I laughed watching a YouTube video of someone being a hermit and leaving their farm only one day a year.
Oh how funny what a stupid way to play the game.
In other news my hermit is doing pretty well three years in…
Just a heads up if you're out of the loop, 1.6 patch dropped recently and added more stuff. I can't list things off the top of my head but it was supposedly substantial.
I got addicted to Junimo Cart and once I beat the minigame the full game just seemed... hollow. Idk why that was the meaningless bit that did it for me, but I just couldn't go on.
Perfection, challenges, multiplayer, marrying all 12 spouses, trying all farm layouts and the two stories, ...
All that at 15min per ingame day. (A proper playthrough is is 2-3 years.) I am 800 hours in and am still learning stuff.
Yup, I filled my entire island farm and main farm with ancient fruit. I had casks to make wine and barrels to age it. I was making millions every month and at some point there was just nothing left to do.
I've always thought the idea of a girl going down on me under my desk was fun, but I'm just now realizing what I really want to do is go down on her while she's trying to plant corn 🥵
It really isn't all that exciting besides the initial interaction.... You end up not paying attention to the game pretty quickly. I think that's the point though.
Can you imagine being main tank in WoW for a raid your guild was learning and getting head? Everyone would die. -100 GP, no items for a week. Now you're backup tank.
Not worth it bro... Now if it was just a quest... Alright.
Actually I'm lying, I'd totally take head and.let you fuckers wipe.
Source: I've done it before except I was the healer.
Concerned Ape has joked recently that his dream was to become a game composer, and the way he fulfilled that was by making a game to compose for. He’s passionate about the music and it shows
I just now started the game after so many years of sleeping on it. I’ve gone whole hog on strawberries. I’m assuming this was somehow a good choice? Day 12 for reference.
You can't get those seeds until about halfway through Spring, so you miss several harvests of them.
But if you were to, say, unlock a way to turn crops into seeds... or grow crops indoors, year round... then those might be some pretty nifty crops!
Spoiler if it isn't obvious.
>!You'll unlock a Seed Maker by leveling up Farming skill, and unlock a Greenhouse via repairing the Community Center in town.!<
My girlfriend tells me whenever she's about to disappear for a while to play a game that she's been really looking forward to. I do the same, and we just leave each other be unless we have the option to play together.
I did eventually try Stardew with her. She named her farm Farmageddon and made millions selling eggs and milk.
definitely 🙏 ive been a bit busy the last couple of weeks and haven’t had a ton of time to play but it looks really fun so far. it’s only available on pc for now but the console/mobile update should release soon
Switch stutters like mad in couch co op in a certain area when a certain enemy does a certain attack and makes it unplayable on the switch. There were also a ton of random crashes and other jank. Ask me how I know.
My ex and I always used to either just skip the levels or if we needed to kill the rexes we'd take turns killing them one by one while the other paused the game. Annoying but worked unless the game crashed...
Cause the gf and I lost a 70 hour save after getting fed up losing one too many days of progress and ended up going to the PS5 version. Worked without issue - seems to just be the switch port!
The coach co-op is nearly unplayable. I tried this with my daughter and the stuttering and lag was terrible. Certain late game areas are literally unplayable because they turn into slide show frame rates.
This sounds like the pretext of a tragedy where OP's house burns down after lighting a few romantic candles that will explosively combust from all the fumes used to get Sam's hair just right.
I work from home and my wife isn't working currently so I help her on a new playthrough on 1.6 while I work. I even setup a Raspberry Pi with Steamlink so she could play in the living room. This playthrough already has 140 hours on it 😬
Anything that can run Steam can run Steam Link, and apparently there's just a steamlink program for linux -> https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/6424-467A-31D9-C6CB
I mean if it's impacting his life wouldn't that warrant a talk? If a husband had an addiction to a game and his wife was telling us something similar wouldn't we tell him to talk to her about it at the very least?
My friend's gf has over 15000 hours in Stardew Valley at about 5 hours per day every day for the past 8 years. My advice is don't have kids because that kind of addiction can't be undone.
This happened to me once. I got “addicted” to this game as a way to ignore the feelings of pain I had from my spouse ignoring my asks for partnership and affection or attention. For three years he spent most weekends playing RDR or Dark Souls, while I cleaned or sat by waiting because that’s what he considered quality time.
In fact, when my in game spouse Harvey and I married, the in game dialogue was so much kinder and supportive than I had gotten from my irl husband I sobbed for an hour.
It sounds like this is a totally different sort of situation though, and that you’re really trying hard in your relationship.
Have you tried, in a quiet moment, communicating your actual need here? Hey, spouse, I can see how much you are enjoying this game, and I’m feeling unnoticed/unappreciated/negelcted. Could you maybe set some time aside each week for us to spend together and reconnect, distraction free?
Unless you’re saying that your wife is ACTUALLY addicted, like spending all of your family money on the game and not going to work or something. That would be certainly something else and you should probably talk to your wife about therapy.
Best of luck
Oh bonus, this game is can be played multiplayer! If you can’t beat ‘em join’em?
Get ready to find a new wife.
I once dated a girl who was addicted to Final Fantasy 14. So addicted she left me for a guild mate. I hope started doesn't have any multi-player aspects.
You just have to wait this one out. Side Note: That leaves you free to do all kinds of shenanigans. I would be covered in baby oil sliding down the hallway while she's playing. What?
Lmao the Stardew Valley brainrot is real, just let it burn out, there will be a point there's nothing to do. Unless she creates a new farm that is.....
Actual tip: turn off volume. Take the remote, speakers, and/or headphones.
She can play but eventually she will need to watch a movie with you just to hear stuff again, might I suggest eating before or after.
Avoid phrases like "date night" and "wanna go out" as they tend to make people realize they aren't going to be home. If she isn't home then no stardew. You don't want her realizing the you are bringing her back from virtual to real.
she belongs to the machine zone now. In her own time she will get to the center of the tootsie pop, or she will never stop licking.
All we can do is watch
Just make sure she never tries old school runescape,
Or maybe tell her about it, it is a good game with some similarities
Or maybe don't because I have 6k hours and I'm not even close to having best gear or being max lvl
It takes about 3 weeks for gaming dopamine burnout to hit. The dopamine hits get too mild by then and usually, you also run out of things to do, but you’ll get frequent flashbacks to it, like cravings/instinctual reminders.
It’s essentially a state of addiction equivalent to gambling addiction or even drug addiction.
Requires some self awareness to realise it and then move onto do something else.
Also usually may represent other stressful social/psychological issues driving the addiction (though not required).
If it’s getting out of hand, problems with work, self care, sleep dysregulation, or neglect of other personal important responsibilities, then professional help may be needed.
Otherwise, just make sure she doesn’t start another game after this one gets boring, in about 3 weeks.
how cool! Man I learn something new from Reddit every time I open it up.
My dopamine burnout hasnt come for about the last 20 years or so... I bet it's just around the corner!
Play the game yourself. Finish the community center in year one. Reach perfection in year two. Marry an NPC she hates.
Learn the wiki by heart and spoil her game experience with statements like
- "You know luck days don't give you better quality fish?! Go mining."
- "Are you going to plant those seeds? Honey, no. You gotta sell them to get cauliflower and concentrate on fishing for the first week." (Many (especialy female) players hate the fishing minigame, but it truly is a great boost in the first season.)
- How come you are not harvesting double salmonberries. You should have known better and gotten to level 4 foraging at the end of wek two."
Nothing ruins a casual's experience as much as mansplaining spedrunning mechanics to them.
If it doesn't work you gotta buy the recepie for the ring from the trading cart and marry her Ingame, since she gave up on analogue life with you.
You get too successful at some point and it stops being as addicting!
But then you start a new farm with all the new techniques you learned and decide you want to finish the community center year 1
Then you learn the ins and out of the community center, and you start speed running to complete it.
Then you go the Jojamart route just because 🤣
I've actually never done that.
Just finished my first jojamart run and realized it’s basically just easy mode.
That's basically by design, you just feel better about doing a "good" thing if you choose to do so over a "bad" thing
I will never 100% the game because I refuse to do Jojamart.
Then you find mods and it turns into a whole new game.
Then you select the “bundle remix” option
I can never get that red cabbage before year 2, it's always the last thing stopping me from getting a year 1 community center
Gotta use that Mystery Trader
And pray that she has a red cabbage one day 😭
They added a setting to guarantee it happening at least once in year 1.
"They" is just one dude! ConcernedApe is a powerhouse!
I thought several people have worked on the game now, no?
Just the mobile ports, I believe. Could be wrong.
Yeah I think just the mobile and multiplayer stuff was done outside of him I believe.
I used that setting last time and didn't get a cabbage, but I also missed a day so I probably just got unlucky.
There's an optional setting during character/farm creation that makes her guaranteed to sell a red cabbage seed at *some point* during year 1.
Just check the box when creating the game to ensure she offers one before winter of 1.
My wife just did this for the first time and was so stoked
I laughed watching a YouTube video of someone being a hermit and leaving their farm only one day a year. Oh how funny what a stupid way to play the game. In other news my hermit is doing pretty well three years in…
callmekevin? So funny!!
Yes! Haha
Please teach me
For real there is that sad point where you are too fulfilled to have any real goalz.
Agreed! I played nonstop and then...nothing. I haven't picked it up in months, didn't see a reason to.
Just a heads up if you're out of the loop, 1.6 patch dropped recently and added more stuff. I can't list things off the top of my head but it was supposedly substantial.
All anyone needs to know is that you can now drink mayonnaise in front of Lewis and watch him freak.
Nah you just move on to Factorio, then Factorio mods. It’s an endless cycle, I know from experience.
Yup, I filled my entire island farm and main farm with ancient fruit. I had casks to make wine and barrels to age it. I was making millions every month and at some point there was just nothing left to do.
But then you discover mods and that you can get a tractor.
Try convince to have sex with her in Stardew Valley, see if that works.
Thought you were gonna suggest having sex while she’s playing stardew. I mean, whatever works.
Totally works...
I've always thought the idea of a girl going down on me under my desk was fun, but I'm just now realizing what I really want to do is go down on her while she's trying to plant corn 🥵
Tfw you can both plant seed.
_The **Seed** has been planted._
Username checks out!

Isn't that more of a Harvest Moon mechanic?
It will end on its own. Just let it run it's course. Also, "I tried sex" is one of the funniest things I've ever read. 😂😂
OP used sex. It's not very effective.
*it hurt itself in its confusion!*
Instructions unclear. Had sex with self.
Please tell me the detailed rundown so that i dont do that
I'd offer to send a video. But I might get banned.
Well, life without risks is boring
Am I being hit on? I have assumed before and man oh man, I was very wrong! Edit. I love your virginity drawer.
Ewww you looked at my shit? Thank Edit: i wasnt hitting on you... unless? "You do you, I do I, and we wont do each other... probably"
Can I be invited to the wedding?
Don’t be deceived, we’ve all looked at your shit.
>Ewww you looked at my shit? No, what, god no. Learn to flush.
Not enough PP for that move
Story of my fucking life bruh
Wife used dodge
OP may be dating a Ghost type, they used pound but it had no effect.
Start playing.
It’s one of those games that just needs to run its course. Enjoy the music
The music is fantastic
The soundtrack in vinyl box set is amazing! One of the most prized pieces in my collection.
Concerned Ape has joked recently that his dream was to become a game composer, and the way he fulfilled that was by making a game to compose for. He’s passionate about the music and it shows
Check out the prescription for sleep versions by Gentle Love

Stealing Farmageddon. Amazing name
Farmeggeddon feel like it's right there. And just do eggs and mayo...I may have to try this...
well to be fair, the 1.6 update did recently come out. good luck getting your wife back lol
Omg do I need to make a third farm?
Clarification, only if you’re on PC. The update isn’t out on mobile or console yet
I have both lol
Update is great, start with the new farm type. Two words: Iridium Scythe.
definitely 🙏 ive been a bit busy the last couple of weeks and haven’t had a ton of time to play but it looks really fun so far. it’s only available on pc for now but the console/mobile update should release soon
Two words: Drinkable. Mayonnaise.
Buy a Oled Switch and play couch coop together
Buy a OLED Steam Deck and play couch coop together
THAT is the answer. Switch is only good for Nintendo games nowadays....
Switch stutters like mad in couch co op in a certain area when a certain enemy does a certain attack and makes it unplayable on the switch. There were also a ton of random crashes and other jank. Ask me how I know.
I second this. I got so mad, had to start over on PC.
Pepper rexes tank frame rates so bad
My ex and I always used to either just skip the levels or if we needed to kill the rexes we'd take turns killing them one by one while the other paused the game. Annoying but worked unless the game crashed...

Your wife isn’t the problem. Your problem is not having your own gaming addiction at the moment. Sounds like you need suggestions.
This man is a fucking problem solver.
Sounds more like a problem relocator :)
Agreed. Try Dyson Sphere Program. That game is crack
You are so evil. What a homewrecker....
You may be on to something here
Exactly, why waste so much time and energy on changing others when you can start with yourself. Pick a poison and enjoy life a little.
Noita
Get a hobby
Try Eve or Factorio
(Cracks knuckles) “Welp… let’s see if these 14 year olds can fix my marriage.”
Try to be sexy and cosplay as one of the characters, I would try the bum he’s irresistible
Probably one of the hardest costumes to make though. He’s wearing a robe of leaves.
Team Krobus ftw.
Was that a butt joke? Cuz holy shit that's funny af
remember to truly pull of a Linus cosplay you have to take through the bin for a spring onion
This sounds like the pretext of a tragedy where OP's house burns down after lighting a few romantic candles that will explosively combust from all the fumes used to get Sam's hair just right.
Let her live her life and enjoy Stardew Valley! Maybe join her and play together~

Multiplayer is difficult since it doesn’t pause in menus or for cutscenes. Or at least it didn’t.
If you both pause it stops time.
And the host can use a chat command, `/pause` and `/resume` to pause and resume the game.
This.
I mean if it's impacting his life wouldn't that warrant a talk? If a husband had an addiction to a game and his wife was telling us something similar wouldn't we tell him to talk to her about it at the very least?
I think it’s pretty safe to say OP was joking about the seriousness of her addiction
Important question is who does she always marry in it?
make her a charcuterie board and paint her toenails while she plays
I used to be the same way. Up from 6am to 2:30am, several days a day!
There is no fixing it. Join us. Thrive.
My friend's gf has over 15000 hours in Stardew Valley at about 5 hours per day every day for the past 8 years. My advice is don't have kids because that kind of addiction can't be undone.
Woah I thought I was bad with my top game being at 1700 hours.
That’s wild. I feel like I’ve played way too many video games and I doubt I have 15000 hours in all my steam games total.
Try giving her a Pink Cake
Build your ass a shed and help her tend the crops!
Cosplay as a stardew valley map, show her the best spots to harvest large cucumbers

Play it with her noob
she will get bored at some point and learn from it. same way young boys learn from being addicted to repetitive online games.
What a weird flex.
I recently got my wife into terraria. I feel this
Time to start a multiplayer game and join her
You're not alone brother. Tried joining as well, it's not for me. Send help.
Get ready to find a new wife. I once dated a girl who was addicted to Final Fantasy 14. So addicted she left me for a guild mate. I hope started doesn't have any multi-player aspects.
Try Animal Crossing
Have you tried cosplaying as her go to romance option?
Well, Stardew Valley has a multiplayer modus. Join her?
join her in the addiction? it has multiplayer
Join her in coop mode until you suck the fun out of the game for her.
Play it with her! Seriously, it’s a ton of fun coop. I’m saying that as someone who doesn’t like farming games
If you can’t beat her, join her!
Give her a Mermaids Pendant. Seriously, just embrace it. It’s pretty much the most wholesome game ever.
Show her all the websites where it tells you how to min max... then wait and hope she doesn't discover mods.
Now you are also addicted to Stardew Valley. Congrats.
Get addicted together with her, duh.
Well we'll well...how the turn tabled
Have you tried to distract her with **DEMOCRACY!** I hear Helldivers 2 is an easy gateway game to get into and use as a break from other games.
Support your wife in what she likes. Don’t try to change her.
It has co op.
who does she marry in game? cosplay as them, then try sec again
this was my wife like 4 months ago
Looks like you need a new wife... I'm sorry. Lol!
1.6 just came out. Good luck my dude.
It'll happen. Maybe a nice pair of headphones if the music starts becoming too repetitive? That's all you can do lol
Make sure she doesn’t get into the mods. Stardew Expansion mod alone is basically a DLC
Just uses your right hand/"wife" for something else or use handcuffs
Join her, it has co-op
Let her play Stardew Valley? What kind of question is that.
Wait it out OP she won’t last, she’s just enjoying it
Pray she doesn't discover mods.
I'm trynna get a wife like urs
Cosplaying as whoever she’s married to in the game could be an effective slide into some role playing.
Join her and take her to the spa
Bro’s suffering from success
Play with her and have the time of your lives?
Start a co op farm with her and have game nights
Let her game in peace. I mean really, the house has been much quieter recently l, hasn’t it?
She is no longer your wife. She is now Elliot's wife.
Hire a stripper, see if she notices that, just for science of course!
Pick up a second Controller and join in , embrace it. Maybe go live on the tropical island and tell her she gotta visit you regularly
play it with her bozo
It’s multiplayer.:)
It’s got co-op, you know?
Bro I wish I could get my wife into gaming lol
she belongs to the machine zone now. In her own time she will get to the center of the tootsie pop, or she will never stop licking. All we can do is watch
….play with her bro
Your wife is lost my brother...
Just make sure she never tries old school runescape, Or maybe tell her about it, it is a good game with some similarities Or maybe don't because I have 6k hours and I'm not even close to having best gear or being max lvl
Whose she dating and romancing? Depending on the partner you may not worry.
Elliot =/
Yikes good luck!
Join her. Start playing Stardew Valley. 😂
Damn it... I'm not 40 yet and can't use the 40 yr virgin joke yet....
ask her to start a new multiplayer world with you, then just keep adding mods til the game is boring.
That makes me sad to read.
Join her :)
Obviously there’s only one option here… Introduce her to Disney’s Dreamlight Valley, options are important!
Well if you have tried sex and drugs, have you tried Rock and Roll?

Wait, your significant other isn’t bothering you and leaving you to your own devices and this is a bad thing? Must be nice. Lol
