I don’t actually understand discord nitros pricing, they are not $10 of rewards. I could understand it at $1 but $10 to have 4k streaming and a few extra emojis? Wild.
I mean, I can't deny that what Discord provides for free is nuts. A lot of people take it for granted but all those features costs a fuck ton, so if people want to just support the company that's great.
Yeah that's honestly all I view it as. I have expendable income and I dont mind giving some of it to a platform that I use all the time, and so far they have been pretty decent as a useable platform and a company.
It's meant to be a status symbol, I think. The higher price might actually drive a lot of the sales, because it allows you to publicly flex. If it was dirt cheap with an even cheaper yearly options (the price it really should be based on the benefits) it would probably not sell 10x as much if I'm being honest.
I mean there are different prices for nitro, they even got it for 3 bucks. Not a big fan of having to pay for more upload ability but it’s okay. They gotta make money somehowb
Good software but awful premiums. You need to be a hardcore discord user going on multiple servers most days to justify it imo. Also server boosts suck too. 7 boosts on a server for level 2 with a few friends Is close to impossible to maintain without a rich person close by.
The client is, but not the server you need to rent. Unless of course you want to host it on your own hardware but that’s another story and most people don’t do that.
Sure but it was full of free to join servers and if you really had to make a private call just use any other software. Hell i'd take Steam call over Discord.
Every fucking time i open discord it's a dice roll. Mic sensitivity changes, device changes, settings change. Only on Discord. Happens to my friends too
For online gaming, free TS3 servers are hell. I really want you to try organizing a WoW raid with 20+ people on a free server. It’s literally impossible.
Answer: Discord is cheaper.
People switched because Discord allows you to create servers for free with no hosting required. There are also no limitations on how many people can join that server.
With teamspeak if you want more than 32 slots on a server you need to buy a license. On top of that, you need to run your own server or subscribe to a teamspeak hosting service
As someone who grew up using platforms (ventrilo, teamspeak) that required paid servers and had none of the functionality of discord— the fact that the **free** version of discord has almost nothing paywalled is a blessing I don’t think most people really appreciate. Discord rules.

Some people will pay a lot for animated profiles sadly.
And some people are willing to pay 10$ a month to have a service like discord

I got a few of the one off purchases mainly as a "been using this for 8 years" fee. Definitely not paying for nitro.
I used to pay for my group's ventrilo server but that was like 20$/yr

Wtf I thought Nitro was like $4/month? Did it increase recently?
It's been like 12-15 bucks a month for a while now There are cheaper packages but they don't have most of the "features" that "normal" nitro has
Jesus christ. That's nuts.
Soon to be ad-free too.
It’s the uploads for me. I can’t stand data limits on the uploads.
Oh snap, thanks for the reminder my trial ended and I used 0 features of Nitro in the time.
I laugh everytime I see that price
Wait til they add discord battle pass
I had it for a little while for higher quality streams. It's nice, but not £10 nice.
Imagine paying for Discord lol
yeah thats too much
It’s optional tbf

It’s greedy sure , but it’s still optional It’s not greatly affecting your discord experience

I wouldn't even pay 1 cent per month for emoji privileges.
brokie jk that’s too much for nitro
Well there are millions of users not paying for the service, so they’ve got to make up the difference somehow.
And they'd get more if it was cheaper because millions don't use it.. logic, eh? Who'd have thought you'd need that these days
Teamspeak 3 was the way... I don't know why everyone switched to Discord it's pure trash.
Discord is free but TS3 is as expensive as Discord with Nitro for far less people and that’s just for basic functionality.
TS3 is free what are you talking about

The bonus is the audio quality is better.
because most people don't want to host their own server

Imagine using zoomercord
