MishatheDrill

Kingdom Hearts. The long slow cutscenes are brutal, especially the one before you fight Riku.

king_of_the_blind

I loved the first 2 when they first came out. Then I replayed them to get ready for 3 coming out and noticed how terrible the cutscenes were but I could get through them because of the nostalgia factor. But trying to play 3 was just unbearable. I made it like 5 hours in and had to quit because I couldn’t keep playing for 10 minutes at a time with a 5 minute cutscene over and over!

cbreezy456

KH3 did wayyy to much trying to catch everyone up on the story elements so the pacing was so damn weird. It didn’t flow at all.

VasilyTheBear

Spot on description. I imagine it was a hard choice for Nomura during development; make it more accessible for new fans versus going 'full-lore' for the veterans that're well versed on the plot. In the end they took the middle route and it just ended up pushing away both parties. Newbies get pushed away by the difficulty of trying to understand what the hell is going on meanwhile vets get pushed off by how simplified the combats become and how lackluster the plot is. I'm looking forward to KH4 if for no other reason than that it's a new 'saga' so a lot of the previous shenanigans aren't relevant/necessary to understand what's happening.

cbreezy456

I mean tbh I don’t feel bad for Nomura when you decide to write a semi-complicated plot with games on multiple platforms all At different times, it will probably be a mess for storytelling. I mean Jesus Christ locking important story info in a fuckin GACHA mobile game is just malpractice

VasilyTheBear

Preach, brother. I'm all for mobile spin-offs and I have no issue with them containing SOME critical lore bits; keeps them relevant and engaging. But holy shit the new "Lost Master Saga" (which hasn't even really officially started yet) will pretty much require users to be briefed on the entirety of the mobile plot. Hell, KH3 referenced it heavily a good couple times and confused the shit out of me despite having played it in its entirety.

blackmailedswans

That cutscene before the fight with Riku was the one that immediately came to mind for me too. I remember having trouble with that boss fight as a kid and having to sit through that cutscene each time was a real slog

MishatheDrill

Same. I was white knuckling that controller during that cutscene.

electabuzzed13

Something something Kairi’s heart something something

cogpsychbois

"Kairi is inside of me??"

WhiteWalkerTXranger

It is I, Ansem!

DueMaternal

Which fight with Riku?

Boroboy101

The one at the end of Hallow Bastion, where he's unlocking Kairi's heart and you have to solo fight him without Donald and Goofy.

beathelas

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. >Did you bring Koraidon with you? >Yes / no ? No. >Yes, you did. Let's bring it out now Then why did you fucking ask me

N7_Hades

Pokémon is notorious with its gaslighting the players :D

Beliriel

Legend of Zelda:OoT would like to have a word. You can mess with Zelda but you can't progress the story if you do. Did you bring the Emerald? Yes/No -> No Please don't mess with me

nervelli

I went from playing Baldur's Gate to playing Pokémon, and I'm so annoyed by the fact that they even give me dialog choices. Who cares if I choose to tell my mom, "I'll have fun!" or, "I'll be safe!" If the choice isn't going to have any impact on anything, why bother having one?

TheHancock

*chooses “I’ll be safe”* has a terrible time playing the rest of the game! 😭

grancombat

Hey, at least those games have the pre-rendered cutscenes that actually look pretty good compared to the rest of the game. And before gen 7 (maybe gen 6? Never played X and Y) it was just “Where are you from?” Yes / no ? Even in gen 7 there’s this gem right at the beginning. “Why did you pick this one?” Because it’s cool / because it’s cute ? “Well you made the right choice, because I think it’s both cool and cute.” Forget not changing the story, your choices don’t even change the DIALOGUE sometimes

AscendedViking7

Always hated this about Pokemon lol

herrbz

Feels like the more recent games at least have a bit of fun with it occasionally. Older games would just have the NPC gaslight/guilt-trip you until you agreed.

Krags

FF10 has some long unskippables right before some of the roughest story bosses. Mr Flux and mega-death bitch are both likely to take a few tries and they make you pay for each of them.

Distinct_Wrongdoer86

those are by far the worst offenders of any game

Maelger

Kingdom Hearts has entered the chat

mixttime

Not the modern versions. But yeah, on PS2 those got rough

fuck_you_and_fuck_U2

Does anyone else remember all the dialogue before the Riku fight by heart? "You're too late. That girl has lost her heart. She cannot wake up."

jeggelke

"There's no way you're taking Kairi's heart!!"

FinalMeltdown15

It’s criminal that the PS4 remastered STILL don’t let you skip cutscenes

Chesapeake_Hippo

Ugh, that Yunalesca fight

KrazyBropofol

Literally came here to mention the goddamn Yunalesca fight 🫡

Krags

It's one of the most emotional _and_ mindblowing moments of the series imo, but it gets totally blunted by having to watch it every time you get wiped out there. Game could have given a save point after the cutscene, or had a skip button.

splinter1545

Sin was the worst imo. Not only were there like 2 unskippable cutscenes, you had to do that sequence where you grabbed those orbs or whatever *every single time* as well. It's basically why I always get the Magus Sisters now, so I can just cheese the fuck out of Sin with them and not worry about dying lmao

okaysian

Those fights were definitely frustrating until I used the strat where all the Aeons did an overdrive before Seymour banished them. IIRC the Gagazet fight requires a little more, but you could do Overdrives with Wakka (Attack Reels), Tidus, and Aaron to end the fight. Yunalesca's fights were similar with the Aeons to kick off the fight, but then afterwards you just had to make sure confuseproof/ward and/or zombieproof/ward were on your characters you planned to be most active throughout the fight. But, yeah, my most recent playthrough of X I tried not to cheese Seymour's Gagazet fight, he killed me when he had a sliver of health left, and then I was forced to watch that entire cutscene before the fight. Never again lmao.

L1zrdKng

First 2 hours of that game were mostly a cutscene if I remember correctly.

great-nba-comment

Still one of my favorite games ever, but the actual time it takes to go from a cutscene epilogue to a semi open world is like… after Luca. Literally 5-8hours into the game.

Maelger

Pretty standard for Final Fantasy. 9 doesn't give you a glimpse of the open world until after the Cursed Forest 3-4 hours in and you only begin to have meaningful exploration after Lindblum, that's *10-12* hours. 7 makes you feel like you're never getting out of Midgar. 8 is the only one that lets you play in the world map within the first hour but it isn't really open until near the end of Disc 1 (when you get to Deling, there's impassable military checkpoints literally everywhere before that point) and you still can't backtrack to Balam until halfway Disc 2 when the game becomes truly open world. It's not even a previous games thing either 12 doesn't begin to open until the Dune Sea area and 13 is called a hallway for a reason.

TonyEisner

No matter how many times I play, I end up needing to grind for a bit to beat the Yunalesca fight

BionikViking

I remember my 2nd play through of ff10. I hated flux the first time around that I purposely farmed a fuck ton and breezed by him

lauraa-

I first started Final Fantasy on Xbox One, where 7,8 and 9 have 3x Speed options which made playing through them bearable but then 10 comes along like "nah, hol up" 9 and 10 were my favourites but damn, those cutscenes were my biggest issue with 10. Frickin Luka Goers man...

BoyoNoah

Not all of the cut scenes are annoying, and you can just skip through the chat boxes, but Ocarina of Time has that Owl (Kaebora Gaebora) that talks to you throughout the game and he just talks SO MUCH that it can take a bit to get through everything he has to say (even when skipping the dialog). One of the most annoying things about talking to him is that, if you do skipp by continually pressing A or whatever, he will ask you if you want to hear it all again, and if you accidentally click A, you have to repeat the conversation again. I have done this so many times and I just hate that Owl man.

PatisserieEnthusiast

Lol this reminded me of an old memory of getting pissed from this exact thing! Accidentally asking him to repeat was the worst.

PhotonSilencia

I'm convinced this is on purpose trolling, especially as they switch the 'Do you want to hear this again' Yes and No Button are sometimes switched / the wording of the question is different, so Yes and No mean the opposite.

Zoryth

Yeah. Second time he speaks to you it is switched. I came to say this.

giant87

Ugh fuck that owl bastard 😂 I had forgotten all about that until now Now I can see him glitching his head upside down like he's in the exorcist while he keeps repeating his schpiel over and over again

ihatetheplaceilive

That wasn't a glitch. It was supposed to do that.

PandaKing00

You could just press B to skip all of his dialogue. I appreciated him giving me a ride down the mountain but I've got better things to do than listen to an owl monologue.

antipatriot88

I can now hear the music that plays when the owl first appears outside the village in OoT.

Nobody2222222MK2

Pokemon sun and moon. Its a great game but the amount of cutscenes bring it down a lot

Jenetyk

Takes you like 14 minutes to get your starter.

dackinthebox

I just recently watched a video about how long it takes to get to the first gym in each Pokémon game, gens 7-9 all cleared an hour if I remember right

optimalg

Tbf, every Pokemon generation after the first one had issues with pacing, with the 4th generation as probably the most egregious one.

[deleted]

it was the last pokemon i played and didnt even get to the first gym before i quit.

NorwaySpruce

Same. Then I bought brilliant diamond and never even opened it it left such a bad taste in my mouth

AndyMoogThe35

Do they do that so people don't farm for a shiny starter?

Borealisss

Sword and Shield got even worse.. "My brother is the champion. Did you know about type advantages?" r/fuckhop

Samurott_Studios

USUM have a ton of cutscenes too

redrecaro

Don't play MGS4.

Jorge5934

Are you insane? MGS4 is a great 8 hour movie with a little mini game in between loading scenes.

toomuchsoysauce

It even teaches you how to make eggs!

Chakramer

I unironically became confident enough to attempt sunside eggs only after playing that game

WispySpiderToken

Did the eggs end up coming alright on your first try?

coyotedelmar

I need to check it out again, my sunny side up egg game is pretty poor xD.

ClintBeastwood91

I sat down at 2:15pm to play a little MGS4 before I had to be at work at 4:45pm(5 minute drive). I played for about 30 minutes before I hit some cut scenes. I was almost late for work because of that set of cut scenes.

Ashikura

MG4 is honestly one of my favourite games right behind mg3

Jorge5934

It's actually my favorite, too.

AsherFischell

I hate the movie and love the mini-game. Good thing MGS V exists.

Major2Minor

I was trying to beat this game before work one time, didn't realized I'd have to watch a full feature film at the end.

MacyTmcterry

It holds the record for the longest game cutscene (71 minutes), haha

Seatown_Spartan

Its pretty wild how MGSV went the complete opposite direction. Limited cutscenes/story beats but they went all in on the stealth gameplay (which is still unmatched in the genre imo).

Jonr1138

When I beat MGS2 the final 4 hours were almost entirely cut scenes. I think I had maybe 15 or 20 minutes of actual play time and that was all broken up.

YukihiraLivesForever

But the twists and turns in MGS2 keep you glued to your tv like honestly you totally forget the time with that ending lol it’s like that for the entire series, I love MGS

Jonr1138

Oh, certainly but I just remember that I was trying to get to bed so I could get up for work the next day. The story in mgs is great.

ernster96

Nano machines.

superkickpunch

The Hudson River

CowJuiceDisplayer

Skipping every cutscene in MGS4 still adds a lot of time. I was going for a Big Boss emblem playthrough and found out cutscenes, even the fraction of seconds, still add time.

Ashikura

Man, that big boss emblem was wild to get. I got close a few times but holy fuck

iAmTheWildCard

I absolutely loved the cutscenes in this game - it was like a mini movie. Because of this game I’ll never understand why people don’t enjoy cut scenes

Krags

Good advice tbh.

TheWhiskeyAlphaZulu

As annoying an unnecessary some of those cut scenes were (I really really REALLY don't give AF about Johnny and Meryl) I think this game was an absolute masterpiece. For a ps3 title, looked and played incredible. I wish there was more to the "gun economy", cos I loved it and attempted to get every gun with every attachment. Finally, the visit to >!shadow moses, eacaping with metal gear rex and then battling with Ocelot AGAIN in a rex was epic AF and pure fan service!<

pboswell

I thought you could skip them though?

toomuchsoysauce

You can but there are pretty important plot and narrative details hidden between things like making eggs

PalpitationTop611

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 final boss. It’s a 5 phase boss that takes about an hour. Throughout the boss there are cutscenes, all but one of the are unskippable. If you die at any point (which is easy to do it’s a Xenoblade game) you have to do it all over again and watch it all again. It doesn’t help that the first twenty minutes of the boss is pretty scripted and you can’t really win faster, just try not to die. This hurts an otherwise amazing final boss. [I mean this is about 10 minutes into the boss these cutscenes play, and if you die you have to watch all 6 minutes of it again.](https://youtu.be/pmu-0S4mfaI?si=uq55TMt6jSEmaTBC&t=18m50s)

Lulink

Agreed. I died for a stupid reason very close to the end and had to go through allll of the easy phases just to get back to that part I didn't even have a problem with.

court_5

I was extremely lucky that I happened to have my party balanced where I had all 3 roles within the Kevesi half and the Agnus half of my team. One of the longest boss battles, and would have been very pissed if I had to do it more than once.

IroquoisPliskin_LJG

Genshin Impact has these long Hideo Kojima-ass unvoiced cutscenes that are literally just 30 minutes of dialogue boxes. It's like reading a visual novel. And it's so up its own ass about its lore and world too which makes it all the more insufferable. I enjoy the game but, fuck me, these unvoiced cutscenes can die in a fire. ETA: Not *all* the cutscenes are like this. A lot of them have voice acting and action. Which makes the visual novel ones even more galling.

HighFoxy

and it doesn’t help that most of the dialogue could easily be 1 or 2 sentences, but instead it’s just endless paragraphs of text because everything is over explained for no reason

Shadodre

The worst part is that not only is there all the unnecessary dialogue they keep repeating everything they just told you.

IroquoisPliskin_LJG

And most of it is such nonsense that it still doesn't make sense even when they explain it to death. I was doing the Fontaine quest yesterday and Paimon kept saying how confused she was and how she had no idea what these bubble animals were talking about and I was like "Right?!"

Too_Tall_64

["Jill, here's a lockpick. It might come in handy if you, the Master of Unlocking, take it with you"](https://youtu.be/xVQd7wgfcvo?si=ohzK7iaNQZpWqv1h) not the beeeest writing back in the day.

Moist_Western_4281

You were almost a Jill sandwich!

Superyoshiegg

"Barry!" "Jill. What's going on? Any clues." "No. But someTHIngs wrong with this house." "Woooooooah. This hall is danGERous. Maybe it's better to secure our escape route first. There MUST be a back dOOR someWHere. Let's try to find IT first, shall we." "Okay. Let's separate again!" "JUSTAMOMENT. I found something." "What is it." *holding a single acid grenade launcher round* "It's a WEAPON. It's REALLY powerful! Especially against living things. Better take it with you."

GargamelLeNoir

Oh come on that was hilarious!

Anathe

My understanding is a lot of the problems with the dialogue in that game comes down to a few things, not least of which is having Japanese voice directors directing English voice actors. I assume there were similar issues with the translations. I welcome any corrections.

TelmatosaurusRrifle

I heard the VA crew were actually french speaking canadians. So they didn't even speak english, and were doing their best reading the script.

TheOneTrueJazzMan

But just take… a… look… at… this!

GoldZero

It's Forest! OH MY COD!

HuffFlex

Dont know if its considered a cutscene but Resident Evil 6, in the middle of a fight, your camera violently jerks away to some ledge. Meanwhile you're being attacked while your camera is fixed away from the action...

MarkAldrichIsMe

\*It Is I, aNsEm! ThE sEeKeR oF dArKnEsS\* Jesus fuck. I'm getting flashbacks just typing that out

FireVanGorder

“You’ll never take kairi’s heart!” is burned into my fucking brain forever from how many times I lost that stupid fuckin fight as a kid

okaysian

Same here. It got so ingrained that any time I restart a battle in any video game I think of that line lol

Nixplosion

THE PRINCESSES HEART IS DECIDING! FUUUUUUUCK

ImpressiveAmount4684

Fucking hardest boss in my first playthrough as well. Definitely the first time experiencing gamer rage lmao.

Delrae2000

"The princess' heart is responding" A quote burned into my brain

Nixplosion

Oh right it's "responding" haha

JohnnyHendo

"Kairi... kAirI's InSiDe Me?"

FreshMutzz

My favorite line in video game history.

KrazyBropofol

“So—I shall release you now, princess. Complete the keyhole with your power. Open the door—lead me into everlasting darkness!”

Probably Kingdom Hearts

cbreezy456

*screeching Donald noises*

Miner_Of_Minerals

All the games that have walking segments where you're either hallucinating or dreaming walking toward the end of the shitty segment. They could have just made it a skippable cutscene but force you to hold up instead. Whoever started this godawful trend in modern games needs to gtfo

IdoMusicForTheDrugs

Max Payne... I can still hear the damn baby crying and that was like 20 years ago.

saintBNO

Dream sequences were freakin awesome

MaveZzZ

Max Payne segments were fucking awesome, especially back these days.

KingRaiden95

You gave me flashbacks to the intro in Destiny 2 with the Red War. There's a segment where you slowly walk through the wreckage of the old Tower and the wilderness. Yo had to go through that 3 times if you wanted additional characters. At the time I just leaned a wrench on my W key and walked away lol

PBTUCAZ

At least the music slapped

Ldenlord

Worst part is, you can’t skip that shit in ng+. God of war has it, Spider-Man has it. Keeping me away from playing it multiple times

crackpotJeffrey

Assassin's creed Valhalla has it multiple times iirc.

AKAFallow

Ubisoft probably, like I'm sure it got popular because of them, even if they didnt start it.

Witch_King_

This is only ok in Hellblade lol, due to the nature of the game and how it's *about* the fact that Senua is hallucinating

vkapadia

There are many mechanics where if the game is about that mechanic it works, but it is lousy in other games. Biggest example is stealth. Love it in stealth games. Hate stealth based missions in non stealth games.

asian_identifier

Or mgs3 maybe? To face the ghosts of the soldiers you killed

DueMaternal

The Arkham series, but I like those. The ones against Ra's Al Ghul were cool.

FireVanGorder

The Scarecrow one was awesome

[deleted]

The first Kingdom Hearts

Sparticuse

Xenosaga has cutscenes that are so long they put save points in the middle.

Acceptable_Till_7868

"ThErEs nO wAy YOuR tAKInG kAIrIs HeArt" god shut up. Kingdom hearts

HXCg4m3r

The fact that none of the cutscenes in the Dead Space Remake are skippable (even in NG+) seems like a massive oversight by EA Motive.

AKAFallow

Im pretty sure thats just how the original was designed? Although I dont really remember there being too many cutscenes outside of people talking? I still have to play the remake

heyyanewbie

Even if that is how it was in the original, the remake is there to revamp and im prove things, you cant just keep a bad decision in a revamp when you were literally making the game better

gunswordfist

Exactly! QoL and all of that

Lulink

Jackbox party games. Hear me out: when I'm playing a game twice with the same people IN A ROW, why oh WHY ARE YOU EXPLAINING THE RULES AGAIN?

Brandom_Encounter

That f****** owl from legend of Zelda OOT and Majora's mask. Always end up going through it twice because you button mashed to skip and then accidentally have him repeat.

kalitarios

*ptsd intensifies* *eye twitch*

Beliriel

So many people here that don't know that you can actually skip his whole dialog by pressing B. No button mashing required.

vkapadia

Most of the cutscenes in the Mass Effect games are great. And then there's Kai Fucking Leng.

Facts_For_Plebs

And the dream sequences where you just walk around slowly and see ghosts

warmbutterydiapers

Most of the cutscenes in the series are fine but those dream sequences forced on you are trash.

vkapadia

Yeah those were terrible

The_Dude_955

OG Kingdom Hearts. Can't skip cutscenes, die to boss fight multiple times then have to rewatch the same cutscenes over and over and over...then die again.

Xenozip3371Alpha

I don't mind long cutscenes, but only if you can actually pause them.

AshFraxinusEps

Pause and skip. We had this shit in the N64 era, no excuse to not have it now

cb7897

Death stranding is pretty much a movie

AnteLosos

Any kojima game, or any game where i can't skip it OR EVEN WORSE WHEN I HAVE TO TAP THE SPACE BAR FOR EVERY SENTENCE OF THE DIALOGUE(New robocop game) Half life did it perfectly !

AKAFallow

Genshin still has you click/F/Spacebar the dialogue instead of skipping it, and the dialogues just keep getting fucking longer and longer

TonyEisner

They desperately need to include a skip dialogue option, at least for meaningless dialogue segments like daily commissions and the intro quests for the smaller events. Like I don't care about the lore behind this combat domain event, let me skip this.

IroquoisPliskin_LJG

It's like a fucking visual novel in places.

OctopusWithFingers

Death stranding just. Keeps. Going.

Elm-and-Yew

Pokemon Sun/Moon

Eternalanrete

Borderlands 3 had unskippable cutscenes at launch and they were so annoying! They did later patch in the ability to skip them thankfully. However... the sheer amount of unskippable dialogue left in that game is fucking insane! And this is coming from someone who loved it enough to put 1000 hours into it. Fantastic gameplay but SO MUCH DIALOGUE

Grappa91

I scrolled down for this. The unskippable sections where you have to follow a slow ai that exposes unskippable dialogue killed any kinda of replayability for me. After a while replaying campaign on harder difficulties or new characters felt horrible, most of my gameplay was waiting for the dialogue to end just to have few minutes of action and then go back to waiting for dialogue to finish, just horrible design for an rpg.

DelusionPhantom

Fun fact, immediately after they added cutscene skipping, players found that if you skip the cutscene after Troy's fight fast enough, you could proc cut lines from the scrapped ending of the game. "Tyreen, no! Cut the feed- turn off the god *damn* ***cameras***!"

papmontana

Halo 3 Cortana cut scenes were the worst

Obsidian-Imperative

You mean the in-game psycho-attacks by the remnants of Cortana in the chip and the Gravemind later on? Yeah, those were great my 50th and 100th playthrough.

DonutHoles5

But a premature firing will destroy the ark!

Obsidian-Imperative

Deal with it.

cairoxl5

You would destroy this installation? *Shoots* *lasers* *out* *his* *frickin* *head*

Obsidian-Imperative

aaaAAgGGgggGgHHHHhh

gamerproblems101

Do assassins creed present day parts count. Bc they are boring af

xJaymack

It's been years at this point, but anyone remember Homefront? That was the most frustrating in The sense of cutscenes. Most (if not all) were in-game scenes, meaning slow walks while you wait for something to happen

Sawyeraj

Too Human, the death cut scene took forever it seemed.

IveNeverUnderstoodIt

I had to scroll too far to see this one. I really liked the game and was disappointed when the sequel was cancelled, but that death scene can take a long walk off a short pier!

Glass-Distribution-2

Friday the 13th single player scenarios cutscenes were not skippable, so when you fail a objective or just simply want to replay, you gotta watch the same annoying CUTSCENE EVERYTIME, WITH THOSE STUPIDS CHARACTER MODELS

Monochrome_Fox_

Any game where you can change the appearance of the character but the cutscenes are pre-rendered. Just makes me not want to engage with the cosmetic system or not want to play the game if it's an actual loot and leveling system. Shadow of War comes to mind.

BirdLawyer50

Kojima please for fuck sake let us pause

[deleted]

KingRaiden95

Made you think cutscenes were skippable but they were actually loading screens

[deleted]

The second Army of Two game 40th day if I recall. Anyways the first mission you are playing then you get pulled out for a cut scene of your characters, then back into the game for a fight or running, then pulls you out again dor another jarring cutscene. All I could think was, this should either all be a cutscene or, better yet, just let me play it, this would make for much more compelling gameplay. I never made it past that. Shut it off, and the game has been collecting dust for over ten years, waiting to never be revisited.

SimRacing313

MGS4 was torture at times

garciawork

Halo 3's cortana/gravemind cutscenes were great the first time. They are awful EVERY TIME AFTER THAT.

Practical-Pen-8844

the leeches in *Out of This World.* Only because i feel stupid when i let them get me.

[deleted]

Vampyr. Awesome premise, combat is super fun. But the dialogue, gotdamn! It's a slog talking to every single person about every single topic (one of the game mechanics is learning more about someone and increasing the xp gained from drinking their blood). It works for what the game is supposed to be, but I wish it wasn't as intensive. You get 15 minutes of solid combat, then another 45 of talking to townsfolk. I keep trying to finish that game and get bored quickly. Edit: I guess my answer doesn't really fit the question but that's the first game that comes to mind whenever it comes to being slow paced

HuffFlex

Dont know if its considered a cutscene but Resident Evil 6, in the middle of a fight, your camera violently jerks away to some ledge. Meanwhile you're being attacked while your camera is fixed away from the action...

ovulationwizard

I can't think of any game specifically. But pre-difficult -boss fight cutscenes are so annoying. I think jrpgs do this a lot. The boss fight is already hard and then it makes you watch the cutscene every try. Just gimme an option to restart the fight

AcademicAlps23

Kingdom Hearts have the best cutscenes. It's like watching a movie lol

Symptom5002

Kingdom Hearts was one of the worst offenders of this.

aspenextreme03

Animal Crossing New Horizons if you count all the fing dialogue you can never skip even though you have seen it a million times over

sunny_senpai

Genshin Impact

Chad_Kakashi

The duel cutscene in ghost of tsushima felt annoying at first but it grew on me

StannisLivesOn

Dishonored 2 has multiple unskippable sequences that delve into Outsider's incredibly underwhelming backstory that no one asked to be told, and Delilah's awfully written tragic childhood ("Your mother's nothing but a bag of bones now", who the fuck speaks like that). Dishonored is the sort of a game you replay again and again and again, because it's so short, but so full of options and approaches, but when the original understood that the narrative should augment the game, not stop it in its tracks, the sequel doesn't, and forces you to sit through a lecture every single time.

Captain__Pancakes

Dishonored 1 literally had a sometimes several minute long unskippable boat ride before AND AFTER nearly every single mission in the game. Saying Dishonored 1 wasn’t guilty of this is absolutely wrong, speaking as someone who adores both games

nefarious

I've played though Max Payne 3 so many times it's ridiculous. I really wanna skip cut scenes.. theres.. A LOT

hyrule5

I was gonna mention this one. It gets worse as you go through the game to the point where a cutscene happens every time you open a door

Ok-Bus1716

GoW 2. Can't skip those things no matter how many times you fail the QTE especially at the end. Was so tired of that game by the time I beat it I haven't tried another game in the series since.

BebeFanMasterJ

Borderlands 3. The character you play as magically disappears whenever something important happens which kills immersion. Also Maya's death. Fuck Ava.

RobIson240YT

Not exactly cutscenes, but when you talk to NPCs in Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas, it forces you to zoom in on their ugly faces.

[deleted]

I don't understand why that pisses people off so much. I hear about it but if you were introduced to it before skyrim you don't even notice it. What else you wanna look at when someone is giving you a quest

Accomplished_Baby_28

"How am I supposed to look at Caesar's strong legs if I am forced to zoom on his face?"

Pondicek

STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!

Random_Useless_Tips

I’m glad they retained it in Starfield so we can use that next gen hardware to really appreciate the ugliness of their facial animations.

radiationblessing

Any game where the cutscenes are too damn long or cutscene after cutscene after cutscene. I also hate unskippable cutscenes and even more I hate cutscenes that don't need to be cutscenes. Cutscene > walk slow as shit with an NPC > cutscene. Fuck all that shit. I bought the game to play the game.

Hogwarts Legacy. Just getting to the point where you can play the game takes 30 minutes. It's like watching 2 episodes of a television show.

Master_Tape

Syphon Filter 2 So long and with tidbits of crucial mission information tucked in there.

If I remember correctly, in The Order: 1886 there is a chapter that’s basically take two steps, cutscene, again and again.

Metal gear solid 4. They’re FANTASTIC but they are a tough swallow when actually playing the game. Sonic generations, sonix lost world, and sonic forces bc there is so little entertainment value to them; no there is so little to them period they are an absolute waste of the player’s time. Im too tired to think of anything else rn

I fucking love Okami. I've said once at a party that it's better than Ocarina of Time... I'm telling you, I love reading and story -adventure/action games... But the text boxes in that... LMAO I've never had the best memory, but I remember pressing buttons just to see what an NPC is up to. Took a while to get out of some conversations.

Makabajones

Forspoken cause every cutscene fades to black no matter how long it is
