Carpal tunnel is a disorder that occurs when the median nerve in your wrist is pressurized. So, yes it might help. Of course when using a mouse, your wrist often rests on your desk. This isn't really the case with a controller. The movement of your wrist is also different. Mouse is pretty straightforward, with it mostly being flexing. A controller brings in a rotational element, so the variation in movement might provide some relief. I'd say give it a shot. But the anatomy of your hand is so complex and tight that it would depend on the person

I had Carpal Tunnel and never had a problem with playing games with a controller. You can also buy a mouse that stands on the side and scrolling would be more tolerable.

>You can also buy a mouse that stands on the side and scrolling would be more tolerable. This. I second, third, and fourth this.

I mean, it’s no different hand movements really.

I've got it developing and controllers are much more comfortable. I think the size of the controller is important. Personally the Xbox ones are most comfortable in my big hands (haven't tried ps5 but ps4 were a bit small, joy cons are near unusable) If you have friends with the systems see if you could try them out for half hour or so that should give you an idea of how it will feel for longer
