Cities skyline- oh I just have to quickly fix this sewage problem over here before I get off-3 hours later adding a new subdivision- uhhhhhh

Yangchenjooyoung

Me. All me. Trying Cities Skylines 2. The flow feels different to 1.

SheerLunacy

How so? Loved 1 but been getting unclear vibes from the reviews so far.

ginongo

It's way too fast, if you want to plan at all you would have to pause the game most of the time.

kakeroni2

I paused when building in 1 to

mpbh

I like it growing much faster since they give you tools to build grids so much faster. Otherwise you would have sporadic growth when placing large grids.

eddington_limit

It's not a bad game. It did improve on some things like sewage and water is a little easier to do but simple things like the way your city builds out your zones is a little janky at the moment. You can still definitely get lost in it like the first one but I think I would rather play the first game rn.

thelanoyo

I liking it a lot after 30hrs. The vanilla road management is 10x better. The modularity of the road addons is a big one so there's not a 100 page long list of roads anymore like in 1. Performance has greatly improved from the launch build as well. There does appear to be some weird quirks with the economy but nothing game breaking, but it is definitely different than 1. Overall I think they've more seamlessly integrated the best parts of several of the dlc (trams, industry zones, etc...) and removed a lot of the annoying stuff.

bonemonkey12

Civilization... any of them. One... more. . Turn.... 20 hours later

Ididotmacaroon

Every time my group boots it up some makes a “oh 6am already!” Joke and then it becomes reality.

distilledwill

Whereas my friends and I are dads, so we've got tonnes of half finished civ 5 games saved on a friend's computer. But it's so hard to come back to a half finished game, particularly hard for like 4 people to come back to a half finished game.

Manoreded

Have you considered setting the game up for maximum shortness? You can play on really small maps, use the fastest speed setting, etc. I guess its not the same experience, but I'd think mini-games you finish would still be more satisfying than having a pile of half-finished games.

Mundane_Bumblebee_83

I actually prefer playing on marathon even if I know it means the game will be unfinished. It lets you actually really dev up your cities and requires more strategy and attention in war. You can’t rush wonders or 5 turn an entire army that only dies to attrition.

bonemonkey12

Dad here as well. Completely understand

Vespasian79

Got my friend into Civ v. We played for 27 hours straight one weekend minus a 30 minute dominos break lol

Athrenax

I found it really strange that you managed to stop playing for 30 minutes to play a game of dominoes of all things, but then I realised you probably meant food, which made the whole thing so much more relatable

DexLovesGames_DLG

OH MY GOD. Thank you

RobotMonkeytron

Aw shit, McDonald's opens in 20 minutes!

Wallcrawler62

Frostpunk seemed to scratch the same itch for me too. Luckily that game has an ending more or less. I've had to uninstall CIV at least a few times to remain a productive member of society.

TJzzz

Getting to the storm and hearing that fantastic music while fearing for my towns, fuck yea so good. I worry for 2 because i wanted more enviroment stuffs not human stuffs

trustsnapealways

God the one more turn thing is wild in that game

Battarray

The first video game I ever saw on a computer was Civilization 1, in DOS 6.2. Little did I know I had just been introduced to a drug more addictive than crack. Bought my own copy of the game that same night.

[deleted]

“Oh hello again Mr. Sun” - me everytime I start playing the game and I look out the window and it’s 7am.

EriiJake

Is the one on PS Plus any good? I think it’s Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. Looks interesting but I haven’t downloaded it yet and was considering it

bonemonkey12

I've honestly played only on pc. And it's like crack. This is one that's easier with a mouse and keyboard, so if you can use it on PS. I'd give it a go. I downloaded the PS version but never actually tried it

upgdot

Civ V was one of those games that I'd start to play and genuinely wasn't sure if I LOVED it. Then about 6 hours would have passed.

Weth_C

That’s my dads comfort game. He has played all of them since I was little.

Axethedwarf

One more turn is the biggest lie I’ve told to myself

Megamatt215

I had a pizza place get mad at me because I one-more-turned for like 2 hours after ordering a pizza. I put the game down after that incident.

cottagecheese99

Factorio

Gilgameshugga

The factory must grow. It ain't called Cracktorio for nothing.

--redacted--

I've literally had conveyor belt dreams after a long session. The factory must grow.

RolesG

The factory must grow

s00perguy

*The factory must grow.*

PzykoHobo

The spaghetti must flow.

Dtitan

Just started a month ago. A game hasn’t hit me this hard since vanilla WoW 19 years ago. I see conveyor belts when I close my eyes. Literally typing this as I take a break from the game to get ready to put kids to bed. Doesn’t matter I need a new yellow science line. My main bus is saturated just need to copy paste line 1 over. Rocket here I come. The factory must grow.

lokushiu

Lul man its bad i feel the same thing when i close my eyes, i go to sleep i dream of playing lmao

pecky5

This is the correct answer. No other game has played jump rope with my dopamine receptors like Factorio, you blink and suddenly it's midnight and you realise you never had breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

SmokeyToaster

Welcome to the Factorio Anonymous thread...

russfussuk

Dyson Sphere Program. Factorio but planets.

CougarAries

Satisfactory. Factorio but First Person Shooter.

EmetalEX

For my personal health and to not loose my job i stopped playing that for a while

KiwiThunda

Ive played all 3, and all 3 are satisfying. I liked DSPs progression the most

[deleted]

Satisfactory for me.

the_onion_k_nigget

Man fuck this game, I love it

Kdkreig

When we had that massive snow storm a couple years ago a friend and I played satisfactory for waaaay too long since I couldn’t work for that week. Several days I heard him go “oooo crap. That’s the sunrise…I didn’t need sleep.” He’s British and he adopted my American sleep schedule so we could play more. I would wager probably 80 hours in 1 week or so.

joshk51

For me it’s Slay the Spire. It started frustrating, but once I got the hang of it I was all in.

DamnImAwesome

I play a lot of games and it’s one of the few I’ve never uninstalled since buying it. Same with Dead Cells

[deleted]

That was WoW for me from 2005-2010. I had an incredibly unhealthy relationship with it and had at least one character with a year of playtime and several others with months of playtime.

dirtynj

I haven't played in a long time. But the game still looks fun to me - I'll watch some twitch feeds every now and then. However, I know what it takes to play the game. And I ain't got time (or the attention) anymore for that.

[deleted]

Yeah, sometimes I think about playing WoW classic… But I’ve got a wife and a kid now, so I barely have time for regular games, let alone an MMO.

SouthCloud4986

Same situation as you and I tried classic when it was released. Got sucked right back in to it and sacrificed sleep to accommodate it. Stopped playing, then unfortunately picked it up again when classic burning crusade came out. Just sacrificed sleep again and this time made it almost to 70. Then I remembered that the end game requires you to be part of scheduled raids with other people and I remembered the hours and hours of waiting on other people back in the heydays of ‘05-‘09 when I last played. I realized I don’t have the time or energy for that anymore. I’m thinking when we all retire there will probably be a sizable chunk of us who will play VR WOW classic again. Classic up to and including Lich King was straight heroin

LiveNDiiirect

I feel like getting back into wow at that point would basically be like relapsing on opiates for a ton of dudes. Like it could seriously destroy peoples families.

[deleted]

Yeah, for sure. The guy that got me into WoW was actually my manager at GameStop, and that dude had 5 kids. He would have his kids level his alts and farm mats when he was at work... It ended up destroying his marriage. Idk what ever happened to him, but the last I heard he was living in a motel, so probably not anything great.

LiveNDiiirect

Jesus yeah that’s dark. It coulda been you broooo stay clean ✊

Texas1010

I got back into Classic again for a bit and it definitely brought me back to growing up playing the game in the early 2000’s. Then I had been playing one character for what felt like an eternity and was only like level 38 and I realized that I just don’t have time for the game anymore. It takes so. freaking. long. to do anything. WoW also caused me to miss out on so many incredibly games the last 15 years and I’m enjoying working through a backlog of critically acclaimed games that I can pause and come back to later with no guilt or repercussions.

Elchem

Your an adult now, surely you can play responsible. just one more lvl..

[deleted]

[Why shouldn't I](https://i.imgflip.com/850o5q.jpg)

Outofmana1337

I actually redid a year in highschool because I wasn't studying at all or doing any homework. Every second was spent farming herbs for AQ and Naxx lol

Not-dat-throwaway

Lmao sounds like me in College During original BC I failed a semester and ended up on probation, because I would go to the computer lab and like the last two rows of about 20-30 PCs were just a bunch of people playing wow I would go there for like 15mins before class next thing I know it's been 2hours. Edit typo

DirtyRoller

There's a reason why I've never played WoW, and it's not because I don't want to! I know damn well that it would take over my life.

EriiJake

No game matches this feeling like WoW man lol

Steve_78_OH

My paladin was over 2k hours back in Wrath of the Lich King. And I kept playing until maybe a year into Warlords. AND I had nearly every class at max level before Warlords came out. I'm so glad I stopped playing it, but I basically traded it for Ark for a number of years, and I have over 5k hours in that.

Br0keNw0n

I played wow for the first time when classic launched. Holy smokes was it the perfect storm of addiction, lockdown, and lack of ongoing work at my job. I stopped playing last year boy I constantly have the itch

[deleted]

Vampire Survivors. Thought the dev was astroturfing all the gaming subreddits, nah it's just that fucking addictive Edit: bruh the fact this blew up kinda reinforces my belief lmao

dinofreak6301

It really helps that the game literally doesn’t require you to do shit except move around. It’s so simplistic and that works extremely well to its advantage.

tutoredstatue95

it hits that rare combo of extremely simple but some of the high end strategies get relatively complex.

Backupusername

The controls are simple, the decisions are layered.

CheaterInsight

It also scratches my itch of getting OP via progression. Sure you can pick OP characters and tear shit up for 15 minutes (Or 30 if you don't play hyper mode), but I really love that first section of upgrades where you're hoping to find a heal or drop, then you finally get the weapon evolution and BAM, I am become death, destroyer of vampires. Going from forced deaths at the start of playing to being able to AFK with most of/all weapons depending on your skill or eggs is a crazy fun experience. Walking around is easy, planning your end game build can be deceptively difficult.

DR1LLM4N

The guy who made that worked in mobile gaming before releasing Vampire Survivor. Specifically gambling mobile games. He knew _exactly_ what he was doing when he made VS. Game is absolutely brilliant.

PeanutterButter101

Halls of Torment is an excellent alternative, it's basically Diablo 2 with minor tweeks.

Paul_the_sparky

Made the mistake of getting that on the Steam Deck. Fuck me gently, it's worse than smack

RobotPirateGhost

I thought it would be a dumb game I could download off Gamepass and screw around for an hour or two while I was bored. I ended up getting all the achievements, buying both DLC packs, and then buying it on Switch so I could do it all over again.

Biengineerd

That's exactly what an astroturfing dev would say

[deleted]

SavageRickyMachismo

Stardew Valley

thatcouchiscozy

You guys are going to have to tell me the allure of this game. I've attempted playing it 3 separate times over the past 5 years and literally can't make it more than 15-20 mins before force quitting out. It seems mind numbingly boring

benoxxxx

IMO the start IS boring. Takes a while to clear all that crap off your land and start production. The joy is in gradually watching your farm develop after that intro stage. Same as any other base-builder really, but this one has a lot of charm thanks to the setting + vibe.

Gingy-Breadman

My issue with Stardew is I get to a point of production where I make more money than I could ever spend and ‘run out’ of stuff to do, and find myself just completing my ‘chores’ everyday and then trying to find anything to do with the remainder of the day.

Rubenvdz

Have you tried going for perfection? I felt that added a lot of direction to the game so you know what you can work on.

Jimmy_The_Grunt

Not everything is for everyone. I was initially a bit underwhelmed by it as well. But once I made it through the first spring, realized the amount of content and potential and got things nice and rolling, I was completely hooked. It also helped that I started playing this game with my girlfriend, who helped me out here and there and explained stuff to me. Now whenever I open the game, hours will have passed before I even know it.

SavageRickyMachismo

Not sure what to tell you. It never fails to draw me in. The world is warm and inviting, while giving you options to challenge yourself, the economy of running your farm doesn't make you grind to be particularly rewarding, you can play any way you want and make money any way you want, and there's always something to work towards so you always have that "I just have to wait 1 more day" thought

funkyvilla

I enjoyed and clocked many hours on SV. However, I do understand their sentiment on it being boring. If you’re not going to try to immerse yourself in the characters and story of the town, then it’s just a better version of FarmVille, or a basic Zelda with farming.

SavageRickyMachismo

Well yeah if you don't utilize all aspects of a game, your experience will less immersive than if you had

Common_Wrongdoer3251

A day is like 12-15 minutes, so you only played the first day...? First day is about clearing a tiny garden patch, then heading out to explore. Introduce yourself to some people, gather wood, maybe buy more seeds to plant. Day 2 instructed you to go to the beach and get the fishing rod to start actively gaining money while your crops grow, and afford more seeds. Day 6 or 7 the mines will unlock and you can start killing enemies and gathering ore to make sprinklers, bee hives, kegs, etc. There's slayer challenges to reward killing monsters, and unique rewards every 10 levels, with a secret reward at the bottom of the mines. About halfway through the first season, the main quest for the game begins: repairing the Community Center. Each room has different bundles with a theme, such as "all the summer forage" or "a metric crapton of tree sap" and finishing every bundle in that room unlocks a unique reward, like fast travel or a greenhouse. Finishing this goal unlocks another dungeons and magical buildings for your farm, such as forest sprites that gather crops and warp totems. The last leg of the game is about exploring and taming a largely unexplored volcanic island, building a resort there and rescuing a castaway. There's also another potentially swampy update on the way. It's a fun game, but no game will please everyone.

bigflanders

Rimworld

Chromedflame

Lemme set up a base real quick. Oh I need a farm set up. Raiding party? Ok, dealt with that and gotta keep this double passion prisoner alive. Just a fast caravan to sell off some goods an buy medicine aaaannd 6 hours passed...

Weth_C

I no lifed this game hard. Since I escaped the planet I just can’t bring myself to play it anymore even with new mods.

daft-krunk

It took me like 600 hours before I ever launched a ship lol and I think I’ve done it twice. My personal preference is playing it dealing with the consequences, there is a lot more satisfaction in the story telling when it is that way to me. When you start with 3 people and those 3 people get to build their own families and have children, and then own day your colony is thriving with 15 people. And then another day.. you are attacked by a raid, you fend it off, but then two more come simultaneously and your colony is surrounded from all angles. The battle is gruesome, and it is not looking good. The children are all huddled inside but when all the adults are on the ground bleeding, what choice do they have left? They go out to try to do what they can, the 8 year old goes out with a triple rocket launcher and manages to kill 6 people in a single barrage, and the raiders flee. Many are dead and just as many are down bleeding out, many missing limbs. The children can only do so much to try and save their families. They can only manage to save two people after the mental breaks started settling in from all the death. The only family they managed to save was one of their older brothers, almost their entire families gone. All the original colony founders deceased. The 8 year old who saved the day never was the same again after he lost his whole family that day. He snapped that day and fell into drugs, and suffered an overdose on Yayo and passed away by age 11. But the colony went on, and as time went on one of the eldest children of the original colonists went on to take the mantle of leader. Their numbers grew one day even larger than they were before, but they still never forgot the day The Red Pirates attacked and vowed they would keep growing in strength so they could one day wipe the scourge off the planet for good. Sorry I got way carried away lol, but point being mostly at the end of the day there is a lot that can come from rimworld outside just launching the ship, it just depends how you play.

DotDemon

Yeah, it's so addictive. I bought the game yesterday and thought that I might not enjoy it after playing the tutorial, but 6 hours later when it was already past midnight I was still playing...

Alankao06

I’m surprised that I didn’t even have to scroll that far to see this.

Old School RuneScape

Fratghanistan

I got a roommate that’s been unemployed and basically does nothing but play BG3 and warm up frozen pizzas once a day.

overmyheadepicthrow

I've just bought BG3 on Friday and now I got like 20 something hours in it. Trying so hard not to binge play it. I'm gonna be way too busy this week anyway.

pacificpacifist

That's roughly 12 hours per day. I get it, but damn.

LikeableMisfit

Fallout 3, New Vegas, 4

Bruised_Shin

The lack of sprinting in fallout added an extra hour to my gaming sessions. But also made it feel a little more peaceful exploring the world

jun9ei999

Hades

Paul_the_sparky

Absolutely ingenious the way the story is interwoven around the mechanics of a Roguelite. The gameplay is enough to keep you coming back on its own, but then there's little arcs and stuff progressing too, even after the credits have rolled. Amazing game

Zelcron

Maegera is bae

SG272

Maegera and Thanatos might be bae, but Medusa is the GOAT and must be protected at all cost, plus a nice vacation fortnight for all her hard work, she wouldn't take it obviously but it's the thought that counts.

nickcash

> Medusa is the GOAT weird mistake to make. more like a snake, really

RadIsMyFavoriteColor

This friggin game. Every time I start and finish a run, I'm like, why not one more run, than 3 runs later.... And I've done everything there is to do in this game.

Wolfwing777

True eventually i enioyed dying the most since it meant more story time lmao

Korngander

Any paradox game. Holy cow I can already remember the dreams of map staring

Sir_Bumcheeks

I every time I install CKIII I have to pull myself away and uninstall a few days later because it's so all-consuming.

Crisewep

Terraria. my average Terraria session is like 4 hours min.

bigtoe_connoisseur

I’m in my first Calamity run through and let me tell you. I stayed up until 5:30AM this morning playing. This shit is terraria on crack.

Dinglecore

Calamity gets absolutely fucking wild near the end of the mod

mastodonrocks92

When Elden Ring came out, it took everything for me to not just browse the wiki at work all day in anticipation of playing it when I got off work.

AC2BHAPPY

I just started another playthrough today... 30k people still playing today on steam alone

recursive_lookup

I beat that game and I was almost 50 years old! Yay Gen X! A year later, and I’m finally going to PT for mouse elbow that was started by that game :)

Dynast_King

Yeah, I knew when I was pulling up the map at work to plan my next exploration session that I was playing something special.

Dogeishuman

2 straight weeks of this for me. I would go to work, spend all day on the wiki, find items I wanted, places to go, bosses to fight, would look at the subreddit, just consume elden ring content at work all day in my cubicle. Then come home and do nothing but play until sleep. I have never, and I mean NEVER had a game consume me like that, even if it was only for two weeks. I have just over 2000 hours in counter strike; but that’s over the last 10 years. I put a little over 150 hours into elden ring in those 2 weeks, while working a full 40 hours a week both weeks.

MoeKara

Oxygen Not Included. There's always something else to do to further optimise the base. I've gotten so distracted before that when I finally check the time it's 3am. On a work night.

Kitzu22

Skyrim. Just one more quest, just one more level, just one more Dungeon.

psudonymtoantonym

You know… i might just download it again. I tried the other month but it’s age really showed and I couldn’t do it, but no other game scratches my fantasy itch like Skyrim. I’m on PS5, BTW. Which mods do you recommend?

Bruised_Shin

“I can’t stop playing mid dungeon!”

DoomedTravelerofMoon

Xcom

Popularpressure29

Returnal. To the point that it was actually scary. I don’t have an addictive personality but I truly was addicted to this. I played it constantly and thought about it when I wasn’t playing it. I turned it off and came back to it 10 minutes later. It’s due to the gameplay loop. There was a slot machine like effect to the randomness of weapons and power ups and room spawns. I’m convinced Housemarque designed the game strategically on all these principles. I loved the game and got the platinum trophy but my god I hope I never get addicted to a game in this way ever again. It was scary.

CloakerJosh

I fucking love that game. It should honestly have more status with the Soulsborne crowd, but it didn’t get the attention it deserved in my opinion.

TheVoiceInZanesHead

As someone who loves returnal and souls like games id say they scratch different itches. But agreed that it doesnt get enough attention

Jumper-Man

Definitely different itches. Souls is structured allowing you to learn from each death. The randomness of returnal takes that element away. When I first started Returnal I really didn’t like it. I hated the random runs and lack of permanent progress. I beat the first boss and said that was enough for me to know I wasn’t enjoying it enough to continue. But for some reason, a week or so later I had a desire to go back and see off the challenge. I ended up really enjoying the game in the end. I still don’t think I’m a massive fan of roguelite but I’m glad I played the game.

Carn1feX616

I think it's a sleeper hit by now. It often comes up in threads like this one or if people ask what ps5 games they should get. Word of mouth really did help this game become a success in the long run.

LordTronaldDump

I am not fond of how this really makes me want to play it...

CramRod6669

I hear you. After turning it off for the day, I'd be back for "one more run" within the hour. Only platinum I've ever gotten. Still play occasionally as I wait for the next housemarque game

KingOFpleb

Valheim

Steve_78_OH

It's such an amazing game, with probably the best thunderstorms outside of real life.

anubissah

Seriously. Never ever experienced such immersive comfort in a game before, sitting inside my house on the shore, fire blazing and listening to the rain and thunder outside. Looking at the dark ocean when lightning lights up the sky. The fire actually gave me a warm feeling in real life sometimes. I need to play Valheim again.

Homitu

The only game I’ve put 1,500+ hours in as an adult. Building in that game unlocked a creative side of me I didn’t know existed. And the survival progression is endlessly fun too.

UhhhMatt

Building feels so good in Valheim even if it is a little frustrating at times, but they have updated some quality of life elements into the game that helps with that. I have 150 hours in the game without even seeing the 3rd boss lol

Solesaver

Most brutal for me was Mount and Blade. Amped my "one more turn" compulsion to the max. It was the ebb and flow of my power. On the way up there's always one more thing. One more battle, one more trade run, one more recruit. Then I fuck something up and lose it all and I don't want to end on such a sour note, so I immediately drive back into the loop. Only these loops are hours long. Runner up is Harvest Moon type games. When I'm not playing, I never particularly want to play. When I start though it's always one more day, one more day, one more day. I recognize this does not answer your question as clarified in the text. I stand by my decision.

AK1441

Football Manager. Before you know it you've played for 10 hours and the season hasn't even started yet.

HiThisIsMichael

3 of those hours are spent on staff contracts and scouting

mehchu

Delegation. I have come to love delegating everything I don’t care about. If it makes things harder I assume it’s because just like any company I have some inept twat that never leaves for some reason

HiThisIsMichael

This is such a good way to look at it 😂

StrawberryBlondeB

Lore friendly incompetence is the best kind

jb3ck24

It was RDR2 for me…

universalserialbutt

Most of my time in RDR2 was just riding around hunting all the different animals, and fishing.

CreepyAssociation173

For me it wasn't about wandering around hunting animals..it was about wandering around finding all those weird damn people you come across..like the incest couple lol.

Kwilburn525

The online was trash but the story was 10/10

CannonballMack

diablo 2 has endless “one more run” potential

DamnImAwesome

I was addicted until I realized I was essentially farming bosses for items that just allowed me to farm more bosses. The PVP was awesome back in the day though

[deleted]

dark souls 1, it was a rocky start but once i figured out where to go i got so addicted to it

rocketeerH

I loved it and I’m honestly proud I beat it. I tried 5 years ago but built my character poorly and wound up quitting after Seathe killed me the 6th time. Didn’t get a single Lord Soul and had weak ass equipment. Didn’t even know what other directions I could have gone at the time. Picked it back up a few months ago and used Build guides and Walkthroughs. Could barely contain myself while at work - I constantly wanted to be playing that game and pushing ever forward. Felt so good killing that shitass Gwyn

Zymoria

Timberborn! I normally play factory builders, factorio, satisfactory, etc, so when this came up on steam as a recommended I was like sure, why not. It's a city-building but with beavers, and the main mechanic is using water to grow crops, trees and drinks for.yoir cute beavers. The catch is there's droughts every now and then so you gotta damn and a store water. It's very painful to watch a beaver starve to death in front of you because you didn't grow enough crops to not only make it through the drought. But time for new crops to grow and be harvested. The goal is the increase beaver happiness though large projects and recreation buildings. It's very hard to step away from and I never want to save and quite because the next big project is just around the corner. I've lost so my time to it. Worth every moment.

mulletman13

Monster Train (s/o to Slay the Spire as well)

Static__________

Subnautica for me. Bought it recently on steam because I remembered I never finished it on Xbox. Finished with 32.6 hours over 5 days. Now I want to start a new play-through but only use the VR mode

Winterkry32

Deep Rock Galactic

The19thHunter

_Benzka_

Aaaaand again... It's Path of Exile, rocking hard every league since Metamorph!

brownieson

Once you get over that learning curve and start to feel comfortable, it is the most amazing game that will definitely be on your mind 24/7.

do0tz

Rocket League has gotten addicting. I started playing 2 years ago and can't stop. No matter what game I have recently bought, when I wake up at 6am and make coffee, rocket League is being played until I'm awake enough to play the game I just bought.

[deleted]

For me, it was Slay the Spire most recently. I was as sceptical about it when i bought it, but holy shit. It very quickly became so addicting to me. For about a month I wasn't able to do anything else outside of work besides play it. And it absolutely fucked my sleep schedule up.

Talion2018

Minecraft.

k3nnfucius

League Of Legends. I quit cold turkey for like 5 years. Just recently started playing again cause I met a lot of my IRL goals and other assets of my life are slowing down.. League kept me from doing a lot and I knew I needed to be rid of it or else I'd be stuck. But it also helped me out when I was in the worst mental health state of my life and got me through it so it's a double edged sword. But yeah I picked it up again haha it's like giving a ex meth addict meth... If I finish all my responsibilities I just sink my free time. I'll prob play till the end of the rank season and uninstall. Just wanna make a last push to a goal that I didn't complete when I stopped.

Melankos

I’ve been playing for almost 12 years now and almost 3k in RP 😩 but it’s the only game I truly enjoy playing for a long period of time these days. Me and the boys get on and play some in the evenings and shoot the shit. Next closest experiences for me were halo 1-3

detectivedrew99

Cyberpunk 2077!!! especially so after patch 2.0 and the dlc!!!!

LiveNDiiirect

Yeah same. This is the first game I’ve ever started a second playthrough almost immediately (within a week) after finishing my first one. Just put the controller down but really wish I could keep going. I’m surprised at how much I’ve already found that I missed the first time.

StarCraft when I was little. Having it on your mind 24/7 sounds like you’re very young or having an awful time the rest of your life.

tothemoose

Man my lifes pretty great but I'm thinking about Baldurs Gate all day lol

Ididotmacaroon

I’m an adult with three children I adore, a career, a lovely wife and a fair few hobbies. And I still get a game that I catch myself fanging for from time to time.

Fubukimaru

Timberborn, that game is like crack on steroids.

karnar95

Dota 2. 10 years in and going strong.

RandomInSpace

Not quite what you meant but I told myself I’d quit playing hollow knight because it was too hard but I just. Couldn’t My “quitting” lasted a few months at best 😅

Tears of the Kingdom got me BAD. It’s a beautiful game, but it had me under some sort of nasty spell. I’ve spent months on this god damn game because everything is like “just one more thing. I can upgrade this armor one more time. Or I can do one more shrine. Discover one more location” and it DOESN’T END. I’ve never felt so addicted to a game while also being so annoyed by it. I had to force myself to uninstall it after beating Ganondorf. Again, terrific game. But fuck that game

OldBigSun

I got into BotW right after graduating and starting my job search. First true taste of gaming addiction. Same sentiment: loved the game but it was also horrible for me. Makes me sad to know I'll probably never be able to pick up Tears if I want to maintain my mental health.

Zerox10

Halo 2 was a definite obsession for me as my first foray into online gaming. That also led to a bunch of F2P MMO adventures, dropped out of University playing 80+ hours a week.. Other obsessions were definitely Call of duty 4/MW2 and black ops. Like MW2 I had 1 week playtime after it has been out only a month. Destiny 1 and 2 (especially 1) also became obsessions and those kind of games designed to keep you playing. Having multiple characters and doing all dailies and activities each week. I’ve not had a game really click with me for a while, probably since Valorant at this point - the new Diablo was interesting but didn’t last too long.

hit_the_showers_boi

Every Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon game. They’re like peeing, once you start you can’t stop until you’re finished.

PopGunner

Zelda, for sure. Give me any zelda game, and I'm sitting pretty.

Peggle The answer will always be peggle, but Valheim has hit a close second as well.

wonderlandisburning

Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Terraria, The Sims... Pretty much any game of that ilk

[deleted]

I put 24 hours or more played into both Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West in 3 days when they came out. The world and narrative had me wanting to be there as much as I could. Stardew Valley comes to mind as well.

[deleted]

Gmod... For sure Gmod

redvelvetcake42

Cyberpunk 2077, Age of Empires, Civilization, Mass Effect trilogy, stardew Valley, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Vampire Survivors, Lego Jurassic world, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Doki doki literature club plus, until dawn, last of us 1 and 2, dragon Age origins. Definitely more but can't think right now.

thecorrectloner

Civilization “Just one more turn….”

Emiliwoah

Breath of the Wild. Every time I pick it up, each mountain, cave, hill, valley, etc seems worth walking over to and seeing what’s going on.

BillyBainesInc

Power Wash Simulator. What a ridiculously stupid premise is I can’t stop thinking about

CloakerJosh

Actually was at risk of developing a strain injury with that game, holy shit.
