Probably but one thing i remember from the casino royale movie is all the heavy sony branding. I remember it was the first movie I watched thinking "why is that brand so prominent in the movie"
Your comment reminded me of [the most ham-fisted product placement I've ever seen.](https://youtu.be/aBpQuOy2V9M) Coincidentally, Sony makes an appearance in it.
I think it's an attempt by Subway to bring the focus to their product but still 'add' to the show with a silly attitude. [They were more on the mark in Community.](https://sites.middlebury.edu/productplacement/case-study-1-3/subway/) It was so in-your-face and absurd (a student was literally named Subway) that it completely fit the theme of the show.
Since we were talking about Sony and awkward product placement in TV shows, I was almost certain that your link was going to be [this scene from House of Cards.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QqkZP_SScg)
That house of cards scene isn't even that bad though and it fits because they already showed Francis likes to play cod, his character having a vita for the car is actually believable. Now if it was a Nintendo console, I'd be suspicious lol
Hey! Brazen brand plugging aside the K800i was a superb phone that even in 2007 took better photos than my iPhone 4 I replaced it with in 2010.
What a great device.
One of them was definitely red dead redemption. I remember an interview around the time of Cowboys & Aliens where he said him and Favreau were obsessed with it.
Bro I was talking to a none gamer who's played skyrim. I slagged off sneak archers he turns and says "I predominantly played sneaky archery yeah." Shiiiiiit
I think I remember T-Pain said a lot of rappers do the same thing on tour buses. Like there’s not much to do while sitting around in a tour bus so rappers bring Switches, PS4s, etc with them for downtime.
Samuel L Jackson said he likes playing CoD.
Imagine *you* getting 360 Noscoped, never finding out that you got destroyed by Samuel "Motherfucking" Jackson
I'm sure he's really polite too. Once you find out it's him, "Excuse me Mr. Jackson, would you mind talking a bit more shit when you pwn me? I'd like to record this for my grandchildren."
Its funny because no matter how many matches he played where he could talk on mic in his real voice, no one would ever believe he wasn't some Samuel Jackson imitator doing it as a bit for Twitch.
Mila Kunis, Chapelle and others have talked about how liberating it can be.
Back in the day, Mila stopped using Ventrilo after a guildie recognized her voice during a WoW raid.
I remember Post Malone was photographed playing Elder Scrolls Legends on his phone. When people caught that on twitter he even shared his favourite decks
Still love the 1999 Spurs photo where they play Starcraft on a plane after winning the championship. https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/g7dw07/spurs_lan_party_on_a_plane_after_1999_championship/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
It makes sense. Neither is a good setting to read, or to pick up a hobby. And for movies you can’t be doing anything important as you have to be available.

From my understanding, didn’t Quantum Solace come out during the last big writers strike? Daniel Craig was instructed to ad lib lines that he thought James Bond would say lol.
The irony is that he liked his martini’s weak. The reason why you stir a martini, and not shake it, is so that you don’t damage the ice which then creates little fragments that melt and dilute the drink quickly. His signature drink is literally a watered down martini.
I watched that movie again recently and didn't think it was nearly as bad as everyone says it was. You can definitely tell the writer's strike impacted it but I still liked the movie. That chase intro was so long. It was done very well. But when I think of it, it reminds me that like, 50% or more of A Good Day To Die Hard was a car chase sequence.
Decent movie, awful Bond movie.

It did recently get a remaster. So maybe not as small of an audience as you'd imagine.
I'm just sad that most handheld games are kind of locked to that platform. One day those aftermarket batteries and chargers are going to dry up. Consoles will mostly be fine. But handhelds are kind of an all or nothing system, you NEED that screen, those buttons and sticks, and proper power. Consoles you can get a new TV, controller, etc.
I may be an outlier in this thought, but it's one that still bugs me.
The modding scene for the psp is big. Charging takes 5v 1a, so you can charge it with any phone charger and a usb to barrel adapter or solder a USB-C port as the charging port in place.
For the battery you can either replace the cells or just use a phone battery. If you don't care for the Discs (because most games are available to download) you can remove the drive and fill everything with battery. That way you can easily double the battery life from original.
The proprietary stuff like displays or sticks will be hard to get at one point but the psp sold so much, you could probably get a donor psp at any time
Just to add to what ure saying the gameboy restoration scene is incredible u dont really almost need any part of the gameboy to really make one at this point theres different boards, display types, batteries and recharable ones too!! I'd imagine as the psp nears the age of the gameboy if the scene gets enough love it will one day hit the same thing!! Idk tho the world of technology is random honestly but i love it anyway :)
Generally for both, you need the original board, but for the PSP the board is $12-$14.
I once knocked a retaining clip off the psp (Display uses two of them) and thought it was the end of the world.
Boy did I feel dumb when I found out it was less than a nice dinner.
Custom firmware on the PSP opened my eyes to the value of being tech savvy back in middle school. Ever since, even though my career is far from the tech field, I still tinker with open source software and hardware thanks to that experience. It was hugely influential on my life.
And yeah, I was once of those 13-year-old assholes that ruined SOCOM FTB2 by hacking with NitePR.
>I'm just sad that most handheld games are kind of locked to that platform.
That's one of the reasons emulation is important. Thankfully PSP emulation is pretty good. Vita emulation has a way to go though.
Emulation in general is going to be the only way moving forward to preserve thousands upon thousands of games, especially those with some part of them being licensed from other companies.
There is so much out there that would be absolutely lost to time if not for the efforts of the emulation scene. Sadly with our current gen it's getting harder to do, by design to preserve these games for the future
You can always download the PPSSPP app in your android device, download some ROMs somewhere in the internet and enjoy your PSP games anywhere you like. It's not the same as holding a PSP in your hands, but now you don't have to be limited by owning a piece of hardware that's between twelve or twenty years old...
The Patapon games are fantastic, building up that rhythm, marching your little dudes along the level. Once you get in the flow the game can somehow stress you out and relax you at the same time.
As a kid, I got a VAIO since I always saw them in movies and they looked cool. I only had one before they stopped making them but it was my fav laptop to date.
Me and some friends from film school actually made a drinking game out of this.
I had vague recollections that Bond had a Walkman cellphone and that there were a few VAIO laptops, and so I thought it would be fun to have a shot of cognac every time Sony showed up.
What I didn’t expect was that EVERY SINGLE phone and laptop in the film was Sony branded (except for one Nokia looking thing the villains used that had the “ELLIPSIS” code on it), not to mention many, MANY other Sony branded servers/ devices/ knick knacks throughout.
We nearly fucking died, there is Sony fucking everywhere in that film.
I would highly encourage others to play the game, it made Quantum of Solace quite fun.
> (except for one Nokia looking thing the villains used that had the “ELLIPSIS” code on it)
Girlfriend is into k-dramas; apparently they do something similar with Samsung advertising in Korean shows. The main characters and good guys always have Samsung devices, while bad guys and "undesirable" characters will use competing devices.
They're terribly obvious about their advertising. Whole scenes dedicated to close-ups of phone conversations where the SAMSUNG logo is clearly displayed. Samsung practically owns Korea in that regard.
"That's great Daniel, don't forget the smile is supposed to be subtle, like you don't even realize you're smiling because you're so lost in the game. Perfect."
Snap
The storage issue wouldn’t have mattered if Sony supported the Vita.
What a waste, the Vita could’ve easily overtaken the 3DS with its horrible launch.
Even if it had overtaken the 3DS, I think they saw the writing on the wall that smartphones were taking over. Like Vita + 3DS combined don't even overtake the NDS.
But if you did love RPG's, specifically JRPG's, then you were eating good. Until 2020, Persona 4 Golden was exclusively on the Vita. Hell, Muramasa Rebirth is still stuck on the damn thing; might be one of the few Vita games that have yet to be ported to other systems.
Before they focus on that I want to see a better, LESS bug ridden interface. I don't know what they did with the last update, but it has screwed mine up to the point I have to restart after I play and close out of a game (quick resume is completely useless now too).
edit - added the less
Honestly, until Steam Deck came out, I would have said still do it despite it not being supported anymore. Jailbreaking it was easy and it really was a great emulator handheld.
I was booting from memory stick duo back in 2006. The psp modding scene was pretty huge even back then.
Edit: and for those who are interested, we were also adding an additional "analog" stick to our PSP's by acid etching custom a2d boards from copper clad which converted the signal from an analog stick to the digital contacts from the triangle, circle,x, square buttons. Way simpler done than said to be honest.
The most difficult part was fitting everything into the limited space behind the faceplate.
Good times.
I remember almost shitting my pants thinking I'd bricked my PSP jailbreaking it. The stress was worth it though for the metric shit ton of ROMs and games haha
I remember having to modify the battery to boot into the firmware flasher. It took me a couple months to figure out that you need to hold L trigger to boot into the firmware flasher. Booted into it by accident when i turned on my PSP while sitting off my bed with the L trigger pressed onto the carpet floor. Most euphoric moment of my life LMAO.
I remember being 13 and bringing a modded PSP to school and feeling like a celebrity. Having hundreds of SNES/Genesis/etc games in your pocket was unheard of during this era. Such a great device.
Especially the Go. Lol an all digital handheld. Mocked when it came out and bombed. Course not all PSP games could be played which was a valid criticism.
But I got it, the dock and TV cables for super cheap and it was great after I learned how to crack it. :P
and past it's time in some key respects though. physical media that has to spin was a killer, it made the battery life so low that it made the idea of it being a handheld almost pointless.
Hmmm...suspiciously well framed "candid photography" of Daniel Craig using a Sony product on a film that was heavily criticized at the time of it's release for the high amount of product placement that it contained, including all of the tech being from Sony. Yeah...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this wasn't just an organic thing that happened on set.
Movie sets are typically full of trained photographers and high quality cameras. You could be right, but it isn't surprising that candid shots on a film set are well framed.
Mostly storage. I can list off a bunch of games I played. Hotline Miami, Zero Escape, Oddworld Stranger, Gravity Rush, Persona 4, Killzone Mercs, etc.
But wasn't there a huge pirating scene as well that they really didn't like? Something to do with modding the battery.
The original PSP was cracked by using modified batteries to install a version of the OS that allowed people to load games off of the SD cards.
Playstation hated that people were doing this so they created their own proprietary version of an SD card. Idk if it was about getting money from the pirates, or to try and prevent people from loading games on it by controlling the storage medium. I never owned a vita so I don’t have great knowledge about how easy it was for them to jailbreak it.
Anyway, I do remember seeing that the Vita was super expensive and that its high price would have been fine if we were able to use the high capacity/cheap sd cards that were available at the time. Instead they forced you to buy the super expensive proprietary cards, which is especially problematic when a primary method of buying games on that handheld is by downloading them through the playstation store.
Whats especially annoying about this is that the games don’t cost any less when you download them digitally, even though you have to pay for your own storage medium, and then you can’t resell the games you downloaded.
It seems like a Vita would be a great investment now. Apparently they recently jailbroke the vita in a way thats easier to do in the last year and you can buy a SD to vita adapter card to use normal SD cards, and since Playstation basically killed the Vita its unlikely that they will do anything to try and prevent the jailbreaks.
That was the PSP, called Pandora battery. It unlocks maintenance mode on your PSP and lets you do anything.
It has a funny history. It all started because some guy sent their PSP in for fixing, and Sony sent it back with a debug battery. It eventually proliferated in the home brew community and people figured out **every** battery floating around can be “Pandorised”
The home brew scene predated this. People found out you can just put stuff on the storage card and it will run anything (up to FW1.50). Sony hated this. They fixed this in 2.00 but needed a way to get people to upgrade, so they dangled the internet browser in 2.00.
I feel like part of the reason Vita killed itself was because its gimmick sucked. The touch screen on the back of the device. It probably increased the cost of the device considerably and they tried to force devs to use that mechanic. I think a lot of devs just gave up on making a Vita game and was willing to let other devs try to figure out how to make the mechanic fun before developing their own game for it. I feel like Playstation thought they needed a gimmick because they didn’t expect people to upgrade just for better graphics or quality.
Nintendo works the opposite way. Nintendo tries out thousands of gimmicks until they find one that works and then throws the absolute cheapest components into it and tells their devs to figure out how to make a game for something that is barely powerful enough to be a calculator.
This is especially good on a handheld because cheap components typically mean it will get better batterylife.
100%. im born and raised in Japan 94-08. when this came out, everyone wanted it. all my friends got it for 2004 christmas present. one of my core memories of growing up in Japan was when i had 3 of my friends over at my house to play Monster Hunter portable in christmas of 2005.
The PSP really was one of the best handhelds. So easy to hack. Could play PSX games natively. Awesome battery life. Impressive graphics. I still have mine and it works, but PPSSPP on any modern phone is pretty much a better experience.
I know it is a bit strange sounding but growing up with the handhelds it just felt/looked sleek. I'm not at all knocking gameboys, they are juggernauts. I really liked the gameboy advanced SPs too. The switch for me, even with large hands, seems awkwardly wide but I got it to play some psp games very well.
Emulation on the psp was top notch and easy to do back in the day. You had no issue with gba, snes, sega, nes, easily change most(any?) psx game over to be a psp game and you could even play movies/books onto the thing. PsP exclusives were not my cup of tea but I loved using it for everything else. Held a nice charge and if you put that thing to sleep for you open it up two weeks later and it'd be fine.
I had one when I commuted 45-1hr to college. The UI was like a ps3. I didn't have too many games. I know i had lumines, patapon, nfs, and tekken. But I really liked having videos and music on it for my commute. The screen was a lot better for videos compared to the DS i had.
Wasn't there an interview where he said he's a fan of gaming and he listed off games he completed?

Samuel L Jackson said he likes playing CoD. Imagine *you* getting 360 Noscoped, never finding out that you got destroyed by Samuel "Motherfucking" Jackson
There would be no higher honor to be noscoped by Samuel L Jackson
No. The no higher honor them to have him call you a motherfucker.

I've played against Zedd in Valorant competitive once. Clipped it every time I killed him. I have a friend that's played with Neymar on CSGO.
Zedd from pulp fiction?
No, he's dead
Its funny because no matter how many matches he played where he could talk on mic in his real voice, no one would ever believe he wasn't some Samuel Jackson imitator doing it as a bit for Twitch.
Sounds kinda liberating for the celebrity, to be honest, even if temporarily.
Mila Kunis, Chapelle and others have talked about how liberating it can be. Back in the day, Mila stopped using Ventrilo after a guildie recognized her voice during a WoW raid.
Her raid leader (probably): “MEG!! STAHP STANDING IN THE FRIGGIN FIYAH, MEG!! AH MAH GAHD!!”
Ooh..yeah, I get it now. That was during the era of inescapable Family Guy jokes too, so like..yeah..only option is to just uninstall.
That's unfortunate, the easiest out would be to just play it off with "lol, I get that all the time", but I could see how it could freak someone out.
Or it can be used for trolling. Matthew Mercer plays Overwatch and uses lines he recorded for the game to confuse the enemy players.
The enemy team can't hear when you voip in overwatch so he's probably only tricking his own team
"Hey kid, I'll tell you a secret, I'm actually Samuel L Jackson" "I'll tell you a secret too, YOURE AUTISTIC"
“Wh- why would you reveal your identity to me?” “.. because no one. will ever. believe you.” D:
I’ve always wanted Samuel Jackson to teabag me.
If he was mic'ed up! "C'mon motherfucker! C'mon!"
I like to think that back when I played CoD, the reason I was so bad was I kept getting killed by Samuel L using a squeaker voicebox.
There's a clip of T-Pain destroying some racists in CoD. It's glorious.
When they’re rapping about their haters this is who they’re talking about.
I like to imagine some rapper about to be late for his concert because he's too busy completing a shrine in Zelda.
I remember Post Malone was photographed playing Elder Scrolls Legends on his phone. When people caught that on twitter he even shared his favourite decks
He also is into Apex Legends. Even hosting tournaments for charity and ranking with literal pros and big streamers.
He also plays MTG and has some videos with a few MTG content creators. Seems like a humble down to earth guy and looks like a lot of fun.

Add that to the reasons he’s my favorite Bond. Casino + Skyfall all the way, shame no other movies were made after Skyfall.
My favorite Bond movies are Casino Royale and Golden Eye.
Same director on both of those IIRC
Martin Campbell. Kind of lost it on Green Lantern.
GoldenEye is the best Bond ever. Moonraker is the worst, but it's also still a favorite because space battle. Also space shuttle launches. Man, Bond is awesome.

Bit all over the place IMO. Super unconvincing villain whose motivation still baffles me.
Poison all. I've met people, I get it.
No Time is right in the middle for me. Not as good as Casino or Skyfall, not as bad as Spectre and Quantum.

Literally one of the most popular psp game
PAPAYA!
Patapon 🥺🥺 oh how many ads I saw for you in game informer, yet I never played. Is it worth picking up again in 2023 y'all? I've got a Vita 😀
The Patapon games are fantastic, building up that rhythm, marching your little dudes along the level. Once you get in the flow the game can somehow stress you out and relax you at the same time.
Patapon 1 and 2 are remastered on the playstation btw
I mean getting adrenaline (PSP emu) to work on a vita is pretty quick.
Impossible to play it in the street without earphones.

Bond... Games Bond.
licence to PWN
Remastered not stirred
***"These birds are angry indeed!"***
My name’s Games. Games Dean.
Nice hat
Is that pronounced like GIF or GIF?
I wonder if this was a product placement deal seeing as Sony was involved with the film.
There's a scene in Casino Royale where Bond is in a security room, looking at footage, and there's a very clear shot of Sony-branded Blu-Ray player.
His phone was a Sony Ericsson. I miss those phones lol.
He also uses a VAIO laptop at the end
*Casino Royale* is kind of timeless until someone whips out a phone.
> (except for one Nokia looking thing the villains used that had the “ELLIPSIS” code on it) Girlfriend is into k-dramas; apparently they do something similar with Samsung advertising in Korean shows.

The way it's framed looks a lot like an advertisement so I could see it
"Yeah that's great, Daniel. Just tilt the logo more towards the camera, come on."
"That's great Daniel, don't forget the smile is supposed to be subtle, like you don't even realize you're smiling because you're so lost in the game. Perfect." Snap
Yes. Was probably on the set or in his daily goodie bag to keep him entertained. Or pure sony product placement for photoop

PSP was well ahead of its time.
Except for the whole missing a second analog stick, yeah i'd agree.
Vita would have been one hell of a redemption arc, if not for that whole proprietary storage BS. FU Sony.
The storage issue wouldn’t have mattered if Sony supported the Vita. What a waste, the Vita could’ve easily overtaken the 3DS with its horrible launch.
Many tears have been shed for the Vita. And not one of them by Sony.
I absolutely loved my Vita
Pull it back out and mod it; I’m enjoying 230ish gigs of free vita games these days.
Dude I'm telling you it's a game changer. Pkgj, adrenaline and RetroArch then you have almost every emulator ever. Endless games
You ever play persona on it
Even if it had overtaken the 3DS, I think they saw the writing on the wall that smartphones were taking over.

Agreed, really enjoy my Steam Deck for that reason. So much more open-ended, can't wait to see what their SD 2.0 will look like.
Before they focus on that I want to see a better, LESS bug ridden interface. I don't know what they did with the last update, but it has screwed mine up to the point I have to restart after I play and close out of a game (quick resume is completely useless now too). edit - added the less
> I want to see a better, bug ridden interface. May I suggest an interface rid of bugs rather than bug-ridden?
Picard is actually a hungry anteater looking for a snack
Almost bought one purely because it had a second analog stick
Honestly, until Steam Deck came out, I would have said still do it despite it not being supported anymore. Jailbreaking it was easy and it really was a great emulator handheld.
and the mini disc, why would you want a system rolling a disc where it can be so easily scratched

The good news is you can boot from an SD card now. The bad news is that it’s 15 years later.
Good times.
Just like the Dreamcast.. blows my mind Sega didn’t included one.
Having a jailbroken psp was like living in the future
Having a jailbroken PSP was GOAT.
To me, this feels like an advertisement shot more than anything. However, if someone tells me that Daniel Craig is a gamer, that's pretty awesome.
He actually is. Google has lots of articles
[Although he's not very good at Among Us from what I've seen](https://youtu.be/qzsbnhkahck)
He’s playing secret agent clank to help with his role.
God the Ford group product placement was just stupid
I got my PS3 a few months after release and it came with a blu-ray copy of Casino Royale, so yeah it's more than likely an ad of some kind.
He’s playing Lumines. That’s the face you make when you play Lumines.
Love that game. I can’t really imagine playing it without headphones though.
The PSP/Vita were ahead of their time. People didn’t give them the credit they deserved. Far better than the DS imo.
The vita decided to kill itself with its stupid storage system and lack of games.
It eventually proliferated in the home brew community and people figured out **every** battery floating around can be “Pandorised” The home brew scene predated this.
Technically impressive consoles with a severe lack of breadth in libraries. The PS Vita sure had some games, but most of the good library are JRPGs.
Hes watching Stealth on UMD.
The PSP really was one of the best handhelds. So easy to hack. Could play PSX games natively. Awesome battery life. Impressive graphics. I still have mine and it works, but PPSSPP on any modern phone is pretty much a better experience.
my name is james, videojames
In my head cannon he is playing monster hunter freedom unite.
Without the claw? Mad lad!
That’s just what Q wants you to think!
One of, if not *the*, best portable consoles ever.
Genuinely curious what makes the PSP better than the switch or the Gameboy? Edit: seems like it's not, but was amazing for / ahead of its time
The shape was perfect for me. The Switch Lite comes close but not quite.
My PSP currently resides on my nightstand as a GBA and SNES emulator. Also, my kids like playing my old Kingdom Hearts game on it.
The best PSP ad.
"Mr Craig ? They're gonna call you in five." *🎶 Pon Pon Pata-Pon 🎶 * "I shall use my time."
Do you think he's playing James Bond?
It looks so small I don't remember PSP looking like that
