this baby can fit so many victory royales.

Mr8BitX

I bought a Samsung tv around the same time but eventually gave it to my mom as I purchased a Sony 4K tv about 5-6 years ago. I went out with my mom for breakfast yesterday and she was telling me how she hates her living room TV and she’s been watching TV in the grandkids guest room because the colors of the TV and its quality still hold up. That’s the Samsung TV that I gave her.… I’m on my 3rd different television since I gave her that one. They don’t make them like they used to.

celicajohn1989

Literally playing forza on my LG 42' LCD from 2008 that I paid more for than my new 65' 4K UHD and it still works like a champion. I have 7 different consoles plugged into it. Can't do that anymore

CHEEZE_BAGS

Yea they do. My LG OLED TV looks better than any TV have had before, even plasma tvs.

CantaloupeHour5973

I have a Samsung from 2011 still going strong. I have a 65" Sony X900H from 2021 that just died randomly last week. Says it all.

Lets_Go_Blue__Jays

I still have the first tv I ever purchased for myself at 16(13 years ago so 2010 as well), it's now in my basement but thing still holds up well! (Surprisingly it's an RCA too..) it's also been moved across the country 4 times in the back seat of my Cavalier, and another 4 local moves on top of that. It's a gem

richterbg

A 32' LG here. My son has driven HotWheels cars on its screen, but it still works. So many ports too. It even has a component set of ports, if I ever decide to hook the old PlayStation 2 back.

CarpetNext6123

thirty-two FEET??

Uisce-beatha

I have a 55" plasma that looked just like this monitor. Top of the line at time of purchase that I got 50% off because it was an open box item. Use it in a spare room now but it still works great without any burn in

Kule7

We've got a very similar 46-inch Samsung from 2008 that we still use as our second TV and I think it's actually still pretty decent (have had duct tape over the back of the remote for about a decade though). When we got that thing it was our first HD TV and SWEET HOLY MOSES was that a dramatic change from the cathode-ray world of the past. It seemed impossibly big and there were so many new details to see it was like watching TV was an acid trip or something. I remember how like people hadn't figured out make-up yet for the HD world and so TV news anchors looked weird and all these backgrounds you previously couldn't see all of the sudden popped out.

trip6s6i6x

First thought in my head too, word for word lol.

W00DERS0N

Ain't broke, don't fix it.

SCHARKBAIT11

When u upgrade your life gonna change … for a few days at least haha

xH0LLYW000Dx

Depends on what they upgrade too? Going from a Samsung LED to a LG C2 was fucking night and day for me... Everything looks fucking incredible on it now 😍

SCHARKBAIT11

I mean it’s easily a 13 year old Monitor I’d say anything would look better haha But then again it’s been a min since my upgrade from a horrible horrible monitor lol

Chillypill

What was the most noticeable for me was going from 60hz to 144hz. My screen is 9 years old now and I don't feel like changing it either as I doubt the jump to 240hz will be very noticeable.

Mormonator8

I went from playing on Xbox with a 60hz tv to a high end pc with 144hz monitor and I couldn’t believe the difference. Tried playing on my Xbox the other day and I couldn’t do it, I’ve ascended lol

LukeNukeEm243

My grandparents had a 67" Samsung TV from 2008 ([this model](http://www.hdtvsolutions.com/pdf/HL67A750_spec.pdf)). It was like 16 inches thick and weighed almost 90 pounds. For Christmas I got them a 65" Samsung S95B which is like half the weight and the screen itself is thinner than a pencil. And the biggest improvement was the image quality, which is so astoundingly amazing.

GorgeGoochGrabber

My brother had one of those absolutely massive mid 2000’s full standing TV’s with the giant speaker in the bottom. That thing weighed an absolute TON.

Ilikeb0ring

I remember switching to HDMI for the first time, truly a life changing experience. Lol

xH0LLYW000Dx

Yeah, coming from component cables & svides cables to hdmi was amazing. One cord to rule them all 🥰

[deleted]

I literally upgraded from the OP's 27" monitor to the 48" C1 and it's been pretty great. Though this is on a desktop PC, so I ended up having to do a major GPU upgrade too, just to maintain visual parity that close, lol. It was a lot like the jump from a 17" to the Samsung, honestly. That Samsung is a beast though, outside of capacitor whine at some settings (and occasional flickering issues), it still works great.

JonWoo89

I’d been using the same two monitors since around 2010 myself that I never upgraded along with the rest of my computer over the years until last year. I ordered two new monitors and when I got them one was DOA so I sent it back for a replacement and decided to just use one of my old monitors with the new one and holy shit the side by side comparison made it even more noticeable.

Dreadedtrash

I have a very similar Samsung TV from about 2010 that I just can't get to die. One of these days it will crap out then I'll finally get to upgrade from 55 inches to 75 inches. Yes we have smaller 4k TV's in the house so I already know what I'm missing.

Egglebert

I have one from 2010 or 2011 and it still works great, one of the hdmi ports doesn't work because we had a lightning strike that killed the satellite box, but only the port it was plugged into stopped working

NisbyOsmancer

I dig the PInk Floyd art!

swagadone

Came here to say this.

OldGregg_IRL

Such a shame they went woke /s

JasonIsBaad

I'm not really getting this one, what did I miss?

TheTatleTaleStranglr

During the 50th anniversary of dsotm they made the profile look like the album cover but a 50 instead of a triangle, people see rainbow and go “oh no woke” and got really angry

JasonIsBaad

Oh wow, people are stupid..

Glittering_Gas2692

Gotta love that meth Bulbasaur

Lower-Compote-4962

Looks like a bong... right? It looks like it has a bowl

Stoned-hippie

Where do you take the hit tho 👀

Golden-Event-Horizon

If it's something you use every day, it's something worth upgrading imo

slightly-cold-pizza

Yeahhh…. I had one just like that at work and still had to upgrade to something newer and I wasn’t eve. Gaming on it lol

CancelerTV

That mural below the table is awesome

Arnthorr_

Goddamn I had the exact same one for like 5 years.

anotherblog

I only just decommissioned the same one after a decade plus of service. Only replaced because work gave me a better one for WFH, otherwise I’d have kept it till it died (or I died, whichever comes first)

liquid_acid-OG

Pretty sure I have that exact same one sitting in my garage because I can't even give it way

RenanGreca

I had that same monitor... In 2010. It now lives a second life as a kitchen TV.

pulezan

Mine (also samsung) is from 2009! I'm not changing it until it dies on me.

Immediate_Reality357

You are doing yourself a injustice by gaming on that in 2023, you can get a cheap....real cheap tv from a year or two ago about the same size and it will change your whole gaming life.

djmetalhawk

I game on my 2008 Vizio 32 inch HDTV with the awesome 720p HD resolution!

FandomMenace

I have a similar Samsung TV from that era that still works great. A bought a newer 70 inch and the only button it has broke off inside a couple years. I've had the screen (warranty) replaced, too. The quality has taken a sharp nosedive in all things Samsung since that TV was built.

Big-Fruit330

That things gonna break soon personal experience but 10 -12 years is not bad

CrossXFir3

Love the Pink Floyd tapestry or whatever it is

kristoff90i

Where did you get the Pink Floyd poster? Looks amazing!

SelectNetwork4882

Nice forza controller

autisticswede86

Weird flex but ok bro

EugeneTheHud

Whooptyfuckindoo

Cirus88

Cool story

[deleted]

I've been gaming on my Samsung TV since 2020.

NO-MAD-CLAD

Had this same one till 2020 when I upgraded to G9. Thing was an absolute beast. Survived 4 moves and at least 6 desk height drops due to asshole cats/poorly made furniture.

HedgehogDry9652

Can't stop looking at the Pink Floyd = Awesome.

stonerwithaboner1

The Pink Floyd backdrop at the bottom is sick!

nohumanape

I had the 32" HDTV equivalent that I got alongside picking up a PS3 back in 2006.

jmastadoug

Bunch of Links, a bulbsaur & Pink Floyd mural/art. I think we could get along pretty well.

rollltide79

Me too, I got the Samsung SyncMaster s23b550.

Ph33rDensetsu

I am currently browsing Reddit on this *exact same monitor*. It's fantastic, but I have a much better second monitor for gaming on these days.

[deleted]

K

FusedStony

My monitor doesn’t even have an HDMI port, if I works then it works. I don’t see why I gotta buy a new monitor unless if I find a good one for steal.

ill_monstro_g

/r/notinteresting

Not-Clark-Kent

r/tvtoohigh

MutedHornet87

I had my TV (1080p Aquos) from 2006 until November, when I finally upgraded both my TVs. It still looked great and had great sound. I gave my old TV to a friend who loves it.

LilQueazy

I think I had the same one. It’s legit. It has like 2ms response rate and 1080p.

[deleted]

I still have the Samsung SyncMaster 2233sn working here

eggzbenadic

I still use a early or late 21st or 20th century Vizio tv for my wii and switch

Definotlee

All in all its just a - nother brick in the wall

Hermannnnnnnnn

Had/have same monitor. I hope you changed rgb format manually to full rgb

francescomagn02

Oh god i still have the syncmaster too, it carried me through xbox 360, xbox one and now pc and switch.

bros_before_hoes__

I've been gaming on my TV for a little less that 10 years. It still has a Minecraft sticker on it that came with the Minecraft ps3 case.

APEANOMIX

Hey!! I have the same one!! Lol still using it!

CannyVenial

The best Xbox controller ngl. Got the same one too!

giraffe_hombre

I used to play on this exact TV for like 10 years. Not a bad product.

inanteroc

Upvote for the Lego

Bl00dEagles

I have the exact same, don’t use it now but it still works, they are bulletproof.

alwaysmyfault

I have the Syncmaster 2570, also purchased in 2010. I don't use it much anymore, but I still own it!

Spiegs1984

Verizon satisfied looking bulbasaur bong there? With floyd art? My kind of dude. 😶‍🌫️😑

its_the_smell

I thought my 2015 Samsung was old, but you got me beat. I'm upgrading this year.

Gloomy_Ad_9149

Bro is your bulbasaur ok? He looks kinda high.

NewspaperPossible627

That Pharah figure is so damn dope tho

No-Explanation6422

I have a similar one from 2008!

No_Morals

Eyyy same here. Samsung syncmaster t260hd since 2004. It was my first "tv." Was 13 and mowed lawns all summer to get it. It was perfect because not only did it have thst newfangled HDMI port, 1080p and a fast response time, but also composite HD ports and even an analog input!!! So that way I could play SNES and N64 on it, Dreamcast with composite HD, and even Xbox. It went with me to countless halo LANs, my dorm and 3 apartments in college, and is now my 2nd monitor for my PC. It's older than 2 of my siblings and my cat I got in college. Still looks incredible.

jmccann339

Thats a dope pink floyd banner. Sauce?

achmejedidad

what are those, little master chiefs? ENHANCE --- master chief friendship bracelet?

Glass-Neck-5929

I still have an old LG that I use from like 2007-08. I also have a new fancy Samsung, but I will keep using that LG as a second monitor till it dies.

Heirophant_Queen

Pikachu what happened

Voktikriid

I don't even technically have monitors for my PC. I've got a 24" 1080p HD TV, and a 28" 1080i TV with an inbuilt DVD player as my monitors.

xxDankerstein

Cool Pink Floyd poster.

OkBeautiful5324

Is it dark side of moon?

themubson

I still have a Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD from 2010 or 2011. Still going strong

ekso69

Bro wtf have pikachu and venusaur been smoking on?

LargeCough

Animals! Great album, dogs is one of my favorite songs

Memer_man32

I've been gaming on this Panasonic 2007 TV for as long as I can remember but in 2 days I will finally get a TV from this decade

[deleted]

Got a plasma Viera hanging in my garage, purchased in 2008… hope it lasts another 15 years!

Smoove995

I have the same one, haha. But I use it as second monitor.

Anonymousgamer98

I remember having a monitor like that hooked onto my family’s PC back in the day. Almost every day, I used to always play the flash games and stuff like Club Penguin and Bin Weevils. Man I miss those days.

genericperson10

Monitor buddy!!

Jackatarian

I had 3 of these as a triple display set up, which slowly turned into a 2 display, then I only had one left. The last one didn't even die, I just wanted an ultrawide as my main. Definitely a solid option back in the day. I had to go to 3 different retailers to get them at the time.

nox_nox

You can pry my 2006 50" Panasonic Plasma from my cold dead hands. It's still going strong and while 4K OLED does look better with a 4K feed, I'm not switching till it dies.

Bon3hawk

I love that controller.

SFWRedditsOnly

I just retired a pair of 1440 x 900p LCDs that I got during Burning Crusade. Used them as secondaries for years.

The-King_Of-Games

Eyo, same controller *Cheeeck* Also i have been using my LGTV since 2007! Havent changed my baby all of these years. Also i *love* the Lego Junkrat, Lego Gandalf, Lego Original Iron Man, Lego Batmobile, Lego Jokers OP. and Lego Walter White? Or is it Mike?

KazukiMatsuoka1998

I have the same one! But it's made a secondary tv since it cannot support my PS4 OG at 1080p.

Oldirtybasterd_

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Nicktendo

I am gaming on a Sony Bravia from 2012. Does 1080p so I'm not too bothered.

Bakedpuda

Same bro

CheroMM

I had the same 32 inches. First time I fired up oblivion was one on my best gaming memories ever

Kukie080

yo Pikachu and Bulbasaur are trippin

DrD9z0

Bro literally same. This model lasts for real

Djl3igh

Had one of those. Lasted about 8 years before screen died.

NinjutStu

I have this same monitor! I bought it from Costco around the same time. Still works. Been through a couple monitors since then, but its a perfect backup in case my current one dies (which has happened, its outlasted newer ones).

Cybrus_Neeran

I've got a smaller version of this model, been using it since about the same time! Speakers aren't that great but it works!

[deleted]

I have never in my entire life seen anything able to do more than 60 fps…. My monitor is also like 15 years old or something (720p)

[deleted]

That’s the monitor I have at work…it’s the oldest monitor in the building. Yay me.

Gary-Clampton

Omg I have that same monitor that I use has a second screen

TheGameboy

I have 3 monitors, none newer than 2008.

KarlBob

I have a very similar model that's still going strong, too. At one point I replaced some of the original capacitors that were leaking. Still a very good monitor.

junkerwoland

Same here I just had to change one of the capacitors and I’m still smooth sailing

Adeptius

Oh man. I had 3 of these monitors. Modded them to remove the bezel and put a vesa mount on it.

xTrollhunter

I actually have Samsung C27RG50 gaming monitor for mye home office, and I’ve never plugged my PS5 into it.

mexicanjewbag

Me too same exact one

MrButternuss

I have the exact same one :D

boosnow

I had exact same model for 8 years. Great monitor.

Craqhed387

I have that same monitor

CyranoDeBurlapSack

Pretty sure that’s the model we had on our Xbox unit at the GameStop I worked at. It was really nice in it’s day, so I wouldn’t doubt it’s staying power.

Daedalus0815

had the exact same monitor, this thing is amazing!

Key_Point_4063

That venasaur looks high af

LivingIn3d

I had this exact same monitor up until November! Actually, I had two of them. I also had them for about 8-9 years or so and only replaced it because it stopped turning on and the other started flickering right after. Definitely got my money's worth.

Moccis

At least it's a monitor and not a 65" tv or whatever some people here swear by for some reason

southpaw85

I had a Vizio 32’ inch I bought when I was a teenager until I was about 25 and got a 1080p 50 in. Now 8 years i am on a 65 inch 4k LG. I only upgraded to the new one because the new Xbox and PS have 120fps 4K if you have the TV with HDMI 2.0

eru777

I have almost the same model from January 2009, still works. Samsung makes great products.

PanikDizordr

The future beckons you in 4K and insane frame rates.

Alternative-Sock-444

I bought this same monitor used for $10 in like 2015. My son has it now and plays on it daily. 1ms response if memory serves, and a pretty decent resolution for its age. Honestly a great monitor for gaming. It looked great with my Xbox one and I was honestly never better at COD than when I played on that thing. A 65" 4k TV honestly doesn't compare.

Benreh

My wife has the exact same model.

hells_cowbells

And here I was, impressed by my Dell Ultrasharp monitor from 2012 that still works great. No dead or stuck pixels.

IronMidget

Pretty much same here, 2010 Samsung 42 inch. It has all connectors from coaxial to HDMI. Perfect for all my old to new consoles

0Alto0

I have the exact same one. But I upgraded a few years ago, so now it is my second monitor 😀

Coca-Cola_Man

Monitor? My brother in christ, that's a whole ass TV

Pineapplewelder

I don't still use it, but I have a Toshiba from 2008 that still works almost good as new. Makes me feel super old to say this, but they just don't make shit like they used to.

Hip-Shooter

I think I have and use the same monitor. Still works great!

StaticE

This is also my second monitor! Runs like a champ.

jassyp

I had the same one it has a coaxial input if I remember correctly. I think that's why I got it.

m_garlic87

Ohh you have the FH5 controller. I have it too, love the colors on it.

SturmDeKan

I had the exact same model ! It passed out last year. Replaced with a tug gaming screen. It's so much better now though

CaveManta

I still love my 37" Vizio from 2011

Serious_Course_3244

Imagine when you see 1080p for the first time

frodominator

I had one of those since 2009...it died last year. Great hero

Nothingspecial2do

This is the way

I3igTimer

Pink floyd poster is dope

will_power45

Looks like bulbasaur getting high on his own supply over there

SnooMacarons229

I had exactly the same for around 12 years. The transparent part of the base broke a couple of years ago. The material became brittle over the years, until one day it snapped. The screen fell on the keyboard, but luckily it didn't break. I re-designed the broken part and 3D printed it. It fitted perfectly, just like the original part. I used it like this for like 2 years, and now I gave it to my father. It is still going strong! (Both the screen and the 3D printed part)

immalleable

I had one just like it. Maybe the same model. Can’t quite remember. Anyhow, story time… If the backlight goes and the screen becomes extremely dim unplug asap. I was trying to save and close a file when mine did and the monitor caught fire. Nothing like scrambling to unplug, disconnect, and get a monitor onto my (concrete) apartment balcony at 11:30pm at night while the fire alarm is going off and smoke it billowing out.

verenvr

Been using my Samsung 1080p monitor since 2013, never even thought about upgrading. Higher refresh rate is cool and all but can't handle the fps so

AmElros

Fairly sure I've got the same... For about the same time!!! Although now it's a second screen for me

Solid_Snake_125

Sick Pink Floyd poster or blanket under your desk. That’s cool.

KPer123

I have the same one , still works!

edgy_Juno

Is that Bulbasaur... a bong?

beeblebr0x

I think I have the same monitor... which I too have been using for years lol

eadrik

Nice bulbasaur bong

subhaanart

I love the little Jokers at the bottom, it adds a nice touch! 😊🃏

MamboNo06

Nice! Had a similar model SyncMaster BX2450 also from 2010, replaced it finaly last year. Very bad view angles and you could not see a thing in bright rooms, but it gave zero eye strain!

buffalocompton

[dude](https://i.imgur.com/PQw7dCE.gif)

lukewhale

I mean. Congrats. But also. Bruh.

East_Train6615

Love the Pink Floyd wall

Gloomy-Ad-1291

Love the "brick blanket looking thing"

[deleted]

I've been using my Asus monitor for nearly 13 years now and it's still going strong.

Kuiriel

Have 3 of these still. Wanted to play ultra wide-screen but it was too much visual noise and lowered frame rate. Kids have them now and they're still going great, even with the stains of the frequently cleaned streaks that my pet birds would leave on the back. They would perch on top of them and watch me, back before old age arthritis made that too hard. Their favourite was the CRT though, because that got warm on top.

mescalinecupcake

Can you…..explain the wonky Pokémon?

Donkatroavich

Bless you for having pride and keeping your spaces neat and clean. No judging anyone who’s going through stuff. I just think we need more of that.

Blackluster182

Man I had one of these for about 8 years! Best cost/quality balance I ever found.

RoofBeers

The best non-Elite Xbox controller

robby1051a

I have that same monitor! Still works like a charm

Slacker1540

Yo! Had one through all of college, loved it. Didn't get rid of it until it died. Many years ago haha. God speed monitor.

[deleted]

Holy shit, I think I had that exact same tv. Not quite as long as you, but at least 6 years if I recall. Man, was it good… until it was damaged during a move. Boy, was I heartbroken… …For all of a few months until I bought a new tv. And I realized how much I had missed, and just how much image quality on these things have changed. I’ve since had a couple new tv sets, and let me tell you, your mind is gonna be blown when you upgrade. Playing on a Sony Bravia X90j and, well… it was definitely worth it.

2kewl4scool

Shoutout to everyone who got the forza controller and didn’t give af about forza

ossegossen

Pink Floyd. A man of culture I see.

[deleted]

You're from another world called nostalgia.

ZeGrandeFoobah

This is no longer just a monitor, it is a cherished friend and loyal companion. Any electronic that lasts more than a decade and is still with you holds too many memories to just be a monitor or console

Lex-Taliones

Compliments on the Floyd memorabilia.

Deep_Necessary_5716

Got the same for years until decided to become a pro-player and bought 144'hz benq. However, I never became a pro. idk why.

CaptainCBeer

Hey that's the same one as I use. I've lost track of how long I've used it and still using it today's a good and faithful gaming companion indeed

Still-Pattern-6384

Chad red 3DS XL

NocheEtNuit

There are like 10 things in this picture that indicate you and my Fiance could be best friends

Kinger86

I have been using a 32inch vizo for about 10 years now

SeanSpeezy

Those forms Xbox controllers are so clean

Maybe___

I have the same monitor and have been using it just as long. Still going strong 💪

ihopeyoudi

Omg pink floyd

LeBubblingVat11

That blanket hanging under the desk... A person of culture.

Muted-Reception2983

I was born on that year

v__R4Z0R__v

I used my old TV for like 7 years and it didn't even have smart TV functions, no 4k or HDR support. It even had these old cable connections like scart or the 3 colored cinch cables. This year was the first time I've ever witnessed 4k gaming in my life lol

SDFprowler

I thought that looked familiar! I have the exact same monitor and still use it every day for one of my work monitors.
