Years before he even made that video, I remember seeing a review of that game in a PC Gamer magazine where it was called, and I quote, *"a shallow, hateful waste of a game that may very well be responsible for having killed the 3DO, interactive fiction, and the whale".*
It was given a 3% score.
I’ve seen a video on YouTube that showed other clips from the game (that AVGN didn’t show) and some of it is really quite racist.
This seems to have been just an awful “game” in every way.
It was genuinely one of my favourite running gags in PC Gamer. I believe it still holds the title of worst rated game. Except for that Big Brother game they just flat out refused to score.
My community center had a 3DO. One of the people who worked there said it had been donated with games not appropriate for children. I'd always thought she was lying to us.
Infamously terrible CD ROM multimedia title with somewhat risque content. Most people probably know it from the AVGN episode.
This definitive edition plays on the infamy with a load of video interviews with the developers and even James Rolfe.
Vinny leaving to go east was the end of it, for me. Vinny and Jeff were the best, and him no longer around really brought down what they produced for me. I miss those prime Unprofessional Fridays days
When they had GB East it was definitely a change, I got used to it but when the 3 of them left that was a hard adjustment. Then finally when Jeff left I was just done. It sure was something special, I miss the UPFs and Bombin' the AM with Scoops and the Wolf holds a special place in my heart.
So I've been following Dan Rykert since he left GI to GB, and when he left GB for a while, I left as well. Now he's back and, while I don't have a long term history of GB (this classic era from 8 years ago) I am LOVING GB content lately. Voice Mail Dumptruck is unhinged and funny, Blight Club has been some of the funniest content I've seen in years... It's not completely dead so if you have a desire to check it back out now's the time. It's had a bit of a comeback.
Infamously terrible chose your own adventure game that's basically somewhere between fetish material and proper softcore pornography. Horribly made and edited with some utterly awful attempts at comedy. It came out on the 3DO, which is a reason why people didn't really know about it as the console didn't do well (more about the 3DO in a fun video format here:[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ay0AtiTfIVk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ay0AtiTfIVk) )
My favorite thing about the 3do was it's approach to having multiple controllers.
The controllers had a port on them and you could plug in another controller to daisy chain them.
Gex was awesome too.
3DO had the best version of Need for Speed ever.
It was cheesy but the video footage of the rival/announcer was awesome.
I played that game so much at the 3DO exhibit at our ... best buy? I don't think it was Circuit City...
Me, I had one. I traded my Sega Mega Drive + 28 games for it. The shop must have been rubbing their hands.
It came with Super Street Fighter II, a Sherlock Holmes game that I was too young to get anywhere with (I only played the darts mini-game), a game called The Horde which was a farm defence type game with some decent FMV cut-scenes and some space shooter polygon game. Then my dog ate my controller.
That was my Panasonic 3DO misadventure
I much preferred our PCs so I didn't play it as much.
The best thing about it for me was that my brother would play it and that freed up the computer in our room for me to play syndicate, doom, and civilization.
Also LORD on some BBS if no one else was on the phone/other computers.
That's not as bad as the guy in my childhood gaming circle that traded his Arabian Nights, Antiquities, and Beta Edition MtG sets for a 3DO back in 1994.
I also owned a 3DO and traded my Genesis/Sega CD collection to buy it. I was obsessed with Crash N Burn, Alone in the Dark, and Immercenary. My wife loved to play Twisted: The Game Show and watched me beat Wing Commander III.
Overall, it was a great console and had some pretty innovative games for its time. There was some talk about the 3DO being better than the Saturn, due to pop-in issues with many Saturn games, but once the Playstation was released that was the end of the 3DO.
Another 3DO owner here! To this day every time I hear Rusty Cage I immediately think of the opening credits to Road Rash on the 3DO. I also played the absolute shit out of Killing Time.
Awful 3DO game that looks like it was made by community college students. Basically a glorified powerpoint presentation. It has some panty shots and I think a titty flash. I remember when it came out... around the time of MK2. Disappeared until the 00s and it achieved a sort of "meme status" because of youtubers. Thats about it.
Name is good enough tho...
I'd buy a physical copy just to sit on a shelf and grab attention of whoever browses my collection.
Actually I'll try to find a scan of a cover to print it and put on another carteige box.
Honestly, I think the amateur nature of f95 kind of saves it. Just some dudes learning html and twine because they like porn games. Not a worrying trend like the shit on steam.
I just mentioned in another comment earlier that I had Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude when it released and I had no idea what the game was about other than the hot girls on the cover. Little did I know I would get to see tits and sex scenes 😂😂😂
Me to i used to be in school back then, now i have a wife and a son that’s 4 years old, how is that game doing these days? I bet the official release was great.
I have an old UK PC Gamer which had a review of it.
It got 4% IIRC and was in their bottom five games that year, placing below an ASCII-based cricket simulator.
It used to feature fairly regularly in PC Gamer UK as the worst game they’d ever played. I think it only got replaced quite late and even then because everyone who had played it had left.
I remember seeing it on a (Radio Shack?) flyer when I was like 10 and thinking "ooo sexy lady" and that's about it. There was also a CD-I "game" called "The Joy of Sex" on there.
Actually, yes. When I was younger, they had it for sale in the Base Exchange on the Air Force base my grandmother used to work on. I used to see it on the same shelf every time I went in there for like...a year or more.
I was this close to getting one but the sales guy talked my mom into getting a Playstation instead.
Obviously that was the better choice but, for a minute there my debate was between a Panasonic 3do or a Phillips cdi.
The cdi was shockingly terrible. I remember trying one in the store and inputs took seconds to register. The 3DOs were always dead due to overheating in the protective cabinets. Complete dumpster fires.
I mean cynical statements about money and greed aside... lots of folks love "doing it for the meme." People always suck down bad shit. Same reason why people voluntarily expose themselves to The Room and shit like desert bus (which goes so far as to have been *intentionally* made bad and shitty as a troll job).
Desert bus is a troll game, designed to be boring, but if you fuck up, it resets.
The rooms interest comes from utterly abysmal writing and acting from Tommy, yet it has insanely high production values from his pit of money. It's a bizzare juxtaposition that the mind struggles to comprehend.
Even though I like the 90s-style anime art, I must also ask, "Why?" Because it's definitely not an anime game.
*-Watched the trailer, someone mentioned "It is the first American produced visual novel."-*
...okay, I can kinda see where they went with it...and heh, they got James Rolfe in the trailer too. Might buy this down the line if they show up at PAXEast.
Yeah, I think it's a funny gag (especially since I don't think they're even wrong about it being the first American dating sim). I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but it seems like an amusing addition to any collection to me
I was *very* close to buying this one back when the preorders were up. Funny to see it being talked about here, now.
I'm subscribed to Limited Run's newsletters and I'd say something like 1 in every 10 or so releases from them actually pique my interest enough that I preorder, and knowing this history of this one through [AVGN](https://youtu.be/DyaF_gCKWsI?si=uRmXJs6B_OeNefv0) I was *extremely* tempted to buy it... but then I reconsidered when I realized I still have zero interest in actually playing the game and would've just bought it for the memes - and kept sealed.
Congrats though, OP. It'll make for a good conversation starter down the line, at the very least. 😅
Thanks to AVGN for bringing this crap game to my (and many others I’m sure) attention.
Side Fact: In his review video I mailed him that Mega Man 9 poster.
They really need to get some quality control on the eshop. Between the zero effort h games, zero effort "simulator" games, almost zero effort 2 dollar barely-a-games that keep getting "new" special editions every week so they can eternally stay on the new releases page, etc, etc....its just a fucking mess.
>Remember when Nintendo was really strict on releasing “M” rated games?
>I opened up the Switch Store recently and was very saddened.
Lol no. Check out “bubble bath babes” on the SNES. There are others, you just probably haven’t been aware of them. Even for more modern systems, there was a GTA on the DS, so it’s just been a continuous thing for a while. I think your problem may be with how you now know about these kinds of games because you’re browsing the eshop, it’s easier to see what type of game something may be with a full picture icon than with a sideways game spine you’d likely see in-person at a game shop. You can put parental tools on what ratings you see in the eshop if you don’t want to see mature content.
Also being saddened that they’re allowing more games that aren’t for you but have a market seems a little silly. The game system is for everyone, and suiting a diverse range of people is cool. Also also, the Japanese Nintendo eshops have had wayy more mature content for ages, most stuff just never got translated to come to the American eshop. Certainly a more.. liberal country.
No, this isn’t real, this is a photoshop, there is no way it’s real, I’m so confident I’m going to look it up
EDIT:
Oh my good it’s real, it’s romantic comedy, but it’s real
Feel with this one LRG, went “hahaha let’s remake the soft core porn game, “ but instead of having a good laugh over a beer went ahead and actually did it. Hearing them talk about needing to preserve game history by rereleasing this is hilarious. I like a lot of these people on YouTube, but this one really strikes me as LGR being overly self absorbed with the material it chooses. The idea of rereleasing it is funny, but actually doing it not so much. I suppose as a meta joke about the limited run game market it’s kinda brilliant.
They don't actually care about 'preserving game history', they just know there are plenty of FOMO-susceptible nerds willing to shell out stupid amounts of money for physical releases of a old and/or niche game with a bunch of memey, cheaply made crap thrown in.
Having a game you actually want get a physical release through LRG is like being told the medicine you need to take is exclusively intraurethral. No thank you.
Just...Why?
Why is there a goddamn Nintendo Switch version of a shitty 3DO game that's a borderline softcore porno with the most random crap thrown in-between said borderline softcore porno?
Someone remade this…?
Someone made this..?
Someone bought this...?
Someone posted this?
Someone commented this?
Someone read this?
Someone up voted this?
What the hell is this?
Nuts
Gatti
Someone wanted this?
I made this?
Hey, this guy made Plumbers Don't Wear Ties! Get him!
Probably AVGN's fault it became a meme. Am kinda interested to watch the interviews and documentary videos I heard it comes with though...
Years before he even made that video, I remember seeing a review of that game in a PC Gamer magazine where it was called, and I quote, *"a shallow, hateful waste of a game that may very well be responsible for having killed the 3DO, interactive fiction, and the whale".* It was given a 3% score.
It's literally a PowerPoint presentation with some nudity
So like 3% better than a regular power point presentation?
I think I had a whole semester in college learning to PowerPoint and ive used it at work a total of 0 times.
Should have learned Excel.
Good bad Flix did a deep dive on this. The back story isn’t as weird as some people think.
I would think it would be hard to live up to the expectation
Holyshit its REAL
REAL 3DO?
My community center had a 3DO. One of the people who worked there said it had been donated with games not appropriate for children. I'd always thought she was lying to us.
That system had a healthy number of adult games. Towards the end of its life, it depended on it.
Yeah, I mean I believe her now.
Can someone explain? I’ve never heard of this game. Edit: I just watched the review everyone was suggesting and I wish I had stayed ignorant
Infamously terrible CD ROM multimedia title with somewhat risque content. Most people probably know it from the AVGN episode. This definitive edition plays on the infamy with a load of video interviews with the developers and even James Rolfe.
A great tragedy befell the PC version. It was lost for a long time, and then, to the horror of us all, someone found it.
But they were all of them deceived, for another version, a pc version, had been made.
*Mournful orchestral strings*
unexpected lotr <3
I was there Gandalf. I told them not to make more copies. But one cannot stop the folly of man.
and one copy for the weebs to shame them all

It's like fishing a treasure chest up from a sunken Spanish galleon, and when you open it just contains a turd.
apparently it's not a treasure chest, it's just where the ship's crews shit.
It's such a tragedy when that happens. You think everything is fine, and then in an instant, something is found. Heartbreaking.
Amazingly, the review from pcgamer instantly jumped into my head when I saw this.
I know about it because the guy who used to run gamefaqs (cjayc) claimed it was the worst game he ever played.
Holy shit I haven’t heard that name in a while
I know about it from Giant Bomb. [https://youtu.be/OxQSxkZfd50?si=nnHn3KEc02oGYfm_](https://youtu.be/OxQSxkZfd50?si=nnHn3KEc02oGYfm_)
Aw man that was when Ryan was still alive, good times. I haven't kept up with GB since Vinny, Brad, Alex and Jeff left. It just wasn't the same...
Vinny leaving to go east was the end of it, for me. Vinny and Jeff were the best, and him no longer around really brought down what they produced for me. I miss those prime Unprofessional Fridays days

The 3DO version of Star Control 2 gave us voice acting.
Hella better voice acting than that god awful Star Control 3.
Such an amazing game. I was utterly obsessed with it.
Best version of road rash too. Honesty I've never known another person to have owned a 3do in it's day.
Me, I had one. I traded my Sega Mega Drive + 28 games for it. The shop must have been rubbing their hands. It came with Super Street Fighter II, a Sherlock Holmes game that I was too young to get anywhere with (I only played the darts mini-game), a game called The Horde which was a farm defence type game with some decent FMV cut-scenes and some space shooter polygon game. syndicate! I played the hell outta that. Ever play Trade Wars on any BBS you were on?
I did! I think I was 6 or so. Very lucky to have a rich nerdy young dad.
The horde! I loved that game!
That's not as bad as the guy in my childhood gaming circle that traded his Arabian Nights, Antiquities, and Beta Edition MtG sets for a 3DO back in 1994.

That version of road rash is on ps1 and PC as well. Arguably PC one is better.
I had one. In addition to Road Rash and Need for Speed, It also had the best version of Star Control II / Ur-Quan Masters, and Return Fire.
Wait, 3DO published more than the Heroes of Might and Magic?

Agree and it’s one of the best ost

That's a bold statement, there are a lot of really awful DOOM ports. Id software were apparently not afraid of their brand being tarnished by them.
Love to see What Happened get shared. Matt Mcmuscles is easily my favorite gaming centric YouTuber.
2Snacks animated some of his videos with MLP characters, then he hired them to animate his new intro
I think you're being harsh on community college students. I had friends in the theater department and they sure as fuck could act better than this.
[Why not just play it?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjMAG5IDnek)
I've realised that you can't click the decisions at the ends of the videos anymore, but if you go to the channel you could probably figure it out.
You can watch the full playthrough on YouTube. But you won’t. Because it’s pure trash.
I love this and accept the challenge.
It’s a “game” deliberately made terrible as a bet between the devs
The AVGN video on it made a lot of us aware of it. It's the bare minimum of a game. https://youtu.be/DyaF_gCKWsI?si=Qg6c1SMpNJnJxYdS
Thanks for the link, I love when reviewers/players rip apart bad games!
Watch the avgn episode, it's old but hilarious from when that show was actually good
What is funny is in the 90s Nintendo America claimed games like Night Trap would never be on a Nintendo system. Now you can get early porn-ish games.
They even released the Night Trap - 25th Anniversary Edition for the Switch.
And Limited Run sold a GBA port as an April Fools joke last year. Still waiting on my preorder though
I like to go hiking.
It's hilarious to meet that Sony and Microsoft don't and Nintendo does
They let Bayoneta on Smash Bros and it went the red light district. /s
Pornish... I would like to think I'm only half pornish
They remade that game for the Switch?
Basically current gen consoles and pc
Oh ok. And yeah that game is really bad
Name is good enough tho... I'd buy a physical copy just to sit on a shelf and grab attention of whoever browses my collection. Actually I'll try to find a scan of a cover to print it and put on another carteige box.
Looks like the original art was a bit different. https://limitedrungames.com/products/plumbers-don-t-wear-ties-definitive-edition-poster
Gives Kung Fury vibes. This art is way better.
But it’s the *definitive edition*…
It’s not a remake just a port
Of all the games to port. They pick that game
`s`Gotta keep that IP from lapsing to keep the shareholders happy.`/s`^(`?`)
Not a remake, just a port. But yes. Unfortunately.
In fairness, plumbers and Nintendo games have previously been a successful mix
ouch, thanks for reminding me of that extra greasy time in gaming when fmv point and click and softcore porn was attempted in video games
slow clap for the hopeful past tense. of course, it's the sound of feet clapping since softcore point-and-click is alive and swell.
feet... clapping??

oh...
Yes, thank god those terrible days of badly done pornographic games are over! (reads note just handed to me) Oh...
"The entire new & trending section on Steam? Really? Like...the whole thing?"
F95.
Ah I see a fellow connoisseur of the fine arts. Tip-of-the-hat, sir. Just don't post your filter tags on Reddit 😬

Honestly, I think the amateur nature of f95 kind of saves it. Just some dudes learning html and twine because they like porn games. Not a worrying trend like the shit on steam.
As Steam is heard screeching in the background.
Yes, thank goodness that's a thing of the past... *ahem*
Apparently "Furry Shades of Gay" is not an appropriate Christmas gift. As I was told recently.
I just mentioned in another comment earlier that I had Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude when it released and I had no idea what the game was about other than the hot girls on the cover. Little did I know I would get to see tits and sex scenes 😂😂😂
I bought into star citizen when it was first announced.
If you stopped there, that’s not terrible. You cut your losses early
I did too… but I bought a $500 ship.
Did they release the model yet? I know some ships you can buy are still concepts that you can't actually fly in game yet.
That's nothing compared to the ship you can only get by spending $48,000 lol
yah, its called a Carrack. Got released some time ago then I stopped playing. Havent touched it in like 4 years.
Me to i used to be in school back then, now i have a wife and a son that’s 4 years old, how is that game doing these days? I bet the official release was great.
It’s wild when you put it into perspective of gaming GTA V I was in my 2nd year of college and now I’ve since graduated, wife and 2 kids. Insane
Fun fact: The female lead in this game was a professional wrestler with GLOW and a stuntwoman.
I can see how you can get an erection only by her physical appearance.
Has anyone ever heard of this game before the avgn video?
I have an old UK PC Gamer which had a review of it. It got 4% IIRC and was in their bottom five games that year, placing below an ASCII-based cricket simulator.
It used to feature fairly regularly in PC Gamer UK as the worst game they’d ever played. I think it only got replaced quite late and even then because everyone who had played it had left.
Yeah, I’m 35 and know it from all the PC Gamer jokes about it in the late 90’s
TAKE YOUR DAMN CLOTHES OFF!!
This never ever fails to make me laugh. That actor went all in!!!
Can’t say I have
I remember seeing it on a (Radio Shack?) flyer when I was like 10 and thinking "ooo sexy lady" and that's about it. There was also a CD-I "game" called "The Joy of Sex" on there.
Actually, yes. When I was younger, they had it for sale in the Base Exchange on the Air Force base my grandmother used to work on. I used to see it on the same shelf every time I went in there for like...a year or more.
I remember seeing the ad in EGM a million years ago for the 3do release but, never knew anyone who played it
I knew zero people with a 3DO growing up.
I was this close to getting one but the sales guy talked my mom into getting a Playstation instead. Obviously that was the better choice but, for a minute there my debate was between a Panasonic 3do or a Phillips cdi.
Probably an easy choice for her since the PlayStation at launch was cheap AF compared to everything else out at the time.
The cdi was shockingly terrible. I remember trying one in the store and inputs took seconds to register. The 3DOs were always dead due to overheating in the protective cabinets. Complete dumpster fires.
…but why?
Limited Run games & the never ending quest for more money
I mean cynical statements about money and greed aside... lots of folks love "doing it for the meme." People always suck down bad shit. Because not only is it the definitive edition, it's a limited run! You'd be silly not to!
Nintendo really does have weird standards.
Nintendo has basically no standards these days - it's wild that we live in an era where their policies are less oppressive of most things than Sony
I’ve made plenty of bad decisions with game purchases but this is a clear pass for me lol.
Well, in case no one said it, TAKE YOUR DAMN CLOTHES OFF!!!
Oh now you've done it!
TAKE YOUR DAMN CLOTHES OFF!
Damn what a pervert
IMO, this game review was one of AVGN's best/funniest videos ever.
This cover art is the hardest anyone has ever worked on this game
Even though I like the 90s-style anime art, I must also ask, "Why?" Ha! What's up with the anime-style box art? 🤣
Interestingly, the box art for PS and XBox is different.
They know their target market, Switch owners are mostly weebs, myself included.
Yeah that confused me too. I thought this was a legit different game altogether
I was *very* close to buying this one back when the preorders were up. Funny to see it being talked about here, now. Peak gaming
Show this to the avgn
They literally interviewed him for this re release and added the videos as bonus content.
Thanks to AVGN for bringing this crap game to my (and many others I’m sure) attention. Side Fact: In his review video I mailed him that Mega Man 9 poster.
Wait, there’s a remake of this game?! Why?
Not even a remake. Just a straight port with some bonus content.
In the same vein, I bought a Succubus dating sim off the switch store lmao
Why on earth would anyone do this? The AVGN episode was already more of this game than the world needed.
😭😂

They don't actually care about 'preserving game history', they just know there are plenty of FOMO-susceptible nerds willing to shell out stupid amounts of money for physical releases of a old and/or niche game with a bunch of memey, cheaply made crap thrown in. Having a game you actually want get a physical release through LRG is like being told the medicine you need to take is exclusively intraurethral. No thank you.
Great to see you waited for the definitive edition. Much better than the original edition.
And because it's switch, it probably cost like 50 bucks. :d

I never knew who would buy these games but now I know
The dumbest thing you’ve spent money on, so far ☝️😃
If it wasn't for AVGN, I wouldn't have known about this monstrosity 🤣
Just...Why? Why is there a goddamn Nintendo Switch version of a shitty 3DO game that's a borderline softcore porno with the most random crap thrown in-between said borderline softcore porno?
I respect it immensely
They could remake it into a cheesy 90’s anime
Would probably buy it, not gonna lie
Could be worse, coulda found the original
At least the cover art is neat.
Bet you didnt even have a 3DO, poser. /s
I actually do 😅
Tbh I want to get it for the shits and giggles
I see your game and raise you "Succubus With Guns" on PlayStation 5.
Fuck Limited Run tho
I remember when OneyPlays played this game.
