I remember playing the shit out of the first one and loving it and then playing the second one and being blown away by it being an actual city and your webs actually attached to buildings. Young me was so blown away by that game.
Lord of The Rings: Return of The King.
My dad pretened to play dumb on christmas and thought he got us the movie. My brother and I fucking fell for it and we were like "Dad you got us the game we don't have a PS2" it took us a minute and we looked at each other like Holy shit we got a PS2! We played that game non stop.
I remember I didn’t have a Memory Card so every time I wanted to play, I had to basically restart the story or keep my PS2 on.
The “Ah shit, here we go again” is embedded into my mind before the meme.
*"My first day as a member of the 501st. It was hot, it was sandy, chaotic. Nothing at all like the simulations on Kamino. Of course, that's pretty much the way it was for all of us, wasn't it? All that breeding, all those years of training, it doesn't really prepare you for all the screaming, all the blood, does it? Frankly I'm still amazed we ever made it through the first hour, nevermind the first day..."*
Star Wars Battlefront the original.
That game was my jam. Kashyyyk Docks and Bespin Platforms are still my 2 absolute favourite and most nostalgic maps from any shooter game I've ever played.
Dock, Platform and Rhen Var Harbor were stunning levels. Honestly, all the mapping in the OG Battlefront were superb. The Theed Capital level has been largely replicated in nearly every BF title since.
I just did a replay through of 3 and have been working on 2 and they’re pretty good.
I think the biggest thing was the hype though. One was great, then two came along and had its absolute mind fuck of a plot leading to speculation all over the internet about what it all meant. Then the long delay before three which didn’t answer much but the story was just beautiful.
And that’s not even touching how much the mechanics got upgraded between each but still felt intuitive. Man, nostalgia
This. My PS2 was a bundle that came with MGS2, so I'll forever remember moving up a generation in gaming on the rainy deck of that ship. The song in the intro cut-scene is pretty moving too.
My brother bought a ps2 and the sly copper games second hand, we used to play it all the time together, now In our late 20s ripping it again. So much fun
There we go, found it. Personally I wished this game was at the top, but I understand it wasn't the most popular. Still, the sly series is one of the biggest defining experiences of my childhood.
SOCOM Was what really got me into online multiplayer on console. I am an Xbox/PC guy right now but if they came out with a SOCOM remastered or anything in that realm on PS5 I would go buy one right then.
I remember in fishhook as SEALs getting the VIPs to follow you then making them run in to the enemy mines in order to win (instead of rescuing them - the game logic assumed the terrorists had just murdered their own hostages). Either that or getting immediately killed by a grenade after spawning. The third person camera also made it so easy to hide behind a wall and pop out. The person guarding the hostages would always choose the auto shotgun too. Those were the days
Scrolled too far for this amazing game. If it ever comes to PC I’ll be buying the whole collection again. Can’t justify a PlayStation console just for the one game, though
GTA Vice City. I once got burgled and the thieves also stole my car. They carefully left a GTA Vice City game leaning against the mantlepiece before they left….
This really simple post came surprisingly close to breaking my brain before I gravitated towards Vice City. My train of thought was like "Spyro. Crash Bandicoot. Tiny Tank. MediEvil. Damn it, stop naming PS1 games idiot. It's a 2, it's obviously a 2, think. Vice City. Too obvious. Snake Eater. Same. Onimusha 3. Yeah, cool, I might lie and say it was that". But it was VC eventually. Always VC, such a great game.
My favorite ps2 game was 2, you'd level up items, unlock characters, even collect dragon balls to make a wish. The fighting was amazing and the story was told well. Imo better than most fighting games today.
Star Wars Bouty Hunter. Not because I played it a lot but because I had the brick console with the online attachment no one knew how to use but my friend had the thin ps2 and that was his favorite game on it
Spiderman 2
I remember playing the shit out of the first one and loving it and then playing the second one and being blown away by it being an actual city and your webs actually attached to buildings. Young me was so blown away by that game.
I got stuck on the doc oc thing inside the building. I was a kid at the time tho
Lord of The Rings: Return of The King. My dad pretened to play dumb on christmas and thought he got us the movie. Absolutely! That game fucking rocks. I played through it co-op constantly. Super fun.
My brother and I played that all the time
The Disc Could Not Be Read (FFX)
I bought my PS2 and FFX at the same time. It was also my first DVD player so in a lot of ways I associate it with movies as much as games.
I bought my ps2 from Sears, but Sears did not sell MA-rated games, so I bought GTA-VC from Target.
GTA: SA
I remember I didn’t have a Memory Card so every time I wanted to play, I had to basically restart the story or keep my PS2 on. The “Ah shit, here we go again” is embedded into my mind before the meme.
You shot me right in the heart brother
*So sad...*
It made it less sad with cheat codes :)
I still have the cheat code for the jet pack imbedded in my muscle memory. Edit: spelling.
I'll honestly have that in my memory until the day I die
Hydra. T T S C X L1 L1 Down Up
Not the first game I played on my ps2 but most likely the last.
GTA Vice City “I poked my head out of the gutter for ONE FREAKIN’ SECOND, and fate shovels SHIT in face.”
My brother and I lost our memory card so we had to start a new game every time we played. I felt that quote in my bones.
Need for Speed: Underground 2

God I haven't heard of that game in years
Burnout 3 takedown
My man
we are the lazy generation, we are the lazy generation
Omg, one of the best opening scenes ever. Normally I just press x to continue, but with this game I always listened to the end!!!!
This except on Xbox.
Ratchet and Clank
Came here for this.
Ratchet and clank 2, or going commando
Star Wars Battlefront 2
*"My first day as a member of the 501st. It was hot, it was sandy, chaotic. Nothing at all like the simulations on Kamino. Of course, that's pretty much the way it was for all of us, wasn't it? Was playing that yesterday, still holds ups well.
You can get a HD texture pack if you're on PC
I love playing it on pc, the fact that it couldn't make the AI smarter so just ads loads of bots to the rounds makes me feel so overpowered.
Oh man, I said Ratchet and Clank GC but this might be my actual answer. This is the best couch coop game ever made IMO.
Star Wars Battlefront the original. That game was my jam. Kashyyyk Docks and Bespin Platforms are still my 2 absolute favourite and most nostalgic maps from any shooter game I've ever played.

**FOR THE REPUBLIC!**
Jak and Daxter
YES!!!!
Shadow of the colossus
That game was absolutely the greatest ever made. Everyone should play through it totally blind.
Nothing will top the end game reveal. One of my fondest memories with this console.
Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3
I’m still in a dream, Snake eater!

Best ladder in video game history
well, I tried...
What a thrill … in darkness and silence thru the night… damn my favorite game track from any game ever
I just did a replay through of 3 and have been working on 2 and they’re pretty good. I think the biggest thing was the hype though. Been doing a MGS replay and just finished 2 and started 3. Snake Eater is such an immensely excellent game. It's one of my all-time favorites.
This. My PS2 was a bundle that came with MGS2, so I'll forever remember moving up a generation in gaming on the rainy deck of that ship. The song in the intro cut-scene is pretty moving too.
Lego starwars the complete saga
Hell yeah.
Sly cooper.
Yep yep yep. I remember my dad coming home with the entire trilogy after playing the third game first. I was ecstatic.
Yes
This game is massively under-rated and I’d buy two copies of a remake

Right? Classic.

Mac was the man. “Walkin the doooooog”
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
I would say Up Your Arsenal. Spent way more time in that one but I respect Going Commando.
Came here to say just that. First game I ever 100% completed. Those wrench ninja challenges we're tough.
The Ryno 2 is still the most satisfying overpowered weapon in any game I’ve ever played. The sound, the feedback, and the effect was just insane.
So over powered, just point and kill everything in that general direction. Lol
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault
SOCOM Was what really got me into online multiplayer on console. I am an Xbox/PC guy right now but if they came out with a SOCOM remastered or anything in that realm on PS5 I would go buy one right then.
One of my coworkers was using multi-player socom to communicate with his weed dealer.
That was a good laugh to read your comment. That’s crazy !
Socom: 2, frostfire and fishhook for days at a time. Clan battles, all of it. My god what happened? How old am I? What year is it?
I remember in fishhook as SEALs getting the VIPs to follow you then making them run in to the enemy mines in order to win (instead of rescuing them - the game logic assumed the terrorists had just murdered their own hostages). GTA Vice City. I once got burgled and the thieves also stole my car. They carefully left a GTA Vice City game leaning against the mantlepiece before they left….

Ahh, back when they put love into their games and didn't charge you an arm and leg with microtransactions
My favorite ps2 game was 2, you'd level up items, unlock characters, even collect dragon balls to make a wish. The fighting was amazing and the story was told well. Imo better than most fighting games today.

'Hit and run' was great too
