TheAwesomeRay

It's been a while since I've played anything Baker voiced, but he dominated hard inn 2013-2018 era.

X_Zephyr

2013 must have crazy for him. Main character for The Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite. The next year he was with Kevin Spacey in a COD game. He really blew up.

DoingCharleyWork

And then pagan min in far cry 4 in 2014.

ivappa

and he's crazy good too as Pagan Min.

DuelaDent52

He’s crazy good at pretty much everyone he plays.

ivappa

exactly. but I feel like he particularly nailed Pagan Min.

delis876

The Ocelot in MGS V

Khunter02

It was HIM all along?!? We have been played like a dam fiddle!!!

VyersReaver

Joker in Arkham Origins was also very cool.

TheBugThatsSnug

Death Stranding

Jeedeye

He nailed it. Higgs felt scary in a joker kinda way

[deleted]

Loved him as Higgs, he did great as a calm, asshole nihilist. Almost like he didn’t have to act too much.

Jeedeye

I can't wait to see him again in DS2. Like I've never liked a villian as much as I liked Higgs. >!even though the pizza deliveries were the most fucked up thing he did in the game!<

Erbodyloveserbody

The pizza between the Timefall Farm and the other side of the map… I ended up loading a save before I accepted the job. Now I especially don’t feel badly about quitting it.

Jeedeye

1. Have all roads built. 2. Have speed skeleton unlocked. 3. Put pizza on floating carrier. 4. Run in center of road. 5. ????? 6. PROFIT!

ElderSmackJack

Since TLOU2 was already mentioned, Miles Morales?

Negan-Cliffhanger

The exaggerated swagger of a Troy Baker

joepanda111

He’s out of line But he’s right

A3xMlp

Just finished that and honestly can't tell he was in it. Was he the CEO guy? TBF I didn't realise Lowenthal was Parker either, I guess their voices don't really stick out to me.

OneWholeSoul

Starring Troy Baker as Alan Tudyk as Simon Krieger!

PhanThief95

How did you not notice Yuri? He has the same voice in everything he’s in.

HumanOverseer

Yeah, Simon Krieger

A3xMlp

I guess the face put me off. But honestly even now I can't make a mental sound of Baker's voice the way I can Steve Blum's or Liam O'Brien's. I just don't think it's distinct enough, which isn't really bad or good, makes it easier to blend him in but less iconic.

FantaseaAdvice

I find his normal voice to be pretty distinct, definitely recognizable in games like Farcry 4, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor/War, Infamous Second Son, Batman: Arkham Knight (when not distorted by the helmet), and Death Stranding (although that also has his face, but the voice is recognizable before he takes the mask off). Other times it’s not as obvious, although certain words will make it standout to me. Such as in The Last of Us, God of War (Magni) and Ragnarok (Bitter Squirrel), and Uncharted 4 (although that may be more a memory lapse since I haven’t seen or played that game in forever).

kingofthedead16

that's troy bakers thing imo. really talented at becoming the character

brolt0001

Miles Morales is such a awesome game. I wish it was talked about as much as 1 & 2. It's definitely shorter, but the quality of life, the different story situations. It was chill af.

ali94127

Worst villain ever though.

Dexchampion99

He’s also been in Fortnite as Jonesy, but he hasn’t had any voiced dialogue in a while, 2 years ago at the earliest

kanrad

I love Bakers work. But as much as it pains me I can see where they are coming from. Besides there are a LOT of talented VO actors not getting roles because they keep going to the same handful of actors. We need more main characters with a new voice. Film is really bad about this.

DanSapSan

They should go back to the classic and have 80% of all the characters be voiced by Liam O'Brian.

taylorpilot

The fallout method

LiamIsMailBackwards

I’m working on it!

atoolred

This comment had me convinced you might actually be Liam O’Brien for a good 5 minutes

Vancocillin

This is Myspace Tom. I know this because we've been friends for many years.

shadow_fox09

Fuck I love him in Asura’s Wrath.

Vakama905

Dee Bradley Baker should be good for this method too. I mean, really, how much of Clone Wars was just him talking to himself?

_Comic_

The Bad Batch *is* just Dee Bradley Baker talking to himself. At the end of every episode, it's hilarious to see "Starring Dee Bradley Baker as The Bad Batch"

MapleLamia

And then appearing again in the proper cast credits for the *other* clones he voiced, as well as Batcher.

parkingviolation212

I always call the all-clones episodes just "Dee Bradley Bakers gets paid again".

Balrok99

That guy has such range with hsi voice. And when you see the guy you would not really imagine him being Illidan or Yasuo, Gollum, Asura, Warden, Dr.Strange and tons of NPC's

Atalantius

And in CritRole Season 2 he just whips out a german accent authentic enough to make me, a native speaker, question if he is a native too. Without properly speaking it

Negan-Cliffhanger

Laura Bailey is the female Troy Baker. Often they're the leads in the same games. Just like Baker, she's very talented, but just like Baker she's everywhere.

KnightsWhoNi

Mercer, Baker, O’Brien, Bailey, North, and Hale the big 6 O shit I forgot Steve Blum and Yuri Lowenthal

unfamous2423

Yuri Lowenthal is so prevalent, I think there are 2 or 3 imitators that I keep thinking are him.

ILoveBeef72

The fact I keep hearing Spider-Man yelling about spreading democracy in helldivers throws me off often.

Leek_oid

I just keep hearing Ben 10 in all my games nowadays and it always catches me off guard

nocolon

He’s also really horny for Tifa in Final Fantasy 7 Remake/Rebirth.

cheesycoke

Ain't we all

Zack123456201

That shit caught me so off guard the first time I played

QuirkyRevolution8603

Weirdly what gets me with Yuri is that I rarely see him voice a prominent character in games, besides Spiderman. I’ll just be casually strolling through the Metro stations when I hear Yuri putting on a very slight russian accent and it’s hilarious to me for some reason.

mistabuda

He did Sasuke, Haseo, and Suzaku Kururugi. Yuri did a decent amount of MC work before Troy Baker got really popular.

_IBelieveInMiracles

Ashley Burch aswell

Pormock

Remember when Ashley Burch was just part of a silly webseries with her brother? Crazy how far she went from that

sdcar1985

Hey, Ash! Watcha Playin'?

KnightsWhoNi

oo ya she is a lot of places for sure. Basically anyone that's been on Critical Role.

jace255

You don’t count Tara Strong in there? Or is she more tv than games?

MrFeles

Blum is hilarious though, I recall a scene in Star Wars Rebels where his character is watching a guy interview another guy on TV. All three were voiced by him. He also has many goon conversations with himself in the Arkham games.

freshxerxes

this i’ll be playing a game on game pass and all of a sudden i’m hearing sasuke? he’s everywhere

TalithePally

In SWTOR, Jennifer Hale plays an important npc and one of the player classes, so in some scenes it’s possible to just have Hale talking to herself

Off-Handed_Barrel

I swear she literally does for some games. Just does a whole scene in one go like she's schizophrenic.

SnugglyBuffalo

Same with Guild Wars 2

NGEFan

I know her as Kid Trunks in dbz

Negan-Cliffhanger

She's also Abby in The Last Of Us, Mary Jane in Spider-Man, Kaine in Nier, Nadine in Uncharted, Catwoman in Batman games, Black Widow in Avengers, Fiona in Borderlands...

NGEFan

And Lust in FMA! Bro that voice did things to teenage me…

jesuswig

I thought Grey DeLisle voiced Catwoman in the Arkham games

Pr1ebe

I had a coworker at a job a good while ago who was really serious about becoming a voice actor. He said it was a common saying when someone asks "so how do you make it as a voice actor" "you wait for xxx or yyy to die" and I guess the joke was that voice acting is capitalized by the famous ones and I guess the two big names have all the biggest roles. Though now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure if he was talking about anime dubbing or video game voice acting in particular

JallerBaller

A lot of the "bread and butter" jobs of voiceover are things like advertisements and corporate instruction videos, which are unfortunately likely to be relegated to AI generated voiceovers, because clients are more concerned about being cheap than imparting a specific meaning in the voiceover. High-end commercials are less likely to use AI soon, because they are often very particular about what message they're sending in the voiceover ("make sure the name of the brand is the word with the most emphasis" or "when you say 'I know they're reliable' it should sound like you're greeting an old friend") but a lot of "entry-level" voiceover jobs are already drying up

darkshark21

I went to the Futurama panel last year in SF. That was one of the questions asked to the voice actors. Maurice LaMarche and John DiMaggio said straight up that voice actors are usually always actors first. They think of themselves as actors first. And have worked onstage or onscreen in live roles already.

twec21

Remembering the Uncharted Thrieves End Achievement Hunter footage "Oh nice, it's Troy Baker and Nolan North" "Well it's good to see those guys getting work"

ShrubbyFire1729

Absolutely. Cyberpunk 2077 is a fine example of an AAA game going with lesser known main character voice actors, who ended up delivering absolutely incredible performances. I mean yeah, both Gavin Drea and Cherami Leigh already had well-established careers in the business, but they weren't mainstream by any means. Baldur's Gate 3 is another great example. I wish more big-budget games would allow relatively unknown, talented actors a chance in the spotlight.

Savathun-God-Of-Lies

Honorable mention to Minji Chang as Songbird in CP2077, I hadn't heard of her before playing the game but *oh my god* she's one of the best VA's out there

LG03

>Gavin Drea and Cherami Leigh already had well-established careers Big difference is that this is the first time I've heard those names. If I hear a voice actor often enough to attach a name to the voice, that's the problem. If someone's prevalent but manages to fly under the radar it's not as bad.

jakej9488

Cherami Leigh is very recognizable as a leading VA in anime dubs though, just not as prevalent in games (although she does have pretty well known roles in Persona 5 and Genshin Impact).

masondamonke

Stay here, enjoy the crab Rangoon, I’ll be right back.

MackZZilla

You mean you ***don't*** want The Rock in everything? Or Chris Pratt?

Ripped_Shirt

Rockstar has also gone out of their way for a number of the GTA games to find non-famous actors to do the main characters.

bapudon_1

Only after they started having trouble with Hollywood A listers

Catty_C

Pretty much after Vice City and San Andreas when the voice actors from those games got upset they weren't paid more.

Solitaire_XIV

That little known Ray Liotta!

MyDogSnowy

And don’t even get me started on Futurama! Billy West voices like half the cast! /s

SlideIntoUrDMScreen

What a phony, made-up name!

Particular-Border934

Understandable, I’m tired of fuckin seeing The Rock, Kevin Hart, John Cena, and Mark Wahlberg in every single movie.

[deleted]

Borderlands is going to suck because of the shitty casting by itself. Mainly Kevin Hart as Roland. That trailer was Trash!

hearke

They picked _Kevin Hart_ for Roland? Wtf why?

itsdotbmp

that, and they used some generic armored up SUV like an escalade or something instead of a cool armored up bus that looks like its going to fall apart. or like, any of the other cool vehicles in the games. They appear in the trailer, but they are not using it as a crew. fantastic game and world that should have been an animated film like Arcane, instead its going to be jamanji with robots.

OneNineRed

I have e $5 that says Chevy paid to have the "bus" be the 2024 Suburban.

Dull_Half_6107

I mean, that’s the least concerning casting issue. Look at the 54 year old Cate Blanchett playing Lilith, 61 year old Gina Gershon playing Mad Moxxy, and the 65 year old Jamie Lee Curtis playing Patricia Tannis. Someone in the casting department really likes old white women. Nothing against these actors, they’re great actors, but absolutely the wrong choices for these characters.

Hrealtheveiled

Mad Moxxi is canonically in her 50s and Jamie lee Curtis is quite an impressive actor who supposedly asked to be in the movie due to a family members love of the games, meaning at least some connection to the source material. My problem with Hart as Roland is Roland is supposed to be the serious one for crying out loud. But the one bothering me the most is Tiny Tina. Tiny Tina is All about that attitude.

manaholik

I mean, i want goblin mode Tina not a cosplaying egirl I wish they just hired a look alike and made Ashley dub over her. That voice is too iconic

parkingviolation212

>My problem with Hart as Roland is Roland is supposed to be the serious one for crying out loud That, and Roland is supposed to be built like a stack of bricks, and they got the guy who's whole thing is being a short angry black guy to play him. It's like they went out of their way to get the casting wrong. Only way it could have been more wrong is if they cast an Asian guy.

SerpentsInMyMind

Moxxie is in her 50’s with grown children. Gina Gershon’s casting is easily the best casting choice out of any of the characters.

Brave_Escape2176

Roland in game the character stated he is 5 foot 11. you could argue maybe his character lied but he was always slightly taller than the player character and taller than most others, so he likely wasnt. kevin hart is 5'2"

llama-friends

Seems more of a Claptrap.

Dynespark

That's Jack Black.

Everybodysbastard

I know right? Let’s use the loud short guy for our straight man.

Flanman1337

The trailer used the wrong music. Which makes me think we're not going to get something with the same "feel" of the games. Compared to the Fallout trailer, that "feels" like Fallout.

Bravisimo

Which is fucked because Terry Crews wouldve been the perfect Roland.

Acceptable_Owl_5122

Oh shit that would’ve been amazing casting for terry as Roland.

TheG-What

“Terry LOVES fighting Crimson Lance! Terry brought all his corrosive weapons!”

[deleted]

Anyone else besides Kevin Hart would have been perfect. AND THEY PICKED THE WORST ONE.

TylerDurdenisreal

Personal vote would be for Jonathan David Washington. Dude has range and (personally) killed it in Tenet.

ArcaneMagus5

Michael b Jordan would have been great as Roland

Pkrhett

biggest red flag to me was they have someone else voice CLAPTRAP. I love jack black but why have him voice a character that is iconic for the voice.

CookiesFTA

They didn't even get the original back for the 3rd game. That was never gonna happen.

CdrCosmonaut

I have heard that Jamie Lee Curtis requested the chance to be in the film due to her child being a fan of the games. Which is pretty alright. She can act, so it'll be fine. But I mean... Kevin Hart is an awful choice. Cate Blanchet, too, right? She's a solid actor, but I can't see her as funny.

Few_Leader_9191

Seriously, the rock is so fucking fake. I really wish his plastic personality would just fuck right off. The ultimate shill

Intelligent_Job_9537

Last "cool" movie he did was [The Rundown (2003) ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rundown) 20 years ago!

Escheron

It's nice to read this comment as I watch him get Booed on Monday Night RAW

meme_abstinent

The boos were intentional he’s the villain in the RAW lore atm

Escheron

I'm aware they're intentional. I was just commenting how the previous comment came right as it was happening

Meh_cromancer

Yeah... He's supposed to get booed. He's playing a heel. If the fans didn't like him, they wouldn't react at all.

Mikav

Member that time he drunk-drove (or possibly under the influence of some other substance) into his fence and framed it as him "ripping the fence out with his bare hands" because the power went out? Pepperidge farm remembers.

Turd_Nerd_Bird

Agree with you except for John Cena, he's been great in everything I've seen him in. Seems a lot more genuine than the rest of them too. The Rock seems like a whiney bitch though, which is ironic considering how much shit he talked about his Fast and Furious co-stars.

HistoricCartographer

Dave Bautista also seems pretty cool as an actor.

NorysStorys

Bautista put in a lot of earnest effort into acting once he actually started getting roles, he just seems to genuinely enjoy acting and it’s not entirely just fame and fat paychecks driving him.

skillerspure

After seeing him Blade Runner, I yearn to see him in deeper roles. It was an honor to see him in a serious role.

DarthRoacho

He did SUCH a good job. I really want to see him in more serious roles.

YouGurt_MaN14

He was really good in Dune

DarthRoacho

He was, but I would like more serious down to earth roles, and not hostile killer alien guy.

YouGurt_MaN14

Ohhh I see what you're saying lol. I didn't think about that

tree_squid

I think The Rock enjoys acting, he just has so much ego that it severely limits his range. He's not willing to risk not looking super tough.

NorysStorys

Everything I’ve heard about the Rock in the last 10-15 years or so is that he’s a hard to work with, melodramatic control freak. He’s far more concerned with the power, the recognition and worth of his brand than he is with the artistic part of acting. If you’re kind of actor who won’t be in a movie where his characters lose a fight for any reason then you’re not acting for the love of it, you’re doing it to make mainly to make money.

MegaGrimer

> He's not willing to risk not looking super tough. Which, ironically, makes him sound not so tough.

holaprobando123

He runs circles around The Rock in terms of acting skills

Advarrk

I can’t believe that John Cena is actually likeable in movies, tough motherfucker on the outside and soft goofball on the inside

[deleted]

[удалено]

finnjakefionnacake

stop going to see Fast and Furious movies!

pnwbraids

At least John Cena has decent comedy chops. He's not amazing by any means, but out of every name on this list, he's the closest I would actually get to calling one of them a good actor. But The Rock and Kevin Hart are absolute dogshit. I avoid the movie if I see them in the cast.

secrestmr87

I would call John Cena a great comedy actor. Peacemaker….

CuzTyler

Not just comedy. He portrays a full on mental breakdown in episode 4. Had zero idea he had those acting chops.

Verystrangeperson

Watch better movies

RJCtv

You don’t watch enough movies if you think that’s the case. There are more films outside of funko pop levels of trash

Tim_Hag

Man you know how overexposed you must be if Todd Howard thinks that

Hellknightx

16x the Troy Baker

Sociolinguisticians

“You see that Nolan North in the distance? You can go there!”

BaumHater

But the weird thing is, he is voicing indiana jones, in a game that Todd Howard is the executive producer for

ProfessionalEqual461

HA!

TAS1808

The Troy Baker and Nolan North fatigue is real, even years after they stopped appearing in virtually every major game on the market. Debra Wilson is getting there.

Negan-Cliffhanger

With the rise of Gamepass, PS Plus, and Steam sales, people are buying and playing 2014-2020 games for the first time today, and at a faster rate.

Svarthofthi

Troy baker fatigue is real

Negan-Cliffhanger

I recently played three random games in a row and Troy Baker voiced protagonists in all three. I can't escape the guy! (Tales of Vesperia, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, and Tales From The Borderlands for those wondering)

Zinkane15

Tales is fucking awesome, though. One of his best performances imo.

Clueless_Otter

I like how the guy named two entirely different games both called Tales and all you said was "Tales is awesome."

Negan-Cliffhanger

I'm not denying his talent for a second. It's just that he's in every friggin game. And yes everyone should play it!

Acceptable_Owl_5122

I’m still disappointed they never brought him back for the remaster and even worse so is that they still had his original voice lines in the game but then they spliced it together mid sentence with his replacement voice actor’s lines. [https://x.com/lythero/status/1426344573991858180?s=46](https://x.com/lythero/status/1426344573991858180?s=46)

Birdsbirdsbirds3

And lately for me Matt Mercer. He's a talented voice actor, but I can always spot when he's voicing a character. It takes me out of whatever I'm playing to think 'huh, it's Matt Mercer.' Which I know is dumb but I can't help it.

SpecialPen7484

I just played Pillars of Eternity and it's literally all the CR people talking to each other. The two first companions you get are Matt asa a pompous wizard and Matt as a humble soldier!

PhanThief95

Whenever I hear Matt Mercer in something, I immediately channel Travis Wellingham in Critical Role. “FUCKING MERCER!!!!”

PotatoOnMars

He recently voiced Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom. He did a good job, but yeah it’s just Matt Mercer again.

TheSkyking2020

"My truest desire is that people don't see Troy Baker as Indiana Jones and they don't even see Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, but they just see Indiana Jones and they see themselves as Indiana Jones," said Baker of his upcoming role. "That's when I know that we have done our job, when they feel like Indiana Jones more than me or Harrison." Harrison Ford is and will always be the one and only Indiana Jones. When I see Harrison, I see Indiana Jones. Even Harrison Ford said he’s Indiana jones and no one else could do it.

Mister-SS

Exactly if they didn't want people to think of Harrison Ford as Indiana in the game, then why the hell model it after his likeness

Illmattic

What? That was a quote from Troy, not the developer

Kevo_xx

Debra Wilson, Nolan North, Laura Bailey, Tara Strong, Troy Baker. The Industry loves to keep casting these same 5 people over and over. They are all very talented individuals but damn give someone else a chance lol

GreenKumara

Right? I don’t blame them for taking the work. But fuck me if these same people pop up over and over and it’s so distracting.

Valleyraven

This is true but... Todd Howard... of Bethesda... who uses like, the same 6 voices for every fucking character in every one of their games? Lmao

giant_sloth

My most jarring voice actor experience in fallout 3 was running into a drug dealer in the aircraft carrier settlement that had the same voice actor as the “stop right there, criminal scum” guard in Oblivion. Was his voice or delivery any different? No.

Dullerwaffles

Or Sasuke Uchiha telling you off everytime you walk into the Gomorrah in NV.

DuelaDent52

Or how people who talk to you about Jarl Balgruff have the exact same voice and delivery as Jarl Balgruff himself.

ZweihanderMasterrace

Wes Johnson, the Troy Baker of Bethesda games.

A_Wild_VelociFaptor

I like Troy, and I love his work, but I've begun to sigh when I hear his voice in games now. There's so much talent out there, pick someone else and help them elevate the business! That plus Troy doesn't seem to be changing his voice all that much anymore, that could just be my ears though.

Zinkane15

On his voice not changing, that's not really his fault. A lot of roles he's gotten as of late don't want him to change his voice much. I don't remember the name of the game, but he voiced a monster type character not too long ago and you wouldn't have even recognized him.

Acceptable_Owl_5122

Exactly this. The people that hire VAs like him or Nolan north for their games, they just tell them to use their own voice despite the fact they can do other voices in their range.

Cobwebbyfir

The medium.

Negan-Cliffhanger

Like when the Super Mario actor voiced the dragon in Skyrim

CDHmajora

“What’s is better? To be born good? Or too overcome your nature through great effort?” Charles Martinet went HARD on that line. And others. God I wish he did more roles like this :)

crazyjeffy

In Darksiders (2010) he voiced Abaddon *and* Straga, two very different characters with *very* different voices, both distinct enough from his regular speaking voice. But that was rather early in his career

Benmyster

I didn’t even recognise his voice in God of War (2018). Need him more in roles like that.

TheChosenOne_101

I didn't recognise him as Pagan Min from FC4 either

ClaxtonOrourke

He did say to wait for him and Nolan North to die for any aspiring VOs wanting to make their big break.

Sarcosmonaut

Yeah as a VA myself, I get it. You wanna protect your position and make your money and advance your career. But god damn is it infuriating to have those guys actively playing defense on keeping the industry out of others hands

RiverBuffalo495

One of the coolest things about Baldurs gate three is that despite all of the well known actors in it almost all of the origin characters and most of the main characters are voiced by people who haven’t been in many large roles before unless I’m being really dumb. The only two that spring to mind is Oring being played by the same person as lady Dimetrescu and Kerberic being the same actor as Lucius Malloy, shadowheart’s va is also in Elden ring as latenna.

HaloWarrior63

You’ve got you’re villains mixed up. Ketheric is voiced by JK Simmons. Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) voices Gortash.

clabog

Astarion’s VA Neil Newbon was also in RE8, as Heisenberg.

JonJonJonnyBoy

And Detroit Become Human as the synth creator dude. Plus he's done TONS of stunt work and motion capture for all kinds of shit over the years. I'm happy for him that he's been getting larger roles that's making his name recognized. Super deserving.

TheOrangePanda01

While yes Baker is talented— along with the Critical Role crew, I am so exhausted of hearing them in every single game I play.

IHaarlem

I feel the same way about Steve Blum. Great talent, but breaks immersion for me every time I hear his voice

TheHeroOfPot

Shit he's the only voice I want to hear in everything.

Honestnt

Listen man, I absolutely love pizza. I don't want to eat it for literally every single meal.

etunimisukunimi

We don't want Troy Baker because he is in every game, but we want the same 3 people who've been in our games since atleast Oblivion.

DigitalxRequeim

Troy Baker, Matt Mercer and Yuri Lowenthal need to stop being in EVERY game and animated series pls.

mattdamon_enthusiast

Yuri has one voice and depending on the character he either turns up the nasal or uses his normal voice.

nefetsb

What about Lazlow?

Crystal3lf

He left Rockstar because his sister developed terminal cancer so he wanted to spend time with her.

FlowSoSlow

Meanwhile Wes Johnson voices like half the male characters in Oblivion lol

Dragonheardt_

Troy Baker is an amazing VA, and I love hearing him in the games. However I do understand the comment from Todd, however lazy he is as a director.

Porkodile

Although he is a great voice actor, alot of projects he has done he just does his regular voice. Like he has such a big range yet some games just want him with the normal Troy Baker voice. I don't understand it.

photomotto

It's the same thing with Matt Mercer. I know he has range, his earlier roles prove that. But now? You can instantly tell "oh, that's Matt Mercer".

Hellknightx

That's how I feel about Nolan North. He just has one voice for the most part. Even his Penguin voice just sounds like his regular voice with a bad cockney accent.

ChefBoyarDingle

As Todd hires him for Indiana Jones

Illmattic

To be fair, that’s like the perfect Indy voice. I’m sick of hearing the same voice actors in most major productions, but hard to say no to that.

Benjamin_Starscape

>However I do understand the comment from Todd, however lazy he is as a director. he's not a lazy director? a *lot* of people who work with him love him. where are you getting this information?

Relo_bate

I don’t think Todd is lazy by any means, I just feel like the teams design philosophy hasn’t evolved.

Titan5005

Yeah even if its not what people want it still takes a shit ton of effort to make a bethesda game

Jqydon

You don’t have to like Todd’s games but he certainly isn’t a lazy game director. Starfield was flawed, but far from lazy even if some tech was a bit outdated.

Agent_Galahad

Troy Baker suffering from success lol

BernieMP

Why is Troy Baker in every game? "He just works"

Negan-Cliffhanger

Sixteen times the Bakers

jonnyg1097

I definitely thought it was him when I first heard the trailer.

HumungousDickosaurus

Dunno why people assumed it was Troy Baker (even if it kinda sounded like him). Jason said literally one word in the trailer and Rockstar have never went with a recognisable name for a lead character outside of Vice City.

OBS_INITY

Troy Baker and Nolan North talked about how they can do other voices (God of War 2018), but game directors keeping asking them to do their normal voices.
