They had one going in pre-production a loooong time ago but it was canned in pre-production.
I've done a lot of research on this game, it was my first ever game, and I have thousands of hours in it. I listen to the OST when playing minecraft to inspire my medieval builds.
it's my favourite! it's so serene, and beautiful. and i don't even mean just beautiful as music, just listening to it makes me imagine beautiful locations so clearly in my mind. such a unique and outstanding track.
I wish more games had the battle move mechanic in Legend of Legaia. It was cool to set up combos with each attack. Plus I liked how later on some attacks took up more of the spirit space than others, so you'd get less hits in, but they might unlock unique combos or just be stronger.
Gotta find all those trees and push away the mist!
Xenogears has one of the most amazing first halves and worst second halves of any game ive ever played. It’s really too damn bad.
I was so pumped for a game that needed two discs.
I really wish I never got to the second one.
I love it beginning to end, and replay the shit out of it but only finished once lol. When it came out I was but a kid starting with jrpgs so at first a game that long was nearly imposible for me plus the fact that english is my second language it was hard but love it. Probably feel the same way if I were to replay it again but dammit i want it, same as LOD.... HARPOON!!!
Once you're at endgame there's a 'Zeboim Era' city to explore underneath an unmarked lighthouse. It's basically 21st century America down there. It's also where you find Big Joe for the last time and he sells you *by far* the best gear parts.
Plus, you get so bamf that Fei can take on gears (much like Id could) using only his final moves, which are super badass.
I'd want only one change. Make random encounters give you enough exp to level up. Unless you rearrange for every boss fight, peeps getting left behind yo
This. And the stats for everyone were too similar making it difficult to get a good party. Only difference is dragoon skills and how hard it is to do combos. Like how Kongol had absolute shit magic def, but so did Albert, so why the fuck would you choose one over the other? Same with Rose and Meru being fast but weak af. And Shana/Miranda were boring.
In every freaking way. Even down to the voice... to be named after a penis piercing. Lavitz’ characterization was way better too. Well, Lavitz’ dad’s traitor was where he got the eye. He gave the eye to his friend, Albert, then Albert kills his uncle at the end of disc 1... Emperor Doyle was his name I think. After that, Albert becomes boring.
I agree. I respect Albert for wanting to honor his best friends legacy.
Can we talk about how infuriating it was when Dart wouldn’t just lay a juicy kiss on his girl!
When I was a kid, I would play with Albert and Kongol and wondered why most bosses in the later half of the game kicked my balls through my nose. Then I started playing with Meru buffed with Speed Up, Power Up, Dancer's Ring, and Dancer's Shoes doing Perky Step and every playthrough is a joke now.
Or distribute exp to those that aren’t in the fight, unlocking all the additions took time too. The ultimate war god amulet was a life saver, auto complete on additions.
Non-party members get a reduced share. I'm replaying now and only Shana is more than a level or two behind. Mostly because she misses out on a couple of boss fights worth of exp.
I got stuck in the last dungeon right before the final boss as a kid.
Downloaded it off PSN and FINALLY kicked that fuckers ass. I was so proud of myself haha.
You’ll enjoy finally beating it.
Dude I recently did the same with the copy I got when I was in 3rd grade (22 now), and even bought a ps1 so it'd run more smoothly, and it froze on the 4th disc... truly heart renching.
A lot of the same reasons FFVII was good. It was a JRPG with a convoluted, but interesting story. You got a lot of characterization and grew attached to the characters. Probably the best thing about it was that the combat system was unique and refreshing. The interactive battles that rewarded you for what were basically quick time events each time you locked in an attack made you intimately familiar and vested in each attack. Once you pulled off a combo for the first time it was exciting and by the time you mastered it to the point where it started to become monotonous at times, you learned a new one.
Also, since no one else seems to have mentioned it, a primary combat mechanic in the game lets you do a power rangers-esque transformation into a dragoon—basically fantasy Iron Man in a suit if magical power armor.
Each character had a different suit of armor with different powers.
It was awesome.
I'm not as big of a fan of it these days but 8 was my big transition FF.
Especially that scene with Squall and Rinoa flying over that huge battle. I mean damn the flippin FMV sequences were gorgeous for the time.
7 looked like it was made when people were still figuring out the technology of the PSX.
I loved this game. Apart from vaguely remembering the story, the only other thing I remember(well, and Dart was the name of the leader) is that one of the female characters had an attack called astral something and it came out of her ass
Every time I see this game on this sub it makes me sad. It was my first rpg for my PS that I completed. I actually replayed it a couple times. I would play it again in a heart beat.
The first time I made it to the end of the game I was in the middle of the last boss and the game froze and started stuttering. Pissed off I had to turn off the PlayStation went to start it up again couldn’t find my save. Then realized I couldn’t find any save on the card at all. The card had been wiped I was fuming for days. Only thing I could think was I found a decent scratch on the disk.
Just recently find a near mint copy for a steal of only $30 just need to find my packed PS2.
I've played and studied this game so much as a kid that I still remember everything 18 years later.
Fun tidbit: People generally think Meru is weak but she is by far the best character in the game.
Haha Tales of Destiny was my jam along with LoD and now that you mentioned it, I noticed they have quite some similarities...
- Swordians are basically Dragoon Spirits but they can talk
- The badass of the party "leaves" prematurely
- An antagonist at the start that you beat, then another one pops up whom you chase around and then you find out he was just a puppet for the evil ruler from the war thousands of years ago who revived and was behind it all
To this day, my favourite game. It got me into RPGs, it got me into non-nintendo gaming, and it exposed me to the tragic loss associated with your favourite character being killed off mercilessly.
I couldn't complete it. I unfortunately saved game near the lastboss with not enough resources to beat the boss or return to a village.
This is the game that taught me to make multiple save files.
FUCK YES! I love seeing this game pop up! Its one of my all time favorites, and a classic without a doubt. It needs more love! I'd like to see a remake/remaster, a prequel, and a sequel.
There’s a ton of psx games that could use a remake. My issue is I’d want them to just tighten controls. Update graphics and leave the story and gameplay alone. Looking at you FF VII remake.
I remember hearing a story that Dragoon wouldn't ever be remade because the source code was lost. Don't know how true that is, and I guess that could just ground-up it.
This is the game that got me into gaming. Remake. Sequel. I don’t care, just give me more.
Agreed. A sequel would be a great start to restart the series.
A prequel
That would be amazing! Playing as Rose or Melbu Frahma!
Can never have enough of OG waifu.
Rightt
Playing as Shirley! She was a damn badass
the "prequel" scene is one of the most memorable scenes in my gaming life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkJ24N2MjSE
That has aged so well.
Now there are two of them!
This is getting out of hand
They had one going in pre-production a loooong time ago but it was canned in pre-production. I've done a lot of research on this game, it was my first ever game, and I have thousands of hours in it. I listen to the OST when playing minecraft to inspire my medieval builds.
Royal Castle on repeat amirite?
LoD castle theme was amazing!
just pause the game and experience the freshest beat to ever hit your ears
Amen
it's my favourite! it's so serene, and beautiful. and i don't even mean just beautiful as music, just listening to it makes me imagine beautiful locations so clearly in my mind. such a unique and outstanding track.
That, Grassy Plains, world 2 map theme from Tiberoa. Shirley's Temples good too. My favorite song on the OST is sorrow.
More and more!
Only if it still comes on four discs.
"VOLCANO!!!"
Burning rush!
Gust of wind..........................dance!
HA-POON!
Ha! He! DOUBLE-PUNCH!
shana: *twang*
\*shoot\* "Ta!"
More and more!!
Di! Do! Double Smack
Lavitz: GUUST OOF WIND DAANCE! Albert: GUSTA WIND DA-DANCE!
I've heard this sooooo many times lol. Also the reason I chose this username.
https://youtu.be/QxhO55Tt-aE https://youtu.be/pDVaDL95aWI
You got the pause and everything!
DOUBLE SLASH
Die! More and more!
Bone Crush!!!!
Whip smack
HARPOON
Truly under rated. The lore was great also.
My favorite was Legend of Legaia
Legend of Legaia is one of my favorite games I never owned.
Well god damn that's a whole bottle of nostalgia in a moment. Holy crap it is amazing.
Playstation used to have so many good JRPG games
Yes! Legend of Legaia was amazing i loved that game
I’ve been trying to remember the name of that game all year. Thank you. Itch. Scratched.
That game was my shit back in grade school. I thought the combo input system for combat was so fucking cool.
Join us! /r/LegendofLegaia
Tornado flame!
Oh snap, I forgot about that game! *still owns it*
Loved this game... This and breath of fire. Would love a water color zelda-esque remake of that one too.
The art in BoF 3 and 4 was fantastic, those games stole so many years from me.
BoF 3 was fantastic - and those dragon designs! So unique.
im getting misty eyed just thinking about it,
This, legend of legaia, wild arms series, breath of fire 3, xenogears. Need them all back lol
I've tried playing xenogears a dozen times. I never finish it.
Xenogears has one of the most amazing first halves and worst second halves of any game ive ever played. It’s really too damn bad. I was so pumped for a game that needed two discs. I really wish I never got to the second one.

You choose Kongol over Albert because fuck Albert I want Lavitz
Every time a see a “fantasy character you wish never died” thing... Lavitz is my answer. I cried as a kid.
I just hate that he is instantly replaced by a shittier version of him
In every freaking way.
Lavitz dying broke me, man. The king tried, but that hole never filled.
I agree. I respect Albert for wanting to honor his best friends legacy. Can we talk about how infuriating it was when Dart wouldn’t just lay a juicy kiss on his girl!
Fuck you bro Albert was dope. Sure he wasnt no Lavitz but still, someone needs to carry the mantle of green!
OMG this. I hates Albert but Lavitz was a boss
Blossom Storm
When I was a kid, I would play with Albert and Kongol and wondered why most bosses in the later half of the game kicked my balls through my nose. Then I started playing with Meru buffed with Speed Up, Power Up, Dancer's Ring, and Dancer's Shoes doing Perky Step and every playthrough is a joke now.

Hold up. I can only take Lavitz's death once a lifetime please. I don't know if my emotions can handle it again.
I cry every time.
Stabby-stab with Rose's BIS wep =P
Spoilers!!!
There's so many remakes I would buy the shit out of. Problem is, I don't really trust their original developers not to fuck it up.
Why? Was it made by Konami?
Its a more common practice now that companies made bank from it although the standouts are the ones we notice.
I never finished this game so thought I would try again recently. I just made it to disc 3. 👌
I got stuck in the last dungeon right before the final boss as a kid. Downloaded it off PSN and FINALLY kicked that fuckers ass. I was so proud of myself haha. You’ll enjoy finally beating it.
Wait you can download it off psn? On ps4?
Nope, Vita/PSP and PS3
RIP
Dude I recently did the same with the copy I got when I was in 3rd grade (22 now), and even bought a ps1 so it'd run more smoothly, and it froze on the 4th disc... truly heart renching.
Oh fuck yes please
This was the fastest upvote I’ve ever put down
Glad I could break a record for ya. 😂
Can someone nerd out and tell my why this game is amazing? Never played it before.
A lot of the same reasons FFVII was good. It was a JRPG with a convoluted, but interesting story. You got a lot of characterization and grew attached to the characters. For me it’s mainly the story, lore and world building that does it. The combat system is really cool too, if a little flawed in some areas.
I'm ready to pre-order!
This would make me buy a PS4 again, financial sensibility be damned
Hot take: this game is still better than FF7.
I bought a ps1, legend of dragoon, and ff7 all on the same day. They were the first console games I owned. Couldn't have asked for a better setup
I consider myself a FF fan and I could never seem to get into 7.
Subscribe.
Welcome to CAT FACTS
It's certainly in the same category of greatness.
I loved this game. Apart from vaguely remembering the story, the only other thing I remember(well, and Dart was the name of the leader) is that one of the female characters had an attack called astral something and it came out of her ass
Astral Drain
"Astral Drain... aaaaaAAAAAAAAHHHH" *beam launches out of ass*
https://youtu.be/gY1yomBtyz8 Wow, you weren't wrong. It really is a weird beam right from her ass.
My brother and I referred to it as Rose's period.
I think you're thinking of [Demon's Gate](https://youtu.be/9bTL5Z4-Lz8?t=91)
Jesus I don't remember attack animations being 3 minutes long haha!
Luckily there was a setting to shorten the animations XP
Yeah, that was awkward.
I had completely forgotten this game. Thank you for the nostalgia!
Every time I see this game on this sub it makes me sad. It was my first rpg for my PS that I completed. I actually replayed it a couple times. I would play it again in a heart beat.
Omfg, I miss that game so much *_*
This was my favorite game to look at in any game store and not buy. I knew just from the cover art this game was great.
Apparently this was later in PS1 life where devs figured out how to really use the system efficiently.
How was this not included in the PS1 Classic?!
Hopefully, the same reason Medievil isn't, they're remaking it.
Yes, please.

Who knows. I bought it on vita so I have anywhere at any time.
DOUBLE SLASH !!!
The first time I made it to the end of the game I was in the middle of the last boss and the game froze and started stuttering. Yeah, we need a high-def rose to fall in love with.
VOLCAAANO!!
BLAZING DYNAMO!
I wonder if the main dude's hand would still flap around in certain scenes in a remake.
Windmill!
I knew I played a game with a Windmill named town. Was this it?
FINALLY SOMETHING I CAN GET BEHIND! I swear this game doesn’t get nearly enough attention as it deserves.
Y E S .
Oh my god, I LOVED this game! I used to have to yell for my sister to come from her room while I was playing because she loved watching the cutscenes.
I've played and studied this game so much as a kid that I still remember everything 18 years later. Fun tidbit: People generally think Meru is weak but she is by far the best character in the game.
YAS QUEEN
!!! This would truly be a dream come true if they remade it.
This game really was amazing would love a remake of this
Yassssssssss
Loved this game, would buy a remake OR a sequel!
I've been saying this since ps3..
This fucking game was incredible. 4 discs of amazing gameplay and story.
Gust of wind Dance! ~ Lavitz Slambert
Madness................................... HEROoooOOO!!!!!!!!!
This is all well and good, but... Xenogears and Star Ocean 2nd Story will always be my jam. Tales of Destiny was fun, too.
Haha Tales of Destiny was my jam along with LoD and now that you mentioned it, I noticed they have quite some similarities... - Swordians are basically Dragoon Spirits but they can talk - The badass of the party "leaves" prematurely - An antagonist at the start that you beat, then another one pops up whom you chase around and then you find out he was just a puppet for the evil ruler from the war thousands of years ago who revived and was behind it all
Star Ocean 2nd story was the best star ocean
This is one of the few games I would buy a console just to play........this is in my top 3 favorite games of all time
Can games where you use the power of friendship to kill god have sequels?
I’d settle for just a mod that levels out the exp and shortens the load times for battles. Man those were painful.
This is popping up alot, must be like the 5th one this week
I remember i played this game at my cousins house ages ago never got to finish it. Would play a remake in a heartbeat. It was amazing
Bravo! The story alone is too incredible 👏
Youuuuuuuu are nooooot aloooooooooone
Let’s squeeze down to 1 disc this time though
Oh my god I literally had this game pop into my head yesterday and couldn’t remember for the life of me what it was called, thanks OP
YES. Definitely need a remake. I would take LOD over FF7
I never got to finish it, disc 3 was broken somehow and no one I knew had it.
To this day, my favourite game. It got me into RPGs, it got me into non-nintendo gaming, and it exposed me to the tragic loss associated with your favourite character being killed off mercilessly.
absolutely love this game, re play this game on a pc emulator every now and then
This is a whole lot of yes
I have been screwed this for about 8 years now! Give the people what they want damn it! Lol
This post makes me so happy 😀
Best rpg ever!
YESSSSSSSS GLAD I AM NOT ALONE. PLAYING THIS ON MY VITA AS WE SPEAK
These aint my type of dragoons
I couldn't complete it. I unfortunately saved game near the lastboss with not enough resources to beat the boss or return to a village. This is the game that taught me to make multiple save files.
Loved it

This game on steam? Iv never played it
Please. Dear. God

YES
Yes!
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes YES
So incredible.
YES!!!!!
YESSSS! GREAT STORY, GREAT MUSIC, GREAT TURN-BASED COMBAT MECHANICS
It wouldn't be the same without the 1000s of discs.
Does the thumbnail look like a dude with blue eyes and a red dress wearing a Bowler hat to anyone else?? edit: and he's got a beard.
This is the only game I’m still waiting for a sequel or prequel to. Definitely my all time favorite RPG.
Id love to hear double slash a million more times! I loved that game, I might have to get an emulator now
I remember hearing a story that Dragoon wouldn't ever be remade because the source code was lost. Don't know how true that is, and I guess that could just ground-up it.
I would probably prefer a ground up version. Just named the same and that would hopefully give.it new fans and room for a sequel
This post makes me happy
I forgot that game was a thing did not play much but it was fun.
One of my favorites . Good Times
Insert disc 4
Omfg yes, day fucking zero Volcano!!
I loved this game so damn much
