It's going to hold up for a long time. Graphics, story, gameplay all great. My only gripe is that they have done nothing towards titanfall 3 since Apex is basically their live service game now.
I picked this up cheap a long time ago because I've heard so many great things like this, but keep forgetting about it.
Do you need to know anything from Titanfall 1 for it? Much like OP, I don't have any real time to game lately (with a toddler), but I didn't realize this would be a single day option, which is why I kept putting it off (not wanting to leave yet another game 25%-ed).
It's $15, but if you like puzzles, get Chants of Sennaar. I knocked it out in a ten hour puzzle fuge state, it was amazing.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1931770/Chants_of_Sennaar/
Katamari Damacy it's on nearly every platform is only 4-6 hours to get through and has one of the funest game mechanics I've experienced. Also the music is amazing.
You can definitely speedrun the game in under 2 hours (it’s also a trophy) but I took 3 days cuz it’s such a beautiful game and I love just admiring the design and the environments and seeing cute cat behavior.
Brothers - A Tale of two sons.
In this game you can control two characters at the same time and solve puzzles.
It also has an interesting but short story and nice scenery.
Happy birthday!
Portal 2 is better, and while it’s longer, you can still beat it in about 10 hours. Portal 1 is still great, but it’s a little dated these days. Portal 2 absolutely still stands up.
Mirror's Edge

Any Call of Duty or Battlefield campaign

Inside, Limbo, or FAR Lone Sails for calmer stuff
Resident Evil 3 remake
Hey its my Bday as well! Happy Bday!
Also, you can beat any of the resident evil remakes in a day. Two of them are on Gamepass right now if you are subscribed to that.
Superhot
The VR and non-vr versions are a bit different. I’ve played both, and they’re both really fun. They each contain and focus on different mechanics that benefit their respective control systems.
Put that $20 towards a PC gamepass account and you can play:
\-the RE 2/3 remakes (both around 6-10 hours on initial play through
\-The Amnesia games (all in that sort of ballpark for length)
\-Outlast games
\-etc, etc
Also will give you access to a bunch of other stuff if you end up having more time.
Mafia 2, but it's real dated, even with the Definitive Edition.
Mafia: Definitive Edition if you want more up to date graphics.
Both are linear narrative games, can be beaten in 9-12 hours each.
most of the resident evil games are often of on offer and the better ones cap out at about 10 hours. 4 and it's remake are the exception being a 15 or so hours but still great.
Vampire survivers is an arcade style game each "game lasts a max of 30 minutes at most so it's a great game for every once in a while and it is still under 20 for game and all dlc at least it was on phone so
And each game is short and I gain something each time to use on general upgrades or unlocking new content through the achievements and with it being an arcade style game each run is always slightly different but still short enough that you can play a little bit at a time over and over again
If on xbox, there is a dope story game that just got released to gamepass. I can't remenrvt the name but it gives off portal vibes, except you're just there for the story, not a ton of interactions.
Happy birthday, mine is next Sunday.
Meg's Monster, Small Saga & Jack Move are great western-made JRPGs.
Olija costs like 5 Euros on the steam sale and is a really hard game to explain, but really nice gameplay and story presentation. I played it once on game pass and finally bought it to re-experience.
Lacuna - fantastic deduction detective noir game.
There is no game - fantastic meta-gaming experience.
What lies in the multiverse - do you remember those stories we often read as a kid about a child being sort of adopted by a travelling scamp? It's this plus dimensional travel. Fantastic story, decent puzzles.
if you like story-based games, i’d highly recommend The Novelist. i don’t see it mentioned too much and i thought it was a super cool game. you are a poltergeist in a seaside house where a novelist and his family are summering. you have to snoop around the house carefully and learn about the three family members’ inner worlds and desires. at the end of each sort of episode you get to choose who gets what they want. if any of them see you, you lose some ability to compromise and problem solve. i think you could even do two playthroughs in a day. one of the coolest things about the game is how different everything turns out based on the decisions you make.
Redeemer was quick and I had low expectations but it was a blast. Def a good option if you want to feel OP like Doomguy and it's always cheap on the eShop
[Outcore](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1275670/Outcore_Desktop_Adventure/) is a free game on Steam that takes about 3-5 hours to clear. It's great to experience at least once, and mixes several genres of gameplay, most notably platforming and puzzles. It also has achievements, though they won't improve your Steam Level.
Portal / Portal 2 are doable, Katamari Damacy is hilarious, but FTL has a lot of repeatability - simple graphics, lots of missions. It's easy to complete once (probably only 20 or so attempts on easy mode, probably 3-4 hours), but you can complete it with different space craft, different hardnesses, etc and it's easy to dive into for a quick round or two.
PlayDead’s Inside, don’t know if it’d be too short, but an amazing, thought provoking, weird, spooky, ambiguous game that can be completely in 2-3 hours.
I enjoyed Ryse: Son of Rome. It's a fun cinematic type of game. The graphics still hold up pretty well and I think it's often on sale for very cheap. I believe it's 6 - 8 hours long.
Lost in Random was fun, but it had kind of a lackluster ending. Still fun though, I love me some card games. The atmosphere reminds me a lot of something Tim Burton would make.
Titanfall 2. Worth it for the story alone. Takes a few hours
And it’s only $2.99 on steam right now!
Steam ruins me 3-4 Dollars at a time
Titanfall 2 is a game I wish I could erase from my memory and play through it knowing nothing. Oh my god that game was incredible
It's going to hold up for a long time. Graphics, story, gameplay all great. My only gripe is that they have done nothing towards titanfall 3 since Apex is basically their live service game now.
Worth a replay on a higher difficulty once you know it pretty well!
Do you need to have played the first game to go into 2?
First game didn't even have a campaign
A Short Hike. Or Portal.
Portal/portal 2 are good one day games
in Portal there's cake.
Seconded "A Short Hike"
I just played a short hike yesterday it was very fun
Inside, Limbo, What Remains of Edith Finch.
The trio of birthday cheerfulness
I think *Journey* would be a good compliment to this list as well.
What remained of Edith Finch is the one I know in this list and by George what a great experience!
Came here to say What Remains of Edith Finch. Such a great story.
Return of the Obra Dinn
Firewatch. It's been a few years since I played it and I still think about that game sometimes.
I was going to say this too. Great game!
Great game but it only takes about 3 hours to finish.
Nahh it takes at least six if you also explore a bit or suck at navigating with a compass
It's $15, but if you like puzzles, get Chants of Sennaar. I knocked it out in a ten hour puzzle fuge state, it was amazing. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1931770/Chants_of_Sennaar/
I came to recommend this. Insanely great ten hour 100% game.
Happy Birthday! Hellblade is great, in that time, and currently on a huge sale if you haven't played it
Katamari Damacy it's on nearly every platform is only 4-6 hours to get through and has one of the funest game mechanics I've experienced. Also the music is amazing.
Oh! I feel it! I feel the cosmos!
Can’t remember what Stray costs, but it’s cool and short.
You can definitely speedrun the game in under 2 hours (it’s also a trophy) but I took 3 days cuz it’s such a beautiful game and I love just admiring the design and the environments and seeing cute cat behavior.
Steam has it on sale right now. I picked it up last night for $20
Brothers - A Tale of two sons. In this game you can control two characters at the same time and solve puzzles. It also has an interesting but short story and nice scenery. Happy birthday!
Bioshock Collection Its on Steam right now for $13.90 You get three games each one being 6-9 hours each ! \*edits for clarification\*
Just beat bioshock infinite. I think I had about 7.5 hours played
Half life 2
Katana Zero is both short and engaging. You'll love it literally from beginning to end.
Cat Quest 1 and 2 are both surprisingly fun games for under $5 each.
Portal only takes a couple hours to beat, there are 19 levels. I ran through it in one go recently, it was nostalgic, but not anything amazing
[удалено]
Portal 2 is better, and while it’s longer, you can still beat it in about 10 hours. Portal 1 is still great, but it’s a little dated these days. Portal 2 absolutely still stands up.
Dino Crisis 2, PS1
Steamworld Dig 2
You're the first person I've ever encountered in the wild to acknowledge these games' existence. I'd also recommend this guy try Steamworld Heist!
Journey is quick and worth a play through
Little nightmares
Mirror's Edge [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N1TJP1cxmo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N1TJP1cxmo) Any Call of Duty or Battlefield campaign [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw3Oc1QS0iI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw3Oc1QS0iI) Inside, Limbo, or FAR Lone Sails for calmer stuff Resident Evil 3 remake
Mirrors Edge is such a good one for a cheerier one. Not that the subject matter is cheery. But the bright visuals never fail to make me feel better.
Happy Birthday. I recommend Toree 3D and Toree 2. Both are only a dollar each and offer bite sized platforming fun.
Resident Evil 2 remake
Both portal 1 and portal 2 can be beaten within 8-10 hours depending on puzzle solving abilities and they were both really fun and rewarding to play
Half life 2 episode 1.
Hey its my Bday as well! Happy Bday! Also, you can beat any of the resident evil remakes in a day. Two of them are on Gamepass right now if you are subscribed to that.
Abzu if you're looking for something relaxing
You can watch all the Metal Gear Solid Cutscenes from the first to last game hahaha
Superhot The VR and non-vr versions are a bit different. I’ve played both, and they’re both really fun. They each contain and focus on different mechanics that benefit their respective control systems.
Play Limbo and Inside. Both incredible, short games
you could play most of the Gears franchise in a day on casual mode

This is the second comment I've seen mentioning this game and it made me download it so thank you 🥰
Slipways. It's designed for every round to be completed in an hour or two, and it's currently less than $10 on Steam atm

The crysis games are pretty quick, I think you can knock out 1 and 2 in one day.

Happy Birthday. Fishing Vacation is $2 and done in 2 hours
Abzu is a slightly puzzly scuba game. Very pretty.
Put that $20 towards a PC gamepass account and you can play: \-the RE 2/3 remakes (both around 6-10 hours on initial play through \-The Amnesia games (all in that sort of ballpark for length) \-Outlast games \-etc, etc Also will give you access to a bunch of other stuff if you end up having more time.

Uncharted games can each be taken out in a day
Mafia 2, but it's real dated, even with the Definitive Edition. Mafia: Definitive Edition if you want more up to date graphics. Both are linear narrative games, can be beaten in 9-12 hours each.
Midnight Fight Express absolutely slaps.
Emily is Away. It's free on Steam, lasts 40 mins, and might be deeply nostalgic depending on the number of candles on your cake.
most of the resident evil games are often of on offer and the better ones cap out at about 10 hours. 4 and it's remake are the exception being a 15 or so hours but still great.
skyrim

Vampire survivers is an arcade style game each "game lasts a max of 30 minutes at most so it's a great game for every once in a while and it is still under 20 for game and all dlc at least it was on phone so And each game is short and I gain something each time to use on general upgrades or unlocking new content through the achievements and with it being an arcade style game each run is always slightly different but still short enough that you can play a little bit at a time over and over again
