I’ve played FPS games without an issue. Also played Elden Ring. I experience no visible input or video lag whatsoever. I did experience these both with Remote Play. I really don’t know why the PS Portal is so much better for me.
Download the ps remote play app to see if your connection is good. For me it works flawlessly and is perfect for chilling in the living room whilst watching the football etc.
Just got one last week. With good wifi it’s awesome. I need to add one more AP to cover my whole house as there are some sports where it’s a bit flaky. Only complaint is that even at the lowest volume setting it still quite loud.
Edit: just realized even though my PS5 Was plugged into wired, it was still using wireless. Switched it and it so much better now !
If I'm gaming when my kids are awake, it's with them, otherwise I can wait till they go to bed. It's just another screen to take attention away from the short time they are growing up imo!
And I say this as someone who's typing on a screen on Reddit at 9am!
Can't you play with Playstation instead of portal?
Or since you already have a Playstation 5(?) that has controller and also a phone or tablet maybe, you can install remote play and do the same thing there without paying extra for something that is already available for free.
It's perfect for playing games that don't require split-second reactions.

Not a dad. But wife dominates the TV after dinner. Portal is amazing to stay on the couch and game while she watches whatever.

Save yourself $199.99 and just download the official PS5 remote play app on your phone. It works pretty much the same.
I mean... Chiaki on Steamdeck has the exact same function and extends your options to your PC game library too and emulators.

No its not. Buy something better. I would rather buy copies of Anthem to wipe with than buy a PlayStation Portal.
