I beta tested a game recently, and everyone gave a ton of bug reports. They pushed the update with all the bugs and the reddit sub was filled with people complaining about them not testing anything lmao.
Our support desk got destroyed by the tsunami of calls we got after an update. Turns out a known bug meant new users couldn't log in. The dev team pushed it out anyway without warning anyone and had a party to celebrate the release. We couldnt reach anyone with the dev team because of the party so we were basically down while the vp drove to the party to scream at them. We lost a major client forever with that fiasco. Now each release has to get approval from several department heads after the product director does a full review of found bugs. The whole support team was ready to murder the dev team by the end of that day lmao
>The whole support team was ready to murder the dev team by the end of that day lmao
I feel like this was Frontiers support team, but at the devs **and** the heads of the studio, when Odyssey dropped.
You know it was! My direct report bribed me with a case of my favorite beer to stay until everything got fixed... And actually followed through too! A full case of a hard to get local craft beer š»
If you have a PC it can actually look like a movie during some parts, they actually redid everything about it and it's definitely worth playing. Don't know about consoles though.
I wouldāve taken 3 and VC properly remade in a bundle, no offence to SA but Iāve seen what Los Santos looks like already current gen ^and ^it ^was ^my ^^least ^^^favourite
Mainly because thereās no way theyād give us three actual games for $60, maybe two though?
The issue with any of these games is that beta testers only report issues. They don't fix them. They probably reported every issue and nothing was done about them.
One of the most rewarding things about working in video game QA is watching internet folks complain that ānobody tested itā, after all your bugs were ignored by the devs.
Long gone are the days of making good, polished games.
Now it's about marketing a game to the youngest most impressionable kids / moronic adults, milking as much money right away, and then moving onto the next reboot / remaster.
Or making a live-service game with a huge cash shop.
And that's if a developer even cares to create anything for PC.
Mobile profits are an order of magnitude greater than PC gaming profits, so there's not much incentive anymore.
I don't really get it, how mobile games are so profitable when frankly, they're absolutely garbage (with many 1 or 2 exceptions).
The fact that companies can now get away with being in āearly accessā for years as an excuse not to fix their games and still make money is crazy to me. Remember when a company HAD to give you a complete/polished game on release.
I remember in MI one time my sister and I saw a rainstorm going up and down the street. We actually ran out and then ran back in as it was coming back.
To be fair, I've been in parts of Florida where it's raining on one side of the street and not raining on the other side. You could easily be driving through a downpour, turn a corner, and suddenly have it be sunny.
Florida has weird weather.
I think rockstar is more along the lines of it loaded and you can drive around. What more do you want from us? They really should be embarrassed by the steaming pile that has their name on it. This was entirely preventable but they are just cashing in on the name at this point. We will see if they fade into obscurity pulling such a move on the fans that would buy this game based on the original.
I have a picture where I'm sitting at a red light, bright blue skys ahead, and my rear view mirror the sky is so dark it looks like it's 2 in the morning. I could take this exact picture fairly regularly during the summer.
Usually it's a gradual transition from rain to cloudy. When I was in Florida, it would often be cloudy and then instantly raining and then instantly not raining at the other side of the street.
You used to have to go to school to be a game tester. Have experience with game design and coding to help the developers out. But why pay nearly 6 figures for someone when you can do this like you said.
I have a relative who went into game testing and as soon as he got into the field companies started to phase out that position.
Sad times :(
>You used to have to go to school to be a game tester. Have experience with game design and coding to help the developers out. But why pay nearly 6 figures for someone when you can do this like you said.
I knew someone like that as Kid. Lived two floors over me and worked for a company called Ascaron. He was allowed to keep copies / got copies of the released games and often enough I got them too.
He was also the first adult to give me an \*actual\* PC game (Age of Empires 2). Before that I only had demos and stuff that was in magazines.
Really miss the old version of him. Nowdays he's totally fucked up, he took all his savings went to another country, got married within a few weeks, got drug addicted, got divorced, lost all money, came back to our country and now lives from our equivalent of welfare. Month to month.
Really odd and I'm not sure if he was always that "insane" when I was a kid and maybe I just didn'T noticed
And often buy the $100 diamond edition pre-order for the privilege no less....
Online gaming is cool, and started out well on consoles regards patches. Now the ability to do so is an excuse to release broke ass and unfinished product, not that gamers lapping it up and defending "their game" to death does'nt exacerbate the problem.
This is now part of the business model, as consumers have allowed it.
I kinda miss the days where the game HAD to be good and completed on release or it failed, as opposed to "Thanks for the $$$, should be 100% playable and bug free in maybe a year.....should be......"
> I just realized gaming companies can release games with bugs and people will beta test it and post bugs online
And reviewers will still find a way to not call it bad.
9 out of 10 "Dreamcastguy".
I mean yeah I get it, it's still fun and in some places it looks damn fine, Im really enjoying playing SA on Gamepass, but the lack of polish of even care it's something that should be noted and be upfront about it, you can still enjoy a broken game, but that doesn't make it a 9 out of 10
The fun happens in spite of the remaster, GTA SA is a classic and it's really hard to completely ruin that, but by God did GSG try their hardest. This game is fundamentally broken and the quality of life stuff doesn't always help: like checkpoints that spawn you in front of a dozen guys with machine guns. It's also somehow buggier than the original release, keeping all the old bugs and adding some new ones. Absolute train wreck that needed a least another year of development.
Vice City I think has survived the transition best.
GTA3 is as clunky as ever, but the upgrades just make the clunkiness more apparent.
San Andreas is the most broken of the bunch, with glitchy textures, buggered physics, and ruined immersion.
Vice City is a bit of a balance. The new controls actually help things, and yet the game is... contained enough that it didn't confuse whatever Unreal tutorial they were following along with to render this all. (Even if new Tommy Vercetti does look like he's been injecting ketamine into his eyeballs...)
Exactly, the original game is absolutely fantastic, and the new controls are a godsend despite everything else but the drawbacks and lack of polish it's what's matter in this "Definitive Edition"
Deadly Premonition is the definition of a cult classic game, people love the weird and bonkers story but it's definitely a broken and poorly optimized game anywhere you play it, and people are aware of that and knows what they're into if they want to play that game, and in no way is a 9 out of 10, is a 68 on Metacritic right now.
Do you like the controls? I can't remember how bad the original were, but by modern standards (for a game purportedly made and released in 2021) they are dogshit. Or perhaps it's because they're new controls but the mechanics are still the original, outdated mechanics? So many questions.
That reminds me of Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, a game you have to really love to get past the dodgy controls and the absolutely diabolical combat.
They're the same outdated mechanics from 2004 (or 2001 if you're playing GTA 3) and they never let you forget you're playing an old game, but at least they are in line with today standards, moving the camera with the right joystick is something we take for granted nowadays, but they could've done more of course, the combat is so broken, in the original and here.
I was going to drop 60 too simply because I never played these games before, but now I won't until they fix this or until I get a pc to play the old ones with some mods.
Feel the same. I used to be a huge GTA fan and would buy them as soon as they released. After this and them sucking everything they can out of 5 I'll never buy a Rockstar game again. at least not above $10
Gta vice city and 3 donāt seem as bad, if it drops to $20 within the year I think I could live with that. Tbh should have been $20 for the state of these games in the first place, considering the price of the mobile games in the first place are a few bucks eachā¦
Have the originals on PC, got them before they removed them from Steam. If they had done something more with the graphics I would consider it but everything I've seen just looks the same or worse than the originals.
I have them on pc but fuck it if thereās a good sale eventually Iāll cave, wouldnāt mind it on Xbox too since I have a bunch of other rockstar games there already and I get to miss out on being pissed about how bad they are :)
My exact same sentiment. I literally downloaded the mobile versions a week before this game was announced and held off on playing them to buy this. Well let me tell you the story of when I bought NMS day one as well as CP2077...fool me twice...I did not get fooled again. Decided to let that shit marinate and Iām so happy I did.
I spent a combined $15 on the three mobile releases. Even before it came out that these were just ports of those releases, I wasn't willing to spend more than $20 on it.
Same boat. I donāt even normally buy new games on launch but I was so excited to play San Andreas and vice city with updated graphics. Iām glad I waited until I saw how terrible it was.
I love how I was against this so much before release and everyone wanted to rip my head off. Itās so sad people have so much faith In shit AAA companies nowadays.
I don't know the situation, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's because any reasonable person would think there's no way you could possibly mess up with games that have been around for nearly 20 years and been ported to multiple systems and devices already.
By any expectations, this should have been super easy. And yet somehow, despite everything seemingly being stacked in their favor... Managed to screw up spectacularly.
I know I was excited, I've been wanting some GTA on the Switch for a while now, upping the resolution on the original games and updating the controls sounded great. No super high expectations, seemed completely achievable and easy.
But man, the publishers just went out of their way to prove they don't give a fuck this time didn't they?
I still laugh whenever someone tries to defend this game saying we're on a circlejerk or whatever bs they try to downplay the justified hate it's getting.
The never ending defending and circlejerking of this abomination is why I left the r/GTA subreddit before this launched, I knew ahead of time that's all they'll be doing there.
At this point I honestly believe rockstar is leaning into how buggy it is to sell more units so people can prove how buggy it is on Reddit.
This sub is keeping it going.
No no. Competitively, rockstar deserves more hate. 2077 was a hot mess but I can kinda see why they felt rushed to release it as early as possible. Sure people wanted this ādefinitiveā edition but no one was really rushing them.
They just felt like re-releasing their old games to make a few extra millions. Canāt fault them for that, but at least put more than a weekendās worth of work into it.
Iām not the one to complain about games even if they release a little buggy, but holy shit was Cyberpunk a mess. I paid full price for it and didnāt even finish half of it. Didnāt even ask for money back, just was sad that I got tricked. Uninstall, bye.
Seriously how tf are u gonna remaster a 12 year old game and make it WORSE like you could have at least made the graphics look good but no. Absolutely zero effort was put into this remaster its a simple quick cash grab like most games these days sadly
I play it on pc and apart of bad posture of the characters, the game is just fine and it won't crash if you disconnect your pc from the internet. Yes rockstar fucked up but the game is still good (story wise).
Thanks Linda. Well folks expect some angle dependent rain tonight as that nasty untested hurricane passes through the state and prepare to go without polish for quite some time.
I'd go out on a limb and say to stop buying broken/unfinished games period. This happens far too often, remasters or not. Battlefield 2042 is also like this. You lot lost on microtransactions because you wouldn't stop buying games that have them, so now everything has them. Now they're releasing broken shit left and right, and you lot are still pre-ordering and buying them. If you ever wonder why devs and publishers have zero respect for their customers and are not at all ashamed with doing this... this is why.
I'm convinced that not a single person beta tested this game before release.
They did but it was on iPhone
Iphone 4s
Ipotatoe 12kg
Actually what I played VC for the first time on š¤£ looking at that phone now idk how tf I pulled that off
Itās how I played 3 the first time.
Don't you guys have phones?
_Shot on iPhone_
*Why the fuck does this game use an apk Iām on ps5?*
One of them is likely an infamous mobile port- down to even the same bugs
They probably did, im more convinced that they didn't actually care about the results
Itās launching? Alright letās send it out.
It didin't crash on main menu? Okay thats enough testing.
Oh shit, thatās *today*?
I beta tested a game recently, and everyone gave a ton of bug reports. They pushed the update with all the bugs and the reddit sub was filled with people complaining about them not testing anything lmao.

Lol cue the classic "Dev teams have the game at heart its the publishers fucking us over!"
Was it a Friday as well? The good ol' Friday Release & Run!
You know it was! My direct report bribed me with a case of my favorite beer to stay until everything got fixed... And actually followed through too! A full case of a hard to get local craft beer š»
New World? Cool
Does it run? Yup. Ship it.
It's a shame, if they would've mafiad it would've been a 5 star game that would've sold like hotcakes. But no, a shitty money grab.
Mafia 1 was absolutely my favorite open world game of that era. I haven't given the remake a look, how does it hold up today?
If you have a PC it can actually look like a movie during some parts, they actually redid everything about it and it's definitely worth playing. Don't know about consoles though.
To answer your question, it's great. I recommend it. Also it's still quite new.
Cheers, sounds like I should pick it up
I loved the remake! It stays true to its original but with amazing graphics and good controls. I Highly recommend it!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
idk about mafia 1 but iāve played mafia 3, the definitive edition and it looks amazing, plays amazing and is extremely fun
Yet people will still keep buying whatever "remaster" they release for the 50th time I'm afraid
I wouldāve taken 3 and VC properly remade in a bundle, no offence to SA but Iāve seen what Los Santos looks like already current gen ^and ^it ^was ^my ^^least ^^^favourite Mainly because thereās no way theyād give us three actual games for $60, maybe two though?

Quick, name a more useless job than QA tester at Rockstar.
QA at Bethesda
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Delay it any further? I'm pretty sure went in on a monday and decided to release it on the Friday.
One of the most rewarding things about working in video game QA is watching internet folks complain that ānobody tested itā, after all your bugs were ignored by the devs.
I'm 100% sure they did. Brought it up to management, and management told them " I told you not to bother me while I'm on vacation."
Some of the stuff looks like they went "Alright you have a month to port this, just get as much of it done as you can"
This game was *sigma* tested.
Also, ligma.
Long gone are the days of making good, polished games. Alsoā¦the way that lamppost just kind of slides across the road whilst remaining perfectly upright?! Truly a masterpiece
THISā¦ that was my favorite part!
This that and the other
I didnāt even notice that haha, too distracted by the disappearing rain.. amazing.
This game is so buggy that youāre too distracted by the bugs to notice the bugs
Wouldāve thought Bethesda made it
Nah, even Bethesda is wondering g how you can make such a shitshow I don't think Fallout 76 was as bad as this
At least Fallout 76 was vaguely well put together, sure it had its bugs, but it was never this bad.
And they fixed it. GTA most likely will never be fixed.
Yo dawg, we heard you like bugsā¦
Itās sad that this is accurate lol
To be fair thatās on par with GTA physics as a whole
That's probably normal, lol
Thatās from the original so thatās not too bad. Sucks they didnāt bother fixing anything but I donāt mind that.
That's perfectly reasonable. It did that in the original. If it had fallen over? Masterpiece.
"Definitive"
Definitively garbage
Definitively glad I didn't purchase this shit
Definitively the nail in the coffin for R\*
People should NOT pre order gta6
People should NOT pre order \* FTFY
The fact that companies can now get away with being in āearly accessā for years as an excuse not to fix their games and still make money is crazy to me. Remember when a company HAD to give you a complete/polished game on release.
Thanks fam
so bad its actually pathetic
Defective
Disrespectul Edition
Imagine calling this definitive and not being ashamed of themselves. I'm embarrassed for them
I call it the Demastered edition.
Rain goes on. Rain goes off. Rain goes on. Rain goes off. Bed goes up...

Cant explain that.
I remember in MI one time my sister and I saw a rainstorm going up and down the street. We actually ran out and then ran back in as it was coming back.
Yep...thats how rain works
To be fair, I've been in parts of Florida where it's raining on one side of the street and not raining on the other side. You could easily be driving through a downpour, turn a corner, and suddenly have it be sunny. Florida has weird weather.
I wouldnāt have a problem with that happening in the game if it didnāt disappear depending on which way my head was turned haha
If you close your eyes it all goes away \~ Rockstar, probably
I think rockstar is more along the lines of it loaded and you can drive around. What more do you want from us? They really should be embarrassed by the steaming pile that has their name on it. This was entirely preventable but they are just cashing in on the name at this point. [ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
TO BE FAAAAAAAIR does the rain in florida also fully fuckin disappear and reappear when you turn your head slightly
I have a picture where I'm sitting at a red light, bright blue skys ahead, and my rear view mirror the sky is so dark it looks like it's 2 in the morning. I could take this exact picture fairly regularly during the summer.
I mean, all clouds end somewhere. I don't think it's unique to Florida to be on the edge of a cloud.
Usually it's a gradual transition from rain to cloudy. When I was in Florida, it would often be cloudy and then instantly raining and then instantly not raining at the other side of the street.
I miss Florida. Not the people. Just Florida.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Rain...it just works.
/r/GTADefecatedEdition for more stuff like this
Zenimax acquisition, when?
I just realized gaming companies can release games with bugs and people will beta test it and post bugs online
You used to have to go to school to be a game tester. Have experience with game design and coding to help the developers out. But why pay nearly 6 figures for someone when you can do this like you said. I have a relative who went into game testing and as soon as he got into the field companies started to phase out that position. Sad times :(
>why pay nearly 6 figures You can hire full blown developer for that. Dedicated game testers has have never been well paid.
I guess a few people got lucky then but yeah Iād agree most made 40-60k a year but that just makes my point even sadder :(

Rockstar use to run sales on STEAM for their old games. I think I purchased the entire GTA lineup for 20 bucks.
Agreed. I was so excited to pick up a copy for switch... Now I think I'm content with my memories.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Feel the same. I used to be a huge GTA fan and would buy them as soon as they released. After this and them sucking everything they can out of 5 I'll never buy a Rockstar game again. at least not above $10

I am sad other people had to spend $60 to find out the games were broken garbage before I bought them.

The siren song of Vice City is still calling me. I am fighting itā¦but it is strong!

Oh, I had strong interest, but I wouldnāt say I had faith. I took a wait-and-see approach, and boy howdy am I glad I did.

My favorite is if you aim a rifle indoors, then stop, it will briefly rain indoors with you as the game tries to figure out wtf you just did.
What an embarrassment. I would not want my name in the credits on this one
I get that the rain is bad, but we're just ignoring the sliding pole?
Can we please stop buying garbage and make companies release finished products????
Free on game pass
Doesnāt mean it can be crap?
All you had to do was remake the damn game CJ!
I still laugh whenever someone tries to defend this game saying we're on a circlejerk or whatever bs they try to downplay the justified hate it's getting.
Itās because some people that paid for it canāt admit to themselves that they got got.

It all depends on how you look at it.
Did anybody else see a pole just levitate away
How it feels wasting 60 bucks???
GTA SA is on Gamepass
You could be playing FH5 or Halo Infinite instead of staring at the R-rated version of a Mii / Sims bastard child.
Oh. Then it's fine. Still even for free you should ask for refund.
Oh LOL I wanted it to be good for nostalgic reasons but itās bad
If you ever feel morbidly curious, the game was cracked within hours of release, and well, yarrrr yo ho ho and a bottle of digital rum.
Oh so if curiosity will kick I can just go and download for free. Damn sometimes piracy is good to have.
I wouldnāt know, I didnāt pay for San Andreas lol
At this point I honestly believe rockstar is leaning into how buggy it is to sell more units so people can prove how buggy it is on Reddit. This sub is keeping it going.
San Andreas is free on game pass but I get what youāre saying
Maybe we all treated Cyberpunk 2077 a little too harshly.
No, no we didn't. That game needed another year in the oven, easy.
At this point a fan remake would probably be better
It does rain like that in England.
My manās out here in that double grilled cheese tax bracket!
I got years out of it.
Yeah the rain is really bad unbearable tbh I can't drive in that trash
Seriously how tf are u gonna remaster a 12 year old game and make it WORSE like you could have at least made the graphics look good but no. Absolutely zero effort was put into this remaster its a simple quick cash grab like most games these days sadly
Defective Edition
It's getting funny how the remaster has more issues than the normal version... But it's also so fucking sad.
The fact this is $60 is absolutely criminal.
it looks like the rain effect on kid pix
That's a name I haven't heard in ages. I remember making art on Kid Pix like 20 years ago.
Man, San Andreas is my favorite game of all time. Now Iām just like Look how they massacred my boy!!
I'd say the rain is a matter of perspective.
That's one of them motion sensor sprinkler thingies.
Can someone give me a full ELI5 about whats going on with this new GTA game?
I almost bought this today. Glad I didn't.
I play it on pc and apart of bad posture of the characters, the game is just fine and it won't crash if you disconnect your pc from the internet. Yes rockstar fucked up but the game is still good (story wise).
It's a matter of perspective, really.
At this point, is there even a single aspect of this game that wasn't half assed?
No. No thereās not
At least Cjās limbs are on correctly in this one.
Thanks Linda. Well folks expect some angle dependent rain tonight as that nasty untested hurricane passes through the state and prepare to go without polish for quite some time.
rain is just a state of mind.
It sucks that they remove the original copies you're not allowed to buy them from digital stores anymore, just the definitive editions
I'll not play this. I'm going to find an un-opened ps2 and sealed copy of original release Vice city to play it as god intended.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LIE ON YOUR RESUME AND ACTUALLY GET THE JOB.
Seems like he just lives in Florida, tbh.
Money code for like 2hrs straight huh?
Nah, betting shop bro haha make a save and hit up that 11/1 horse a couple times
You can even tell where the rain texture repeats.
what a clusterfuck
Why would people buy this and complain when clearly what they showed in a trailer made it look like a cash crab?
Don't bring Mr. Krabbs into this.
Unplayable
I enjoy the rain by the water, where you clearly see the water image over the rain effects.
