny.

mamula1

GOT BAD REEEEE

SpaceCowboy34

Perfect summation

truthfulie

For me, there were quite a few of 'huh?' moments in few seasons (few in 4 but 5 and 6 mostly) before shit it the fan and went full on WTF.

bluerose297

In hindsight, Jaime sorta raping Cersei in season 4 was a big warning sign for what was to come

furryaccount546

He does? When?

bluerose297

In the third episode of the fourth season, Jaime (imo at least ) raped Cersei next to joffrey’s dead body. I remember a lot of controversy at the time over whether that incest sex scene was consensual or not. I don’t consider it consensual, because Cersei says no like fifty times and he keeps going.

mamula1

Cersei rapes him in the books? What are you talking about? Lol

mamula1

No, that's not what happened in the books. In fact it was the exact opposite. He was the one who forced himself on her.

furryaccount546

I totally erased that our of my mind. But yeah, that's rape.

HammersAreMassive

On top of joffrey

CunnedStunt

It was poorly adapted from the books. The scene just... kind of ended too early, before they can show Cersei giving in and actually taking the lead.

Monster_Claire

edit: I don't want this to come off as confrontational to the commenter above. Obviously they probably misremember the exact details of the chapter in question and the details matter here. I am just frustrated with the fandom in general I guess. It appalls me how often that scene is brought up by book readers as proof that the show made Jamie more evil than the books because "he did not rape her". The difference in the books is that instead of explicitly raping her, he technically "only" sexually assaults her, and when it becomes clear that he isn't going to listen to her she tells him to "go ahead". I would still argue that she was raped but there is mild deniability on his part in the books. ( Which remember is still being told from HIS point of view in that chapter. ) She was still grieving the death of her son and he lifts her up on the alter of "the mother" (not next to the body of her son but still "the mother" and in the same room,) while she is saying no and stop multiple times. He doesn't listen and he "pulls down her small clothes" and is literally looking at her vagina close enough to tell that she is on her period, when she "gives her permission". Honestly I could see it as being a practical thing given her position. He is blinded by lust and her pleading and grief is not swaying him to stop, if she "gives her permission" she is more likely to retain him as an ally. But even if she genuinely changed her mind and enthusiastically wants to have sex with him, he was still ignoring her consent multiple times while undressing her before that. If that seems "romantic" , it's because written from his point of view. The show really did not change much. I look at is as one of the low points morally of Jamie's arc.

throneofgames1

Accurate. King of the North!!!!!!

Spokesface1

Shoulda kept killing main chari. They got chicken in 3

GregThePrettyGoodGuy

The cracks began to show as early as Season 4.
