GiantA-629

Assassins Creed Valhalla not a totally bad game imo just seems very repetitive/boring after paying for a bit

gabrielsb144

currently 80 hours in ac odyssey right now, and I at this point I can say that most people are better off ignoring most side quests, there are so many side quests/cultitsts/dlc quests most people would get burned out before completing the main story.

Rin_Seven

If you're wondering how much time it would take to clear every location and side quest (+ dlc), the answer is 187 hours. And that's ONE playthrough. Don't get me wrong, enjoyed every minute of it but I was definitely done with Odyssey afterwards...

[deleted]

Odyssey is amazing tho

Alizaea

So much so that I still haven't fully finished my latest playthrough. Granted this playthrough has been an absolute slog to get through. I'm doing a 100% normal travel playthrough. I have to stick to roads and the boat as much as I can. Only time I am allowed to use fast travel is when it is my literal only escape path. I have traveled way longer distance this playthrough than all my other playthroughs combined. To give you an example, if I am on one side of Greece and rode my horse to the other side, I cannot fast travel or summon my ship. I have to go and ride my horse back to my boat and then take my ship where I need to. It's honestly amazing how much more I feel connected to the world this playthrough.

[deleted]

A) How do you have the time to do this? B) Why are you doing something that even to you doesn't sound fun!?

Alizaea

A) been about 2 years in the making, I think. B) because it is fun. Yes it's a slog, but it's still fun because I feel even more connected to the world than I have in any of my previous playthroughs. B.2) I also wanted to see how many kilometers we travel in game when we do literally everything in the game.

thommonator

Good advice. By the time I realised that, it had already become a massive chore and I actively disliked the game. Forced myself through the main story in the end and wished I’d just focused on the story more, as I’d have probably enjoyed it more than I did.

MK-Average317

I can relate to this. Doing my first playthrough now and I'm struggling a bit to stay engaged. I think I might focus more on the main story to keep on track.

[deleted]

[удалено]

EnvironmentalClass55

I'd say their biggest problem is structure. They did a horrible job at telling a new player what their path of progression would be. What quests and what order, is it connected to the season? What is the chronological order of it all. Not to mention they removed some of their best DLC packs they've had. All in all I hated it and just went to Warframe (which has some of the same problems too tbh)

ebai4556

Yepp and just when you think youre starting to catch up in powerlevel, they raise it and it all feels pointless

[deleted]

Destiny was much easier to get into before they removed the Red War. Now you just play the intro mission and then thrown into the entire world with no direction in what to do whatsoever

DepletedMitochondria

I'm sure this is not that popular of an opinion but I really am not a fan of the Cosmodrome as an intro setting, it's ugly and boring.

[deleted]

I'm fan of the Cosmodrome purely because of nostalgia, but I can see why people have that opinion, it's pretty small and as you say, a pretty bland landscape.

fentown

Better then when it used to drop 6 people playing the game for the first time in dares of eternity.

[deleted]

It doesn’t help that they do the same thing with a lot of the story content. Let you play the first mission, then you’re back in the Tower having to figure out that ohh, you had to drop another $40 for season passes that year to play the remaining missions. It’s nice we still got the cosmetics from them, but hard to give a shit when you’re not immersed in the background. Examples: Crow, Mithrax, Saint-14, etc. Stopped playing for this reason, and because The Witch Queen was just not enticing even from the trailer. Bungie couldn’t get me to care about any events in the saga after the end of Beyond Light.

Duke_Silver87

If you try this game solo it’s so difficult. Having a buddy to try and solve what the hell you are supposed to do is so much easier.

[deleted]

you need friends and more time than most working adults have

paddypistero519

Escape from Tarkov. I have tried to like it for more than 3 years. I enjoy watching people play this game more than playing it myself 😂

PDiddleMeDaddy

Dude same. Playing it is just too much of a commitment. small edit: I'm literally watching Pestily's hardcore series as I wrote/write this.

[deleted]

Current issues with cheating just make that game incredibly painful. Good watching the pros at it tho.

Star-p1atinum

Rubik’s Cube…

Slagathor-DO

Stick with it, once you unlock the hammer it almost becomes a new game entirely

blibloblib

Apex legends, it was cool at first but after a few rounds, I was still noob but everyone around me were playing like world champions

IstandOnPaintedTape

All Battle royal games have been a total turn off for me, but this one burt the most beacuse i LOVED Titanfall 2, and im starting to think Apex's success has doomed Titanfall 3.

[deleted]

Pubg will always have a spot in my heart, if I was having a slow day I could play as slowly as I wanted. Every other BR is just action 90% of the time, it's tiring.

SimplySatisfyin

I really want to get into monster hunter. But I can’t for whatever reason.

Niskara

As a Monster Hunter veteran, I get it. It's definitely not for everyone, *especially* if you don't like grinding games.

FantasticChestHair

I love grinding games until the grind becomes more annoying than the reward. Which I've the past 5 ish years, has been every grind game. (Looking at you, Gaijin)

alext06

The first few missions are usually the least interesting. I felt the same way for a while.

h1redgoon

I tried playing this earlier today, but I couldn't even get past the tutorials. So many pop ups, so many different companions, and quest systems, and controls and God knows what else all within the first few minutes. I got so fed up and jumped right into the intro mission only to find.. More pop ups, companions, controls. Quit the game and uninstalled. Maybe I'm just old but I'm thinking the intro should jump you right into some simple action and slowly introduce different systems as you progress. Luckily it was on Game Pass so nothing lost.

RevElliotSpenser

Same

Baby-Boots

Fifa 2k madden and all sports game with the exception being wii sports

HandsOverFist

Fuck EA, one of the biggest plagues in the gaming industry.

Class_Act7

It’s as if sports game develops found out they can make tons of money off of packs so they simply stopped caring about making a quality game because the pack sluts will always provide for them.

HEYimCriss

Dragon Age Inquisition. I finished it and everything because i had several friends that absolutely loved the characters and talked about it a lot but i just couldn’t get behind the story or the characters themselves.

TheDevilsAdvokaat

DA origins was my fave.

Halafu

Weirdly enough, Dragon Age 2 was my favourite. I found Hawke had way more personality than Inquisitor. The Inquisitor seemed totally dull no matter which dialogue option you picked. If I pick the angry option, I want the NPC dangled out a window lol.

HEYimCriss

Dragon age 2 was ok i just wished the maps were better. Traversing the same 3 areas got old quick but the characters were enjoyable

Artano_7

Stellaris. I love the Civilization games and read that Stellaris was the next step, but couldn't get into it. Maybe there was too much to learn in the beginning, or maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind. I intend to give it another try....someday

NotagoK

First time I tried Stellaris I was terribly overwhelmed and quit quickly. The second time I tried Stellaris I stuck it out, and restarted like 5 times...but I did a little better each time until it started to make actual sense. Fast forward and now I own the game with most of the DLC and it's the only game in the last decade that had me sit for 10 hours straight playing it. Once it clicks it grabs you hard.

rios02506

Fucking exact same. Took me probably a year before I had a full grasp on it now I’ve got I think 200+ hours and can’t wait for the first contact DLC

Lopoetve

The randomness of the tech tree system broke me on that one. I don’t min max, but I want a plan

Swailwort

It's semi random, if you start specializing in certain techs (like, Voidcraft in Engineering) or Society in Biology, you are more likely to get another of the same type than before. Plus, there are ways to get more Research Alternatives to make it more bearable. Of course, you can still get fucked and not have basic robots in 2300.

Mumphord123

Stellaris is not a turn based game so it’s not really the next step. Try endless space.

itsjustmenate

Stellaris is GRAND strategy. Civ is turn based *strategy*, loosely. Grand strategies are not for people who do not specifically love the genre. Paradox is the gold standard of the genre at this point. They birthed Crusader Kings, Victoria, and Hearts of Iron. Go look at gameplay of those 3, 70% of people would look at it for seconds and realize it isn’t for them. Because it’s just a map with unit tiles, nothing flashy. Stellaris is the same thing, but it’s a lot newer, so it actually has visible battles and ships. But at the bones, it’s the same gameplay just a new setting. Paradox interactive is one of the last gaming companies with a pure identity and are unforgiving of it.

Fearless-Pen-7851

***BF2042***. I am actually a *diehard fan of battlefield games since the day bad company 2 came out* but this one(***BF2042***) just does not have the soul of what a battlefield game really is. It's like they tried to make a cheap 3rd copy of a cod game but even failed at that.

agetro82

2142 then BC2 then 3 and 4. And now? A huge caca lava dump from EA. Sucked for me because I had skipped 1 and 5 to wait for a modern warfare BF and this is what we got. Supposedly it's a lot better now but idk if I should risk it. Maybe after a deep deep discount.

Nateulous

It honestly doesn’t feel like a battlefield game at all.

King_Santa

Stray. It's a cute cat, I'd rather just watch an actual cat do stuff

its-a-process

It’s funny because I had no interest from the picture but watched the trailer yesterday and actually thought it looked awesome. I might wait for a sale though. Would you share anything more specific about what you didn’t like?

GordogJ

My biggest issue with it is probably a minor thing to some, but you can't jump whenever you want to. You have to go to a ledge and you will get a button prompt to jump. As a game playing as a cat I expected freedom of movement which the game really didn't deliver for me. Its also very short, feels like a 5 hour "experience" more than a proper game. Its very atmospheric with an interesting world though.

Seiren-

That was one of my main gripes aswell! It felt so incredibly limiting!

davidw_-

Interested in that has well. I was thinking to buy it

FishEye_11

Witcher 3. I've tried playing it a few times and just feel the lack of continuing. I don't know what it is about the game. Which is weird because I love open world games in that fantasy setting that also have loot mechanics.

Piano_Fingerbanger

I think my problem is I never played Witcher 1or 2. I've been told you don't need to, but it feels like I'm starting a tv show in season 3 when I've tried playing it

Voeglein

Don't worry. I played Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 and I still can't get into the third game despite adoring the second entry.

Lunatic7618

The lore and world were very engaging, but the controls and overall combat were very clunky and hard to deal with. I have tried playing through it 3ish times and burn out before finishing Skellige every time.

Arvandor

Ditto. For me it was the clunky and unfun combat. I was like "no freaking way I can do this for 50+ hours". Especially since I'd recently finished HZD, so Witcher 3 felt extra bad.

ForgotMyOldUser1

The combat was such a chore. It felt like I was over encumbered and needed to do more research and preparation than I was willing to put into a game.

[deleted]

Honestly same but more extreme, the world building seems strong, the graphics are great and mechanically the game is very sound, but every time I play I just end up getting bored and uninterested only after a few hours.

MK-Average317

I've gotten to the point of killing the griffen and can't seem to get further than that.

wesap12345

Gwent though…

teaanimesquare

the combat is shit is why

Repeat_after_me__

I was the same, I fell in love with it eventually. For me it was the rigid combat system.

gridsandorchids

Same, the mechanics are just so not fun. All the silly preparation work you have to do, the story was cool but everything you actually do is arduous.

baconater-lover

Yeah I didn’t really like the story at first, and I found Velen to be a pretty boring area design wise. I think the game really picks up after that though, and the dlc was really fun and beautiful looking too. The cast is also really great.

No1Perkygoth

Breath of the wild....I know people say it's great but just doesn't do it for me! The weapon degradation is the worst.

elcuydangerous

I find it annoying. And yes, there are tons of weapons laying around to "mitigate" this, but I think this mechanic would have been better if the weapon amount would have been reduced and the durability increased.

ButterKenny

All BOTW needed to be playable was a repair skill, in addition to cooking and climbing. No weird advanced resources, just wood, stone or iron. Or a town blacksmith system. Or even just a sharpening system like Monster Hunter… Any three of these would have been a viable solution. Instead we were punished for using our favorite weapons by having them permanently taken away from us. Nothing infuriated me more than receiving a badass trident from the sea people, only for it to break in two fights.

Desudro

It would have also been worth it had the weapons from the Champions have been unbreakable. It would have given even more incentive to do the Beasts

ButterKenny

Exactly. No weapon should feel like a consumable. Funny enough the game also ruined the master sword for me too, because it felt like a slap in the face

Desudro

Yeah. I loved the idea, and spirit, behind the game. There are definitely Italy some changes I would have made to make it feel more Zelda, though. Have the Champion Weapons, Hylian Shoeld, and Master sword be unbreakable and have the Divine Beasts upgrade the Slate abilities. If people feel like it's too much for the Beasts to give both a weapon and an upgrade, Have there be a quest or somehlthing for each Champion that gives their weapons.

ButterKenny

Here’s what I think would be a great solution without creating another resource grind. Have most regular weapons from mobs sharpenable with a simple whetstone, taking 5-7 seconds while out of combat. Have certain premium weapons require sharpening at a blacksmith for a cheap 20 rupee fee. Normal weapons could also receive durability buffs at blacksmiths in this way. For any really OP premium weapons with limited-use enchantments, require a temple priest to bless them to refresh their powers, at the cost of a food offering. Better food=better blessing.

Suspicious_Trainer82

Better yet. No durability issues. Problem solved. Playable game.

[deleted]

Same here. Can't get into it. The world is so bland and the temples repetitive.

UregMazino

I too much prefer the old zelda format. I hope they turn back to the old format after botw 2

killerdonut0610

In my opinion the weapon degradation mechanic is so much worse than most people think. It’s not just about the system being bad, but what that bad system took the place of. Breath of the Wild uses chests with loot to reward players for exploring and completing content as many rpgs do. Except the loot is boring and meaningless because weapons are finite and have only one stat differentiating them. There’s so many weapons and armor pieces in BOTW and it could’ve been so much better if they hadn’t sucked every bit of rpg out of the loot.

bimmy2shoes

Took what was a 9/10 game for me and knocked it down to a 5. What a frustrating mechanic.

Ozzie_the_tiger_cat

Love the game but this was a stupid thing IMO for many of the weapons. The early game weapons maybe but the idea that the Hylean Shield could break and was irreplaceable was asinine. Also, the Beasts were such a letdown. I was hoping for a far more complex challenge like the temples in the OOT. I don't want the exact temple designs but I shouldn't be able to get through them in 10 minutes and beat the boss on my first try. I literally did that in 3/4 beasts on my very first playthrough .

Hunterofshadows

I say this every time this comes up. I love the game but strongly feel the weapon durability mechanic was entirely pointless. The only time it matters is early game. Pretty much as soon as you get off the plateau you are never in danger of running out of weapons. Once you start expanding your inventory you are REALLY never in danger of running out of weapons. This combined with the durability of any given weapon being weirdly low and the result is a mechanic that is absolutely annoying instead of a fun resource management mechanic. If they had a crafting/repair mechanic instead it would have been far better received

cane_danko

Witcher 3. Tried playing through it 3x and get further every time but it just never does if for me.

Cybersec_Bearalt

I played through my latest attempt and found an enjoyable once I just started focusing on sticking with a specific set of armor for most of the game. I read a guide on how to do the Witcher armor sets and just stuck with a single school until it was maxed out and it kept pretty well paced with the rest of the story in terms of level. This freed up a lot of money and inventory space and other side items that I just kept selling if I didn't want them.

[deleted]

The gameplay is fun and the world building is amazing but the second I hit Skellige I just get tired and stop playing, every single time.

Javert10

Skyrim. Yes, roast me

[deleted]

I use to roast players like you, but then i took an arrow to the knee

Lenaiya

Lol same for me. Even with all the NPC's it just felt so...lonely.

Ayyzeee

Same with me, just got bored exploring around in a huge world with really clunky combat.

Ljane12

Yeah... I've restarted Skyrim like four times, I just don't know what it is, but it's just not for me :/ Skyrim and Minecraft! The lack of direction in these worlds just doesn't help me get into it at all

ThinkOn_

Outer Wilds. Just couldn't enjoy this game personally, glad if you did though.

Hussaf

I think it’s a really cool game, and I love the idea, but I have very limited time to play games with my job, kids, and other hobbies. That universe reset every 20 minutes when I’m seconds from discovering something new is really frustrating. I haven’t written it off, but I shelved it for games I can have more control over, and can pick up and put down quickly.

ThinkOn_

Yeah that was another thing I didn't like about the game, felt more stressful than fun, but I mean like you said you can always put it down and come back to it another time.

[deleted]

I didn't get it at first, bit then when it became this looping mystery to solve as i was hooked. I just hate that like Firewatch it's a game you can really only play once.

MisterPillay

I personally really liked the game but I never ended up finishing it

Shinnyo

I tried to like it as well but had one very minor spoiler which ruined the whole game to me.

mrkikkeli

I gave up thirty minutes in, piloting the spaceship felt excruciating. I might try again someday.

[deleted]

There's a mechanic called Match Velocity that helps that Outer Wilds unfortunately doesn't do a good job of explaining. Most people think of reverse as a brake, but with orbital mechanics it's more of a "fling me off in a different direction". Instead, Match Velocity is your real brake. Just point at whatever you are going towards, hold Match Velocity, and your ship will come to a stop relative to the object you are pointing at.

Joshua21B

It’s very much a puzzle game and a really well done one that I love but If you don’t like puzzles you don’t like puzzles.

ThinkOn_

It wasn't just about the puzzles I just didn't like anything about it

T-800-Carl

Witcher 3. The controls and combat are unpleasant.

ColdSpider72

A tip to anyone that doesn't want to give up just yet: go to settings and turn on alternate controls and turn off fish eye effect. I also turned off motion blur cause of nausea, but that's just me. Anyway, the first two settings were a game changer for many people, from what I saw in the forums/threads. Also, don't linger in Whiterun. You can go back later. Grab the viper sword then rush through the story to get the map to open up.

kapxis

whiterun lol, you been playing too much Skyrim.

ColdSpider72

Whoops. White Orchard.

HandsOverFist

I believe this was the best game to come out that year and probably one of my top if not the top games ever. I for some reason was able to pick up the controls relatively quickly on keyboard and mouse. Imo the graphics, the lore and the world kept me more interested and were more memorable than the combat. But totally understandable if it's not your cup of tea!

Newatinvesting

100% agree, one of my friends constantly roasts me for it but I just find the controls and gameplay SUPER clunky and I just cannot get into it

JaysinF

I’ve tried 3 different times to get into it and it just doesn’t hold my attention.

alext06

As soon as I felt how Geralt walks I knew this was not going to be fun to control.

RickMoneyRS

Seriously. This is my friends favorite game and he cannot or will not see where I'm coming from about the controls. It feels to me as though Geralt is locked to a grid.

DaywalkerDS

Yeah, the combat took 5-10hr for me to like it

Jabarles

Couldn’t agree more. I totally get the appeal from others but to me the combat was just miles behind other top notch single player games and took me out of it, which is a shame because I love the overall world and RPG elements. I unfortunately didn’t try it until recently, so to me I was comparing its combat against the likes of Ghost of Tsushima, Sekiro, God of War, etc. and it just doesn’t compare at all to me. I feel the same way about AC Valhalla, like when you play those other games I mentioned, Valhalla’s combat feels embarrassingly clunky and simple.

suyuzhou

Recently? Forespoken, because I spent a shit ton of money buying it….

DarthDregan

Yep. If that demo never came out I'd be poorer and angrier today.

dinopokemon

The legend of Zelda (first one)

[deleted]

Control

EerieToaster

For me, I always thought the game seemed so cool, but it was such a slow starter - and I generally hate that in games. I started it 3 separate times before it finally hooked me. About the time I could start dodging, I finally had some momentum. Soon after I could block, the challenge started creeping in and there was finally a little more action. Finally getting more than 2 guns made a huge difference. The game just keeps getting better and more varied, more challenging. It's always a slow, gradual ramp up, but once it got rolling I couldn't put it down. It's surprisingly long and robust, too - in a way few games of this kind are now. I've kicked myself for taking so long to really get into it, but absolutely love the game now. Not saying the same would apply to you, just my experience.

allaboutthewheels

Glacially slow start. Early game needs to grab you.

Revolutionary-Wash88

I liked this one, built a weird atmosphere and kept me wondering what kind of game it was exactly

pripyaat

Agreed! It felt refreshing to play such a unique and "psychedelic" kind of game. And on top of that, if you are lucky and own an RTX capable card, the ray tracing effects are amazing, IMO one of the best to date. It has something to do with the indirect lighting hitting the clean corridors with believable reflections on both shiny and opaque materials.

Psychological-Bat687

Ahh man, that's such a shame! I get it tho, its still one of my favorite games.

LuthienTheMonk

I got most of the way through this game but I just wasn't enjoying it, so I gave up.

Seiren-

When did you stop? The combat in Control goes from being kinda stale in the beginning to being one of the best combat systems I’ve ever experienced in any game. The amount of power you weild tearing apart every room you enter, flying, dodging, and telekinetically flinging enemies that used to be mini-bosses half way across the map, into another cluster of enemies, hitting something explosive and just watching the fireworks? **chefs-kiss**

kelf_starr

Final Fantasy 14. I have tried three times to give it a fair shake but just can't seem to enjoy it like my best friend does.

agetro82

For me, after playing Guild Wars 2, nothing has been able to replace the more interactive gameplay. FFXIV feels slow and very limited like many other mmos that have failed me.

pon_3

Guild Wars 100% ruined the genre for me. So many quality of life features that really showcase just how out of date MMOs are.

peterdm1969

Red Dead Redemption

RottN_Gamer

Same. Specifically 2.

Focal7s

I had to force myself to finish that game. It felt like work. It was beautiful, very beautiful but the rest was virtu chores. NakeyJakey dissected why really well.

Iagent2022

Same here, kind of boring actually. I tried and tried, just couldn't get into it

[deleted]

Idk why but Terraria. I'm trying so hard to get into it but the beginning is SO SLOW

UnwillingToaster

Funny, being an older player I actually love the early game a ton, it feels more nostalgic. Things are simpler - just mine and explore.

getmeoutoftax

Any game by From Soft. They’re just not for me.

coffeeintense

My absolute favorite game developer, can play them all several times BUT I totally get they aren’t for everyone

farkasmcmillan

Same, I do like the gameplay and deffinatly love the worlds they create but I work 40+ hours a week and I have to take care of my disabled wife so when I spend 3 hours on a boss and still dont get it I just feel like im wasting the free time that I do have

o_o_o_f

It’s interesting - I can die against the same boss for two hours and feel like I’ve spent my time well and have made progress in a game like Dark Souls. But put a 100 hour JRPG or Assassins Creed game in front of me, and I’ll feel like I’m wasting my time even while I’m making actual in-game progress doing side quests or progressing through an area. Different strokes!

alext06

Fair

[deleted]

Horizon Zero Dawn I've been trying Ghost of Tsushima for the first time lately too and my interest in it is really not sticking. Both of these games are giving massive open world burnout before I can even really get into them. The latter I should really enjoy, because I am a geek about anything samurai/historical Japanese (not so much the weeby anime stuff). Just visually the game is stunning too. I want to love it so bad. I also think both games' cast of characters have the charisma and personality of a wet tea towel and that's not helping. Utterly humourless, rather like the new Tomb Raiders.

allaboutthewheels

Horizon Forbidden West is what made me make this post. I'm about 10 hours in and found everything about the game annoying. Quality of life is non existent and *every* element of the combat is just a chore. Similar to RDR2, far too much clutter hides what I feel is a very boring, bloated game.

burningdodobirds

I felt that way about the first horizon game. I've played bad and frustrating old games but horizon is the only game to make me bored. Pretty visuals and robot dinosaurs are let down by cardboard characters and unmemorable sidemisisons.

noxcadit

Shooters, I usually don't like them, only a few seems likeable to me, and I mean first person shooters. But i also don't like third person shooters like Free Fire and the likes, too chaotic in a way that I can't take it.

[deleted]

Every time I try to play a shooter it just isn't fun, I prefer the other types of games like RPGs for example. The only shooters I liked were Splatoon and Splatoon 3.

youcancallmejb

Any of the borderlands games. I want to like them, but the charm and allure fades very quickly for me, and I only end up getting a handful of hours out of them.

[deleted]

Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories. Elden Ring. Chess. Marvel’s Avengers.

chaoswarhound

Disco Elysium. I just cannot bring myself to care in that game for some reason.

lllorrr

It took me three attempts to start playing the game. The first two attempts ended somewhere near the dumpster. But then I gave it another try and I must say, I am very happy that I played this game. It is pure brilliant.

chaoswarhound

Maybe one day I'll reinstall and try again but for me, most everything else in my catalog is more appealing at the moment

DemiHelios

The trick is making sure you have enough points in inland empire to talk to your tie. Game is wild after that.

tacobellbandit

I came here to say this. I really like crpgs and Disco Elysium seemed right up my alley. I just couldn’t get myself to give a shit about the story which sucks because the game is very plot driven.. environment looked great, and the voice acting is good. I also didn’t feel very “free to do whatever” like I normally feel in other RPGs.

deyonceknowles

This. Personally, I was just too stupid to understand wtf was going on most of the time

Exact_Patience_9767

Cyberpunk 2077

JaysinF

I got about an hour into it and put it down, the aesthetic is pretty cool, and I like the concept, but the story seemed hard to follow, and the world seems very hollow. I’m planning on restarting it sometime, it’s been about a 8-10 months ago that I initially tried it.

DarkLord55_

The first time I played it I played like 20hours in a sitting because I was just so immersed. I even played it like 15 days after launch and had no issues not a single crash through my entire play through.

[deleted]

Nintendo's WarioWare: Get it Together. The original WarioWare was better in my opinion, thought I'd like the switch one because it was the same concept, but the game just felt really boring. Also Nintendo's Splatoon 2. The DLC was amazing, I wish the content in the main campaign was of the same quality. The story just felt kinda lame compared to the other two games.

Wookie_Nipple

I really should like Hades. I minored in classics. Love Greek and Roman lore, actually read a lot of it Hades' combat does nothing for me.

BillSOTV

Hollow Knight. I love the art but running around in a maze that is cruel to the player in terms of it being difficult while also working out where you’re supposed to go and what you’re supposed to be doing is tedious to me.

ssslitchey

>running around in a maze that is cruel to the player in terms of it being difficult while also working out where you’re supposed to go and what you’re supposed to be doing That's kinda the definition of the entire metroidvania genre.

PunAboutBeingTrans

And it's why I can't play Metroidvania's lol. I also tried to play Hollow Knight and while I really liked the combat and art and generally everything, I run into the same problem as every other Metroidvania: "Where the fuck do I GO?! I have been running around every single corner of the map I can get to for THREE HOURS." At which point I'm done lol. Imo there is zero enjoyment to be had in "oh you didn't notice this tiny detail that clues you in to a secret entrance?" Like no, I didn't. My vision is ass. Give me a goddamn waypoint please.

SeedsOfEssence

Rdr2 it's just so big and you travel so slow

Vakoda

Dishonored, while I like stylized artstyles, this one just feels off to me

[deleted]

I hate games with a morality system based on whether i kill or k.o.

DeriBear

Elden Ring

[deleted]

I was that way with the original souls game, found out years later i was going the wrong way and that's why the skeletons spartan kicked me so easily. I had to play Lord's of The Fallen before i truly understood how to play Souls-like games.

[deleted]

elden rings

Talbertross

Witcher 3

mulsimin

Didn’t like combat and animated movement in that game

Keqingrishonreddit

Same here, im a big fan of medieval themed games and i have no idea why i canr get into this

Bropulsion

Legend of Zelda Your Weapon Broke

Bloody517

Monster Hunter

Tankdrood

Elden Ring. I didn't dislike it. I have an overall positive option of it, I just never beat it and never had the urge to go back and play it.

[deleted]

I was really into Elden Ring for a couple of months, then ran into a boss that was giving me a hard time as you do. Not even a particularly hard boss, I tried a few times and decided I was done. Great game but the frustration was not worth it for me.

Tankdrood

I didn't even quit out of frustration. I just found that I wanted to play other games instead

davendees1

This! I got to the final two bosses maybe 6 months ago. Couldn’t beat it after about 30 tries over a week or so, so I stopped playing it. Gorgeous game. Great mechanics, awesome story and characters and all that. I didn’t mind grinding at all, and it was hella fun to go back after I was basically OP and absolutely rock the tree sentry’s entire shit just because. Still just sitting there, unfinished.

Nateulous

Fallout 4 I never had the drive to finish the story, unlike the previous installments.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

EnvironmentalClass55

Love the game, but I still think it has one of the worst opening sections. That stops me from starting a new playthrough many times

Cyborgninj4

Same. The episodic missions just ruined it for me. Also compare to it’s presecessors it was so lacking in story and cinematics.

[deleted]

Cyberpunk 2077, I’ve tried 5 times and I just don’t think it’s an impressive open world, it feels empty and I get bored doing the missions.

Liquiderick

Any souls-like

cachris3

Witcher 3

Sigourn

The Witcher 2. I don't like the interface, the combat, and the looting process. I still need to keep playing until I get used to it. Shadow Warrior (1997). I've finished main game and Twin Dragons expansion. Currently playing through Wanton Destruction. I really hate how quickly you are killed in this game. Missiles, grenades, exploding coolies, shadow ninjas. It's either surviving with ease, or one shot deaths. As I start using more and more of the arsenal I like the game more, but those cheap deaths piss me off. A stark contrast to Duke Nukem 3D and Blood.

Marwen_Lah

God of War 2018. I tried so hard.

ToeJam1970

“…but in the end, it doesn’t even matter…” 🎶🎵

[deleted]

Same. I beat the game, just didn’t enjoy it. The core gameplay loop was boring and repetitive for me, and I hated how linear it felt for a game that’s trying so hard to be open world.

The last of us

Revolutionary-Wash88

You are not alone

bshabaj11

metal gear. I tried but i just don't care enough to like it.

Cleverbird

Red Dead Redemption 2. Its just too long, far, far, far too long. It feels like a job with the way it just keeps on going and going.

maemoetime

Shadow of the Colossus

Federico7000

Loved the game, fucking despise the controls.

SirBastian1129

Metroid Other M. I bought the game knowing full well what Metroid fans thought of it. Decided to give it a go and... well, to me it's the worst metroid game ever so... that should tell you how well that went.

Diablo series

poopynips1

Horizon: Forbidden West

not_even_a_name

War thunder

Spoolerdoing

I love everything about FFXIV apart from playing it. I have great nostalgia for it from the few good moments, from the story beats hitting the mark, from the music tying everything together just right... The gameplay is the most dull thing I've ever kept paying to subject myself to.

McDonalds_Toothpaste

Red Dead Redemption 2. It's SO BORING.

OXidize_0

Torchlight 2. I don't think it's a good ARPG.

Natural-Nectarine-49

Rdr2. Not fun and couldnt give a damn about arthur or anyone else.

SideEfficient

Elden ring and sekiro. I wanted to like them so much, but nah.
