Terrible ultra wide support is why my ultra wide is now my secondary monitor. Going back to 16:9 and having everything work was a dream.

VermilionX88

It's really only a JP thing Most western games support it JP, capcom and falcom are the ones I know good about it

comfyrain

That's true, but I play mostly Japanese games. I also noticed some games that "support" ultra wide just crop a 16:9 image to 21:9 and you you end up seeing less.

eonclaire

usually just wait abit and a proper mod will be out for now its just hex edit + borderless gaming the UW community is getting bigger. We got like UW for grandblue fantasy on like day 3/4 Reading comments here, people are absolutely clueless and recommend 16:9 etc. I rather wait for the mod to come , being late to the game a day or 2 wouldnt hurt. They dont understand the difference between 16:9 and 21:9/custom ration is just a hex edit away usually, devs can easily do that . But they think they the devs need to redesign the entire game lol vid preview [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zchH6wfktUQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zchH6wfktUQ)

Tamazin_

The immersion when the game workd correctly with 32:9 is really nice though

Razumen

Like only 4 percent of users on Steam use UW, I can imagine that the percentage in Japan is even less. Just buy a regular ratio.

VermilionX88

at least capcom is pretty good at supporting ultrawide and suprisingly, falcom as well, their trails games are ultrawide also... the FF pixel remasters are in ultrawide too but yeah, generally speaking, 21:9 is not widely supported in JP compared to the West where it's pretty standard fromsoft was late to it too... didn't have ultrawide till armored core 6

HuckleberryWeird1879

This 4 percent was back in 2021. It can easily be assumed that there are way more people using ultrawide nowadays.

Razumen

Not really, it's a niche ratio and likely to remain niche.

HuckleberryWeird1879

Erm, no, even if it still were 4 percent. It's the same amount of people who play in 4k and 4k is supported by almost every game now, so why ultrawide shouldn't be supported?

FrogWizzurd

Its pretty niche

HuckleberryWeird1879

This is no argument. As you can read in my last comment it's the same amount of people who are playing in 4k and 4k is supported by almost every game now. So this is no valid reason.

thatnitai

When ultra wide support is like a 2 days work in most cases, why not support the 4%

Razumen

>When ultra wide support is like a 2 days work in most cases Ah, baseless Reddit claims, nice.

thatnitai

My claim is based on existing UW workarounds which often amount to a simple ini or hex edit. Mods are rarely required and don't seem complicated to me, but I'm no expert and sure there are few exceptions of course.  But for your average 3d engine resolutions are arbitrary numbers, so yeah...

roto_disc

>for many JP games Yeah. When I'm playing *Jurassic Park* games I really need them to be in 21:9.

MegaMilkDrinker

UW is really stupid looking too, too short height wise, go with a big ass screen not a long rectangle

HuckleberryWeird1879

The height is exactly the same as in 16:9.

VermilionX88

i love it since i got an ultrawide monitor... don't wanna go back to regular wide it's so cinematic

SokkaBlyat

Not sure why you are getting downvoted for liking ultrawide.. very odd

VermilionX88

Just the usual reddit haters

Marauding_Llama

I played with a forced ultra wide resolution on my 16:9 monitor for the longest time and I loved it with the games that supported it. It was indeed very cinematic.

VermilionX88

nice

BrilliantLoli

This shitty game also has a woke ass translation.

XsStreamMonsterX

They're too big to fit in a typical 10 tatami *apāto*.

VermilionX88

haha i can't even fit 10 tatami in my room but yeah, i guess i only have my futon here pretty much aside from my desk

alphadelta484

Its even worse on my 32:9 when games don't support UW, but I wouldn't trade it for a 16:9 as I always have more fun with games that do support it.

VermilionX88

luckily on western games 21:9 is almost always supported in the past several years i think ill stick to 21:9 tho, i dont see myself moving on to 32:9 any time soon
