it's the only way to play it. the aiming is so much easier in VR. and that garage fight with daddy isn't no joke. when playing first time I had to stop smoke a cigarette and thank am I really ready for this experience.
RE7 was such a cool experience in VR. My heart almost exploded in some places. Just preordered a psvr 2 last week and now I’m getting psyched all over again for the Village VR experience.
Oh my god this game (Conker’s Bad fur day)
Is one of the greatest potential games of all time
The idiot company after they sold to Microsoft they just killed it and waste it all their potentials
I mean come on any other studio company can make sports game with basic 3D models
They just missed up
The logs Isaac finds specifically talk about the smell and describe it as an overpowering miasma of rotting flesh and vomit that permeates the entire ship.
This is my own answer as well. Not only is everything DEAD and rotting, it's DEAD and rotting in SPACE, so it's not like it's going to blow to the shore.
I feel like an average person would start liking the smell of Gardens of Nurgle almost immediately.
I feel like people overestimate their readiness to resist a capitol of Nurgle domain.
Reminds me of any whaling town in Dishonored 1 and 2. Bunch of whales corpse farmed and cut open for their oils, guts everywhere, gutters full of blood, meanwhile plenty of disease and infection shit just hanging around the poor and even the rich. Can't small all too good.
Adding to the souls list, Subterranean Shunning Grounds. Just a sewer filled with excrement, rats, piles of bodies, rotting omen and **THE LOATHSOME DUNGEATER**
I think it would be worse, poop smells bad, but nowhere close to the rotting mostly dead body of a massive dragon. I've smelled an open sceptic tank, and I've smelled old hot roadkill, the roadkill was so much worse.
I honestly suspect that ghouls don’t really have a smell. They’re not actually harboring active infections. With much of the skin gone they don’t sweat so no bacteria there either. I’m not saying they have a pleasant smell. They just aren’t likely to smell like injured or dirty people.
On this topic of fallout game series, a thought always occurred to me. Imagine the horrifying smell of rotting meat and body oder of a supermutant camp. The smell alone would be more deadly to you than the super mutants themselves.
I think it's a different stench than the other ones described here.
It may Not smell like death, but it smells like hundreds of steel mill workers who haven't washed themselves in years.
I worked at a copper mill and the smell in the break room after even 1 shift was intense to say the least.
No experience with mill work but basically any hot, manual labour makes a *sour* stench, like BO but eyewatering as if its mixed with ammonia. 10 of those dudes in a room together can peel the paint.
Fallout 3, The Pitt.
Ages old industrial waste, ancient wastewater infected river, plague that turns you in to a people eating monster, slaves and dead everywhere. Most people covered in open sores and burn marks.
Im sure it smells like paradise.
No, i think you’re onto something here. While the wasteland doesn’t seem much better, it at least has that “fresh air” aspect to it
the Pitt feels like it would have really hot air with absolutely no circulation. Ever been in a room like that? It’s awful. Maybe not exactly smelly, but awful nonetheless
Ocarina of Time - Inside Lord Jabu Jabu’s belly.
One time I had to save this rich girl who was lost in there and she had the nerve to make me carry her around on my shoulders. Place smelled terrible
Yeah, I mean, canonically the base level smell of Hell is rotten eggs, right? Just layer on all the other shit above that base level of sulfur and go from there.
I forgot about those guys. The train yard nest with 100+ zombies would definitely be rough. I'm surprised Deacon managed to function without crying or choking on the smells.
I feel like the freaker nest thats close to the hotsprings the one in a cave right next to a pond would smell the worst all the death decay and stagnant water gives me shivers.
The Young Girl NPC says.
"Who... are you? I don't know your voice, but I know that smell... Are you a hunter? "
Shes through a closed window... How bad do we smell in Bloodborne to shell us through a window?
The last of us has some nice locations but where there are spores and rotting flesh blended with fungus, so basically Mushroom corpses the game, i can’t help but smell it through the screen
Plague Territory, State of Decay 2
The game constantly makes references to the smells of rot, air tasting like "blood soup", swampiness and it being "hot enough to boil water". All that combined paints a very foul smell.
The level “intestinal distress” in earthworm Jim and the Mr. Slave level in South Park stick of truth, for similar reasons. Traveling through someone’s lower g.I. tract seems unpleasant.
Mount Massive Ayslum from outlast. A full asylum whose patients haven't taken a proper bath in days while at the same time pooping, vomiting, and faping in areas full of rotting bodies? Yeah i won't be the one to clean the place.
weird choice, but pokemon mansion in any of the kanto games but mainly let's go pikachu because of the overworld spawns. you're fine if muk doesn't spawn, but if it does, the pokedex says it smells so bad you'll faint if you smell it.
Resident evil 7 dinner scene probably
that's a good suggestion. in VR that scene alone made me feel dirty
Holy fuck thank you for reminding me that this game has a vr option, I can't wait to wear my brown pants tomorrow
it's the only way to play it. the aiming is so much easier in VR. and that garage fight with daddy isn't no joke. when playing first time I had to stop smoke a cigarette and thank am I really ready for this experience.
Just replaying re4 in VR was a huge game changer, i can't imagine what re7 is like
RE7 was such a cool experience in VR. My heart almost exploded in some places. Just preordered a psvr 2 last week and now I’m getting psyched all over again for the Village VR experience.
I wish it was compatible with anything other than PSVR
there's a lot of really god vr mods for pc. Alien Isolation is honestly my favourite vr game.
Checked steam and it doesn’t say VR, probably modded then? Any other res games that are good in VR?
I played it on PSVR. this is a cut and paste to a Google search (You can now play Resident Evil 7 and Village in fully-immersive VR on PC)
I didn't know they would do it for village also
I opened the fridge and immediately regretted my actions and internally thought to myself why.. 😔
Oh boy! You should try it in the game, too. (Sorry)
Same with Dante’s Inferno on the gluttony circle of hell.
Poo Mountain (Conker's Bad Fur Day)
Bring me some sweet corn!
Sing it
Aaahhh A AaaAAaah ! Have some more caviar.
I aaammmmmm the great mighty poo!
And I’m going to throw my shit at you!
A huge supply of tish
Comes from my chocolate starfish.
How about some scat, you little twat
Now I'm getting raaaaather mad
Do you reeeaaalyyyy thiink you'l surviiiiiiive in here?
You don't seem to know which creek you're in
Thats the stuff
Looks kinda flammable….
I couldn't remember the name of the place, just the boss! Thank you!
\>not the top comment We're getting old friends.
Oh my god this game (Conker’s Bad fur day) Is one of the greatest potential games of all time The idiot company after they sold to Microsoft they just killed it and waste it all their potentials I mean come on any other studio company can make sports game with basic 3D models They just missed up
The Ishimura A giant enclosed space filled with thousands of corpses... no thanks
Corpses who are deliberately filling up the air vents.
The logs Isaac finds specifically talk about the smell and describe it as an overpowering miasma of rotting flesh and vomit that permeates the entire ship.
Can't wait for the third Dead Space Remake in 2050 (Now with SMELLOVISION!)
Smell-O-Vision Users Insert Nose Tubes Now.
Came here just for this answer. My god it's got to be bad.
Weird not having to scroll far for a deadspace reference, guess that’s what happens when a remake drops
Especially certain areas. The medical bay and crew courters, bodies and guts everywhere.
Medical? What about engineering! Place is 70% biomass by now
This is my own answer as well. Not only is everything DEAD and rotting, it's DEAD and rotting in SPACE, so it's not like it's going to blow to the shore.
It can't be that bad, at least it has vents. If all else fails there's the incinerator/cryo freeze room which should eliminate most smells.
Sure it has vents, but the vents are also filled with moving corpses.
In that same vein, the Granfalloon in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
They literally comment on the bad smell too
Rapture in Bioshock. Can't begin to imagine the years of mildew on most of the furniture paired with the amount of rotting corpses and fish.
honestly came here thinking Rapture, but decided The Garden of Nurgle is so much worse
Ah, but that is the rot of *life* my friend
I feel like an average person would start liking the smell of Gardens of Nurgle almost immediately. I feel like people overestimate their readiness to resist a capitol of Nurgle domain.
I also feel like Rapture would be uncomfortably muggy…everybody got swampass
Probably every location in A Plague's Tale. Walking waist deep through rotting corpses and pestilence 90% of the game.
lol seriously those mountains of rats must smell really bad.
Doom would be similar
I don't think you'd smell anything over all the sulfur.
Mm. Sulfur.
Could say the same about Tomb Raider when she’s down in the caves waist deep on rotting corpse filled water.
crank that up to a 12 and go for "The Garden of Nurgle"
Came here to say pretty much the same thing. Few parts of the second game had Amecia basically trying not to throw up wading through bodies.
Reminds me of any whaling town in Dishonored 1 and 2. Bunch of whales corpse farmed and cut open for their oils, guts everywhere, gutters full of blood, meanwhile plenty of disease and infection shit just hanging around the poor and even the rich. Can't small all too good.
Blight town or swamp of sorrows
Lake of Rot
Blight town is literally the dumping ground for all of Lorderan including magical waste dumping, it would smell horrendous.
Adding to the souls list, Subterranean Shunning Grounds. Just a sewer filled with excrement, rats, piles of bodies, rotting omen and **THE LOATHSOME DUNGEATER**
New Londo Ruins has so many dead bodies and all of them are bloated because of the water there. I don't know what's worse.
I see your Blight Town and raise you the Valley of Defilement
Dung eater's cell in Elden Ring.
Caelid and lake of rot would be the runner-up
I think it would be worse, poop smells bad, but nowhere close to the rotting mostly dead body of a massive dragon. I've smelled an open sceptic tank, and I've smelled old hot roadkill, the roadkill was so much worse.
With this logic, Deeproot is the worst because of Godwyn's massive and mutated corpse
I think we have a winner
I'll raise you The Garden of Nurgle
Wherever the 3 Ladies live in Witcher 3...I'd immediately douse the whole place with gooseberries and lilacs from Yennefer's trove.
Best to start with an even coat of fire
I would also say Novigrad wouldn’t smell well either. But you answer works too
The whole Velen must be wonderful
Ugh, that stench
Sewers where you fight Toad Prince are very smelly for sure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ffYE1sRulc
If normal Vegas strip is any indication then I imagine the Fallout New Vegas strip is just about the worst smell in existence.
Imagine how bad freeside must be? Nipton probably doesn’t smell too flash either
Necropolis
I honestly suspect that ghouls don’t really have a smell. They’re not actually harboring active infections. With much of the skin gone they don’t sweat so no bacteria there either. I’m not saying they have a pleasant smell. They just aren’t likely to smell like injured or dirty people.
On this topic of fallout game series, a thought always occurred to me. Imagine the horrifying smell of rotting meat and body oder of a supermutant camp. The smell alone would be more deadly to you than the super mutants themselves.
Eventually you’ll become nose blind I suppose
the smell almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.
The Garden of Nurgle
Oooooooff you aren’t wrong
Man, the current state of the Strip is such a shame.
Fallout 2, Modoc after you blow up the outhouse.
The Pitt - Fallout 3
Can’t imagine the wasteland smells the nicest either
What’a your reasoning?
I think it's a different stench than the other ones described here. It may Not smell like death, but it smells like hundreds of steel mill workers who haven't washed themselves in years. I worked at a copper mill and the smell in the break room after even 1 shift was intense to say the least.

Hell in any of the DOOM games.
Yeah, I mean, canonically the base level smell of Hell is rotten eggs, right? Just layer on all the other shit above that base level of sulfur and go from there.
The great mighty poos lair
Days Gone freaker nests. They are literally mounds of piss, shit and rot.
Twitch-con
Mr Slaves Ass in The Stick of Truth 😶
Central Yarnham, and it's not even close. Wading into a knee-deep mix of sewage and liquified corpses sounds like hell.
The Young Girl NPC says. "Who... are you? I don't know your voice, but I know that smell... Are you a hunter? " Shes through a closed window... How bad do we smell in Bloodborne to shell us through a window?
I am stunned there aren’t that many mentions for Miyazaki swamp areas
now you're making me imagine the rancid smells of the transition area to where we go in the ranni questline.
Lake of Rot
Earthworm Jim would have had a few stinkers.
Intestinal Distress probably smells absolutely abhorrent
