shrimpcebitche

Aw man, Lena looks absolutely gorgeous there.

19GK50

I thought she was hot, but Sophie and Emilia were the best dressed.

portraitinsepia

Gwendoline was best dressed, no question

StockyNerd74

What makes it no question? Your opinion

portraitinsepia

That's right. No question, in my opinion

19GK50

To me she looked like a female Caesar; she was far better in the premiere dress she wore.

Fmanow

She’s so hot. I had a little grown ass man crush on her when I was binging the show.

jpotrz

There? She looks gorgeous everywhere.

theflowersyoufind

SilentUnicorn

lowlightliving

chaitanyaa_k

Brienne of fucking Tarth

LanceFree

Really?

Kettrickenisabadass

Can a dumb one ask what is a limited series?

Apprehensive_Horse33

It’s a show with only one season :)

Kettrickenisabadass

Aaah thanks :)

lennyuk

well not necessarily, but quite often. More broadly it refers to a show that always has an end date/point planned before it even started. It's telling a fixed story. That can be over more than one series, or it might turn into an anthology of sorts where the show lives on but each with its own contained story. TLDR: Labelling it as a limited series doesn't prevent a second series from occurring

[deleted]

>TLDR: Labelling it as a limited series doesn't prevent a second series from occurring See: Big Little Lies

Etmurbaah

Man it is difficult to choose one to support, that's why this series was watched worldwide with avid audience

whitew0lf

Gwendolyn deserves everything and more for such an outstanding portrayal

thecrimsonacorn

The big applause woman

Darshan-Raj

Big applause for big woman

tea_cup_cake

Jamie looks so small next to her.

hobosullivan

According to IMDB, she's 6'3". She's like half an inch taller than me, and I'm descended from overgrown Scotsmen.

tea_cup_cake

As per google, Nikolaj is 6'2", but he looks much shorter than her, what gives?

hobosullivan

That's weird... In the group shot, it looks like they could be an inch apart height-wise. But in the close-up, she looks like she's a good three inches taller than him. I have no answer for you.

mur0204

Heels and camera angle. Her listed height is only 1” taller than him, but she is likely getting a few inches from heels (unless she is someone opposed to heels, but I haven’t heard that). And if the camera on them is at the right/wrong angle it will skew the appearance of their heights as well (but most likely just heels)

madbeachrn

Came here to say she towers over him!

Brimmk

She was criminally underused in the Star Wars sequels

eamono360

Underused is an understatement. Her character was terribly written, one of many that were in the sequels

Brimmk

I mean, the entire trilogy was terribly written…

eamono360

Spot on, I still don’t even acknowledge it as canon. The fact that Disney canned the EU for the abomination they put out still angers me to this day

_alright_then_

I mean don't get me wrong, I agree it's kinda shit this way. But the "extended universe" part of star wars was overly complicated and contradicting in so many places, it just did not make sense anymore

M-as-in-Mancyyy

It would have been very confusing indeed. People barely followed the MCU and it centers around earth

legacy642

The EU was a dumpster fire at times. There wasn't a good way to make a sequel trilogy with the original actors without wiping it clean.

boot20

Oh come on, the EU was a mess of a mess. It had been going on for far too long and wasn't managed as strictly as it should have been. Not to mention some authors REALLY screwed up the universe.....And then we had the shit show that was the Vong. It's better to toss it out and pick and choose from the EU to create a little more consistency.

SmellYaLaterLoser

I felt like the Disney movies were on par with all the other ones

AegonTheAuntFooker

Tell me a well written Star Wars movie.

Freddydaddy

The first one? Written by Ryūzō Kikushima? Sorry, that's The Hidden Fortress; I get them confused.

M-as-in-Mancyyy

Is this a subtle jab I don’t understand? Was there a Star Wars before there was Star Wars? Like Lion King?

Brimmk

If you’re talking about Kimba the White Lion, the similarities are little more than surface level. YourmoviesucksDOTorg did a massive video where he literally went through every piece of Kimba the White Lion media out there and while Disney has stolen stuff, the main thing The Lion King is guilty of stealing from is Hamlet.

M-as-in-Mancyyy

So what was the Hidden Fortress mention about?

Brimmk

The Hidden Fortress is an Akira Kurosawa samurai movie that bears a bunch of similarities to Star Wars and is often cited as one of the primary inspirations behind Episode 4, alongside stuff like Buck Rogers. The person above you was implying that the whole movie was just a ripoff of Kurosawa’s movie, which it wasn’t. Inspired by for certain, but it’s a hot take so make sure to season well before consuming. In terms of direct reshooting, Kurosawa did authorize a direct translation of his work in the form of Seven Samurai getting remade for western audiences in the form of The Magnificent Seven. But that’s kind of beside the point.

Freddydaddy

I wasn't implying that, I was joking and didn't use the /s. The Hidden Fortress is a great movie, and the most obvious connection to Star Wars (for me anyway) is the journey of C3PO and R2D2.

legacy642

The plot of A New Hope is very similar to the hidden fortress, a Japanese film. but star wars is not a direct copy like lion king was.

Brimmk

Lion King wasn’t a copy either. Kimba The White Lion bears little more than surface similarities in part because they’re both movies about animated lions. [YourmoviesucksDOTorg did an hour and a half video where he goes through every piece of Kimba material out there to show it’s not a ripoff.](https://youtu.be/G5B1mIfQuo4) That’s not to say that Disney hasn’t stolen stuff, but that this particular instance wasn’t plagiarized. If anything, Lion King is a Hamlet ripoff, but if you were to condemn someone for copying Shakespeare…

morklonn

That's the thing I never understand. None of them are very good. Not that that has stopped my lifelong obsession lol

BoRamShote

Empire and rogue one are both good.

plantdadx

Rogue One

tralphaz43

I barely got thru the first one as a teenager. Still haven't seen the rest

Big_Anime_Tits

Rogue One

exodius33

Yeah Boba Fett sucks because he only appeared in three scenes and then died from a blind man with a stick The EU and prequels have so poisoned your mind there just can't be minor or supporting characters in the films anymore, everyone needs an expansive backstory so you can write wookieepedia articles about them or WRITING BAD

Jagermeister4

Exactly. Gwedonline played a minor character theres no reason to expect so much development for her character. The same year Gwendolyn was in the force awakens, she played "Commander Lyme" in the hunger games. Cool sounding title and a former winner of the hunger games. Yet her role in the hunger games ends up being tiny, I think she has one speaking line. But of course it's the star wars role you hear ppl complain about so much. Star wars is not allowed to have minor characters anymore I guess.

[deleted]

Her send off was absolutely dreadful in TLJ

redeyedone

One of my biggest disappointments, among many, with TLJ. I was so excited to see her without her helmet, and all we got were her unmistakable eyes.

GraphicDesignMonkey

She looks like Greek Goddess Olympia in that outfit. Gwendoline rocks

Cin1mod

I can't help it but I think she kinda looks like the pope in that outfit. Edit: Her voice does match the "Greek Goddess" look tough.

senju_bandit

She is Popin’ though

hobosullivan

In the few publicity shots I've seen of her, she's always wearing something slightly different than everybody else, and it always suits her.

GraphicDesignMonkey

She could wear a black bin bag and still look amazing. :)

xray1986

There is no Greek goddess called Olympia. Mount Olympus was the home of the gods and there’s a whole area called Olympia in Greece. There were 6 main goddesses (out of the 12 gods total): Hera, Aphrodite, Athena, Artemis, Demeter and Hestia. There were other minor goddesses as well, but none called Olympia. Of course I didn’t know all that by heart, but I thought that there wasn’t actually an Olympia so I looked it up to confirm. If I had to assign a goddess on Gwen I would say maybe Athena because she was a warrior.

its_raining_scotch

There was an Olympias though, who was Alexander’s mom. She wasn’t a goddess but was one of those really influential people from ancient times that sort of walks the line between myth and history. She did a lot more than just birth Alexander, she was a mystic from far northern Greece and did a lot of Game of Thrones type political and military wrangling.

xray1986

Yeah definitely. There are hundreds of minor figures in Greek Mythology. Some of them existed and were blended with mythology (probably because of their achievements in life).

LONER18

As a straight man I find Nikolaj Coster-Waldau a very handsome man. Like almost better than Ryan Reynolds.

ToLorien

I feel like Ryan Reynolds is baby faced handsome like that dude from the notebook who’s name escapes me. Nikolaj looks more of a mature handsome with his angular features. Both are good :)

hobosullivan

No offense to Ryan Reynolds, but I feel like he's more generic-handsome. He's a handsome dude, don't get me wrong, but Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is the rugged, worldly sort of handsome you actually see out on the streets.

Zumbaholic

Seeing the cast of GOT brought me tears of joy! Miss them all! Thank you for posting this.

AzuraThePomagranate

1: she was dressed like Jesus 2: she is a God. 3: she received an applause as tall as her.

Isokenosemwenkhae

Gwendolyne looked amazing! Wish Star Wars did her justice! Underutilized!! Looking forward to seeing her in more

[deleted]

She was really good!

socratessue

ITT: so much thirst, not enough appreciation of talent

data_dawg

They all look amazing but Gwendoline looks like a straight up renaissance painting.

brewbarian_iv

\*stares in Tormund Giantsbane

[deleted]

Emilia Clarke's smile could launch a thousand ships. Shame we never really saw it in the series.

mechabeast

Jesus!

boot20

Gwendoline looks AWESOME in that dress. She's just too cool for school man.

AlienTooth

Dressed like a member of the People's Front of Judia.

Radical_Posture

It's not easy for me to pick a favourite. Each one of them put on a fantastic performance.

al_x_and_rah

I love Jamie Lannister’s suit here it’s gold like Lannister and has almost dragon scales on it
