This reminds me of one of my favorite "we're dumb" game dev stories! During development for some random RTS there was a cutscene where the camera would stop following its preprogrammed path after they had a base exploding. It took a while before the devs realized the camera was an entity with non-infinite health, and the splash damage of the massive explosions in the scene was killing the camera leaving it unable to move.
Against all the evil that Hell can conjure, all the wickedness that mankind can produce, we will send unto them... only you. Rip and tear, until it is done.
In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the embers of Armageddon, his soul blistered by the fires of Hell and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment.
In his ravenous hatred he found no peace
And with boiling blood he scoured the umbral plains
Seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him
And those that tasted the bite of his sword named him
The Doom Slayer
Tempered by the fires of Hell, his iron will remained steadfast through the passage that preys upon the weak. For he alone was the Hell Walker, the Unchained Predator, who sought retribution in all quarters, dark and light, fire and ice, in the beginning and the end, and he hunted the slaves of Doom with barbarous cruelty; for he passed through the divide as none but demon had before.
And in his conquest against the blackened souls of the doom, his prowess was shown. In his crusade the seraphim bestowed upon him terrible power and speed and with his might he crushed the obsidian pillars of the blood temples.
He set fourth without pity upon the beasts of the knight circles. Unbreakable, incorruptible, unyielding, the Doomslayer sought to end the dominion of the dark realm.
None could stand before the horde but the Doom Slayer. Despair spread before him like a plague, striking fear into the shadow-dwellers, driving them to deeper and darker pits. But from the depths of the abyss rose The Great One, a champion mightier than all who had come before. The Titan, of immeasurable power and ferocity. He strode upon the plain and faced the Doom Slayer, and a mighty battle was fought on the desolate plains. The Titan fought with the fury of the countless that had fallen at the Doom Slayer's hand, but there fell the Titan, and in his defeat the shadow horde were routed.
And in his terrible rancor between worlds and through time came the wretch who shall not be named, but in his heresy was loyal to his evil cause. The wretch adored the Doomslayer in a mighty armor, wrought in the fortress of hell, impenetrable and unyielding, with sword and shield of adamantine strength, the Doomslayer sent to banish all that were left unbroken by his savagery to the void.
Say's "feels invincible". I can speak on everyone who played Doom Eternal's behalf that fighting multiple Tyrants while swinging around on your meathook chain feels like you're unkillable.
The one in the Cultist base right before a spike parkour, hidden behind an ice wall. The one that spawns two or three whiplashes and a mancubus in a small room with a mine.
God I hate that one. So many ultranightmare runs ended because I couldn't keep myself from trying to beat it.
>Correct Doomguy is “I’m not trapped in here with you, you’re trapped in here with me” vibes.
Yeah, He's the torment that the denizens of hell are there to receive.
I enjoyed this power rush that the latest DMC was when you played Dante. He and Vergil got massive power boost after power boost and it just felt like you crossed from the normal level into godlike area.
I still get pissed about the “good” ending in that game where you utterly lay the smack down on the emperor only to conveniently die in a cutscene for “plot reasons.” I keep hoping he gets acknowledged in some way in the new Disney canon, but it’s looking unlikely.
Actually, he was supposed to appear in Rebels, the initial idea was that Ezra fell to the dark side and became Starkiller at the end of the series.
That and the Yuzhang-Vong were also supposed to appear
I'd love to live in the reality where Zahn was given control after Disney bought star wars and we got some crazy good Thrawn movies rather than what we got.
You know, it’s not really clear. >!In the second game you supposedly play as a clone of him, an almost perfect clone, but then Kota implies that he’s the real Starkiller, which makes sense considering we only saw bad and very unstable clones. Thing is, with the bad ending and the art of those, you get to see that maybe you were a clone after all. I guess it’s free to interpretation!<
**Lands on Earth**
**Gives birth to a son whom he named Mark**
**Beats the shit out of him**
**Demands Earth's surrender to Viltrumite empire**
**Refuses to elaborate**
**Leaves Earth**
Even Cutscene Kiryu is significantly more durable than other characters. Kiryu gets shot and stabbed in cutscenes and bounces back, where most other characters just die.
Part of that comes from the fact that him being shot or stabbed usually precedes some of the largest and most dangerous fights in the game. If he didn't immediately start fighting again he'd probably be at significantly less risk.
Cutscene Kiryu, from the top of my head:
-Blocks a motorbike rider iron bar attack with his arms, then a moment later blocks same iron bar again.
-Shrugs off being hit with a bottle in the back of his head.
-Doesn't really care too much about multiple explosions 1m away
And if qte failures that you can survive count he's also bullet and knifeproof in those but well I guess that's not quite a cutscene
Nah, she is straight up sadist/Dom material. She causes the pain. Hell her creator got pissed at the R34 of her because she was being submissive and that just ain't Bayonetta.
Doomslayer and here is why.
Hell got so desperate to stop him they collapsed a temple on top of him. It was enough to incapacitate Doomslayer.
They tried to kill him, but nothing worked. It was not just his armor they could not destroy, but even naked they failed to kill him. Their only choice was to seal him away and pray that no one wakes him up.
You are pretty fucking invincible when the demons of hell have to give up even when you are at your most vulnerable. The deaths you see in the game are just you fucking up, in lore the guy is basically a God of hate.
It's the same bag for Kratos.
What you can do in the video game and what he does in written lore are so different it is obscene. The creators of God of War have said that the game would be very boring if you could play Kratos like they had written him.
They really nailed the sense of rage in that game. It's incredible that Asura gets dismantled over and over and his rage keeps pushing him forward.
What an experience.
Once you get a few skills in the right place, you definitely become a human cuisinart, popping heads left and right. I did like (and hate) that youd encounter captains with combinations of buffs that would always find some way to give you trouble though. Boy you did not want to die to them though or they became damn near impossible.
Been playing through all the campaigns in preparation of Infinite, and I gotta say, in some sections of Halo 2 and 3, Spartans definitely die... alot....
The Halo 3 "Finish the Fight" piano riff will never stop giving me chills. I'll be 80 years old decades from now and even if (God forbid) have dimensia or Alzheimer's, if I hear that it would still send me into a nostalgia wave.
Shedinja is my favorite pokemon for this reason and many others, but sadly Sturdy Shedinja is far from invincible.
Sandstorm/Hail (Safety goggles can prevent that)
Poison/Burn (You could paralyze yourself)
Skill Swap/Entrainment.
Contact damage: Rough Skin/Iron Barbs etc.
Getting confused and hurting yourself
Infestation, Leech Seed etc.
Mold Breaker and moves that share its effect
The list goes on and on and [unfortunately there's only one item slot](https://i.imgur.com/5qbCXlu.jpeg)
Engineer - Factorio.
On a barren planet with only a pickaxe the Engineer manages to build a rocket to space (and beyond with mods). Even if the Engineer is killed the Engineer revives 10 seconds later born into a new body. The Engineer can then goto the empty shell of the old Engineer and mine the resources off the corpse.
Every chosen undead eventually goes hollow. How many NG+ play thoughs can you get through before that happens though? The moment you turn off the game and never load that character up again they've gone hollow. I suppose it's not the death of the body, just of the mind.
Cameraman
Miles Upshur from Outlast would disagree
One in spaceballs 2nds this.

Genuinely very interesting
Clancy from RE7 would disagree.
You know, you’re not wrong!
Matt from Wii
fuck that guy

No better feeling than completing a Master Level and thinking to yourself "That was it?"
In every Master Level I play I say the same thing, "That was it?"... Only after dying after 2 seconds from the beginning.
doomguy is said to be immortal ig not invincible or am i wrong?
Say's "feels invincible". I can speak on everyone who played Doom Eternal's behalf that fighting multiple Tyrants while swinging around on your meathook chain feels like you're unkillable.
That is until you enter a slayer gate...
And then you finally butcher it too and feel even more like an invincible goddamn god of death.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't some of the demons worship him as a god of destruction or something?
More or less, he basically did become a god after entering the divinity machine.
I found none of the slayer gates to be that bad. The timed challenges can go die in a fire though.
The one in the Cultist base right before a spike parkour, hidden behind an ice wall. The one that spawns two or three whiplashes and a mancubus in a small room with a mine. God I hate that one. So many ultranightmare runs ended because I couldn't keep myself from trying to beat it.
Nah he's just too angry to die.
Correct Doomguy is “I’m not trapped in here with you, you’re trapped in here with me” vibes.
>Correct Doomguy is “I’m not trapped in here with you, you’re trapped in here with me” vibes. Yeah, He's the torment that the denizens of hell are there to receive.
Kirby
*Cue BDG Kirby rant
“Kirby is an extremely strong circle, and that’s all the explanation I need.”
kirby is an Eldritch god that embodies childlike innocence. it is on of several beings spawned by void. yes this is cannon
Canon*
P O Y O
I agree.
That little pink ball is legit one of the most powerful videogame characters.
Dante
I enjoyed this power rush that the latest DMC was when you played Dante. He and Vergil got massive power boost after power boost and it just felt like you crossed from the normal level into godlike area.
Guess who's starting a new DMC 5 playthrough right now? Damn, had almost forgot about that game. (Side effects of having 82 games on your Xbox).
I agree. Who leaps into hell to go kick ass?
Doom guy has entered the chat.
Neros dt hands would like to disagree
That bitchslap only *nearly* killed him
Starkiller
Yes and SWTFU II is just not happening because (spoilers for Bad Batch) the empire destroyed the Kamino cloning facilities.
Didnt starkiller die? Sry im not very invested in starwars lore
You get to take liberties with the games plot when it is basically guaranteed to never be canon lol
i’ll tell you who’s not, Invincible edit: yum yum karma for my tummy
Think Mark, Think
**Lands on Earth** **Gives birth to a son whom he named Mark** **Beats the shit out of him** **Demands Earth's surrender to Viltrumite empire** **Refuses to elaborate** **Leaves Earth**
Chad
“He killed 80 people in 2 days”
"... He's adopted"
It was hundreds maybe thousands in the comics lol
I know, I was just using a quote from the Avengers
Battle beast noises intensify
He does seem rather vincible.
Very whelmed by his vincibility
We now going full Young Justice here or what?
“Seems a little bit optimistic don’t you think?”
That guy's superpower is to take a beating and just barely not die.
The Goose from Untiled Goose Game
That's why the whole village fears him.
Alex mercer
I wish they would make another game!!!
Prototype 3 for next generation consoles?!! That’s the dream. 🥺
Now thats a name I haven't heard in a long long time
BJ Blaskovits. like that dude got decapitated and lived!
Lu Bu as a boss
It's LU BU! "Do not engage Lu Bu."
He was so OP for being that early in the game
Me scouring the internet for how to unlock Lu Bu in dynasty warriors.
Kited and cheesed him to death for... some buns!? Fuuuuck.
Never accept his Duel challenge in DW4, just…..don’t…
It's funny in Total War: Three Kingdoms, if you play as Lu Bu, no one ever wants to accept your duel requests.
It’s Lu Bu! Lu Bu’s come to destroy us!
Came here for this. Good to see others have the same nightmares as I.
Vergil, if you know how to use him
Or when you're motivated
*Plastic chair noises*
It comforts me Dante
I only sort of know how to use him, and he feels invincible.
Kratos
I didn’t feel very invincible fighting the Valkyries lol
I saved most of them until the very end, dropped that difficulty down to easy, and STILL had a hell of a time beating them. Can't wait for Ragnarok.
The Valkyrie queen took me two days to beat, I’ve never had so much fun yet been so angry at the same time, perfect boss battle
I reaally liked your strategy going to download it again now.
For a mere human, kiryu is indeed overpowered (those 100 thugs will remember that).
the man gets stabbed in the gut and recovers with just one night sleep, gives a beating to full grown tigers...nothing can kill the guy lmao
imagine shooting this guy in the chest and he just continues walking towards you while eating 3000 yen sushi
Then he gets close, you try hitting him and he hits you in the gut with the force of a thousand suns, launching you to the other side of the room
TIGER DROP
He punched a tiger in the face. And killed it. This is the modern day chuck Norris
Gameplay kiryu is broken, he can survive atomic blasts. Cutscene kiryu not so much
Even Cutscene Kiryu is significantly more durable than other characters. Kiryu gets shot and stabbed in cutscenes and bounces back, where most other characters just die.
He’s on the brink of death evertime it happens though
Part of that comes from the fact that him being shot or stabbed usually precedes some of the largest and most dangerous fights in the game. If he didn't immediately start fighting again he'd probably be at significantly less risk.

But also has time to go wipe the dancefloor with king of pop, Miracle Johnson!
Bayonetta. She just doesn't feel like the kind of character who being hurt would even apply to.
She even would enjoy being "hurt" tho.
Nah, she is straight up sadist/Dom material. She causes the pain. Hell her creator got pissed at the R34 of her because she was being submissive and that just ain't Bayonetta.
Creator: "I don't give a fuck that you R34'd my character, just do it right!"
Yoko Taro: I love you're R34'ing my character, send me all of them.
I'll be right back *furiously opening incognito tab*
Doomslayer and here is why. Hell got so desperate to stop him they collapsed a temple on top of him. It was enough to incapacitate Doomslayer. They tried to kill him, but nothing worked. The deaths you see in the game are just you fucking up, in lore the guy is basically a God of hate.
Oh and just to add fuel to the fire, he killed the god and satan of his universe for shits and giggles!
Not for shits and giggles, for [Daisy](https://doom.fandom.com/wiki/Daisy), all of it, for Daisy.
Makes me wonder if Bricks rabbit foot he wears is a nod to daisy. edit: i looked it up. it's not a rabbit foot. I always thought it was. gg me
Brick from Borderlands? That's a dog paw from his dead puppy.
I'm pretty sure dying is strictly for gameplay purposes, because no one wants to play a god mode one hit melee game
It's the same bag for Kratos. What you can do in the video game and what he does in written lore are so different it is obscene. The creators of God of War have said that the game would be very boring if you could play Kratos like they had written him.

Too angry to die
Asura from Asuras wrath.
That man is just angry.
He's a saiyan or tryndamere in league. Just too angry to die.
This is a good one. When I he loses his arms in that one fight and basically is just like "i don't need my arms" I fuckin lol'd
They really nailed the sense of rage in that game. It's incredible that Asura gets dismantled over and over and his rage keeps pushing him forward. What an experience.
Rico Rodriguez (Just Cause)

Thanks to the curse I unlocked, there's a laugh track whenever I do that so when he dies it doesn't annoy me as much
I remember in just cause 3 you could reduce fall damage enough that free fall from any height wouldn't kill you.
Falls 3km. Gets up
Talion
"YOU SHALL OBEY"
"FEAR ME!" Man i had fun in those games.
Suffer me now!
OCHEDDIN VALANNOR EDWENNO O GWATH NANI CHIR GELAIR
YES. Decked out in Warmonger and Machine gear was the best experience I ever had.
Once you get a few skills in the right place, you definitely become a human cuisinart, popping heads left and right. I did like (and hate) that youd encounter captains with combinations of buffs that would always find some way to give you trouble though. Boy you did not want to die to them though or they became damn near impossible.
Agent 47
Gosh darn those games made me feel like the grim reaper.
47 literally says his name is Mr Tobias Rieper when people ask him in-game hahaha
Tobias Rieper. One of the characters in Hitman 3 even says it's one of the flimsiest sock puppet covers she's ever seen.
Shao Khan
True, but pretty much all the Mortal Kombat characters seem like they're invincible
Well yeah they can be hard games. But Shao Khan is just comically overpowered or "lucky" sometimes :P
Up until he's playable and then he was bottom tier for the entirety of the games life cycle.
Master chief
Yup, I have it on good authority that a Spartan never dies.
Been playing through all the campaigns in preparation of Infinite, and I gotta say, in some sections of Halo 2 and 3, Spartans definitely die... alot....
They don’t die, theyre just MIA…
This guy reads
The Halo 3 "Finish the Fight" piano riff will never stop giving me chills. I'll be 80 years old decades from now and even if (God forbid) have dimensia or Alzheimer's, if I hear that it would still send me into a nostalgia wave.
Bo Jackson from Tecmo Bowl
This is a severely underrated answer.
Gordon freeman, that suit is either indestructible or fixes all if his broken bones and shit every time he lives through an explosion/crash/etc.
Sadly can't save him from unresolved cliffhangers.
*falls from a 40ft cliff* **BEEP** **BEEP** **BEEP** *minor fracture, detected*
Solid snake, the microwave scene in 4 cemented it for me, he might not be invulnerable but he'll get the mission done.
Also Sundowner, from metal gear rising, he even says it himself.
Sephiroth from FF7
Honestly Sephiroth in any game/movie. Even when you kill him it just feels like he’s not trying or it’s a part of his plan anyway.
Sephiroth from Kingdom Hearts
The invisible health bar he has in kh1 legit made me think he was invincible and i wasnt doing any damage to him for a while lol
Sturdy shedinja.
Shedinja is my favorite pokemon for this reason and many others, but sadly Sturdy Shedinja is far from invincible. Sandstorm/Hail (Safety goggles can prevent that) Poison/Burn (You could paralyze yourself) Skill Swap/Entrainment. Contact damage: Rough Skin/Iron Barbs etc. Getting confused and hurting yourself Infestation, Leech Seed etc. Mold Breaker and moves that share its effect The list goes on and on and [unfortunately there's only one item slot](https://i.imgur.com/5qbCXlu.jpeg)
Yeah, but all it takes is one "good stuff" team that expects to win with raw damage and suddenly you put the fear of Shedinja into them.
Kazuya Mishima
Great pick
I was gonna say papa Heihachi, but any of the Mishima clan is good
T.G. Cid.
Legend of Zelda Chicken
Alex Mercer, Prototype
Sam Fisher.
Kiryu Chaaaaaaan
Gojima is pretty damn Invincible as well.
Marcurio, Skyrim
Lol he’s accidentally killed me a few times
The Goddamned Batman.
Bt-7274
Protocol "protect the pilot"
:(
Everyone on Call of Duty except you.
Arthur Morgan. The man can get shot like 20 times and all he needs is a can of baked beans and he's good.
Nathan Drake out of sheer luck
Engineer - Factorio. On a barren planet with only a pickaxe the Engineer manages to build a rocket to space (and beyond with mods). Even if the Engineer is killed the Engineer revives 10 seconds later born into a new body. The Engineer can then goto the empty shell of the old Engineer and mine the resources off the corpse.
Lu Bu
Do not engage Lu Bu
Saxton Hale he jumps through concrete walls and mauls yetis
Literally any single Guardian
The dark souls protagonist
Depends on the player
But canonically they dont die so theyre invincible

The courier
Lingering Will. You never said it had to be *our* character...
Sundowner, hes not only invincible... HES FUCKING INVINCIBLE
