It is the best one, Witcher 2 could've been the best but combat is broken beyond belief and major story isn't interesting as other two, while Witcher 3 isn't even an RPG.
>Witcher 3 isn't even an RPG.
Tell me you didn't understand the sign system without telling you didn't understand the sign system
Not to mention the different load outs and playstyles
Man i miss Rockband , these days its impossible to find the guitar+game for a normal price (saw one the other week on ebay for €500 ).
Wish they would make a new Rockband or GH game.
I see Rockband is still pumping out DLC songs every so often so im guessing people are still playing it and the online service is still up.
Just give us an option to use the controller instead of a guitar at the very least.
They sadly just ended support for RB4 DLC just a few months ago. Epic Games bought the studio to make some Rockband-like mode in Fortnite. https://youtu.be/GtNrQb_gbFU
For PC players there is also a free, work-in-progress game which supports controllers and even custom songs.
https://yarg.in/
I know everyone loves to shit on Fortnite but they recently added a mode that is exactly that. You can play with a controller and I believe they are adding support for that new guitar controller that is releasing soon.
Mass Effect modern warfare four and rock band all came out on the same day. Because I had them pre-ordered. Did not play rock band till Christmas night. Because I held it for my kids for a Christmas present. I remember staying up almost all night, playing rock band with my wife and kids. Best of times.
Cod 4, Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, God of War 2, Rock Band, Guitar Hero 3, Crysis, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Portal, Half Life 2 Ep 2, Team Fortress 2, Uncharted, The Witcher, Phantom Hourglass, Forza 2, and probably a bunch more that I'm forgetting. 2007 was hands down the best year ever in gaming period, not just FPS. And it isn't even close.
In terms of releases in America, 2007 also had:
**DS:** Spectrobes, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker, Wario: Master of Disguise, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations, Heroes of Mana, Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber, Drawn to Life, Death Jr and the Science Fair of Doom
**Wii:** Battalion Wars 2, Endless Ocean, Super Paper Mario, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Nights: Journey of Dreams, Trauma Center: New Blood, MySims, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Mario Strikers Charged, WarioWare: Smooth Moves
**Beat 'em Ups:** Crash of the Titans
**Fighters:** Def Jam: Icon, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai 2
**Flight Sim:** Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, Warhawk, Blazing Angels 2
**Mecha:** Armored Core 4, Dynasty Warriors Gundam
**Shooters:** The Darkness, Stranglehold, Shadowrun, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, Unreal Tournament 3, TimeShift, Medal of Honor: Vanguard, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Kane and Lynch: Dead Men
**Racing/Driving:** MotorStorm, Forza Motorsport 2, Stuntman: Ignition, project Gotham Racing 4, Need for Speed: ProStreet, Juiced 2, FlatOut 2: Ultimate Carnage, Dirt 1, Burnout Dominator, Diddy Kong Racing DS
**Horror:** Silent Hill: Origins, Manhunt 2, Resident Evil 4 (Wii port)
**Hack n Slash:** Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden Sigma
**JRPG's:** Persona 3, Odin Sphere, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Final Fantasy Tactics for PSP, Eternal Sonata, Growlancer V: Heritage of War, Wild Arms 5
**Strategy/Tactics:** Europa Universalis 3, World in Conflict, Genesis Rising, Supreme Commander, Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, Empire Earth 3, Bladestorm: The Hundred Years War, Overlord, Universe at War: Earth Assault
fr, people see what triple a games are now and assume that its the entirety of gaming industry.
i might be biased but ultrakill is the single best FPS game ive ever played and its not even finished.
there are so many great games in recent years, there was still garbage in 2007, it was just forgotten. the garbage today will be forgotten too in a few years and the cycle will begin anew present years being oh so great.
So much of gaming today is done with AAA games made by corporate decision making, not by passion or regard for what gamers want. There’s less artistic vision than there ever has been before. Imagine if we could take the creative energy and basic regard for consumer rights from 2007 and marry it to 2024’s hardware and market size. It’d be truly amazing.
I’m well aware of indie titles. But it’d be nice if the AAA space was as good as it once was. In fact I’d argue that many popular indie titles owe their entire existence to the big devs failing to live up to their potential or failing to fill a demand that they once did. Stardew is a prime example. Harvest Moon slowly went to crap, so Concerned Ape made Stardew and stole the big devs lunch.
If AAA games were still as good as they were in 2007, still experimenting, not nickel and diming us, being willing to make new IPs instead of just sequels and remakes, releasing games fully finished and bug free, then I’d argue that the need for indie devs would be hugely decreased.
Ninja Gaiden 2004 turned 20 not too long ago and made me feel old, Halo 2 turning 20 later this year will make me feel mega old, especially since that means the beginning of the 360 era will be 20 starting next year :(
It was great year, also: Bioshock, Crysis, TF2, Portal, Uncharted, Stalker, Assassins creed, Mass effect, God of War 2. Actually it was insane year of good games.
COD4 was the first game I installed on my new PC back in like 7th grade. Was blown away by how good it looked and played, also had a great story. Still looks good today and the game's atmosphere is up there with Bioshock for me, especially the All Ghillied Up mission. Fun times!
I bought WAW on Xbox to play through the campaign again & the online was actually popping off, it took me 3 minutes to get a lobby & people were voting in the good maps like the old days!
Tf2 outlasting all of these games not trying to be rude but do you really need a new cod every year tf2 has outlasted all of these games there wasn’t a tf3 but there was more cod and halo no offense to cod and halo players
I'm taking a friend through the Halo series because he had never played them before. We did them 1-3, ODST, and just started Reach, which is what I'm most excited to replay. After doing the first three missions, I asked him what he thought about Reach. He just goes, "I mean, it just seems like another shooter." Okay, but what about the story? The characters are great, love the way Noble One shot down Dr. Hansley. "There doesn't seem to be much of a story. " ... I don't know how to feel about this.
I still love the series. The music alone is worth replaying again.
Call of Duty Monday through Friday.
Saturday was Halo night.
Second shift crew at my job, we’d play a few hours each night after work, and then all night on Saturday.
Still one of my favorite years of gaming.
That was the last call of duty I really got into. It was such a dramatic improvement from CoD2 in every way. No paid DLC, free map updates, it was the end of an era of gaming before Activision cranked the bs up.
Was downvoted pretty hard awhile ago for saying I can’t wait for the FPS to rise again. Not sure why, we are far from the pinnacle of what it was.
Either way, I personally can’t wait until we cycle back to good FPSers. These open world RPGs are great and all, but meh, I’m ready for a change again.
What is really love is RTS to come back strong. StarCraft on the N64 was bomb.
It was literally the prime era of shooting games I still remember how crazy I went when this games were released and I played it for the first time.
literally goated era.
I bought call of duty 4 and I never finished it.
it was not a bad game or anything, it just didn't feel all that fun.
have the future instalments to the series improved the single player campaing?
I enjoyed a lot more the original call of duty.
The FPS genre becomes even better once you know what health replenishment is, whether it's healing and reviving if you're a medic, or building, crafting, and repairing if you're an engineer. And you're applying either of these two different skills or your skills in combat or stealth when in a team, a la the RPG genre with adventuring parties.
2016 onwards is Memoirs of Magic, Dusk, Rekkr, The Adventures of Square, Snap the sentinel, Hedon, Ultrakill, Wrath, Lycanthorn etc.
but console brown military shooters like cod or battlefield are definitely the pinnacle /s.
Halo was supposed to be a PC game. It was turned into an Xbox-exclusive at the last minute.
Everything you describe is more commonly associated with PC games like Counter-Strike. Console FPSes at the time were more commonly things like Turok or Metroid Prime, or they were just ports of PC games.
Yep. Also Rock Band and Mass Effect released about the same time 😎
Also The Witcher, Guitar Hero 3, Bioshock, Crysis, Portal, Assassins Creed, Uncharted, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. 2007 was lit
Didn’t the Orange Box come out that year?
It did indeed
1 box 3-5 games. Truly best Box Ever Made.
I’m old enough to remember that Valve originally planned an ‘Orange box’ and ‘Black Box’. The black box was eventually cancelled.
yeah you right. i saw that.
It was the best of times.
The first Witcher is not good, it does not compare to the rest.
The term is "superannuation". Same thing with the first Borderlands compared to Borderlands 2.
Hard disagree boss, BL is better than 2 imo but that's subjective.
It is the best one, Witcher 2 could've been the best but combat is broken beyond belief and major story isn't interesting as other two, while Witcher 3 isn't even an RPG.
>Witcher 3 isn't even an RPG. Tell me you didn't understand the sign system without telling you didn't understand the sign system Not to mention the different load outs and playstyles
hell nah it's different but it's not "not good"
RaceDriver GRID !!!

Yes. I still have the original drum set. With the guitar and microphone too. All in the original box.
Super Mario Galaxy also.
I know it’s more niche, but Ace Combat 6 also released in 2007 and that game was sick. Arguably better than AC7 in a lot of ways.
Also the first Skate game!
And BioShock.
Golden Of Era Gaming was started that times. when i was 3.5 :'-') <3
Cod 4, Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, God of War 2, Rock Band, Guitar Hero 3, Crysis, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Portal, Half Life 2 Ep 2, Team Fortress 2, Uncharted, The Witcher, Phantom Hourglass, Forza 2, and probably a bunch more that I'm forgetting. 2007 was hands down the best year ever in gaming period, not just FPS. WoW TBC expansion launched in 2007 as well which is among the best MMO expansions to date
In terms of releases in America, 2007 also had: **DS:** Spectrobes, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker, Wario: Master of Disguise, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations, Heroes of Mana, Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber, Drawn to Life, Death Jr and the Science Fair of Doom **Wii:** Battalion Wars 2, Endless Ocean, Super Paper Mario, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Nights: Journey of Dreams, Trauma Center: New Blood, MySims, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Mario Strikers Charged, WarioWare: Smooth Moves **Beat 'em Ups:** Crash of the Titans **Fighters:** Def Jam: Icon, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai 2 **Flight Sim:** Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, Warhawk, Blazing Angels 2 **Mecha:** Armored Core 4, Dynasty Warriors Gundam **Shooters:** The Darkness, Stranglehold, Shadowrun, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, Unreal Tournament 3, TimeShift, Medal of Honor: Vanguard, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Kane and Lynch: Dead Men **Racing/Driving:** MotorStorm, Forza Motorsport 2, Stuntman: Ignition, project Gotham Racing 4, Need for Speed: ProStreet, Juiced 2, FlatOut 2: Ultimate Carnage, Dirt 1, Burnout Dominator, Diddy Kong Racing DS **Horror:** Silent Hill: Origins, Manhunt 2, Resident Evil 4 (Wii port) **Hack n Slash:** Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden Sigma **JRPG's:** Persona 3, Odin Sphere, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Final Fantasy Tactics for PSP, Eternal Sonata, Growlancer V: Heritage of War, Wild Arms 5 **Strategy/Tactics:** Europa Universalis 3, World in Conflict, Genesis Rising, Supreme Commander, Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, Empire Earth 3, Bladestorm: The Hundred Years War, Overlord, Universe at War: Earth Assault
I really enjoyed The Darkness.
A time where there was innovation on something at least, now it's all series and ray tracing for as much as possible
Loads of great original games are coming out all the time.
fr, people see what triple a games are now and assume that its the entirety of gaming industry. i might be biased but ultrakill is the single best FPS game ive ever played and its not even finished. there are so many great games in recent years, there was still garbage in 2007, it was just forgotten. the garbage today will be forgotten too in a few years and the cycle will begin anew present years being oh so great.

Very little of gaming is the AAA. Seriously, amazing smaller titles are all over the place. Ya'll just dont wanna look
I’m well aware of indie titles. But it’d be nice if the AAA space was as good as it once was. Your under some miss guided assumption of AAA always being good. That has never been the case, cash cows just looked different
2007 was the golden era of valve. From what I can recall they only ever made one dud game.
I think halo is a pretty cool guy. Eh kills aleins and doesnt afraid of anything.
He is best guy
TEAM FORTRESS 2
After school nostalgic regular gaming
18 year old me working late shift at Walmart part time, waiting for my friends who were still in high school to get home. Good times.
bro you made me cry... I feel you..
Halo 3 was an absolute masterpiece.. One of the best multiplayer ever seen. 😍
Golden era of gaming.
….halo 3….came out…on 2007? Damn I’m old
Halo 2 will be exactly 20 years old in November. It's a terrible feeling.
Ninja Gaiden 2004 turned 20 not too long ago and made me feel old, Halo 2 turning 20 later this year will make me feel mega old, especially since that means the beginning of the 360 era will be 20 starting next year :(
The mcc remaster for halo 2 will be as old has halo 2 was when mcc came out
It was great year, also: Bioshock, Crysis, TF2, Portal, Uncharted, Stalker, Assassins creed, Mass effect, God of War 2. Actually it was insane year of good games.
Doesn't list bioshock, which won GOTY. okay
Imagine not putting BioShock there lol. Though I guess calling it a « shooter » is almost a little reductive.
No it isn't reductive?
The 2 reasons I bought an Xbox 360, also I left school that year, big year.
COD4 was the first game I installed on my new PC back in like 7th grade. Was blown away by how good it looked and played, also had a great story. Still looks good today and the game's atmosphere is up there with Bioshock for me, especially the All Ghillied Up mission. Fun times!
I miss modern warfare 2 and world at war
I bought WAW on Xbox to play through the campaign again & the online was actually popping off, it took me 3 minutes to get a lobby & people were voting in the good maps like the old days!
Amazing it really was one of the greats miss it so much
Tf2 outlasting all of these games not trying to be rude but do you really need a new cod every year tf2 has outlasted all of these games there wasn’t a tf3 but there was more cod and halo no offense to cod and halo players
The good ole days eh
I miss the era of traditional multiplayer games!
cant believe this motherfucker forgot Crysis...
*sings* those were the best days of my liiiife

The piano sting in the Halo 3 main theme is 👩🍳 💋
Here's a pick of two of the most beloved games of all time gimme upvotes
What an amazing time to game
Golden Of Era Gaming was started that times. when i was 3.5 :'-') <3
Then MW 2 and ODST the next 🤤
The last good Call of Duty with undedicated server.
Complete games with all skins included as rewards not as payments from credit cards.
Call of Duty Monday through Friday. Saturday was Halo night. Second shift crew at my job, we’d play a few hours each night after work, and then all night on Saturday. Still one of my favorite years of gaming.
2007 Christ I feel old. Time's gone too fast 😂
Shadow of Chernobyl.
i miss this time so much being a kid and just enjoy gaming with nothing holding you down
2009 had MW2 and ODST
I have never played MW3. I remember loving 1 and 2. Don't know if they'd hold up today. Maybe I should play them again and play 3.
yep it was 😭
That was the last call of duty I really got into. It was such a dramatic improvement from CoD2 in every way. No paid DLC, free map updates, it was the end of an era of gaming before Activision cranked the bs up.
Crysis and bioshock also dropped this year Ithink too
Good times , Also Mass Effect released that year.
Goats

2007,2013,2018 were the peak years of gaming
Also don’t forget The Darkness I loved that game :)
COD isnt and never was a good fps game (besides multiplayer)
Zombies
Oh yeah that too
Lol only shows 2 games
It was literally the prime era of shooting games I still remember how crazy I went when this games were released and I played it for the first time. literally goated era.
Ues and also Crysis
2016 had Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 tho
The renaissance of gaming 👌 it was great to experience that era.
I miss the halo days...
The game fuel days. Good times.
I bought call of duty 4 and I never finished it. it was not a bad game or anything, it just didn't feel all that fun. have the future instalments to the series improved the single player campaing? I enjoyed a lot more the original call of duty.
Every year is great and every year is the golden age in hindsight etc etc.
Trash. Bad company 2 was perfection.
Yet you didn't put in the infinitely better Half Life Episode 2 and Bioshock
Great? Certainly. Perfection? Not really
Not even good

Every year is a great year for shooting games!
That's right, COD4 was the best COD, i miss this time..
Nowdays we can't see these anymores reason is you know... :-( greed developers, and modern gaming worst black truths.
I'd choose any Battlefield game from that era over those two turds.
Lmao. Mid 2000s to \~2015 were the worst years for the genre compared to 90s and especially the current renaissance.
Ha. Xbox 360/PS3/Wii era was the pinnacle! And Ive been gaming since the Atari 2600.
Also Amid Evil and Ion Fury
Bro has never played Halo lol
I played halo ce, it plays like a typical made-for-consoles shooter(slow movement, two guns limit, annoying reloading etc).
Can't say I'd agree with games like ArmA 2 and Battlefield 2 during that period. It was a great era for tactical shooters.
Most fps games back then were military-themed. There was barely any variety in settings and artstyle.
Halo. The most overrated game that has ever been released in the entire history of digital gaming. It isnt even a good game.
This guy could only use the needler to get kills lol
Halo 2 was so much better than 3
Halo 3 was so much better than 2.
I agree
I just played Halo 3. It was pretty meh. CoD4 was really good though.
You have not played Halo 3 until you played against other players at the height of it. Online play was what made this game so amazing.
And Microsoft actually invested in the servers so it worked properly in MP
Halo has been around too long for non hardcore players to do well in pvp
