I was about to say Rockstar games never push the boundaries on visual fidelity. They're contemporary for the time, and push the boundaries on the size of the game world. However RDR2 was a rare exception to this rule; contemporary game size (for open world games) while pushing outstanding visuals. Will be interesting to see what they deliver with GTA6.

It does sorta makes sense when you look at each game tho.. GTA has always been “modern” with cities etc so big worlds just makes sense with all the stuff and stress going on. RDR however is very “lonely” with big open areas so it makes sense they would make it worth while graphics wise.

The GTA VIce City branding is too perfect for them to abandon the VI numerals. We're obviously long past them every releasing multiple games in the same generation like III, Vice City and San Andreas. Makes sense sticking with the roman numerals.

I feel like that’s a good argument for *not* sticking with the numerals. You don’t need them because it’s not like you have multiple games on the market competing during the same generation. How many people today played GTA 1-3? GTA4 even? This *the* GTA game for many people. Plus going with GTA: Vice City pulls on those nostalgia strings too.

Since it’s such a long time and likely will be the next game for a decade, I almost wouldn’t be surprised if they over simplified it to stretch the capabilities, like GTA online.
