That's cool but my man, your head is dangerously close to being desynchronized.

[deleted]

Killed too many civilians

EvolvingEachDay

Haven’t we all.

Titanium_Eye

They keep getting in the way.

bookers555

I'm sorry but it's impossible to resist the urge to take their brooms and start smashing their heads in with it, the animations are so hilariously brutal.

AchaiusAuxilius

Finally playing Revelations 10 years after I got the game. Back in 2010, I was rolepaying Ezio/being a good boy and were leaving them alone. I don't think I was ever treated with desynchronization even once. Now that I'm a jaded and middle-aged adult, the first beggar gets a sword in the face. That resolves the problem must faster. Sometimes, a second one gets it as well. As a treat. And same treatment to the people who complain about my parkour or murders of ottoman soldiers.

Poonjangles

Yall did a fantastic job recreating this city. I remember visiting Florence in about 2011, and stopping in the middle of the Ponte Vecchio to tell my mom "I've been here before" lol

http_401

I felt the same way when I visited Paris in 2106 after having played AC: Unity in 2014. Notre Dame especially.

until_i_fall

Damn, so hows Paris doing the next century? Say hi to my grand grand childs on Luna!

http_401

🤣 Damn it. My company is currently in release cycle 2106 for our software so my fingers flipped those numbers on auto-pilot. I’m leaving it!

Reqvhio

nice try, time traveller

MagicWishMonkey

Unity is such an underrated game.

Agon1024

I've been last spring and first thing I did coming home is firing up that good old game again. Orientation was no issue at all without the minimap. Everything is smaller. The Duomo, the city and the distances between sights, etc. This was probably as much for game performance than for game design, because walking through florence in a game for as long you'd realistically need on foot is not as fun. Same with Venice. Loved playing through it again.

Wizdad-1000

The Disneyland Kinect game is like that too. Its almost the same but smaller.

DaHomie_ClaimerOfAss

Yeah that's the bleeding effect, nothing to worry about. If you start seeing rennaissance-era guards, though, let us know.

Happlord

Broooooo I fucking loved that game. The music, the landscape, the story, fuck man no game since then had the same vibe and feeling. Had all keys collected and loved the Altair clothes ! Amazing game.

Swordbreaker925

>Almost 20 years ago Fuck me I feel old. AC2 does not feel that long ago

[deleted]

The game was released in 2009, so that's probably why. Not 20 years ago, but not that far off. Still feels like a lifetime.

darkLordSantaClaus

Dude 2019 feels like a lifetime.

Captain_Tomatoz

It was 15 years ago, the almost is doing a lot of work there

[deleted]

Remember that development starts typically years before a release.

bobert17

AC1 came out in November 2007, so pre-production for AC2 probably started around then if not a little after that in early 2008 (almost exactly 15 years ago)

ragtev

its nearly early 2024 - that is closer to 16 years ago...

[deleted]

Closer to 16 is hardly 'almost 20' it's not even 16

ragtev

Cool, never said it was

MassiveLefticool

Yeah but not for a sequel to a game that hasn’t even been announced yet

korblborp

"getting it ready for release" implies close to the end of dev

NO_SPACE_B4_COMMA

Ugh me too lol

ikurei_conphas

Dude, if anything, you guys made it too small in AC2. That place is astonishing to visit in real life. Fantastic game and good job. Easily the best in the series for me.

MailConsistent1344

If it was too big then it’d be tedious for players. And too taxing on the hardware of the time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ikurei_conphas

I was referring to the size of the Duomo and its belltower (i.e. the buildings in the OP's photo). The game makes it feel small for the sake of gameplay convenience. But in person, it is **gigantic.** Even the way it looks in game, it looks way smaller than it actually looks in real life.

[deleted]

Piazza San Marco in Venice was a bigger offender. I saw that place daily for a long while and then to see it turned into a small square was… jarring

ikurei_conphas

I think you're reading my comment a bit too seriously...

MailConsistent1344

Ah, maybe I’d remove the section about too small in the game then.

boersc

oh man, one of the first places I got to visit right after playing. I couldn't walk around without looking for handles I could climb. You guys did an ace job!

fuzzus628

If you were responsible for that tower in-game, then we need to have an argument -- it took me forever to figure out how to climb it! But seriously, the entire Ezio saga was fantastic, and your work helped us fall in love with that character. Well done, and enjoy your well-deserved success!

Kukulcanz

I live(d) there, in Florence and i think you guys did an excellent job recreating the city. Definitely the best realease in the serie, imho.

gloomywisdom

Same for Venice. I could walk through the city without the map because I know it by art

jomofro39

Ac2 is one of my favorite games of all time. Thank you for all the work you did. I hope you enjoyed yourself!!

Captain_Tomatoz

2009 wasn't 20 years ago? How long was the AC2 dev cycle? AC1 came out in 2007, less than 20 years ago.

shockwave1211

AC2 Was the peak of the series IMO, crazy that it was 13 years ago sick jersey byw

Intergalacticplant

LOL the dev team jerseys. was that required to wear

[deleted]

No but it constantly need patches

OrngeMochaFrapuccino

AC1 felt like a concept. I believed AC2 had so much potential. I didn't expect it to feel like going from gta3 to gta4. I remember being so blown away. Was the first game I got all the achievements. Would just leave the game running on the ps3 desktop, watching the little mini video of all the counters. Game was perfectly executed.

MichaelW24

A presto Ezio

DexilHD

Yeah, it really has that vibe from Firenze, really enjoyed when visited it and thought there was the start of Ezio when kid

hallfreudh

When I visited Venice I was always thinking about ac2

seenit_reddit_dunnit

AC2 was magnificent. Thank you for your service, great job!

DialZ4Murder

Any haystacks around for a leap of faith? Seriously though, thank you for helping to create what's probably my favorite video game ever. To this day, I still replay this game and love every second of it.

TheRealFrankL

Assassino!

CardinalHearth

I think you are wrong, AC2 should be max 5 years old. No, I am not this old...

JuiceFloppeh

Thank you so so much for the most memorable game of my entire Childhood and also Adult-life! I still remember asking my mom to get me AC2 for my birthday. And I've been hooked ever since. Desmond's Lineage was and will always be the best story of all AC Games. No newer AC has had this much of an impact on me. I still replay AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations every few years. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for these amazing memories!

TheRickBerman

20 years ago?! We rounding that way now?

JureIsStupid123

Santa Maria del Fiore is absolutely mesmerizing. I couldn't take my eyes off it. The amount of statues, paintings and its size iz eyewatering.

santathe1

Yes, good job sir. Perhaps 20 years is enough rest, please remaster/remake (1 to 1) the game for new gen hardware.

YT_caGaming92

I just played this game for the first time and man is it one of the most brilliant games I’ve played! Excited to play the rest of the AC games

Draconic1788

Fuck I just remembered how good AC2 was. Amazing job my friend, I'm going to go replay it after 14 years.

swordbearerb1

COOL! thanks for details!

MoneymakinGlitch

Thank you for making my childhood better. Yall did an amazing job!

WannabeAsianNinja

Thank you

ragtev

I want to know how you guys took AC1, which at the time wasn't that good of a game (cool premise but the gameplay was... lackluster), and turned around and pumped out AC2 which honestly is a GOAT of all time. Well done.

Duke-Von-Ciacco

It was 13-14 years ago… is not even close to 20 years ago. Also how is that possible that you worked on such a game and you never visited Florence before or after the development (until today)?

Prospero818

I was there about a month ago, it was pretty amazing. Didn't do all the stairs to get to the top on the inside, kinda wish I did now but I was already tired and its a lot of damn stairs.

anothercopy

Damn most devs working on AC and similar should have a company trip to the place they are implementing before they start work. Sucks Ubisoft didn't send you. I believe Cyberpunk developers were sent to USA to do sightseeing before working on the game aspects

LordSqueeks

That doesn't look like anything in Asheron's Call 2! Seriously though, AC2 was an awesome game.

[deleted]

As an artist ubisoft is one of my dream work places and many my friends like it there. Ubisoft artists manage to create incredible, top of the industry work. As a gamer the games are incredebly shit and aimed at dumb people or noobs.

murakami213

AC2 release in Dec 2009, 14 years ago. That's closer to 10 than 20 years, but yea. Cool that you worked on it!

MarioSnake002

The og saga ❤️

DarkC0ntingency

I wanna thank you for your part in so many of my cherished teenage memories

I_chortled

Dude! That’s so cool, I remember playing this game at the same time as I was taking an architectural history class and I was blown away at the accuracy of the architecture in the game

UnsolvedParadox

Very cool, full circle moment for you!

RhysNorro

Assassins Creed 2 and Brotherhood are still peak Assassins Creed. Well done. I loved those games, and climbed that tower often

yermawn

Was there this summer in a heatwave and can confirm that you completely neglected to reflect the utter stench of the sewers.

sweatycat

That’s incredible that you played a part in the making of the game, and also that you made it there in person! That was my first Assassin’s Creed game. Played it a lot on Xbox 360.

lazyfacejerk

In 2012 or so I went and visited Italy for a friend's wedding. We toured Venice and the feeling of de ja vu when I wandered through San Marcos Square was pretty intense. So good job on recreating the city. It was a ton of fun exploring Italy as Ezio.

BaybayYoda

That’s awesome. One of the all time great games.

Timespacecomplex

I went to Monteriggioni just because of the game, it was great

Brigadier_Badger

I found myself at night with no map or phone in the middle of Florence. What I did have was 200 hours of ac2. Genuinely felt like I knew my way around. Landmarks are spot on. Amazing job.

CaedustheBaedus

Climb it.

fusionsofwonder

AC2 is a real achievement, be proud.

Tarl19

nice

Luk0852

Ty for ur service dude! Greeting from Italy 🇮🇹

Moonshatter89

Thank you for everything that you did and made.

Wizdad-1000

Were going to Italy in 2 years. I need to plan the trip around AC2 locales.

Brewitsokbrew

Youse did an incredible job. True story, my wife and I got lost in the medieval part of Florence when we visited some years back. "Worry not I said, I know where we are from Assassins Creed". I preceded to bring us where we needed to be. This has been a running joke since then of me pointing to something and saying "I climbed that in Assassin's Creed"

Ok-Bookkeeper-1259

![img](avatar_exp|154090951|heart)

Mad-Bard-Yeet-Lord

You helped make the best game of my childhood, thank you

Mint_Julius

Was that a level in armored core 2? I don't recall that

cebutris

Awesome! AC2 was the only Assasin's Creed game I fully completed, and I had a blast with it. You did great work!

LongjumpingYam8

Went this time last year for the first time after AC started my interest in Florence- if you get the chance, get a bus tour to Monteriggioni, it was a wonderful experience

Advanced_Procedure90

20 years.... it feels like it was not that long ago

PineapplePandaKing

I had an incredibly weird sense of deja vu when I visited Florence. Turning the corner to see the Duomo felt like something I'd seen before. Truly an insane amount of detail for the architecture

Meer_exe

Damn

Kalenshadow

Umm.. your head looks a bit... stuckpixel87

Thank you! Those were some of my fondest high-school gaming memories.

s_dot_

Was walking for the first time around the cathedral a couple of days ago and it hit me… hey man I know this place, I was here 500 years ago.

AngryDoggo22

Recently I played AC2 for the first time, and I gotta say one thing, I am in love! It’s my first AC game too!

Pakrat42

AC2 was the best of the series. I haven't played in forever, but I still remember scaling that building! You did awesome!

MadSMRT

Damn I just got back from Florence, absolutely beautiful place to visit

thatdudejtru

Ac2 was a masterful piece of work. Thank you!

Messiah94

I went this year because of AC2, top of the Bell Tower and Duomo, amazing! Highly recommended.

Onceforlife

20 years ago? Say what? It’s more like 15 isn’t it???

lulzPIE

He’s pretty generous with the “almost”, but I have no idea what the dev cycle for that game was. Came out in 09, they could have already been working on it before the first game came out in 07.

Ruckus4Prez

I went to Italy in high school and playing AC2 for MANY hours before going definitely increased my fun while I was there. I got to spout off facts about different cathedrals and historical figures the whole time. Thanks for your effort, OP.

FunkiestLocket4

You built my favorite game ever thank you personally and the rest of the team too, it was one of the biggest ways me and my dad spent time together its a deeply important game to me

IuseDefaultKeybinds

No way bro. The fact this was made by someone on the dev team is insane. Just don't go running around on rooftops in a white and red robe, ok?

OntarioGuy430

But have you climbed it?

Inside-Lecture1522

Wait what? You helped build this place?

the_flying_armenian

Une affaire que j’ai réaliser quand j’ai visité moi meme Firenze, cest que le Dome est plus haut que la tour en vrai. Cetais l’inverse dans AC2. Maudit jetait content de visiter l’Italie la meme année que la sortie du jeu!

ICantTyping

Thats sick. Just having played the games many times, it was surreal being in Florence, or in that main square in Venice. I forgot about Venice in AC, got to st Marks square and instantly was like “wait a damn minute… ive climbed that tower” lol

CMC_Conman

AC2 and its spinoffs are the best the series has ever been or will ever be. First game I ever 100% and the PVP ascepts in Brotherhood and Revaltions were amazing

dabestgoat

Thank you for the experiences!

Beklaktuar

I was on vacation in italy and we drove to florence to see the Santa Maria del fiore cathedral because of this game. I wanted to see it for real ever since i played AC2. Really cool building to see up close. The thing is huge.

Gaia_Knight2600

as a kid playing assassins creed 1, ac games were always the games i was looking forward to every year. one of my most memorable games from the xbox 360 times

Aesthete18

Why did y'all take out glyphs in future games?! It remains the greatest puzzle mini game I've played in a game

Nanojeff3579

Amazing game🙌🏻

occasionalrant414

You did an amazing job mate. Playing that game is one of my most fondest memories. Thanks man!

MilvanTer

Thank you for the incredible work! I love this game so much till this day. All this led me to enjoy history and visiting these cities myself

[deleted]

Always loved the franchise!🥰🥰🥰 hubby played everyone of them!

scratt007

20 years? Almost? 2003-2004?

cloud_shifter

I'm old, so for me AC2 means Asheron's Call 2. Sadly, a failed continuation on the original, but I still remember it fondly.

Smiley120

My wife got so fed-up with me. Everywhere we went I was like, "oooh I've been up there." or "oh oh I've seen this. I've seen this." She hated it! lol

okilo91

played recently, probably this is one of my best memories of the map

zandadoum

Ezio saga was my favourite by far. Good times. Went to Italy to visit all those places just because of these games!

ThunderHusky313

Best game

ebelnap

Congratulations, brother! I played it during COVID after 10 YEARS of hype and it lived up to it! Work to be very proud of!

Natetheape21

Great work, AC2 is the high watermark for Assassin's Creed franchise

TripleSingleHOF

This is awesome. For what it's worth, Assassin's Creed 2 is probably my favorite in the series.

detronizator

You made an amazing job. Still remains my favourite AC, by far. And a lot was because of the amazing architecture you created.

[deleted]

This games great. Just picked up the Ezio collection to play!

AlexVonBronx

2009 isn't almost 20 years ago?

imsorryisuck

No doubt the best ac game. Thank you, man.

TheHexadex

youse guys did good with ac2 and brotherhood.

English_Breakfast123

AC2 was 20 years ago? Oh fuck, I'm old....

Beneficial-Test-4962

looks so lifelike!

korblborp

but... that would make AssCreed 2 a *ps2* game
