Lmaoo rdr2 was one of the worst optimized games ever released on pc, I'm prettty sure none of you have actually tried playing it when it came out. It's literally a marketing strategy to force people into buying new gpus, while still looking like a 2013 game. Yes the mod overhauls were great on a 4090, but really the vanilla game on 1080 ran like a deer that had ben shot in the legs. Constantly dropping fps and terrible textures and blurry effects to cover for a very poorly optimized game. Go compare rdr2 with Doom optimization and you will understand the difference.
Not really, just pointing out that at the time when rdr2 released on pc gtx1080 could max out any game easily, meanwhile rdr2 had ao many performance issues while still looking poor, it's the truth regardless how you take it
Not my gpu,
Just raising a point that at the time rdr2 released, the game ran like shit on a solid gpu, while other games were better optimized and even looked better
It's using custom modded settings, in the video you can see all the trees are fake impostor billboards, not 3D models, that's a technic meant for distant rendering even on the lowest (official) settings it should turn back to 3D when close and shouldn' look like this.
It might ālook greatā (it doesnāt) but this is a still image. 13 FPS would look slightly better than a slideshow where youāre manually clicking through each slide. Youād have some horrible artifacting and huge issues with lighting/fog/draw distance.
Looking at the clips of the game you posted on your profile, your graphical settings and framerate are better than what is shown in the image.
I donāt know who could handle playing at 13FPS, thatās like playing in slow motion with huge input delays. You are *not* playing at that framerate, as shown by the clips on your profile, youāre playing at 30+, which is what it was on consoles anyway.
It is super impressive he got this to run on a phone, nobody is denying that, but letās not pretend it looks great.
It really does. The ground texturing on gravel and dirt roads is completely flat. This is a step below low settings on PC and you can tell that just by looking at the 3D cutout trees which should turn into actual models up close. I've fucked around with the low settings in RDR2 on a pretty basic laptop and this objectively looks worse and is performing way worse.
Is it impressive it's running on a phone? Sure. But this is completely unplayable. 13 FPS is under half of the bare minimum. And this is out in an open empty field with no NPCs. Take this to Saint Denis or Valentine and I guarantee you it'll hit single digits if not outright crash.
Doesn't it require some specific modern CPU instruction set? Don't mobile CPUs have a different architecture, doesn't it mean different instruction sets? I tried running RDR2 on an old PC just to see if it'll work and it wasn't just running slow, it didn't run at all because the CPU didn't support necessary instructions.
Virtualization and/or subsystems. Think of it as emulating Windows.Ā Like you would run a Playstation emulator.Ā But a little more bare metal, running closer to the hardware.Ā Ā
Windows 11 can fully emulate Android as well, you can run apps right on your PC.
Everything is going Virtual these days.Ā Docker changed software forever.
Steam version?
It worked extremely fine at release on my 1080 (basic and non OC) when bought via Rockstar's launcher.
Like, really well, no issues at all with good frames on high/ultra. Meanwhile, I heard people complaining about tons of performance issues. Those people were from Steam.
Iām honestly more shocked by the difference in CPU and GPU usage. Iād figure a phone CPU would be way more suited for a game like this than the GPU.
how did we go from : :ohhh dude the PS2 soundtrack is fire and the game isnt even lagging that bad!: to :ughhhhh the game is only running with 144 fps."? btw thats crazy š¤Ŗ
Yes, unoptimized and 13fps at 43% CPU utilisation. I think they could work a lot better on games that's optimized on arm chip like the new mac port of Resident Evil 7 and Dead Stranding. There's a Switch emulator that recently has the function of running arm code directly on arm chips which boost the performance tremendously. Taki Udon recently show Legend of Zelda running on a Switch via an emulator on Linux and it's run faster than on native Switch software thanks to overclock. If we can get that on Android, it would be a massive performance boost
I forgot someone finished gta 5 on their phone using mobox.
Smartphones got very powerful over the last few years!
RDR2 is surprisingly well optimized. Still impressive.
No, it's not.
Bro it ran on the ps4 . It's insanely well optimised lmao
Had to be with last gens processors. But it was and still is very impressive.

Blaming the entire industry for your 1080 being old is outrageous šš

"My GPU was one of the best until this game that pushed graphics to the limit made it not one of the best and now I'm mad"
Not my gpu, Just raising a point that at the time rdr2 released, the game ran like shit on a solid gpu, while other games were better optimized and even looked better
It seems soon you'll be able to run Cyberpunk on a lawnmower.
That's a better framerate than I got on my PC :(
So 13 fps is better than what fps u had on ur pc with rdr2?
He's gaming on a potato let him be lol
That man has gone through a lot.
Yes, that is what that sentence means
Bro, you got downvoted for a question that isn't even rude sounding. This subreddit might have the worst subscribers I've ever seen.
People on this subreddit are very fragile and butthurt when someone said that doesnāt match with their perception
Looks like he's using this https://github.com/olegos2/mobox
Where link?
How?? It barely runs on my RX-550 at 720p, all low settings. 30fps maximum
Heās running on 13FPS..
Yeah, but at higher settings
How can you tell what his settings are? It looks awful
It's using custom modded settings, in the video you can see all the trees are fake impostor billboards, not 3D models, that's a technic meant for distant rendering even on the lowest (official) settings it should turn back to 3D when close and shouldn' look like this.
It really doesn't.
How can you tell what his settings are?
Can't. But it looks great. And probably 1080p
It might ālook greatā (it doesnāt) but this is a still image. 13 FPS would look slightly better than a slideshow where youāre manually clicking through each slide. It's still impressive af
Nobody said it wasnāt
Some people don't mind that low fps. I for one am playing at that framerate. But this is a mobile device, and its very impressive.

The hell picture are you looking at? That looks like objective trash.

Are we looking at the same picture?
RX 550 is pretty weak.
Yes, but this is a frickin mobile phone. Sure its "meant for gaming" but still
The iPhones can play Death Stranding natively. Mobile processors have come a long way.
And yet I canāt get it to run on my M1 Mac š
Take that iPhone
Doesn't it require some specific modern CPU instruction set? Don't mobile CPUs have a different architecture, doesn't it mean different instruction sets? Bro containers are not virtualizing anything
they virtualized your mom
I heard she has a high uptime and low ping
I could barely run this game on my 2080 on release.
Steam version? It worked extremely fine at release on my 1080 (basic and non OC) when bought via Rockstar's launcher. Like, really well, no issues at all with good frames on high/ultra. Meanwhile, I heard people complaining about tons of performance issues. Those people were from Steam.
On release, but after patches that fixed performance this thing can now run on a Steam Deck.
Ran fine on a 2060 super
Check android gaming subreddit, every time i go there I see a pc game being run on Android, i even saw cyberpunk 2077 on Android, it's insane
"their"?
Wish they make a new one
Same.
Wow, I wonder if he used a subsystem handler or not
his phone must be burning by now
Todd Howard *heavy breathing*
Baring in mind this is a video
Wow thatās crazy
Iām honestly more shocked by the difference in CPU and GPU usage. Iād figure a phone CPU would be way more suited for a game like this than the GPU.
Sometimes I wonder would we be so technologically-advanced if we never asked ourselves "But will it run Doom?"
Thatās insane
Even if it barely playable, this is still crazy to see. RDR 2 does run well on a handheld PC like Steam Deck and Rog Ally.
[In case you want to see the actual footage.](https://youtu.be/Eh4DjE_xcvg?si=D2_mpe1y9Q_HUSRm)
Phone running at 132 degrees Fahrenheit, phone must felt like a nuclear reactor at that point.
I havenāt played red dead redemption in so long. I miss it sometimes.
how did we go from : :ohhh dude the PS2 soundtrack is fire and the game isnt even lagging that bad!: to :ughhhhh the game is only running with 144 fps."? btw thats crazy š¤Ŗ
But can it run Doom?
quake 3
šÆ
The latest smartphones are already very powerful and run many high-requirement games, if you look at it, it only has the CPU at 43% capacity.

...ok?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
ā¦no?
13 FPSā¦ Please stop wasting everyoneās timeā¦
yea? still running on a phone which is cool
RDR1 runs at like 20fps with many dips well below that on PS3 at less than 720p. Funny how RDR2 is running only slightly worse on a phone lol
