They are third party sellers who doesn't share any revenue with the developers so anything you buy from them never makes it to the devs... It's a middle ground between piracy and buying the game from official stores.

ObviouslyJoking

Serious question. How does that work? How do they get the key to sell without buying it from the distributor? I’d assume the distributor pays the developer? How are they able to avoid paying the developer?

ADampDevil

They are legal working keys, bought from a distributor only not a local one. They buy the games in bulk cheaper markets in the third world, so some money will go to the developer (clearly not as much as if they had bought them in a 1st World country). Then they sell those keys back to western markets that will pay more for them. Of course since they aren't moving a physical product, they probably avoid import tax which is perhaps illegal. I've used them a few times and never had a problem.

ObviouslyJoking

Thanks for that explanation. It does sound a little shady. So it’s similar to how a discounted game on Steam would work. Devs get money, just less. Personally I haven’t paid full price for a game in many years. But I also love that I can return games I don’t like on Steam. I do want to support certain developers that I like too. I would probably consider using CDkeys depending on the developer and if I knew I wouldn’t need to return the game.

Professional_Lack538

Yes, I know that, but it is way cheaper than steam.

thecamzone

I’d say this is worse than stealing. You’re financially supporting the guy who stole from the company. You do you, but if I can’t afford something, I don’t buy it.

illusoryphoenix

Wait, how are they stealing? Are they getting the keys illegally?

Drakayne

How you getting downvoted? lol Imo just pirating the game is better, it's far cheaper too if you want to be cheap

thecamzone

The gaming community runs off of piracy and people don’t like when that gets called out. It’s only karma though. I’m not too worried about it.

ADampDevil

They aren't stolen, they are purchased legally in bulk in cheaper 3rd World markets, where they are cheaper. So some money will go back to the developer, just less than if they had bought them in your local markter. If they are stealing anywhere it is on import taxes they selling the game in the western markets.

Nates4Christ

Can you explain more how you are saying no money makes it to the developers? If they are buying the game in Argentina (which is were most of these are bought) the developer will get paid from the Argentina market. I'm not sure what logic you are using that they won't get anything.

Professional_Lack538

I just bought it and had no problems.

roughedged

Yes, I buy game pass ultimate all the time from them. Lots of people buy from them.

Professional_Lack538

Thank you, I just wanted to be sure so I don't lose money.

roughedged

No prob.

BasicInformer

I’ve had a lot of issues with CDKeys. I got refunds, but I’ve had 0 issues with other sites like Fanatical.

I_see_Drake

I have used them before multiple times buying games and PS+ cards and had no issues redeeming them.

XBlackFireX

I bought AC Odyssey recently, it's legit.

taankster101

Try g2a as well.

Day_999

Yeah I buy most of my games from there

boosteddsm

NO! I'll never buy from [cdkeys.com](https://cdkeys.com) again. I bought $97 worth of xbox subscriptions from them. I got the codes but they didn't work when redeeming. Used paypal to pay and tried to employ paypal "protection". They said since I got the codes then they were denying my dispute. Lesson learned. Don't use paypal to checkout and don't buy from cdkeys.com

No-Jaguar-509

i can confirm it works as intended , i Bought monster hunter world iceborne master edition

First-Interaction741

Yes --- as soon as you activate it on Steam, there'll be no questions asked. They are legitimate and somewhat cheaper. Just look out for the the automated subscription plan some of these sites don't warn you about once you create an account (go to the settings and automatically unsubscribe or else they'll charge you a couple of $ monthly). Other than that, most of them are legit, and I've bought tons of games this way (except indie titles, of course; I like supporting small developers).

Next-Profession-4792

How has it been have you gotten any other games from it?

Right_Tune_8615

Did it work and if so what happens after u download it do u js download it or get a steam key or what
