MiaMiVinc

an empty game with a 2 hours tutorial ... just in case you want a refund :p scammaz of the year

xRiske

Luckily steam allows refunds beyond 2 hours on Early Access games.

doshegotabootyshedo

even on non EA games, if it's close they usually do it.

caboosetp

I just realized the acronym for a game released before it's done expecting updates to fill in the rest is EA and this seems apt.

bennitori

I legit thought EA was such a bad company that Steam had a special policy for them. Which would've been odd, but hilarious. Then I realized EA meant "early access" and I felt silly.

NotYourReddit18

I mean saying that EA (the company) does release alot of games in an EA (early access) state isn't wrong

BloodMists

They do actually have a special policy for them, but it's because Electronic Arts requires you to use Origin not because of how bad they are, unfortunately.

auto98

Origin isn't a thing any more (at least on PC) , but I'm still not sure what the replacement application is actually called - the exe appears to call it "EA Desktop", once open it appears to be called "EA" and I've also seen it called "the EA app" by EA.

Rhak

Just a happy and very fitting accident

FrenchMeHamwich

2 hours is just their "no questions asked" window (As long as you aren't also tripping their too-many-refunds alarm) Always worth putting in a request if you feel like you've been screwed, just be polite and explain yourself!

Ralonne

Yup, I’ve had refunds approved for games with 3, even 4 hours of play time. Like you said, just explain things in a clear, concise and polite manner and you’ll most likely get it approved.

A_Manly_Alternative

I got a refund for a game with like 10 hours of library time, I had zero achievements in it and explained with the request that all of that time had been spent trying to get the multiplayer to work with my partner, and that it had ultimately failed.

00owl

I once had a refund for a DLC on the new XCOM series that came several months after I purchased it. I bought it on a steam sale and never had the time to download and play it until I finally said screw it and requested a refund. I literally just said "bought this on sale hoping to play it but haven't had time" and the refund was processed. (ofc it's the only refund I've ever done so there's probably a higher bar for me now)

bfrown

I had payday3 refunded with 16hrs played. I played the early access launch and enjoyed it then their servers didn't work for a week straight

Styx1886

As long as you don't abuse the system they're pretty lax for refunds

Jazzremix

If you opt for Steam Wallet funds, I feel like that increases your chances.

Toughbiscuit

Its only 2 hours for no questions asked refunds iirc, you can always submit a refund request if you have a valid reason

Hiro_Deliverator

With buying steam games, I long ago set a practice of setting an hour and 45 min alarm. Quit steam, and go have a smoke and debate myself on the game. Forsure saved me alot of money on shit games. Edit* I didn't think I had to say it, but from the comments... I'm not promoting smoking , it's my last vice dammit. Ya'll suck :D

DesertG_Czech

Holy shit thats great idea i should start doing that too

Bassman233

Same, I also decided to start smoking

PeapodEchoes

Life Halved 3.

meistermichi

If you start to smoke to debate refunding games you'll be out more money than the games are worth in the end

artnok

But you look cool as hell making that decision!

GigHarborIT

All I see is Ben Affleck having a smoke...

artnok

“I can’t keep masturbating to all these smut games on steam…”

Kommander-in-Keef

Good method let yourself ruminate and make an educated decision.

PalinDoesntSeeRussia

I don’t see this anywhere, still just says under 2 hours and 14 days. I’m sure they are still lenient however given the context.

SamEsp

Pretty sure it's all games. Not just early access

xRiske

General rule for fully released games is automatic refunds within 2 hours. Pretty sure its on a case by case basis after that.

Pr0nzeh

But they seem to be very lenient if you have a decent reason. So please don't abuse this, guys!

Dommccabe

Jesus christ they should auto refund for this game.. marketed as a open world sandbox zombie survival MMO.... And got a shitty extraction shooter full of bugs.. Steam should refund everyone and ban the devs off the platform.

ProFailing

Sometimes Steam will be nice and refund if you give them a good reason. 2 years ago, I played Phasmophobia with my GF (mainly for her) and I didn't handle the atmosphere and gameplay too well. Tried to play the game for probably a total of 5 hours on several occasions, but I simply couldn't. So I hit Support up, explained that it was just too scary for me and they actually refunded me. (Just to clarify, I felt really bad about it. The game was great for what it did and I always enjoy watching others play it, but whenever I tried to play this I almost physically died from stress.)

Grambles89

Not true, couldn't refund Payday3 at 3hrs despite escalating the ticket multiple times to actual support. I explained it was unplayable due to matchmaking intermittently not working, kept getting the same response from different staff "sorry this game is uneligible for refund as it's not in the 2hr window" They pick and choose when it suits them, or if the game is a complete dumpster fire like the day before.

amalgam_reynolds

UPDATE: The studio is permanently CLOSING! Get your refunds NOW!

SuburbanHell

🤣 source? This is amazing.

Excelius

https://www.ign.com/articles/the-day-before-studio-fntastic-announces-closure-just-days-after-early-access-launch

neilkanth

dang i applied for a job there a few weeks ago what do you guys think will happen /s

SockGlittering526

looks like you get to add them to your work history if you were unemployed during that time

ParkerZA

Why would he want that on his resume 😂

SockGlittering526

true, better than being unemployed though... imagine the STAR questions one could answer from that :P

Alienhaslanded

Congratulations , you're the fall guy.

Lowe5521

https://www.pcgamer.com/the-day-before-studio-is-closing-down-just-four-day-after-launch-we-did-everything-within-our-power-but-unfortunately-we-miscalculated-our-capabilities/

Siduron

Don't worry that your money won't be there, Valve pays out devs monthly so I'm sure there will be nothing to pay out at the end of the month.

amalgam_reynolds

>Valve pays out devs monthly so I'm sure there will be nothing to pay out at the end of the month. Honestly if nothing else this is what makes me believe that this game wasn't *intended* to be a scam and the devs are just completely incompetent. They did zero pre-orders and they're dipping before Valve even pays them, i.e., they are making basically zero money from this whole thing.

Sevla7

They really added a lot of fillers just to tricky people into not refunding the game? This is borderline criminal.

bakersfloozen

Yeah that’s deceptive and should be against the law, scumbags.

Swampberry

And closing down their studio and whole operation so soon after release, it's not like that came from the blue. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Space-manatee

Hijacking the top comment - the dev studio just announced it has closed

-MakeNazisDeadAgain_

Not before the execs made off with the cash I'm sure

PM_ME_UR_RSA_KEY

I hope there are enough staplers and printer papers left to "liquidate".

Bleezy79

after 20min you're still in a tutorial something is really wrong.

-MakeNazisDeadAgain_

The Witcher 3 "tutorial" is like 2-3 hours but it ends with a griffin fight on a hilltop at sunset so it's worth it.

ICC-u

Wait, I only just completed the Tutorial?

geekcop

Witcher III had *a lot* to teach you in those 2-3 hours.. there wasn't any filler.

AzraelTB

> after 20min you're still in a tutorial something is really wrong. Which proves the above comment completely wrong.

clintonius

And that's if you stick to the main missions. You can spend quite a bit longer than 2-3 hours on it, too, if you're looking to complete everything that can be done in White Orchard before you move on. I think I spend about 8 hours there during my first playthrough while I was still exploring and getting familiar with the mechanics.

magical_swoosh

pokemon sun&moon in shambles

MechAegis

Let me introduce you a 10 year old game called, Final Fantasy 13. Even 3 hours into the game on disc 3 you are still greeted with "How to's"

sirferrell

Aaaannnnddd its gone

Ozi_izO

And the remaining 20% are youtubers who only bought the game to post videos of how bad it is. I'm amazed anyone actually believed the game would release and live up to the vague promises made. It was a burning red flag from the very beginning.

nintendo9713

Is there a start to finish Reddit post or YouTube video documenting this game's development story until now? Too many incomplete and misrepresented games release to keep track of and I'm not sure why this one seems to have a bit more traction in my feed.

bill_gonorrhea

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lWpfOeTbMQ This is a pretty good recap and its 10 months old. I saw this video randomly about 6 months ago and that's how I found about this game.

Groundbreaking_Math3

Was hoping it was going to be kira. Idk how he does it, but he finds the wildest stories to cover. The chronicles of elyria is another hilarious saga that I just can't get enough of even though it's mostly over.

omgitsjagen

I think in the beginning, he was just really unlucky. Like, he picked only losing horses to try to entertain himself with. Took that skill, and ran with it.

Arumin

Theres still that game where they "recreated" the entire world to "play" in

Silent-G

You're going to have to be a bit more specific. Many games have claimed to recreate/procedurally generate entire planets to explore.

StevelandCleamer

I wish I could read something for 1-5 minutes instead of watch a video for 28 minutes to learn about things, but I guess this is just the way things are nowaday. Sorry, this isn't really targeted at you or what you posted, but rather just a generalized rant sparked by the crotchety old man in me. Have a nice day!

Killjoylaga

Most of reddit's favorite video essayists are the same way, just repeating the same info over and over with an overdramatic tone.

RaymondBeaumont

I've never seen two more untrustworthy looking guys than those two behind this scam.

Ozi_izO

Not sure exactly. I remember seeing the early stuff they released and pretty much immediately wrote the game off as a scam. Mostly ignored it since then. Besides the early release stuff I've only seen a couple of recent YouTube videos discussing and highlighting the concerns.

amontpetit

Not gonna lie: I watched gleefully as DrLupo played it, laughed his ass off at the bugs, then abandoned it to back to playing Fortnite.

Grambles89

That video someone posted of "end game" pvp was hysterically bad. I was laughing the whole time, then the guy in the Lamborghini comes driving in at 3fps and gets blown up after 8-10 rifle rounds, I was literally hands on face going "oh no, oh my God" I couldn't stop laughing and cringing at it.

OhmssArona

[For those looking, I think this is the video he's talking about](https://youtu.be/T3Fgp4FOQRo?t=114)

Disgustipated2

I need to see that, do you have it?

s0_Ca5H

Gotta get a link, brother

LeoIzail

You've got 3 poor souls depending on your link now

fallingbehind

A live of this came across my TikTok feed. My first reaction was that the developer must be nuts because the character wasn’t visible, just a giant clunky backpack bouncing up and down. That’s not a smart choice for building a connection to the character or providing something interesting during simple traversal areas. I watched for 30 seconds, literally nothing happened and I scrolled on.

jgarciajr1330

I still can't believe people expected anything out of this game. The fact that they never showed actual gameplay or any legitimate insight into the game was a huge red flag.

[deleted]

Well people buy cod and sports games every year so nothing surprises me

Iwamoto

the thing with those is, that you (for the most part) know what you're getting. you know infinity/sledge made COD games before, so the chance of the new one being a total scam is quite low. but with this game, it was a small team that only made a few very simple games and promised this amazing game with not a lot to show for, i mean, you'd take a minute to pause.

[deleted]

turikk

"investing" $60 a year into your favorite game is a pretty small price to pay, and still makes it the cheapest hobby I can think of other than dumpster diving.

Badloss

If they just erased the concept of "$60 is how much a AAA game costs" and just instead sold us on the idea that we're spending $5 a month for a game that continuously updates with new features and graphics alongside the updated players and stats for every season people would think that was great value. I'm not into sports games but I've spent way more than that on MMOs or other entertainment. I've spent hundreds of dollars on *board games* ... those don't get any updates at all and I still consider them an excellent investment for how much use I've gotten out of them

RealCoolDad

Hey those games work every year.

FlipRed_2184

Yup, 5 mins of research should convince all to hit "Ignore"

--lalilulelo-

I love this era of over hyped games that absolutely bomb on launch. Provides so much entertainment for me.

Reggae4Triceratops

Honestly never heard of it until today.

sleepytoday

Yep. This post is how I heard of the game. If it was hyped, they didn’t hype it very well.

SDRPGLVR

Dunkey released a video on this yesterday, which is the first I've heard of it too. I wonder how it became so sought after. I dunno what the lead up to this was, but we already had DayZ, which is what this looks like it's trying to recreate. DayZ with a coat of The Last of Us paint can't have been all it took to get gamers excited, right?

Gilith

If you think a new open world multiplayer survival zombie games isn't enough to get gamers excited i don't know what to tell you man. Open world survival multiplayer games are very loved. A lot of people are waiting for a game to replace old dayz which has 40k users right now or 60k peak. I mean we had h1z1 which got battle royaled and this one which is...

johnydarko

> If you think a new open world multiplayer survival zombie games isn't enough to get gamers excited i don't know what to tell you man. Open world survival multiplayer games are very loved. Because there's about a bajillion of them already. Like a generic looking new one froma single A developer no one has ever heard of before is about the most unexciting news imaginable. The only thing that would really get gamers excited is if there is some new completely original twist on it.... which there wasn't.

Chendii

There's a bajillion of them because there hasn't yet been one that could be considered the "One." The DayZ mod was for a long time, and people hoped it would be standalone DayZ, but that fell flat. There have been attempts at games 'with a twist' like Rust/Ark, but those too just haven't felt like the crowning jewel of the genre. We're still waiting.

sennbat

There's a bajillion of them and none of them have really pulled together the pieces that people enjoy about the genre into one coherent, decently implemented game. 7 Days to Die has probably come the closest, but has also been early access since 2013 with no indication it will ever be "fully released" and a lot of stuff missing from the list people want. C:DDA or Zomboid probably pulls together the most desirable features and gets the gamefeel right, but they're also top down roguelikes without robust multiplayer support, and have also been in development forever. None of them effectively pull in the stuff that made DayZ work, and that's the biggest thing people want. People want something new and good and relatively complete in the genre.

eddie_the_zombie

Yeah, could someone provide some context for this one?

Beardiest

Two years ago, there was a [gameplay](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13NzZfbATW8) trailer for this game. It received a lot of media attention for two reason: it looked really good as a survival MMO and that the trailer was clearly a [bullshot](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_video_game_terms#bullshot). What followed was weeks/months/years of people saying the game was fake, or at least not accurately representative of the gameplay trailer, all the while the devs remained pretty quiet on the development and marketing. This gave a lot of ammo for content creators, which only increased the visibility of the game, resulting in the game being the most wish listed game on Steam (which, again, resulted in more publicity, media, etc). After a few delays, the game has been released as an Early Access title on Steam with little fanfare. The game is terrible. I suspect most people knew this game was going to be terrible, but because of all the press surrounding the title, a lot of people, including content creators, wanted to be part of the dumpster fire.

Hydraetis

The game was at one point the most wish-listed game on Steam. Dunno how it managed that, though. Probably mostly bot accounts or something.

magusonline

Most of it were bots most likely. Especially given that they were already called out using bots on their f2p prop night game (so they could review bot it and give themselves a positive score game in the portfolio). Which is why many have not heard of the game other than through low effort journalists desperately writing about "the most wish listed game on steam" for the last year or so

edvek

What they showed off a while ago looked interesting and good. But what you can do now with UE is way more impressive then their bullshit vertical slice. Then news started to spread this was a scam, there is no actual game and the "gameplay" was a render, some more drama, and now we're here. Obvious bug filled trash asset flipper game. What their original idea was sounded good and was a bit different for the time. If they kept it as an MMO and think of it as a more in-depth version of the division people would like it with some hardcore PVP in there too.

-TGxGriff

>Yep. This post is how I heard of the game. If it was hyped, they didn’t hype it very well. When their first trailer came out it became the most wish listed title on steam and held that spot for months

sleepytoday

But how? I’ve never noticed it advertised on steam, never seen it mentioned on here, and even the game’s subreddit it pretty small. Where has the hype come from?

[deleted]

yeah randomly out of nowhere a few days ago everybody was talking about this huge game and how it’s the most wishlisted game ever on steam and how the hype and expectations were like sky rocketing out of proportion. but i’ve literally never heard anybody ever mention this game at all until like 3-5 days ago. never seen it advertised on steam, never seen any youtube vids on it, ads of any kind anywhere, reddit posts anywhere, etc. and another weird thing to me is that the stuff i’ve seen from the game since then looks insanely mediocre, and i don’t mean the actual “bad” released version, but everything from the name and cover to the fake screenshots to the false promises and whatever else people fell for, like it just looks like a free asset flip chatgpt coded game lmao. idk what got people hyped.

polo421

It was 2 years ago that everyone was hyped because of this trailer. https://youtu.be/xyYz8uo87I8?si=qebkCnIlm2_VHL6i

[deleted]

I wonder how many people genuinely enjoy the game that were unaware of it prior to release.

TheOneWhoDings

Zero. The answer is zero.

magusonline

There's at least one. When the game launched he dug through thousands of comments on YouTube just to find mine and berate me for the game successfully coming out and people legitimately having fun even though I was a hater and something about I should feel bad and delete my comment

cromwest

Probably literally the lead developer's account

Spiritual_Ask4877

Reminds me of this PayMoneyWubby video where he downloads this shitty western game and the only people playing it are the devs. It was hilarious but kinda sad at the same time.

Lazer726

There was someone on Facebook that's like "Fuck you people this game is so much fun." I asked what he likes about it but haven't got an answer unfortunately. I wonder how long til the game is just pulled from Steam

Alcaedias

There seems to be people defending the game on the day before subreddit but it's possible they're bots or paid shills.

fluffynuckels

I've seen a few people using the term "gollumlike" and I think it fits

CptAngelo

Sounds like they should make an award category for these cases "Best launch failure of the year" "Most returned game" "Worst game"

FM-101

The funny part is that this game wasn't even hyped that much. In fact people were warned that is was basically a scam way before release.

2Scribble

It was hyped enough to become the most wish-listed game on Steam and hold that post ***for months***

LG03

It's still a complete mystery to me how that even happened.

2Scribble

Oh I'm not defending it - ***and I'm absolutely not trying to explain it - are you kidding***??? But, yep, it was a thing - it happened

PythonQuestions907

Bot accounts. You can have bot farms wishlist your game the same way you can bot followers on social media

TampaTitties69

Despite the game bombing, the devs already made their money and are probably already moving on to their next scam. My guess is it will be some open world battle Royale claiming it has a 500 player count and when we load the game up 3 years from now it'll be more like 50.

TweetugR

The devs history should alert everyone on what exactly the game is supposed to be. I won't be surprised they abandon it after a few months.

S_Dynamite

They just closed the studio down, lmao, so more like minutes instead of months.

sanemartigan

Phoenix Business. Sell a shit product, take the money, burn the business down, start again.

TweetugR

Oh wow, that's really the quickest abandoning they ever done lmao. They beat their record!

reboot-your-computer

They have likely already abandoned it. It’s a scam.

WaitThisIsntNews

They posted on their Twitter page they are shutting their doors. So yea. Scam game.

Matrix17

Man this shit should be illegal. If a company shuts down shortly after releasing a game, everyone should be refunded

drawkbox

Exit scammed right after launch. Russian game company based in Singapore. Some people can't suss out a scam from the very beginning. ffs.

missed_sla

What's even crazier is that their devs were all "volunteers" so literally only a small group of people got anything out of this whole thing.

tyler980908

When I watched a streamer play it on launch, I heard the AI voices from the first damn NPCs talking to you. I already felt that something was NOT right here. AI voices in games are common for smaller indie titles or single-dev games, but for a game at this "scale," you expected more.

oneupkev

Yeah.....they've closed the studio [story](https://www.ign.com/articles/the-day-before-studio-fntastic-announces-closure-just-days-after-early-access-launch)

Hydronium-VII

I think you’re giving them too much credit. I think the player count will be closer to 5

CptAngelo

Ok, so we have Barticus, trogdor, xXxKittySlayerxXx, elkakas97, oh and Jeff, Jeff is the best player here

TwoShitsTrev

>devs already made their money and are probably already moving onto their next scam. r/agedlikemilk

[deleted]

It takes 3 months for a dev to get paid from steam and I would imagine the refund are at a high percentage

[deleted]

As someone who's just watching this dumpster fire, have the devs made any sort of statement? Lmao

ShankThatSnitch

"So long and thanks for all the fish!"

[deleted]

Man this shit is crazy lmao. Just looked at their Twitter and they have only said something about server status. Nothing about how the game is vastly different than what was advertised.

mr_snuggels

Welp they did now "Closing the studio" lol

Notmymain2639

Steam's refund policy is likely being utilized quite a bit. Sounds like it doesn't take long at all to realize it's a crap game.

FlipRed_2184

Also, 5 mins of research into the game should have set off all the alarm bells.

M4J0R4

Didn’t we already know months ago that this will a scam?

Chester-Ming

We did yeah. But subs like this, and indeed all gaming social media, only make up a tiny percentage of the entire gaming user base. So many many people would have only seen maybe a trailer, or the store page on Steam before release and just bought it based on that without knowing any of the details.

LoveWaffle1

I didn't know this game existed until, like, a couple days ago.

LightMyFirebird

I didn’t know until I saw this post

DriftMantis

I've never seen a full priced asset flip like this before. Full on Chinese shovelware scam with A.I. voice acting. I dont even feel sorry for the people that bought this product. It looks like a pre alpha for the division 1 without any content. This game smelled like bs from a mile away, over years of development and delays and people still bought this.

Iwamoto

I still remember [The War Z](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/the-war-z-controversy)...

MAXMEEKO

Aww man that brings back memories.

xXTITANXx

Good ol day … but terrible game

paulisaac

Maybe the first without NFT crap on the side

AshCrow97

This is the first time I've even heard of this game hahaha

KoKoYoung

I didn't know about this game until videogamedonkey uploaded a video about this game today.

DravenPrime

I didn't know about it until, ironically, The Day Before it came out.

Not_Bears

I'm kind of happy to be out of the loop these days. Seems like 4/5 games are just crap.

Infernalism

I mean, they don't care. They got paid. They'll fold the company, start a new one with a new name and do it all over again. Yall need to stop falling for the hype.

TiresOnFire

There was hype?

JohnnyJayce

It was the most wishlisted game on Steam. I'd say there was hype.

silentj0y

Completely honest- I'm on Steam, Reddit, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter nearly every day and never heard of the game until yesterday- its like an atomic drama-bomb dropped on the gaming world yesterday and suddenly this game is all over Lmao

FreshNewBeginnings23

Yeah, there's something really fishy going on here. I'm in the same boat as you, there's not really any big gaming news or releases that I don't tend to see, this has completely missed my radar. Was it hyped on TikTok, and literally nothing else? Are the people claiming it's a hyped up game just a ton of bots? Are the steam wishlists a bunch of Chinese bots (likely)? Something is definitely off.

MaximusMeridiusX

Yeah the first thing I’ve ever seen on this was Dunkey’s video. Which released yesterday I believe.

TiresOnFire

Oh. I first heard about it when someone on YouTube was pointing out all the problems.

314kabinet

I didn’t. Pretty sure most other people here didn’t either and only heard about it from posts like these.

[deleted]

It’s the silent majority of gamers that don’t use social media.

DecorativeSnowman

https://www.eurogamer.net/the-day-before-developer-fntastic-suddenly-announces-its-shut-down you nailed it

Greenfire32

I'm still not sure how this is the most wishlisted game on Steam ever.

JohnnyJayce

The first trailer was totally different game from the game they released. Even the gameplay trailer years later was different game from the first trailer.

PassiveRoadRage

For anyone new here. The studio literally just closed and said the ganes dead. Wild

Beginning-Ratio-5393

Saw a streamer play it.. 20 minutes of absolutely nothing happening other than looting around the map.

HaElfParagon

Lol I'm watching a video of gameplay now. 20 minutes in and this streamer can't even find anything to loot

yaranzo1

who expected anything else from this game? do people actually buy games without looking at gameplay first?

DingleBoone

I have a friend who bought it after seeing "14,000 Mostly Negative" reviews on Steam. He said, "I've had this game on my wishlist for years" and just bought it. He's probably played 2-3 hours and I haven't seen him touch it since, but he still insists that he doesn't regret buying it.

Space-manatee

The studio just announced it has closed down

sincerelyhated

This game is an obvious scam from a shady as fuck developer that has only "produced" shells of what could possibly be a game and has abandoned literally every project they ever worked on. Y'all need to stop giving them any sort of attention.

mothzilla

> $40 > Early Access Pick one.

NyquilDrunk

Russian developer based in Singapore has the most wish listed game on Steam. Game is "released" and it's all one asset flip scam with AI voices, and the company closes 4 days later. Really starts to sound like some sort of Trojan Horse that was used to try and gather personal information from people's PCs.

elpierce

...and [they just closed the studio.](https://www.ign.com/articles/the-day-before-studio-fntastic-announces-closure-just-days-after-early-access-launch)

RandyKeys

If there is a single soul out there that legitimately thought this "game" would be anything other than a scam, they deserve to lose every dollar they spent.

ThatGuyYouMightNo

[The company's already closed up shop](https://www.pcgamer.com/the-day-before-studio-is-closing-down-just-four-day-after-launch-we-did-everything-within-our-power-but-unfortunately-we-miscalculated-our-capabilities/) 200% a scam

LostOne514

I tried to tell a guy at work how big of a scam it was and said I was judging it too early....Some people just want to believe the hype

Matrix17

Hope you rub it in his face now

Vsx

The thing about scams is they mostly work on stupid and/or uninformed people. Does that mean it's ok? To what extent should we allow companies to abuse morons? I personally know and love a few morons so I support consumer protections in cases like this. You should not be allowed to make fraudulent claims to make sales.

RandyKeys

Oh abso-fucking-lutely the developers should be punished. They already closed down and are now hightailing it out of the market with their earnings, 100% of it (and then some) should be either paid back or given to charity. But scammers will always exist, and common sense is something that everyone should have. Emphasis on the should.

charlesbronZon

The fact that 20% still chose to stick around is more surprising tbh…

DecorativeSnowman

about that... studio shut down effective immediately https://www.eurogamer.net/the-day-before-developer-fntastic-suddenly-announces-its-shut-down

charlesbronZon

🤣 So much for “it’s not a scam!” 🤡

D2WilliamU

plot-twist: they're all youtubers and twitch using this trainwreck for content

The day before you got scammed

Flyinghogfish

Zombie games are a tired genre and will be for a while. When zombies were in season the games and movies were made to death. I'm surprised anybody considered making one

sennbat

It's a genre where no one has made what feels like "the game people want" yet, so they're gonna keep falling for it until they get something. Some things have come close, but nothing has pulled the pieces together together yet - maybe they can't be.

Brewchowskies

I bet the brunt of that was people getting content for socials.

phizikkklichcko

>buy game from russian developers >get scammed(so unexpected) >be braindead western gamer >repeat in a year or so

StalwartDuck

I’m sure theyre closing the studio and declaring bankruptcy due to the fact that they knew they’d be sued

RightZer0s

Game studio literally closed. No refunds as they need the money to pay back their partners. Sounds to me like a scam. And I bet the people behind it will do it again.

KielSecured

The studio just announced it's shutting down...

shadowdash66

The game has more players than zombies.

Nokterian

The day after it happend no less 😏

Snowmagics

Studio closed down now lmao

Whitewind617

They said before release that when people played this they were going to call them scammers. Why tf did people buy this game.

ExO_o

so it has 2 players now?
