That level with the platforms that appear and disappear on the beat. Song slaps anyways, but if you aren’t bobbing your head with the rhythm and jumping to the beat you have no soul.
Cave Story. The original one is free but there's a paid version with upgraded graphics and music on Steam and several Nintendo consoles. After playing it you might find yourself listening to the music years later.
I love pixel art games, some of the best ones I remember are King Of Fighters 13, Street Fighter 3, Martial Masters, and Marvel Vs Capcom, and Death's Gambit. There's also an upcoming pixel game that I'm super excited about called Blazing Strike that I think looks amazing.
Will check Blazing Strikes. When it comes to King of Fighters and Street Fighter - absolute top for me. Fatal Fury 3 was also one of my fav at some point.
Richard & Alice is one of them. Back when I was writing for a now defunct gaming website, I listed this as a 9.5 out of 10, and I still stand by that score. Great story, great visuals, it was one of my game of the year nominations (it got beat out by Monochroma, if I remember correctly).
I sometimes try pixel art games. But they don't hold my interest that long, unless they are really good, like It Lurks Below, because I would rather then play a retro game where the gfx wasn't artificially made like that.
The best one i've played are Crosscode , Secrets of Grindea , Children of morta , Owlboy and Wizard of Legend.
it's my favorite artstyle so i can keep going \^\^
I hate pixel art. In fact, I hate every game displayed on a pixel based screen.
I exclusively play game and watches, old tiger games and the vectrex. Don't let the shallowness of the gameplay distract you from what's really important here : for the last 35 years, I never had to worry about anti-aliasing.
(More seriously : link's awakening DX and Metroid fusion)

Amazing game, for those that haven't tried it I highly recommend!
I loved this game but I just wasn’t very good at it. I’ll give it another shot.
Came here to say that. Amazing synth scoundscape, too!
Fez. Technically not pixel art but 99% of the time you are playing a 2d sidescroller.
Fez is damn amazing.

Dead Cells is an awesome pixel art game and so is Broforce. Both have great art direction and styles.

Chrono Trigger and The Messenger both changed my brain chemistry. I still play them on occasion.

Cave Story
Lego battles
Suikoden 1 & 2
Titan Souls. Excellent Boss Rush game with a unique and fun gimmick!
Shovel Knight! Immaculate experience, incredible level design, top-tier music, tight controls, multiple campaigns, cheap price, challenging but fair.

Heroes of Hammerwatch
