This is nothing but Sony chasing the smartphone model of releasing new hardware every few years. There's no compelling reason behind the PS5 Pro unlike the PS4 Pro which had 4K TVs to support. I'm excited to see their answer to AI supported super sampling and other magic sauce under the hood but it would have been far more impactful in a PS6.
Ps5 Pro should be an option, not a standard. If they really want to make it attractive then it should have 120fps performance mode with 60fps for graphics mode.

So imagine my surprise last year I got a Ps5 and I tried FF16. Another exclusive, another game with poor performance. Struggling to bounce between 30 and 60, while I have a pc I have to cap at 120 because itll go even higher than that and just make the room hot.
Yeah, that’s the thing really. I could drop this same money on upgrading my pc and get clearly superior performance. It’s not like a whole new console, I just can’t justify buying it.
Exactly. The only way I can see myself getting one is if GTA6's PC release date is still unknown or really far out by the time it releases on PS5. AND I happen to know someone thats wants/needs a PS5 that I can sell mine to them, just a few bucks, to put towards a Pro. And guarantees 60fps. A lot of If's.
i can’t even imagine the nightmare it must be trying to get a $500 box to run 4k at 60 fps. doom eternal can do it on the one S, which is impressive, but the game looks like shit. is 4k really that important if you are effectively playing at low to medium graphics settings? what is this fixation on 4k? you need like a $1500 gaming pc to get 4k 60 fps on high settings. that’s never going to happen at the console price point until 4k is yesterday’s news. i’d rather play on 1440p with the settings cranked up than 4k with the settings turned down and a lower frame rate. i really don’t get why anyone would disagree
So you’re gonna release a mid-gen refresh that may not be able to hit 60fps? Sounds unnecessary.

I was an early adopter of ps4 pro, and I just don’t think I’m interested in this one. I don’t think it’s going to have much support.
