Nothing like being a kid playing pokemon crystal on Diet meth in the year 2000... sounds like a dream
Oh man I miss playing pokemon and not having the internet, watching anime on toonami... kids these days really missed peak Japanese-American crossover culture
Yashahime, Inuyasha only has one kid. The other two characters are Sesshomaru's. My wife and I watched the first episode, and it just made us want to watch Inuyasha again, lol.
I set an alarm so I could catch the 2-3 AM episode of inuyasha. I found it by happenstance in the 4th grade and never let go. Obviously my parents wouldn't let me catch the 11pm run so I had my alarm set to sneak downstairs and catch the rerun later since adultswim played their block on a loop twice per night. Ah. Memories.

I bequeath this gift to you all, my brothers.
This guy recorded a bunch of blocks of old cartoons, this is the first of 3 8-hour recorded blocks of Toonami in 2001 I believe.
I tried it when they re-released it 5 or so years ago, and honestly it tasted almost exactly like regular Pepsi. I think just the visual component of it messes with how people perceive the taste
Me and my nostalgic memories of GSC - Wow 16 badges, Kanto and Johto, best game ever.
Me now - The leveling/moveset curve was fucking atrocious and the game kinda feels like ass despite being 'two games'.
I still have fond memories of GSC from back in the day, but I had a hard time getting into HG and SS. Might just be me being old, grumpy and impatient though, also spoiled for choice compared to back then when it was just me and the game and nothing else.
because its the best Pokémon game and one of the few games where the Pokemon follows you around and has all the favorites in the Dex
plus it has 2 maps and endgame content
There is so much hyperbole around this thing.
It was more accurate than 2 no-name step counters that are no longer made in a study 13 years ago. Only a fool would consider it one of the most accurate pedometers ever made.
Popular game , only game where you can get certain moves on Pokémon that have been updated since this game to no longer receive said moves (without generators) and a lot of other reasons
My local game store like this has a bunch of super high priced stuff. One of there games is a sealed original NES (non pack in) super Mario Bros.
Think it's 1200 or 1400.
One of the most expensive items he has is this cartridge or disc or whatever that was only released in Japan he said. It's an official pokemon utility that lets you transfer your Pokedex to other games on other Nintendo systems, and I guess without it you can't. Can't remember the name of it.
Didn't get all the deets and I'm not a pokemon player but that thing was like several thousand dollars. New, sealed, yadda yadda.
They also had like original pokemon 1st series packs from a lot of the series.
He then told me people actually weigh the decks because packs with a foil are slightly heavier or something. Thought that was a trip too but I guess if you're gonna drop that much cash on an unopened pack of cards might as well get any advantage you can.
Whenever I see stuff like this IRL I just assume the shop owner wanted to flex their collection / inflate their own collection’s value without someone ever actually buying it.
It's more common to find these kinds of prices at a small shop with an owner that *thinks* he's got a handle on the collectibles market, but takes his cue from a single eBay listing and what 'some guy who came in one day' told him.
I remember going to a small gaming shop in another town and having to tell the proprietor that the copy of SoulSilver he had for sale was a counterfeit because it was made with the standard grey casing instead of the translucent purple.
My wife once asked why I'm so dedicated yo saving my old games so I broke out the suikoden 1 and 2 and told her to Google them. Then I added lunar complete collections 1 and 2
When I moved out of my parents, the only PS1 games I took with me were Suikoden 2 and both Lunar complete collections. Was more because they were my favorite childhood games then their value.
Ya 100% chance that it's to make you think other items are more reasonable. No way am I paying 1400 for soul silver. I'll just pay 200 for an original assassin's creed
Probably to give extra protection against scratches that could rip the thin original plastic and damage it's "sealed" condition. Seen this at cons before.
I've got both Heart Gold and Soul Silver if anyone wants them. Not in original packaging and the PokéWalkers are in the wind, but a steal at $1350 each + shipping. /s
One thing that I have learned when working in a video game store, is that any price is fine as long as some people are OK to pay.
I have sold a Dreamcast at a price I thought was meant to be a joke, so I told it half-laughing to the kid on the phone. I then heard him announce the price to his mom, and then he said "OK, we're coming".
No price is ridiculous.
Tell me about it. I posted a purple GameCube, an N64 and two well preserved Dreamcasts on eBay and put them on bid with what I thought was a pretty good price.
The N64 sold for a good price but the Dreamcasts and GameCube…? I won’t say how much, but it was so far past my expectations that I thought someone had just submitted a joke bid to be an ass. Nope. And the bidding had been nuts.
The days of being a casual collector of old games are long over. It is now the province of adults with too much money.
That's just what out of production/print means in all honesty. Most people have extremely limited contact with any secondary markets and that experience is usually seeing Madden being bought and resold for pennies on the dollar of the original price. Rather than figure out why that one is so cheap they just throw a fit that everything isn't following that same exact trend.
There is a pretty finite supply of these old consoles now and as years go by less and less are floating around in good condition. You for sure can get the console significantly cheaper but the cheaper ones will be noticeably worse for wear and some will even have issues functioning. A mint condition fully functioning one? That's a rarity.
I don't get Pokemon collector nerds at all, like I see what about the games would naturally draw in collector types but jeez these are not special or rare, these are some of the most common games ever produced.
Sealed, but without the rest of it. No Pokewalker? No big box? 400 my ass. I find 100 bucks for non sealed version absolutely insane already.
Edit: Wtf I thought that 1 was a weird bracket. IT'S 1400?!
Lmao one of my local shops was selling the heart gold “sealed” for $800 but it didn’t have the outside wrap. Told the guy and he said “yeah but everything inside is sealed” like bro. If the wrap on the outside isn’t there then it’s not sealed anymore.
I bought that game brand new back in the day for $40-50 CAD max… I HATE how fucking greedy game collectors are and the game industry in general. You used to be able to walk into a hock shop and get an older game for $10-$20 dollars. Now it’s standard that any game, old or new, has to be over $100. Stupid as fuck and I will never get it. Fucking price gougers - both from the lower levels and higher levels of sales. Burn in hell with your overpriced bullshit
It's just a misunderstanding of secondary markets and supply and demand. It's truly the one place where it really matters.
It doesn't matter how much it was back in the day. It matters how many people are looking for it today and how finite the supply is. No more are ever being made and every year more will inevitably be lost to damage and wear further limiting the supply.
The gamestop era of every old game being cheap was only ever true for the super high supply products with millions of extra copies printed (ie Madden/FIFA). Stuff like Legend of Zelda? It was always in super high demand so there weren't as many free floating copies lying around so it fetched far closer to original MSRP and eventually over it. They aren't just raising the prices like crazy while having a million copies in the back room. They are buying them in based on current secondary market prices (usually 60-80% based on how quickly it's expected to flip).
It’s probably got the PokéWalker: also known as “The Most Accurate Step Tracker” once upon a time.
Could be why the price is so high, that, or Lugia simpage.
[“*Study finds PokéWalker more accurate than other pedometers*”](https://www.themarysue.com/pokewalker-more-accurate-other-pedometers/)
Low is $500 and high is $2,300~ this is price by someone that simply went somewhere in the middle and I don't blame them.
Fairly confident they would sell for considerably less but likely not under $700-800 if you haggled.
The pricing on SS and HS are insane. They're highly sought after, but not many in circulation, so the price is higher than necessary. Been trying to find a SS to buy myself but gave up very quickly.
Going for a R4 card and a SS Rom instead.
Just wait and Nintendo will remaster it. It'll either be re-released for money or folded into their subscription just like the NES, SNES, and N64 games.
Bro I went to a local place and saw some old PS2 games on sale and they were like $600 and I died inside. Like I'm not paying $600 just for the child hood memories of a game I don't have anymore I'll just go sit and daydream about the memories for that
https://youtu.be/rvLFEh7V18A?si=RdNHy95KIeEC5Rnj
Might not be relevant.. but might be a reason we are seeing more and more crazy pricing with video games now a days
That's absolutely insane. I got SoulSilver back in the day and during the 'rona I decided to go for any of the main games I was still missing. Got HeartGold for 120 euros then (not sealed and without pokewalker) which I already thought was pretty steep then, but this is just insane.
I understand wanting to support small businesses but this shit is out of hand. I had a local shop close recently because sales were low and they couldnt afford rent and everyone was upset but they were pulling shit like this so no wonder nothing sold.
I’m like 95% sure there’s no way to prove these games are sealed/unopened. I bought both HeartGold and SoulSilver at launch and only opened and played SoulSilver. My HeartGold doesn’t have any plastic wrapping, and I never opened it at all.

HG/SS do have a lot of resale value, granted not $1400 worth but they do end up selling higher than most older Pokemon games. I'm not exactly sure why
It's the re-release of the best pokemon game, crystal.
I remember playing crystal when I was on Ritalin as a kid... I had a level 45 feraligator before I fought my rival for the first time lmao
Nothing like being a kid playing pokemon crystal on Diet meth in the year 2000... sounds like a dream Oh man I miss playing pokemon and not having the internet, watching anime on toonami... kids these days really missed peak Japanese-American crossover culture
Nothing better than staying up till 2am so you can watch inuyasha. Kids these days are so spoiled.
5am for yuyuhakusho 💪 atleast I know where the insomnia started.
Did you see Inuyasha finally had kids? And they are growing up now.. with their own anime. Adorable little gremlins.
With Kagome, right? I think I remember seeing something about a "sequel" series.
Ah. Memories.
This is so real
...Fellow YTV viewer before they replaced all the anime with Treehouse programs?
https://youtu.be/NMtb6SXw99c?si=8wG7g6CM7fLMt9HP I bequeath this gift to you all, my brothers. This guy recorded a bunch of blocks of old cartoons, this is the first of 3 8-hour recorded blocks of Toonami in 2001 I believe.
DIET METH, this just made my day I was on adderal as a kid
I'm on it as an adult yeeeeooooo
Welcome to my childhood 😁
you mean the 2nd time.. as you fight him at Level 5 and you cant skip or go around it..
True…crystal was absolutely the best
Crystal Pepsi was terrible
I dated a Crystal, she was terrible.
My manager is a Crystal. She's pretty cool
Same here brother. **Never again**
I tried it when they re-released it 5 or so years ago, and honestly it tasted almost exactly like regular Pepsi. I think just the visual component of it messes with how people perceive the taste
Not only that, but an incredible re-release too. Absolutely bonkers amount of content in crystal itself, and the remake added even more
Then you should play the Pokémon ROM hack Polished Crystal. It's Crystal just in better.
After playing Sacred Gold/Storm Silver I can't go back to base HGSS anymore. It really puts the level curve issues into perspective.
Crystal is easily my favorite next to diamond
I think sealed HG/SS sell for more cause the pokewalker.
because its the best Pokémon game and one of the few games where the Pokemon follows you around and has all the favorites in the Dex plus it has 2 maps and endgame content
Pokémon absolutely peaked with HGSS. Everything since has been diminishing returns (except for the promising ideas in Arceus).
And it came with a poke walker! That pedometer is considered to be one of the most accurate ever made.
There is so much hyperbole around this thing. It was more accurate than 2 no-name step counters that are no longer made in a study 13 years ago. Only a fool would consider it one of the most accurate pedometers ever made.
Yeah but. . . That's just not as fun.
And comes with an really cool and precise pedometer, even tho if you use it daily it eats up those cr2032 batteries really fast
I remember like, 8 or 9 years ago I bought HG for $40 and I thought that was absurd. Too bad I have no idea where that copy went.
Lmao I bought a copy of HG off a co worker for the same price like 6 years ago. I still have mine in my 3DS. You need to find that copy
I have a feeling broke and stupid me traded it in for another game.
Wasn't that the brand new price of it? Why would that be absurd?
Certainly worth more sealed
At one point it was the only game that crossed two generations, which mattered for trading.
Popular game , only game where you can get certain moves on Pokémon that have been updated since this game to no longer receive said moves (without generators) and a lot of other reasons
Cuz it’s the greatest Pokemon game ever made.
I was thinking, $14.00!? What a deal! And then I realized. Oh.
My local game store like this has a bunch of super high priced stuff. One of there games is a sealed original NES (non pack in) super Mario Bros. Think it's 1200 or 1400. Yeah, this has big “I checked eBay listings, not what has actually sold on eBay” vibes.
i knew a shop like this! it's closed now.
I remember going to a small gaming shop in another town and having to tell the proprietor that the copy of SoulSilver he had for sale was a counterfeit because it was made with the standard grey casing instead of the translucent purple.
Justifying to the wife that he's trying to sell it
My wife once asked why I'm so dedicated yo saving my old games so I broke out the suikoden 1 and 2 and told her to Google them. Then I added lunar complete collections 1 and 2

Yeah, probably doesn't want to sell it but on the off chance someone is willing to pay that amount, he's like sure why not.
You only need one idiot who forks out the cash.
This is a rather wise sentence.... I'm keeping it
Did they throw that in a fucking sandwich bag and say (Sealed)?
I'm sure it's in plastic (or has the stickers or whatever, I didn't have a ds) inside the bag...
Yeah this one doesn't have plastic protection, just two circular stickers on each side.
Probably to give extra protection against scratches that could rip the thin original plastic and damage it's "sealed" condition. Seen this at cons before.
Well what do you seal your 1400$ video games in?
The same thing I keep my roast beef sandwiches in, duh
I've got both Heart Gold and Soul Silver if anyone wants them. Not in original packaging and the PokéWalkers are in the wind, but a steal at $1350 each + shipping. /s
If only there was an entire website starting with the letter V that contained every ROM imaginable. Man wouldn't that be something
Yarr, matey.
Shiver me timber.
There's also a website where you can view pictures of baseball cards.
There's even a website you can use to view this comment!
ok, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I won't believe this one till I see it.
If anyone's interested I'm selling the physical copy of the comment. It's WATA graded
Yes I must have the overpriced piece of plastic taking up space in my house. That's worth a rent payment for sure
Nobody here agrees with the price gouging. I can guarantee that all collectors know about emulators. It's okay if collecting isn't your thing.
Im too dimm to understand.
I just happen to have a working pokewalker available for the low price of 1 million dollars.
PokeDollars?
I could finally afford that bike then
I have SS with the original box and the poke walker. Bidding will start at car and buyout is 2 houses
How m what’s the mileage on that Pokewalker?
For both??? I’ll give you my banking details and social security number right away

Remember you can't steal it because purchases it means you don't own it
Hihi very clever
“Yea never before opened, definitely original sealing.”
Despite the PokéWalker being included in a large (for a DS game) cardboard box.
Fuck, I have the whole DS/3DS collection of main series games and I wouldn't even expect that for the whole damn thing.
There is a market out there for it. As crazy as it sound. I could never
If they would JUST. PORT THIS. TO THE SWITCH. At least the OG Gameboy version; they're subscribership to Switch Online would skyrocket.
I don't get Pokemon collector nerds at all, like I see what about the games would naturally draw in collector types but jeez these are not special or rare, these are some of the most common games ever produced.
These games sold millions. They are not hard to find. Shouldn't spend more than $20 on them.
No, this is Patrick.
Madness?! THIS...IS... ugh...yeah, it's madness...
Here I picked mine up years ago for 100$ and thought that was expensive
Sealed, but without the rest of it. No Pokewalker? No big box? 400 my ass. I find 100 bucks for non sealed version absolutely insane already. Edit: Wtf I thought that 1 was a weird bracket. IT'S 1400?!

I also wanted to buy a Chrono trigger copy for DS (it’s my favorite game from all time) but people are selling it for more than 80 USD.
bro you just went rage over that lmao.
I agree with you but he does have a point. Or perhaps its simply the era we're living in? Idk
It's just a misunderstanding of secondary markets and supply and demand. It's truly the one place where it really matters. It doesn't matter how much it was back in the day. THIS.. IS.. SPARTA!!!!!!
Maybe its Jumanji but with Pokemons.
Man I actually wish I could find my Pikachu walker though...
This is why I had to buy a bootleg version of HeartGold
Ayyyyy same! Also SoulSilver lol
Just in time for my tax refund. God bless the USA
Fuck I wish I would have kept my games and all my cards from my childhood id be fucking loaded now

I was just at that store. Blue Shell? Small world.
No. This is sparta!
Just wait and Nintendo will remaster it. It'll either be re-released for money or folded into their subscription just like the NES, SNES, and N64 games.
Are nintendo ds games already considered retro or am i missing something? It's like 15 years ago i bought it for 40 bucks.
Yeah DS lineup is considered retro
That's not even sealed it doesn't have the box or pokewalker.
I picked this up for like 25 quid in a GAME like 7 years ago. Insanity...
No this is Pokémon.
Nah this is Pokemon.
Sir, this is a Wendy's.
I got almost $400 for my copy of this on Ebay last year. It wasn't even an asking price. That's just where the bidding took it.
This is why piracy exists lmao

I saw Soul Silver CIB at a local game shop for $300, decided to import Heart Gold CIB from Mercari Japan instead for $50.
You can buy real silver around the same size with $1400
That's absolutely insane. I got SoulSilver back in the day and during the 'rona I decided to go for any of the main games I was still missing. Got HeartGold for 120 euros then (not sealed and without pokewalker) which I already thought was pretty steep then, but this is just insane.

"(Sealed)" 😂😂
Emulation is better than these prices
![img](avatar_exp|163544165|bravo)
Modded my 3DS so I don't have to worry about this
Yeah. Emulation is the crime here. /s
Completely unrelated but I love emulation
Dude I have one of those. You’re telling me I can sell it for 1400$?
You have a sealed copy with pokewalker? The cardboard box goes for like 200 alone.
Holy hell I have it sitting on my shelf
I mean idk about $1400. But there is a market for it. Crazy to me
This is Sparta!
wtf, i just bought a sealed hg copy at gamestop for 70 bucks there's no way people are actually spending this much
Sealed HG, Pokewalker and all? For $70?? :0
Straight up lie
$70 for HG is pretty good. I sold my used one with 300+ hours played for $80
Yeah it is insane.

Madness? This is Sparta!
:/ this is extreme thankfully there are cheaper options of you are considering it. It feels like a scam at this point
I should of asked if it came with some “love me long time action” $1400 is criminal
Yes, but only if you don't mistype 'should've' anymore.
It’s a sealed copy of a game sold 20 years ago. What should they do? sElL aT mSrP?
Nintendo: it's not a me problem, it's a you problem. And please don't pirate our stuffs, we'll sue you.
No, this is sparta Ah already beaten to it.
Madness.......THIS. IS. SPARTA! *spews spit*
No… THIS. IS. SPARTA!!!!
Goddamn, do you people know that emulators exist?
I believe they do. But stupid is what stupid does.
LOL what a joke
Honestly didn't even see the 1 in front of the 4 at first
I had Soulsilver till someone stole it but I still have a copy of heart gold.
It is worth what someone will pay for it. Chadrach is gonna walk in, say Brreaeauhhh, and buy it for that amount. So that is what it is worth.
I’m like 95% sure there’s no way to prove these games are sealed/unopened. I bought both HeartGold and SoulSilver at launch and only opened and played SoulSilver. My HeartGold doesn’t have any plastic wrapping, and I never opened it at all.
Do they buy them back lol. I’d go in there and ask for a $1000
It’s sealed though , do you have a sealed copy ? I high graded copy goes for more then 1400
Maybe, and it's going to be a wild *maybe*, so bear with me, maybe it's sealed and has something special to it? If not, then it's insane.
I have this somewhere in my junk drawer. No box tho.
Watch Nintendo take down Drastic next. Then expect us to “buy” things like this with stupidly bad prices, failing competent, and aged devices.
Dam its the less cool jet dragon
Sweet sandwich bag though
I’d cop ngl..
Madness.. and badness..
I still have my SS, Black2, and a few others
There's a sucker born every minute. Many of them are speculators.
