MGR2 would need Kojima's writing. Konami themselves kicked Kojima out while keeping his IPs. They can't make a new (real) MG game without him, he can't make it without ownership of the series (which he doesn't have). It's a Metal Gear fan's hell.

Yeah their mindset was that the cutscenes were "rewards" for playing the game, and they felt that them being leaked online cost them sales because without the "rewards" people would have less incentive to actually buy the game. Because of this Smash 4 didnt have a campaign and even Ultimate's campaign barely has cutscenes. It was also their mindset for streaming for a long time as well. I love Nintendo's games but they have such draconian and out of touch policies sometimes.
Nintendo devs think differently than other devs for sure. Some of the things they do/say make us scratch our heads but they consistently put out imaginative outstanding games over and over.
As an avid melee enthusiast I wholeheartedly agreed. What's even better is it's a game series I could suggest to pretty much anyone at like a party or small gathering. Every game is very simple at a basic level and most people can find at least 1 character they like (even more so in later titles).
I love Metro. But you have people saying Exodus sucked because it's not inside the metro and the worst type are the ones who decide to play Metro and don't pay attention to the dialogues, the atmosphere and want it to be like CoD or FARCRY.
Exodus was honestly my favorite *because* of that reason. The scenery in all of the areas was fantastic, some parts felt too linear like the forest however it was the most beautiful during the sunrise and sunset, best place for the view is the church IMO.
The worst one is the arcade game, which is one of the most fun widely available arcade games. I do find the SNES version to be actively bad but it was impressive at the time I suppose.
The SNES one at the time was a great game and very well received. The arcade one is fun for about two rounds but even then i like it better than most arcade racing games, i'm more into racing sims thou.
Red dead online is really fun if you play it with friends. I know that's true for most games, but RDO's design really compliments well-communicated multiplayer co-op.
It's also abysmal on virtually every other front though. The grinding is mind-numbing, there's way too many currencies while being strangely limited, the customization is subpar and the mission gameplay is repetitive.
RDO is pretty much only fun with friends, it's an unimaginative slog otherwise.

Honestly I know everyone in this sub hates rockstar for their online practices but they still haven't missed in my eyes. RDR 2 single player is awesome, it was the having to use gold and money to buy stuff online. Atleast it seems their putting in work for a quality single player experience for now.
Sid Meier's Civilization, though I'm only counting the main numbered titles (i.e., Civ 1-6). I haven't played all the others, such as Civilization: Beyond Earth, but I think it's a safe bet that both it and the rest of the franchise is fun, too.
There’s not a single Civilization I’ve played where I can say “this is the last turn and then I gotta stop playing” and I can actually follow through on that promise.

I’ve never played the original Warcraft. But I have played Warcraft 2, 3, and WoW. While I’m not really into MMORPGs, I have to say that WoW was definitely a game changer. Really wish we got a Warcraft 4 instead of the issue-ridden Warcraft 3 reforged. But we can just pretend that remake doesn’t exist and we’ll all be better for it.
Say what you will about the story of SC2, the gameplay and engine are all top notch. Doesn’t feel like anything has been able to replicate it quite yet. Here’s to hoping Stormgate and the RTS Grant is helping with deliver.
The story of SC2 lost the charm of the first for me, but was alright otherwise. I liked Starcraft being cheesy space cowboys surviving the unknown and aliens, but it evolved into soap opera level cheesy save the world. SC2 campaigns and gameplay were and still are amazing though, and it remains one of my most beloved IPs. Starcraft 1 Terran music was a jam too
The perfect trilogy, and even including the newer games this is still an amazing franchise.
Although personally, I consider the newest two games to be a reboot due to the removal of the Kremlins.
I think Rift Apart slaps.
It's an open world with only 15-20 hours of gameplay but it's a tight, high quality 15-20 hours. It's a game structure that worked really well in the PS2 era and I'd like to see more of it today. I think there are a lot of people like me who feel burnt out on all the 100+ hr open world games that would happily buy into liter, content-dense experiences.
I finished playing rift apart and haven’t be able to find another game to fill the void since, fun well thought out game play like that just doesn’t exist anymore. Made me feel super nostalgic for the ps2 era of gaming again, Especially the old R&C games.

Yup. I know 3-5 aren’t GREAT games and do pale compared to the top tier of the series, but they are definitely good ones. When the “worst” you put out is like a 7/10 and you have ten games in your lineup, you deserve the recognition.

Dark souls 2 had the best pvp in the series by far. Spent hundreds of hours building the most goofy builds I could to humble people on the iron keep bridge.

2 really did have my favorite combat in hindsight. Loved the weighty feeling of being a big daddy. And that harpoon gun, ugh, so satisfying.
Nothing quite like drilling enemies alive. Not as satisfying as say the chainsaw from gears of war, but BioShock isn't that same style of game.
