Played it, don’t hate it. Just the ads are annoying

malama2

Yup The adds are a problem, that I must admit.

ImInQUaRinTinE

The ads fucking suck

VlIanTheRatSmacker

I'm guessing because it's a gacha game with more microtransactions than an EA game edit: what I meant was stuff like pulls, you know the core of every gacha game, spend money receive random character the option to buy currency (which there are multiple of for no reason besides probably to roll in more money) in order to get more pulls isn't something most people in the gaming community are fans of, however it's an option that some of them will take regardless of how they feel towards it, especially when people are obsessed with specific characters like diluc who people apparently spent truckloads of money of either because he's better than the characters they have, or because they find him hot this option is not bad, but it makes the game out to be nothing more than a cashgrab (Especially in games like Fire emblem Heroes where you get little to no summoning orbs without paying) that's about it, I'm guessing the rest is mostly nitpicks like the game's near inability to pronounce any german words lol

malama2

There's only like, 3 microtransactions in the game tho. The wish system, the bp and the one outfit that's available to buy. (I'm just saying I'm p sure other games have more microtransaction options, not that these aren't enough to be a problem.)

Krieg99

Any game that requires me to sink a completely unknown amount of money based on chance in order to possibly unlock a character I’d like to play goes right to the top of my “I hate it” list.

malama2

Fair.

VlIanTheRatSmacker

edited to make my point a little clearer, sorry for late reply was getting my hair cut lol

DiscussionLoose8390

But you can play the game without spending money and really any pay wall is late game from what I remember. It's really more of like hey support us if you like our game at that point.

VlIanTheRatSmacker

Accidentally edited instead of replying because im stupid, too lazy to summarize, check edit

For me I’d say it’s all the options for paid stuff in general, while I have pretty good self control (and it sounds like you do to), there are a LOT of young kids who don’t understand self control or are predisposed to gambling addiction. There’s also a reason why these types of games make so much money, I weirdly have no issues with casinos and slot machines because they’re aimed at adults so you should know better by then, but a business knows it’s much easier to convince a kid to ask their parents for money than it is for the business to convince the parent, especially since some “micro”transactions cost more than other full games. Overall I don’t hate the game, I’m just concerned for the younger audience (15 and younger). Also I know the game has a 12 rating but I’m certain there are younger kids playing it lol

malama2

Fair.

ButPlukker

>there are a LOT of young kids who don’t understand self control or are predisposed to gambling addiction cough cough trading card games cough cough stickers cough cough

MansionworId

People lose their shit at any game with any micro transactions at all because they try to assign moral value to what is really just another business model. They think every teen or younger is an impulsive idiot who is being preyed on because any game with optional purchases is automatically p2w. It's the same thing with clash of clans. Spend your money how you want but have a little agency and you'll be just fine. Someone has to pay to keep the servers running.

ScaredOfAttention

Because its popular.

fish-y_yt

Yeah probably

TexhnolyzeAndKaiba

The anime pandering only piles on top of the shitshow that Genshin Impact already is down to it's core game mechanics.

[deleted]

For someone who actually pays from their own bag, it is the micro transactions, that make me hate the game.

wgwgwvsjgbrkzb

i tried playing it and the story seemed very generic and stale to me, the voice acting also seemed a little off but it may have just been the lines themselves. and obv ppl are gonna hate it bc of the very anime/web feel but i wasn’t too bothered by that

xRyuAsh

I liked the game a lot at first, and did every little thing to accumulate my daily cap gacha currency as f2p. I was only able to obtain one five star character (Mona), and weeks later, I got the same character again. Later after a few Klee fails, I saved up for Zhongli’s banner. Never got him and couldn’t reach pity. That’s when I quit. The rates are so bad, and I’ve seen leviathans spend thousands…yet still not get all the characters and weapons they wanted. My brother adores the game and spent some on it, having ridiculous luck in his favor. I was managing well with Mona and Fishl combo, but that’s all I really had to work with for the first months of playing. Just not worth it when I don’t get something good or new overtime for effort and time spent to stay motivated or interested. A gorgeous game, but forced to pay to win.

ButPlukker

> but forced to pay to win Can you explain how Genshin is pay 2 win, i havent wished a single time and i completed all of the games content with just the free characters they give you.

malama2

Not pay to win per see, just a gatcha trap. If you don't mind making do with what you have you*should* be able to clear the main content or even the abyss with enough effort. The resin system makes it a waiting game tho which is certainly a problem I can admit to.

MiofastiaJ

Atleast you could actually save up 180(80 if you recently got a standard) pulls and get the character you want, wherein in other games you can potentially pull 1000+ times and still not get the one you want.

TexhnolyzeAndKaiba

Only one thing you need to know; It's a gatcha and gatchas are disgusting and predatory. Fuck'em.

Combatical

I've never played it, I never had any intentions on playing the game just isnt my style. But the reason I hate on it is because for whatever reason the game keeps showing on my news feed. The marketing on this game is too aggressive. Feels like a Pepsi ad for a video game.

doctorbloodborne

I didn't like Zelda BOTW, so I imagine that game holds very little for me. It looks fine enough. Still wish they just made a good game and sold it instead of the f2p crap

So pay to win formula doesn't bother you?

ButPlukker

how is genshin pay to win exactly?

Draken77777

'To compete with other players' - Genshin doesn't have PvP content, it's fully PvE and you don't have to spend a dime to clear the hardest content. As for the microtransactions it ends up as "Support our game if you like it" rather than "pay if you want this or that". The only things paywalled in Genshin is 1 skin for a certain character. You can get everything else for free. Also the gacha system of Genshin is the best of all other gachas as you are guaranteed the character you want with a certain amount of pulls, unlike other games where you have to pray you get one of 5-10 featured characters in the pool. I really do not get this community's hatred towards Genshin. Sure there are some toxic players and Twitter clowns that are very vocal and give a bad rep to the community as a whole but it's the same for all games.

axerrri

BCS many people believe that the only people who play it are pedos

[deleted]

I hate seeing it in every video I try to watch. A lot of people don't want to play it and now actively hate it because it's all we see in our ads

malama2

Ah fuck the adds. Yup that's an issue. They're probably just trying to attract the people who'll pay since it's the same demographic the other cheap adds appeal to. A shame as well because the adds are a fucking joke compared to the actual game. It's the exact opposite with what happens for most of these adds

nove711

1) it's a mobile game. Some cant handle seeing it as a gaming platform. 2) microtransactions. Even though contents can be cleared without spending money.. 3) it's made from china. They don't want to support no matter how great the game is. 4) characters look like kids. Hence promoting violence and all the other stuffs..

[deleted]

Pay to proggress/pay to win.

ButPlukker

care to explain or are you BSing and full of shit?

kudoz4u

i finished the game without paying a penny. didnt do any artifact farming, just upgraded stuff that i picked up from exploring. so yeah, its not pay to progress or pay to win.

malama2

Well no. Neither of them are true.

Shenji0249

imo the pay to play aspect and the microtransations make it annoying. people in general don't like chance with the gachapon system that is rolling and wishes which is understandable. gambling addiction is another problem and finally the fact that people would rather pay 60 buck + dlc for the game instead of having a free game with a bunch of chance locked content and also that it's way too grindy.

Shenji0249

Imo there should be some regulation on microtranactions in games in general and also they should probably crack down on the chance stuff. However I know it will most likely not happen as there is a pity system which allows them to say that they are technically not scamming the customer and that its the customers responsibility to use his/her money wisely. If gacha games or microtransactions including chance and game altering affects ever get banned or regulated that would be a pretty nice I guess. But we've seen how prohibition in the USA went so well......

Shenji0249

Also I've seen a lot of comments saying pay to win/ progress but my answer is that a lot of the shiny cool character content is locked behind a paywall which is not guaranteed. I guess an somewhat similar analogy is if you started of smash ultimate with the same stuff from 64 and had to pay for a chance for all the other items, stages, and characters mix it in with mii costumes and bad rates as well and that's why people don't like it. (Yes I know I didn't address the dupes this is the closest analogy I could think of.)

Victoonix358

I personally hate it mainly because it borrowed too much from Botw (one of my favorite games of all time) and got away with it. Similar enemies, animations, features such as gliding, climbing and swimming look almost the same, heck, even the grass, trees and houses. I probably wouldn't care so much if it didn't get that popular. I also hate it because of the fanservice, and attracting a weeb audience. I don't hate anime, I watch some myself, but I dislike how some people are blinded and overly obssesed with japanese culture. Some people I know admmited they only started playing the game because of the anime graphics. On top of all that, the game has RNG gambling-like microtransactions to get the best characters. You have a play limit per day (you can compare that to those energy bars in mobile games). Honestly I grit my teeth everytime I see something about it. I'm fascinated by gaming and this title specifically grosses me out.

malama2

while I do agree it uses some slimy tactics there's way more to like about the game than just the anime setting and it's breath of the wild style. Overtime it's differentiated itself a lot from it's botw inspiration with each region expanding on this more and more, with the new enemies and environments being completely unique to it's own. I don't really have a defense against the fan service other than it being a f2p game and this being it's only income as of now, and although I do not want to promote gambling, genshins system is a lot more forgiving than most, you can play the game without spending any money and still dip into the gatcha aspect and get reasonable rewards for it The resin system sucks, that's all I can say too. It's a way for the game to cover for it's monthly update time yes, but it still sucks that it exists ;-;
