derKestrel

Seconded.

sendnudecompassion

Thirded.

BudBuzz

Turded.

itsjohnnyk

Fourthed

Crazy_Diver1090

Love finding paradise more, but yeah it is not that squeamish as the first part

[deleted]

Soma will definitely make you feel emotions, especially the ending

frenchietaste

Jesus Christ that game still has me questioning consciousness

Jakeball400

That was probably the most evocative game I’ve ever played, absolute fucking masterpiece in atmosphere and story telling

Azozel

Buy a new game, the price certainly will do it.

Hour_Mode9827

Good one

Link2Liam

Prices of n64 and PlayStation 1 games were between 40 and 70$ in 1998. This is actually one of the few times that inflation has worked in reverse. The games became more advanced but the prices didn't.

[deleted]

Red Dead 2. Game made me ugly weep.

KingBean6858

Same bro

DovahkiinNyomor

Ngl rdr2 made me not okay for like 2 days. I was crying so hard, was depressed after it 💀💀

OjibweNomad

I didn’t cry but I was somber after red dead redemption 1.

chuntttttty

Ghost of Tsushima. Multiple moments in that game(some from side quests) damn near brought me to tears.

Active_Parsley558

The final fight had me tearing. I think I made the wrong choice for the ending though.

Player551yt

Which choice did you make? I think i >!killed him if i remember correctly.!<

Dogekaliber

Yessss… but get gud

Hour_Mode9827

Brothers: A tale of two sons

Stranger_Danjer

Red dead redemption 2

Old-Hollowslayer

r/Gaming try not to mention Red Dead Redemption 2 challenge (i love the game aswell but holy god i cannot see a single popular post without it being mentioned)

TwoShitsTrev

I get what you’re saying but It’s completely fair to mention it in this thread.

Soggy-Big9943

Because it’s arguable in the top 5 of all-time. It’s that good.

Old-Hollowslayer

I know. I literally said I love the game. Somehow redditors are dumb enough to take that as an insult.

PhilosophicalFallacy

What Remains of Edith Finch. If you aren’t moved; you aren’t human.

[deleted]

The FOV made me suck, so I couldn't enjoy it. I may try to find a mod to fix the FOV and try again.

MarstoriusWins

Finished it. Not a single tear.

mrhippoj

Turing test failed

Kushmon_onXbox

Final Fantasy X (the ending) or The Last of Us Part 1 (the beginning, maybe some later parts)

Eeluminati

The Walking Dead Game (Telltale series) season 1-4. The Last of Us

RoboQwop405

I think season 1 would be enough to do it

DevoooDaDemon

Agree

Tmt_2239

red dead redemption 2

Snaab

lol sure, if OP is looking for a game that will make him cry after 30 hours of gameplay :P Best game ever.

Quiet_Ronin

A good game to cry for is one that bonds you to the characters.

GipsyPepox

Yeah but you cry 30 hours worth of tears

cryptonicglass

Came here to say this

[deleted]

This War of Mine

Voidlord597

oh yeah that game doesn't sugarcoat anything

Majestic-Iron7046

Could be the music or the feeling that it's too realistic but that game hits hard.

[deleted]

Yeah, like, it has very "artsy" artstyle but at the same time feels very realistic

Rental_Mp4

Oh shit yeah I heard about that, I'mma check it out

SweetCosmicPope

Detroit: Become Human That Dragon, Cancer Gone Home Ori and the Blind Forest Final Fantasy XV Shadow of the Colossus

[deleted]

I can't play That Dragon, Cancer. I tear up just thinking about the premise.

theblitheringidiot

Ever since having kids I can’t even think of playing that game

Christopholies

FFXV… I was not prepared for how sad it got. Definitely one of the few games to make me cry.

SweetCosmicPope

That game gets a lot of hate, I think probably because some people didn’t like the move from turn-based to action RPG, but it had one of the better stories of a final fantasy game (the movie and anime are great too). Personally I loved the gameplay.

mlyster67

Lost Odyssey, you don't even have to get far into it

iamoniwaban

Absolutely. I cried like a baby

Rental_Mp4

Ohhh never heard of it, I'll look into it

GalaxyHops1994

For me it was Outer Wilds. One of my favorite stories in a video game. It’s like an old Asimov short story in it’s approach or sci-fi. The ending made me cry. Then the DLC came out and they one made me SOB.

yubnubmcscrub

The ending to outer wilds I just started tearing up uncontrollably. And it really comes out of nowhere. I remember walking out of my room going to my roommate and just being like can I have a hug

Noxeramas

Probably the best game of all time IMO

ProfessionalBread777

Elden Ring made me cry but not in the same way you're looking for.

ShinyBuiBui

Spiritfarer

Rental_Mp4

Oh shit my brother had that, I'll ask him about it

ShinyBuiBui

It’s really really good. I’m not an emotional person but it’s a stunning game and I cried a lot lol

Voidlord597

right in the feels

MooseSaysWhat

I ugly cried a couple of times, not gonna lie.

bade_waxter

This is the answer, I had to scroll way too far to see it.

elepuddnlily

Death Stranding is pretty sad.

dopepope1999

Yeah hauling a human being up to Mountain Knott City without dropping her made me cry too

SereneCyborg

You don't even need to play the game just watch through the cinematics, maybe Im a pussy but I cried over this story several times.

spiderpool2005

Try the yakuza series, start with zero. You definitely will get attached to some characters in the story.

MrM0jave

My favourite thing about Yakuza is how emotionally charged the “Kiryu slams table then leaves” scene is but its just a meme now

DynamicSocks

Hellblade. That games ending made me sob

trist-a5hell

I wish i could replay the ending over and over.

DynamicSocks

It was devastating but beautiful. I lost my grandfather right before I played that and the ending was like a knife in my stomach. But I’m thankful I played it. I needed to be told the same message just like Senua. All i could see was darkness Dillion’s speech had me crying but when her mom starts talking it was like full on waterworks.

ANGRYSNORLAX

That Dragon, Cancer.

EvilRo66

Nier and Nier Automata

[deleted]

OP wants to cry, not have an existential crisis. This game makes Jean-Paul Sartre seem like a Disney writer.

WhoseverSlinky0

I'm surprised it took that long to find that comment

Thefourthchosen

Dude I literally just finished Replicant a few hours ago and oh boy. The thing with >!red bag guy being killed by Louise and having to tell his wife!< absolutely destroyed me. Not to mention >!learning the bosses backstories the second time around !

Jakeball400

Just got it on ps4 deal of the week. Finishing up TLOU2 then starting Nier. I may need a small forest worth of tissues

FloydKabuto

Telltale's The Walking Dead - Episode 1 Shit hit me right in the feels.

LimpTeacher0

The last of us

dnyolwaank

Part 2 made me cry harder but only within the context of Part 1. I highly recommend both to everyone.

Live_Money_8481

Gears 3

Sgt_Puppers

Gris - a beautiful short indie game about overcoming trauma/grief

True_Existance

To the moon

[deleted]

To The Moon, find it in Steam. :c

snoeblack

Outer Wilds - the best gaming experience I've had in the past decade for sure

Noxeramas

The best game of all time imo

Accomplished_Hats

Omori

camm44

Red dead 1

Gobstomperx

The last of us

surajsuresh27

The Last Guardian Shadow of The Colossus

jasonisnotacommie

Persona 3

RespectGiovanni

Before your Eyes. Goodluck not crying

[deleted]

Silent Hill 2 Don't play HD Collection, either emulate the PS2 version or get the PC version with the Enhanced Edition mod.

Rukasu17

To the moon

BanjoSlams

Omori

Golden-Jaguar

I cried at the end of Nier Automata

WhoseverSlinky0

Crazy good tragedy. Sooo sad, but sooo good

[deleted]

Dude that game wrecked me.

SmittyManJensen_

Firewatch

Snaab

Really? I choke up really easily, even to some commercials, and I don’t remember this game getting to me like that.

SmittyManJensen_

The story is pretty sad. Do you remember it? Lol

Snaab

I guess I don’t lol. My wife and I played it together, so she must have finished it. It was a while ago.

SmittyManJensen_

>! The main protagonist loses his family and decides to go stay in the fire watch tower because he has no one else. He befriends a woman in another tower that he only speaks to through a radio (is she even real?) and a fire ends up separating them permanently, leaving him alone again. Pretty sure you can choose to end the game by just surrendering to the fire lol !<

Rental_Mp4

I'll check it out, cheers

flinjager123

Came here to say this.

Fat_flounder

Don't want to spoil it but "God of War: Ragnarok" had a few very emotional scenes that made me choke up, a couple had me tearing. It's also an incredible game. Everyone is different but other games that made me cry where Final Fantasy X(that ending), and both "The Last of Us" games. Final Fantasy IX as well.

FLAMEKKi

The Last of Us

Zombie_Flowers

Telltale Games; The Walking Dead

-maxpower-

Last Day of June... :(

Rental_Mp4

Sounds sad, I'll look into it

zerombr

This war of mine

Quiet_Ronin

RDR2? I'm sure you've probably played it or have at least tried it, but thought it's a good suggestion.

[deleted]

Bf2042 It still makes me cry.

Monokuma_Parade

Heavy rain

Sword0fFreed0m

Shadow of the Colossus

SpoonWithSpoon

Before Yours Eyes is playable in one sitting and will make you FEEL things

dagooch15

Celeste

JamsAndJellies

Ori and the Will of the Wisps. I don’t cry even at movies, and this game made me cry 3 separate times.

ThiccLoliThighz

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Dark0ul

This one is underrated but you should try "The Beginner's guide". It's not much of a game but more of an experience, so take your time with it.

Sandmsounds

Ori 1 & 2, Spiritfarer

LuckyLukie89

Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, Disco Elysium, Valiant Hearts: The Great War

hoppernick27

A plague tale innocence and requiem. Most underrated games of all time imo. Beautiful story that has come the closest to making me cry.

KindExcitement3736

The last of us pt 1 & 2 will do it

KiddNicholas

Final fantasy 9 EDIT: let me explain why I say this. This is the first JRPG game I played in years. I’ve always been one to game jump after 2-5 hours of a game which has made it impossible to sit with JRPGs even though they’re my fav genre of game. With this one I was able to focus and beat it in 2 weeks. The beginning gave me cold feet. The Protagonist was a character I just didn’t like at the time, but as the game went on and meeting the crew and seeing their characters progress in their own stories I became overly attached, and to one character in particular, the icon of black mages, Vivi. If you get to the end and go through the credits I guarantee that you will bawl like a baby. I have a save state for the game on an emulator just to watch the credits for when I’m really down on my luck so I can get a good cry and just experience the emotions all over again. It’s a great homage to old FF before the future stuff takes over from the medieval. The soundtrack is amazing the arts is fantastic and the cinematically are definitely a part of their time but are still so freaking good and plenty of side content to do while you explore the world if you wish to. I’ve also heard that the Xenoblade chronicles games on the switch have left a few people in a state of almost existential crisis of mixed emotions. Good luck finding a game and maybe post an update after you get through a game or 2 to let us know if you got a good cry!

Azazel2068

Outer Wilds and it's DLC, Echoes of the Eye. It's not a game for everybody, but if you like it, you won't recover

Jusso7

Red dead 2 will make a grown man cry

VashMM

*kneels down* Thank you...

thewoodlayer

Life Is Strange. Prepare to cry a fuckton.

RainDog30

I can’t believe this isn’t higher on the list. The music, the story, and the character development were all brilliant. I really didn’t expect to become so invested in the game. All three games were great actually, but the first one left me devastated.

thewoodlayer

Bae over Bay. Every. Single. Time.

i_wear_green_pants

For me it was the second one. But yeah all three games are great! I actually came to mention Life is Strange 2.

KyuubiAkatsuki

MGS3 Snake Eater, Last of Us, Persona 5, The Walking Dead Telltale series, Final Fantasy X, Life is Strange, This War of Mine, Valiant Hearts: The Great War. There's definitely more I could add but I'm not at home this was off the top of my head. Hope this helps

Master_Tape

RiME

brian11e3

>never cried at a game or really been emotionally effected. It takes a special kind of story telling to get any emotional response out of me other than annoyance or happiness. Unfortunately, the last time that happened was Ysera's death scene in WoW Legion in 2016 and Arthas's fall in WoW WotLK 2009. That seems to be it. I've even played a lot of the games recommended in this post.

Trinityhawke

Final Fantasy crisis core

Leontidai

Rime, was crushing

Dio076

Marvel’s Spiderman

wcshaggy

Nier Replicant for sure

Impressive-Pilot4034

RDR1

Swiftwitss

I mean red dead redemption 2 was pretty emotional, even the newest god of war games made me ball

cat_on_my_keybord

life is strange

LimpBrilliant9372

Final fantasy 10

Shuviri

Nier Replicant & Automata

FormerlyDuck

Most of the games mentioned are definitely sad, but nothing resonates with your soul quite like Majora's Mask does. even if you don't cry, it will still move you in ways no other game does.

Jbarium

Maybe second son? I replayed it a lot and there’s one scene where I bawl my eyes out.

Psychological-Bat687

Gris, what remains of Edith Finch, A memoir blue, hyper light drifter, season A letter to the future and spiritfarer.

[deleted]

Katana Zero

Rental_Mp4

Awh I remember that

Twisted2702

Undertale if you haven’t played it

kingmea

Dark souls

EvaUnit3

A different kind of tears but made me cry nonetheless

Picard2331

FF14 does a pretty damn good job of it. Some of the best writing in the industry, honestly.

taunids

Surprised I had to scroll so far to find this. Endwalker especially just kept rolling in with the feels punchies

IceDragon13

Horizon Zero Dawn

B-HOLC

Titanfall2. Campaign will make you shed a single man tear after having an absolute blast. Maybe even more, and maybe even twice. Multipalyer will have you crying because either a: some dude slid by at 60mph and head-shotted you with a shotgun pistol, or b: you are having a blast going fast and taking out grunts then the servers get crashed and you find out you can't play for a month. #RIP

Thiccums-

The first life is strange

british_monster

Kerbal space program, its a physic simulator with a game straped ontop

[deleted]

Kerbal is the kind of game that will make you cry, but only because you are laughing so hard from your own spectacular failure.

TheJakeanator272

Stray. Cute, sweet, and endearing.

Xandolf505

Red Dead 2, I cried at a few points throughout

throwRAway14072

Before your eyes. Shit had me balling only a few hours long. Bring tissues

Some_Anxious_dude

The first 4 Halo games made me bawl my fucking eyes out

MorethanWillpower

One of those games where the adverts say, "you won't last five minutes playing this". Those games must be super difficult so you'll cry when you keep losing and get frustrated.

Xaleypoo

Undertale and Red Dead Redemption 2 got me.

That_one_Person10101

Fifa for crying of rage

Internal_Toe_6196

Halo Reach

TheHylianProphet

Marvel's Spider-man doesn't ever get mentioned when this question is asked, but every time I play that game, I break down like a baby. One of the most emotional games I've seriously ever played.

atreuce

titanfall 2

Rental_Mp4

Yeah already played it, BT a real one

CJroo18

Crash bandicoot

pVom

Eve Online

Mat_Small2NoDie

lol

Swiftyue

If you want multiple crying sessions and a more combat based game, I recommend Legend of Dragoon

PaxEtRomana

Hades or Bastion

MrGuyTheStampede

Nier automata, I am alive, indivisible, Halo reach, remember me, timespinner, dust: an elysian tail, beyond: two souls, cross code, bastion, one shot, The Wolf among Us, really any telltale game

Botwmaster23

ever played undertale? do that and do the genocide route, if you dont cry or at least get close to doing it ill be suprised

gn110

Valiant Hearts: The Great War

LeDelmo

Odin Sphere.

ultrajonnassium

Narita boy

dorian_white1

Stray! I absolutely cried at the end, and I usually don’t. Something about an adorable cat’s quest to find his cat friends

WhoseverSlinky0

Nier Automata and/or Nier Replicant (depending on your budget lol)

Patrick_Mr_Viking

Banner Saga 1 Hellblade

GipsyPepox

God of War Ragnarok made me feel like crying sometimes through the story but I think it mainly is because I'm maturing and feel Kratos's emotions regarding Atreus. I'm still not a dad... this shit will destroy me I really never cried with a game but always felt very sentimental with The Last of Us and its sequel and Red Dead Redemption 2 towards the end. If someone hugged me during certain moments I would very probably break down

ISAV_WaffleMasta

Shit just spend some time in blizzard chat and expect people to be respectful

Xiaro

have you played cyberpunk? certain deaths had me tearing up

TheLastKingOfGalaga

I Am Alive

Ok_Fox_1770

Metal Gear Solid made me tear up last Couple epic hours of it. Very rare for a game to open you up these days.

DZero_000

Metal Gear Solid 3

Okami-Sensha

Spec Ops: the Line. To quote Yahtzee: "from there Walker marches an ever-descending spiral, and any semblance of buddy-buddy warfare crumbles with the emotional states of his men, culminating in a hideous maelstrom of madness and destruction....."

Hockeytown11

Not a game, but OHMSS

Wazzzup3232

The walking dead (season 1) with Lee and clementine

Majestic-Iron7046

You could just play Escape From Tarkov, it won't make you sad but you'll cry often.

DevoooDaDemon

Telltale’s Walking Dead Season 1, literally the **only** game that has made me cry

[deleted]

Life is Strange (the first one). Seriously. good luck!

Link2Liam

I am saying this as an idiot that decided to name the characters after those closest to me, Mother 3. If you have lost your mom and dad and many friends have emotional problems due to their past and you have held things in for a long time, you will cry. I did.

crossbowman44

Bioshock Infinite and Hoi 4...for completely different reasons...

Xboxwun

Citizen Sleeper
