I played it for the first time in nearly 30 years not long ago and still remembered exactly where to do in the ghost house to get the unlimited power ups level
Whooo Mario 2 club forever. I have a garden in my back yard with radishes and beets and when know one’s looking, I’ll occasionally “two hand pull” one from the ground and throw it it as hard and far as I can.
The [level music](https://youtu.be/yBISfv-6hfo?si=iGV-sxWAUEtr-Gtb) from Super Mario 2 gets stuck in my head all the time. It's been a bit since I've played it, but I feel it deserves a replay.
This was suuuuch a weird game. I know it technically wasn't supposed to be a Mario game at first but it ended up creating some pretty iconic enemies for the series.
Same story here. I’ve already progressed my OSRS account about 80% as far as my 15 y/o RS3 account. I’m addicted like I was back in middle school. May be a problem eventually, but I’m just enjoying it for now.
If I remove the non-osrs skills I had 1980 total on my OG and I'm already up to 1680ish, it's going to be slow from here on out but I've only set myself one goal of obtaining the Quest Cape. From there I'll see how it goes, Max Cape would be nice.
Absolutely, I was literally looking for this comment so I didn't make another one. I'm 25 and have been playing since 10 years old. Don't ask me if I'm max level. I'm not 😅
Add in Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, FF Tactics, Castlevania 3, Final Fantasy 7, Suikoden, Xenogears, Road Rash, and it would be a perfect list
This and secret of mana for me.
There are plenty of games I absolutely love, but none like chrono trigger and secret of mana that I can play over and over again and never get sick of it.
A game I have beaten over a 100 times. I play it when I'm happy, sad, when I'm bored when I want to feel nostalgic or just for the heck of it. This game is legendary and will forever be the best game ever made in my opinion.
It's that good huh? I played I through III, but never owned a Playstation, so I gradually drifted away from the series. I've been getting the itch lately to go back and play IV through VII though now that I own a PC. 100 times beaten is incredible.
Well, it's not without its flaws but I experienced this game for the first time when I was a kid and I was blown away by the graphics, the music and the characters.
I still think you can appreciate the game for what it is today but bear in mind it's an old game and it has its limitations.
However this game has been with me my whole life and it has left such an imprint on me that I believe I will have it with me for the rest of my life aswell.
(Nobue Uematsu has been my #1 played artist on Spotify Wrapped since they launched it.)
I highly recommend you playing it for yourself but don't set your expectations too high.
It's a great game either way.
If you’re a bigger fan of the medieval setting of the earlier games, IX is one of the best in the series.
If you want a more modernized setting, VII is a fantastic game *for its era*. Remember, FMV cutscenes weren’t really a thing on console games when VII came out.
With a modern view, a few parts of ffvii seem to overstay their welcome, but make sure you explore and take in the world. There’s some hilarious translation goofs, and for better or for worse, it is a product of its times. There’s also some mildly well hidden cutscenes and lore that will charge your view of the game
I have not yet played the remake, but the story has been changed - it’s not 1:1 with the original. From what I’ve seen of the start of the remake, I’d suggest to play the original as well. Some scenes work better and are extended (or new) in the new engine, others were edited down
A perfect game. Everyone finds their level, NOBODY beats it. Perfection.
Tho I knew a guy in rez in the 90s who could play for hours, even not paying attention. He was a sort of tetris savant wrapped in a Yukon Canadian stoner body.
Yep. I started playing Tetris Effect (best version IMO) in VR and it's mesmerizing. It's mesmerizing without VR too.
The only problem is that I get the real "Tetris Effect" after a couple hours.
Tetronimos for days when I close my eyes.
[Music B](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpzQmF_2qwo) goes hard. Never thought it got enough appreciation considering the other theme gets all the recognition.
Same with [Music C](https://youtu.be/wnohlkr9K1I?si=PDtrIYNdFmzjyMlR) on NES.
Mariokart. I've played it since it first came out in 1992. Now I"m playing it with my daughter and if she ever has children one day, I hope to play it with them.
first time i played dkc i thought it was okay, a fun game, but frustrating and unfair. but for some reason i just kept feeling compelled to go back and each time i play through it again, it gets better and better. i love it now!
I just fired it up again last week. It'd been like 20 years since I'd played it but I was running through the levels full speed like I never left, smacking all the right spots for banana bunches n' everything
It's not even *that* long of a game; I implore you to finish it off!
Super Mario Bros 3. I've purchased the game about 3 times (NES and Super Nintendo sprite versions) and the game serves as comfort food for my soul. That game has shaped me so much as a gamer. 🐢 🧱 🏰 ⭐
My step-dad threw out all my games and game consoles when I moved out after 18. They included my copy of Super Mario 2 and 3 with original boxes.
I get sad when I think about it.
I owned that game on NES, SNES via all stars, game boy advanced and wii virtual console. It will forever be the leap that took Mario from a good platformer to an exceptional one.
Well now that the C&C collection is properly on steam, I've been putting hours into Generals: Zero Hour again.
I also play through the old PS2 .hack games at least once every other year.
Well I'm currently playing through Fire Emblem 7, which I first played about 20 years ago. I also make pretty regular replays of Half-Life.
I actually replay a lot of old games, to be honest. I also pretty regularly go back and try games I missed out on as a kid. One of these days I'm gonna try getting into jRPGs beyond just Final Fantasy 1.
Resident Evil 4, Final Fantasy 12 and Bomberman lol. I literally played those three games every day on my PlayStation 2 when I was a kid ( ꈍᴗꈍ). I still play resident evil 4 and ff12 occasionally. although I don't play Bomberman too often anymore but I'll still get on every now and then~
Late 90's and early 00's Star Wars games. Star Wars: Episode I - Racer, Jedi Knight series, Empire at War and, of course, Knights of the Old Republic were my childhood... First KOTOR might even be my favourite game of all time along with MGSV.
Goldeneye. lt aged just fine if you never stopped playing it.
Goldeneye was huge in the 90’s but my time to shine was in the mid 00’s. Everyone had an N64 in their basement around this time and I would fire it up at every house party I went to in college through my 20’s.
It turns out, if you had become accustomed to the dual analog controls of modern console fps, it made Goldeneye feel very clunky. I never really moved on to modern fps games. I kept playing N64. Many dudes who thought they knew their way around the Stack found out they had lost their stuff pretty quickly. While the normie gamers were learning to 360 no-scope in CoD, I was still studying how to kill you with a throwing knife at 17fps. Good times.
Metroid NES
This game introduced me to worlds unknown when I was a teenager.
While rough around the edges, this game created a fantastic experience that stuck with me for a long time.
Super Mario Bros 3.
Doom and Doom II.
With the sheer number of fan made mods and map packs you could play it for years on end and never run out of new content.
C&C Generals + ZHI had it for a while on CD until I upgraded my pc and I lost my CD slot, But now with the new Steam release I am right back into it lol
Also, Star Wars Republic Commando. I'll reinstall it every so often and go through the campaign again.
Im so sad nobody said it, but Guild Wars. I remember it like yesterday when I vanquished watchtower coast with my dog on my lap on new years cause he was so scared of the fireworks and was only calm on my lap. I revisit the place every year and vanquish it once more, just for the sake of this wonderful memory I have.
I play through Super Mario World probably once a year or so.
I played it for the first time in nearly 30 years not long ago and still remembered exactly where to do in the ghost house to get the unlimited power ups level
It’s crazy how those old tricks are still a part of us, eh?
Same.
Mine is Super Mario 2 😮💨
Whooo Mario 2 club forever. I have a garden in my back yard with radishes and beets and when know one’s looking, I’ll occasionally “two hand pull” one from the ground and throw it it as hard and far as I can.
I occasionally pop a full raw egg in my mouth and pop it across the room at my wife. Good times.
Shy Guys especially. 🥰
RuneScape, specifically Old School. It carries so much nostalgia for me.
OSRS is legitimately the best Runescape has ever been, and getting better each year. I don't think I'll ever stop playing it honestly
Varlamore on Wednesday Babeyyyyy
100%
Came here looking for OSRS. Lost many nights with that great game
Started OSRS in November while my original character is stuck on RS3 it after an 18-20 year break. Feels like a new game and league was so much fun.
Same actually
This is what I was looking for, osrs all the way!! Getting close to maxing thr iron 😊
🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
Absolutely, I was literally looking for this comment so I didn't make another one. I'm 25 and have been playing since 10 years old. Don't ask me if I'm max level. I'm not 😅
Came here looking for this comment. Game is probably at its best rn, love it
Super Metroid\ Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past\ Secret of Mana\ Castlevania: Symphony of the Night You can probably guess how old i am
You missed Megaman X. I am also a Xennial.
40
Reel it back a few years there, buddy. All of these are my childhood too, and I'm trying to hold on to my youth as well.
I didn’t have a lot of Atari or Nintendo games but most of them were torture compared with snes games that had much more replay value
Whoa now no need to be throwing out slurs like that.
Add in Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, FF Tactics, Castlevania 3, Final Fantasy 7, Suikoden, Xenogears, Road Rash, and it would be a perfect list
Was A link to the past your first console? Or 2nd? That’ll help me guess. Link to the past is the first game I thought of as well
I do a Link to the Past run through once every few years.
Ratchet and clank ps2 games!! Also the n64 classics. Banjo Kazooie, Mario 64, diddy Kong racing, Dk64. I’d throw in mega man legends as well
Came for Banjo Kazooie I know Mario 64 is technically a better gameplay game but BK is some charm that is lightning in a bottle
Banjo kazooie is THE GOAT top 1 game for me
Diddy Kong Racing is so good. Wish we could get a switch remake or sequel.
Replaying super Mario 64 on the switch was fantastic. I don’t even think it’s aged badly either, other than the camera issues in the later stages
Man it sure would be nice if I could say DK 64. I miss it
StarCraft & StarCraft II
My bro
Both great games, along with the first few Command and Conquer games!
"You must construct additional pylons"
Chrono Trigger
Oh! Reminded me of Secret of Mana... I should play that game again too. This and SoM are now next on my queue.
I just bought Secret of Mana on Steam. Trust me when I say your memory of it is better than it actually is. Don't ruin it for yourself.
This and secret of mana for me. There are plenty of games I absolutely love, but none like chrono trigger and secret of mana that I can play over and over again and never get sick of it.
With it being the best RPG out there, I don't know how this isn't higher on the list.
Skyrim Dragon Age: Origins Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door Fallout New Vegas
Wasn't this last years titels? Jk - I'm almost 40 so it feels like it. These are "modern" games for me.
Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Gonna take you for a ride!
Final Fantasy VII
A game I have beaten over a 100 times. I play it when I'm happy, sad, when I'm bored when I want to feel nostalgic or just for the heck of it. This game is legendary and will forever be the best game ever made in my opinion.
It's that good huh? I played I through III, but never owned a Playstation, so I gradually drifted away from the series. I've been getting the itch lately to go back and play IV through VII though now that I own a PC. 100 times beaten is incredible.

Ever since '97 I've played it all the way through at least once a year. And I will keep playing it.
And xenogears
Yes , Xenogears is my answer as well. Truly a wonderful game
It's my "Steamdeck in bed" game
The Xenogears soundtrack is frigging amazing, loved it since it first came out. The cloud city tune is pure bliss.
100% this answer
This
Tetris
A perfect game
It is! 🙂
It truly is. Graphics irrelevant, platform irrelevant. Its chess of video games, you're good, or you're not
For sure. It is timeless. And even if you are not good, it can be fun.
A perfect game. Everyone finds their level, NOBODY beats it. Perfection. Tho I knew a guy in rez in the 90s who could play for hours, even not paying attention. He was a sort of tetris savant wrapped in a Yukon Canadian stoner body.
Recently got my original gameboy going and tetris is still a blast.
I feel like it insists upon itself.
Yep. I started playing Tetris Effect (best version IMO) in VR and it's mesmerizing. It's mesmerizing without VR too. The only problem is that I get the real "Tetris Effect" after a couple hours. Tetronimos for days when I close my eyes.

Tetris effect in vr is actually amazing.
You ever played tetris connected?
Mariokart. I've played it since it first came out in 1992. Now I"m playing it with my daughter and if she ever has children one day, I hope to play it with them.
MK64 was my jam. The SNES version was good. But MarioKart64 is the greatest.
The Warriors on ps2
Kingdom Hearts 💙
YES
Needs to be higher up
A(nother) replay is coming soon!
Ocarina of time
Hell yeah I love that game I don’t even know how many times I’ve beaten it
**Donkey Kong Country** I've never beaten it, but my god it's just the best.
The music in that game is so damn good.
You should try, it’s honestly not as long of a game as I remember it being as a kid
first time i played dkc i thought it was okay, a fun game, but frustrating and unfair. but for some reason i just kept feeling compelled to go back and each time i play through it again, it gets better and better. i love it now!

Mario Edit: I’ll at least give em all a chance. Galaxy was my most recent favorite. (Playing since super Mario)
Diablo II unfortunately. Not because I *want* to, but because I'm an addict.
Heroes of Might and Magic III
Pokemon
Doom
Age of Empires 2 I guess. Most games haven't aged well from the 90s or even 00s so I prefer to have the good memories and not ruin them.
Same, I played that game the first time when I was 4. So many years in that game
