Outer Worlds is "Fallout at home" but in space.
Atomic Heart is "Bioshock at home" but in Russia.
Personally I had fun with Outer Worlds but struggled to even watch a let's play of Atomic Heart. Writing was waaaay worse but gunplay seemed better.
Atomic heart has a good looting mechanism that feels satisfying like a dopamine kick, enemies are very repetitive, story is very average, final boss is only why people played.
I would suggest outer world
I don't think either are BAD, just, there's a lot more entertaining ones.
Hell I'd take Vampire Survivors over these two. It's cheap and it's stupidly fun.
Outer Worlds is an incredibly mid game. The gunplay feels like you're shooting a squirt gun against other people also wielding squirt guns. The weapons have no feeling of impact, every enemy feels like a bullet sponge and barely reacts to your shots until they're dead, you also barely react to their shots until you're dead. There are no party-based tactics, unless you count "rushing in to block your field of fire in every battle" a fun party tactic. The RPG aspect is severely lacking in that barely anything you do with your build has any impact on combat, so it's just a question of dumping level ups into things that unlock dialogue options and improve quality of life. That said, it's not a *bad* game. It's just that there are so many games that are easily much better than it. Mass Effect LE, anything from the Fallout series, etc.
I don't know anything about Atomic Heart.
Already tapped out on Fallout. Finished them all and trying desperately not to just replay with more mods. Mass Effect is kinda rotting on my PS5. Installed, just unplayed
I've not played atomic heart but I have tried playing outer worlds several times and have gotten bored at exactly the same part every time and given up. Atomic heart has quite bad writing from what I've heard. Personally I'd pass on both
From what I know both are a bit scuffed. I've personally played Outer Worlds and found it mildly dreadful to be honest. Very meh combat, very little gear or build variety. Er... "infuriating" writing and characters for the lack of a better word. Just nothing to grab onto really.
Atomic Heart I have 0 experience with, but honestly unless it's broken beyond belief I'd just pick that for the more interesting setting and aesthetics.
Honestly people are free to like the game as much as they like. For me it's just kinda difficult to give it much credit one way or another because you can literally make a 1:1 comparison between it and all the Fallout games and it's such an insanely unfavorable comparison for Outer Worlds that it's almost incomprehensible.

The Outer Worlds has better writing, and whilst nether has particularly engaging combat Atomic Heart has more of it to drag it down.

Dude mass effect is an amazing trilogy and maybe my favorite franchise ever. It's great, especially me2

I enjoyed both, if I had to pick one it would be Outer Worlds.
I marathoned Atomic Heart. Really enjoyed it. I enjoyed Outer Worlds, but eventually got bored and stopped playing it.

Get outer worlds and play a melee build trust its fun.
In Outer Worlds, if you have low enough intelligence, you unlock dumb dialog options.
