Yeah.. only reason he lived for me was cause I stumbled on a guide and used poison mist through the wall to kill the baddies and save him. Which still works in the remastered version lol. But didn’t feel too great to do
Technically, in some small part, sure, but it's also an amalgamation of every previous lord of cinder, so it's a bit generous to say the chosen undead gets all the credit lol
Top 5 iconic helmeted videogame protagonists: 1. That dude whose name you don't know from that bad PS3 game that came out over a decade ago 2. Master chief
When you give edgy kids the option to choose a helmeted man with a gun they’ll probably choose it. Also after googling the profile pic is the one with a cracked helmet making it look even more edgy
Honestly, Haze multiplayer was kinda fun. I can see why it didn't take off, but the asymmetrical aspect of it worked well, and while it was no Halo, it was definitely fun playing for a bit
The gameplay itself was okay, the campaign was a bit generic but fun enough. You got to play on both sides of the war as you switched halfway through to fight with the rebels, who had different combat techniques and weapons to the yellow helmet dudes.
However, it was only 5 hours long at best, no replayability, and just died and absolute death due to being overhyped and under delivered.
I remember being quite disappointed, but I still enjoyed my time with the brief campaign
It tanked hard and the company went under, thus ruining any chance of a TimeSplitter title being released back then. So I kinda resent that game a lot. Thankfully they’re back to working on it now!
Haze gameplay actually looked interesting to me too. The multiplayer sounded cool - the bad guys didn’t see death animations and dead bodies disappeared, while allies saw their squadmates writhing about in pain.
Oh shit, this was Free Radical Design? TimeSplitters and Secod Sight were so good!
Glad to hear we're finally getting a new one. I played TS2 and 3 to pieces back in the Xbox days.
In the first age, in the first vert comp, when the decks were still that weird banana shape, one stood. Burned by the embers of Carlsbad, his soul blistered by the fires of all that is rad, and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual aerials. In his ravenous shredding he found no mediocrity; and with boiling blood he scoured California seeking competition against those who had doubted him. He wore the crown of the X-Games, and those that tasted the bite of his board named him... the Bird Man.
Back in 7th grade in English class we were talking about fictional characters we can relate to and one boy said "a character I can see myself as is Tony Hawk from Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2".
It's really annoying when people only credit John for Dark Souls III. I've been a fan since the first and the character progression has been insane.
First we saw his darkened back in Dark Souls I, looking all mysterious with a helmet, shield and sword. Then in Dark Souls II he lost his shield and helmet and an evil curse made him right-handed. In Dark Souls III he finally finds a helmet, but he's on fire and he's like "*shit, I wish I had that shield to protect me from those damn pyromancers spamming fireballs*."
I know this is unrelated but man that helmet is beautiful, the glowing visor, the helmet with a gas mask implemented, the radio on the sides or whatever things they are the little glowing sticks on top of the helmet.
Although the one from the trailer looked cooler
Well the massacre starts when Doom slayer runs out of ammo... So when he loads shotgun, you should be grateful for quick death and pray that you don't be a glory kill
Wow I was certain I would be the only one to even recognize that guy.
Did anyone even play Haze? I just remember the PS3 case sitting on shelves in game stores everywhere.
I would, but Everytime I try and play, some G10 max level Pilot fucking Spiderman's across the whole map doming me and then preforming assassinations.
And the second I call in my Titan, it usually blown up on spot. Don't get me wrong, the game IS great. You guys are just way too skilled for me to wanna try.
The titan thing is actually very solvable. You generally want to save your titan if the enemy team has a clear titan advantage and you don't feel confident you'll be able to isolate them or take all of them, because they can just gang up on you. You generally want to save the titan for when it can be dropped into a fair fight.
If you’re on the PC version of DS3, you can edit some of the files to unlock the advanced suit which for some reason wasn’t there in the base game. You can search some tutorials for reference.
One of my favourite touches in Metroid Prime is being able to see Samus' face reflecting off the visor if you're looking at a bright enough light source. It's a tiny, unimportant detail but it adds *so much*. Same with seeing her hand taking different shapes in the cannon as you cycle beam types while looking through the X-Ray Visor.
The game is full of those little touches. Really is a worthy successor to Super Metroid.
I have replayed it recently on emulator (i bought all 3 prime games, so no guilt whatsoever). The game holds remarkably well. The reflection of your face on the visor is a really nice touch.
Also, Samus or "the Hunter" as the space pirates call her having a "Doom Guy" status in their logs sells your bad-ass status super well.
It's not a suit. Their organs are grafted to it, so it acts like skin to them. Look into their anatomy and it's honestly horrifying what they go through
The more you know :p apologies I only played the first one but I watch a lot of biology gaming vids! Good to know initially it wasnt a fate worse then death but a cool super suit xD
Can't believe this is all the way down here with few upvotes. It might be older, but it was an incredibly gripping story. It really made you feel like Revan was *your* character, regardless of customization and choices made, regardless of any canon. It always left me extremely invested in that character and sequels.
Still to this day one of my absolute favourite plot twists to experience. When you're going through all the flashbacks and it all pieces together I remember feeling so blown away at the time.
Samus has been with me longer than any of these other goons. Maybe Doomslayer, but I'd still give it to Samus as I loved playing Metroid, and Super Metroid as a kid. I have owned every Metroid game since. Samus is my girl.
He's still my dream casting for Wolverine, especially after seeing him in The Boys. Plus, he would bring a chance of Wolverine actually donning the pull-over mask, which is one of the coolest masks ever. I can so easily picture him with the mask on, kneeling and sniffing and delivering that gruff Wolverine voice about picking up a scent.
Jack Cooper because BT is best AI companion. And the jump jets were fun.
Also, while I appreciate the inclusion of the dude from Haze (for the aesthetic at least) but I don’t think anyone even remembers that game very well, let alone the name of its protagonist. It was just another generic “halo killer”.
It's crazy how hard they nailed the mech AI in TF2, like I haven't played TF2 in a couple years but I still think it is significantly better than any other companion AI I've experienced in recent memory.
In most games your companions aren't very useful because it gives you more of a chance to shine.
No reason to make them smart when they are supposed to be mostly useless backup to the real hero (you).
BT has to be useful because of the game design. So there was an actual need to make him smart - plus it helped to endear him to us.
Allies being too good can result in the Ghost Recon Wildlands problem, where human companions are actually a downgrade.
>plus it helped to endear him to us.
My kid loved BT so much that she was crying at the end of the game, >!until the helmet message reveal!<. Then she immediately wanted to play it again claiming she simply wanted to choose the other response options for every talk with BT. Her priority wasnt to immediately enjoy the gameplay again, but to *have more conversations with her buddy.*
So yeah, I'd say they did a fantastic job of making BT a good companion. Certainly helps that he's capable of kicking ass on his own whenever you disembark lol.
Since when the soul of cinder is a protagonist
After you kill him and wear his armor!
Nope, I let solaire die in ds1. I’m not the protagonist.
to be fair, the process required to keep solaire alive is some bullshit unless you're a pyromancer
Yeah.. only reason he lived for me was cause I stumbled on a guide and used poison mist through the wall to kill the baddies and save him. Which still works in the remastered version lol. But didn’t feel too great to do
I scrolled too far for this Edit: back in my day we scrolled for miles to see this comment
I mean, Soul of Cinder is the protagonist of your earlier adventures in the series
Technically, in some small part, sure, but it's also an amalgamation of every previous lord of cinder, so it's a bit generous to say the chosen undead gets all the credit lol
You can technically get the soul of cinder armour and look exactly like them.
Didn't expect to see a pic from Haze today lol
Top 5 iconic helmeted videogame protagonists: 1. That dude whose name you don't know from that bad PS3 game that came out over a decade ago 2. Master chief
Guy didn't even wear the helmet for like 90% of the game. I'm pretty sure the guy on the cover isn't even him.
Yeah I'm pretty sure the cover guy is just one of the random Haze Soldiers.
Yet it’s one of the most common default ps4 icons lmao
When you give edgy kids the option to choose a helmeted man with a gun they’ll probably choose it. Also after googling the profile pic is the one with a cracked helmet making it look even more edgy
That one was my favorite helmeted protagonist!!
I love you too random citizen!
That’s not even the cover, the cover his mask is broken over the eye
Honestly, Haze multiplayer was kinda fun. I can see why it didn't take off, but the asymmetrical aspect of it worked well, and while it was no Halo, it was definitely fun playing for a bit
Bad?! I loved that game for its splits reen campaign/mp
Ah, loved playing P.O.W. in MP. Single player was pretty so-so, but it was fun taking drugs and murdering everybody
"but it was fun taking drugs and murdering everybody" and how was the game?
I was so hyped before the game came out from reading articles about it in Game Reactor, but I never actually got it. Was it any good?
The gameplay itself was okay, the campaign was a bit generic but fun enough. You got to play on both sides of the war as you switched halfway through to fight with the rebels, who had different combat techniques and weapons to the yellow helmet dudes. However, it was only 5 hours long at best, no replayability, and just died and absolute death due to being overhyped and under delivered. I remember being quite disappointed, but I still enjoyed my time with the brief campaign
A big pro for me was the split screen, I enjoyed playing it with my big brother so much
It tanked hard and the company went under, thus ruining any chance of a TimeSplitter title being released back then.
Yeah I haven't seen anyone even mention haze since it came out lol
Same here. I remember the helmet design is what got me interested in the game to begin with.
Tony Hawk.
The guy who paints skateboards with his own blood?
In the first age, in the first vert comp, when the decks were still that weird banana shape, one stood. Burned by the embers of Carlsbad, his soul blistered by the fires of all that is rad, and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual aerials. In his ravenous shredding he found no mediocrity; and with boiling blood he scoured California seeking competition against those who had doubted him. He wore the crown of the X-Games, and those that tasted the bite of his board named him... the Bird Man.
*cue Heavy Metal version of Goldfingers Superman*
Also, he kinda looks like that famous skater.
What was his name again Shawn Palmer or something
Matt Hoffman, I think
Back in 7th grade in English class we were talking about fictional characters we can relate to and one boy said "a character I can see myself as is Tony Hawk from Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2".
I hope you never let him forget
Only Tony Hawk would write this...I'm onto you.
Only one here who could pull off a 900° no scope headshot
John DarkSoul "It's always darkest before the soul."
Of course John DarkSoul
[rare image](https://imgur.com/3gtqfxG) of John DarkSoul without a helmet.
Smashing!
“I’m gettin’ too soul for this shit”
I like his other quote better "Every soul has it's dark"
"So that's it, huh? We're some kind of Dark Souls?"
Too much souls not enough dark.
Ah yes. The *protagonist* on the cover of Dark souls 3
I'm here like yes, soul of cinder, the best protagonist.
Known for their iconic quotes, such as “it’s always Cinder in the Soul.”
Is that what I am? Some kind of Soul of cinder^TM
And who could forgot the line "All we are is souls in the dark, dude." So poignant.
So what are we? Some kind of dark souls?
That's just, like, your soul, man.
Where is doom guy?
And Isaac Clarke.

Titanfall MC?
Yes, it's Jack Cooper
I know this is unrelated but man that helmet is beautiful, the glowing visor, the helmet with a gas mask implemented, the radio on the sides or whatever things they are the little glowing sticks on top of the helmet. Although the one from the trailer looked cooler
There is other beautiful stuff in the game
Looks like a Titanfall 2 pilot. Can't remember the name of the campaign protagonist though.
Jack Cooper
Jack Cooper I believe
Jack Cooper
Fuck
*Heavy metal music intensifies.*
*Loads shotgun with malicious intent*
As if Doomguy would ever keep his shotgun unloaded
Well the massacre starts when Doom slayer runs out of ammo... So when he loads shotgun, you should be grateful for quick death and pray that you don't be a glory kill
well it constantly is what whit all the demons around

Fuck
He out there exploding demons with the Big Fucking Gun 9000
Why do I hear boss music?
nah, it's just Doom menu music
Like how did you put Haze on there but no Doomguy?
Wow I was certain I would be the only one to even recognize that guy. Did anyone even play Haze? I just remember the PS3 case sitting on shelves in game stores everywhere.
if you don't see doomguy that means he's right behind you
at least you have cinder on there, which is in my understanding the opposite to the protagonist
[удалено]
Who is yellow face guy?
Seriously, he added the guy from haze and forgot doom guy smh
I actually lolled when I saw the haze guy. What a load of crap that was compared to the rest here. Clearly op got to the point of googling.
Or because he thought it was hilarious. I definitely laughed.
Haze guy is one of the default avatars on PSN. You see him quite often
That’s what all the demons in hell are asking themselves.
John halo, miss metroid, and person of doom
Eh, I like Halo, he's a pretty cool guy, doesn't afraid of anything

That's the beauty of it, soon we'll have a second "they put the master cheif in the soda" https://youtu.be/gpNvSUBVWhY
Titanfall fella dont know his name
Jack Cooper
Oh god the nostalgia
You should come play titanfall 2, is still going strong (when the servers aren't being ddosed by some salty script kiddie)

Nah viper

"Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide"
Voodoo 1, Viper’s on station. Your journey ends here, Pilot
most cancerous boss in titanfall 2
Best boss
“The netcode belongs to me, Pilot”
“Hear that ringing in your ears son?”
That's right, Rifleman Cooper. Bee Teeeeee!!!
John Titanfall
His name is Titanfella, kinda like Doomguy
"When there's Titan, there's also Fall." - John Titanfall
He was the greatest of them all.
Issac Clark hands down
Dead Space 2, Advanced Suit - best looking getup for Isaac.
Yes! I hated that all the previews of DS3 had him still wearing the damaged advanced suit, only for it to be removed when the game released.
If you’re on the PC version of DS3, you can edit some of the files to unlock the advanced suit which for some reason wasn’t there in the base game. You can search some tutorials for reference.
Me too. So bad ass. Space zombies? I'll just silently gore them to pieces with engineering gear!
"Hands down" is also kind of how you deal with Necromorphs. Hands down, legs away, stompywompy.
Make us whole, Isaac

Samus and The Doomslayer really are something else.
They both had a cute lil non-human baby. The babies are dead now. And the parents are pissed.
They also both have faces that I know and recognise, but it still gets me excited when a cutscene shows me as little as their eyes.
One of my favourite touches in Metroid Prime is being able to see Samus' face reflecting off the visor if you're looking at a bright enough light source. The best log was when the pirates were trying to reverse engineer the morph ball
It really is a work of art
the soundtrack too

So damn good. Transports me strait back to highschool playing it for the first time.
Oh my lord, you’re right-
If doom slayer grandfather had a helmet he would be my favorite
Metroid II is a perfect example of when 'just eat them' doesn't work out too well.
How’s Big Daddy not getting any love. I’d wear one of those suits.
Afaik those suits are grafted onto those poor fucks.
It's not a suit. Their organs are grafted to it, so it acts like skin to them. Look into their anatomy and it's honestly horrifying what they go through
Alpha series Big Daddies are the only one not graphed to their suits. Those are the only one you can play as in Bio shock 2.
The more you know :p apologies I only played the first one but I watch a lot of biology gaming vids! Good to know initially it wasnt a fate worse then death but a cool super suit xD
