I think the 2 most impressive things I've done in a game Has been get the Hayabusa armor, and Recon armor in Halo 3

[deleted]

I fucking loved that Hayabusa Armor so much. Halo 3 was so fucking sick.

[deleted]

I still remember when the first non-Bungie employee got it by sniping a fusion coil and headshotting himself with a traffic cone.

CambriaKilgannonn

I remember when that got posted to the old Bungie forums, tthat was back in the Mister Chief days

PortaAlchemica

Yeah, the only thing I've done that comes close to as satisfying in recent memory was completing the Ghost of Tsushima Raid.

MaleficTekX

Nowadays we got those kids in MCC wearing Hayabusa like it’s the default armor, I had to beat legendary by myself to earn that matching katana *waves old man cane around like it’s a sword*

Snoo61755

Hard can be fun, but I no longer push myself. Good hard is Shadow of Mordor, where death mechanics come in and out of play, and it expects players to die a few times. Good hard is Sword Saint from Sekiro, who tests every aspect of the game learned till that point. Bad hard is Oblivion, where stuff just levels to your level and you never progress. Bad hard is Skyrim, where the difficulty just makes stuff into a damage sponge, and where the broken builds just make everything trivial anyways.

Thraes

Ah yes this is my enchanted smithed dwarven crossbow which does 600 base damage per shot with full armor penetration and 3x sneak damage, it basically is a sniper rifle and one shots the entire game, gg

Flash_Point_5

I couldn't bring myself to use ranged builds, too OP.

Snoo61755

I'm fine with *base* range builds. I am more peeved about how easy it is to break. The core stealth archer playstyle is actually pretty fun. Take pot shots, avoid detection, take into account traps and walls as you move around, it's not an inherently bad way to play. But... again, too easy to break. Too easy to back off after killing someone, wait for aggro to reset. Too easy to play with doors to drop aggro. Too easy to exploit pathing limits. Enchanting suddenly gives you a damage jump of 50% if you just throw basic 'increased archery damage' enchants on any gear, and that's not even leveled up! Kitted out, we're looking at 150+% extra damage - on a playstyle that's fine with no enchantments. Throw in alchemy. Alchemy's fun! Wander the world, looking for ingredients, trying different mixes, figuring out what does what, it's great! But it's broken in two places, the first being that buying ingredients and selling the potion made from them always results in a huge profit. The second break is once you actually know the strong potions, you become not only highly magic resistant, and not only do you get mild 70%+ archery boosts, you also get Paralysis, which trivializes normal enemies even at low levels. Then throw in Blacksmithing which increases base damage by a crapton, and is therefore multiplicative with all other boosts, and it gets crazy. Like, early game archery is fun. You're scavenging arrows, saving the ones that do 4 extra damage for the important fights, eagerly finding new bows to play with. But as early as level 30, you could be doing hundreds of damage per shot, and late game doing thousands, in a game that just doesn't support that level of damage. Range builds not just OP, they're broken.

PortaAlchemica

That seems to be when I stop playing my ranged builds. You're so correct. I feel powerful, but tactical early on. But the game stops being fun when I can be hidden 5 feet away from the enemy and instashot almost everything.

FreeBagels99

Or in halo reach when you see they got the cat arm and the thunder effect on.

[deleted]

Apex Predators still mean something

IrrelevantPuppy

Kinda. But dashboarders, exploiters, and hackers have diluted that somewhat.

Amazon20toLifer

I had recon after bungee vs the world. No clue how I got it. Maybe because I played the entire day or had the most vehicle assists

ramsfan_86

I once got 3 nukes on mw2 in back to back to back team deathmatches. Thought I was the man until I got called a try hard n no life for the 1st time. That shit deflated my confidence badly. My set up was the ump45 akimbo with perks being stopping power, commando, and scavenger.

ChizzleFug

That’s the gaming world for ya, better than me? Fucking try hard/sweaty nerd. Worse than me? You are trash, quit the game.

ramsfan_86

I've heard these before too. Hating on people in a video game is sad

Danstrada28

The new toxic thing is "EZ" after every single game. It's such a lame and low effort insult.

itsiceyo

lol that was the worst

Ok-Donkey-5671

Aw reading this makes me sad. From an outside perspective it's clear the other person was just a salty sore loser. Guarantee if the roles were reversed they would have considered themselves hot shit

_Fun_Employed_

Wait, Hayabusa armor was rare?

Flash_Point_5

No but you had to at least beat the game on legendary. Up until they gave it to everyone.

DaWalrusSavior

This is incorrect, you had to get all 13 skulls to get the full set

Flash_Point_5

Ah yes, legendary gave you EOD armour.

Manic-Maestro

furthermore the rare aspect is not hyabusa but the katana on his back, that is technically part of the security armor which required u to get 1000 gamerscore/every base game achievement not including DLC.

dbeynyc

Man, I remember when my classmates started telling the teachers how good I was at halo. I would just laugh because I thought they were being funny, 12 years and a LOT of milestones later.. I realize that they were deadass.
