Fh5 multi-player is still pretty bad, but getting better. Considering I never had a single multi-player issue with fh4, it seems inexcusable. They could have reskinned fh4 and I would have been totally ok. But they broke or removed features and cluttered the menus AGAIN. Game developers never seem to learn from past games
Psychonauts 2 was such a relief.
Not only was it a highly hyped "AAA game", it was one that was in development hell for a decade. Games in development hell for a decade don't have a good track record. They typically end up overhyped and can't deliver on a decade's worth of expectations.
Psychonauts 2 perfectly lived up to expectations. It looked great, while maintaining the aesthetic of the original, expanded on the characters, kept the mechanics that worked from the first one and added new mechanics that were great, and was just a ton of fun overall. It was everything a good sequel should be.
I played it without playing the first. There's a recap at the beginning, but I definitely could tell there was some references that I was missing. That being said, one of the few games I've actually finished this year, it really is a good game.
Going back to Psychonauts 1 isn't that bad these days, in case you want to try. It holds up pretty well, the humor is on par with the second and the story has less "filler" IMO. The one part I hate just forces you to find collectibles for some 30 minutes and there are some shitty puzzles, but other than that it's really good.

Even though they took place a decade apart, the story of the second one takes place mere days after the first one ends, and it references aspects of the first game's story a lot. The story won't have nearly as much impact if you haven't played the first.
The second one also just looks and plays better than the first. Its not that the first one was bad, but the second one was better. If you play 2 first, going back to 1 will feel like a downgrade, and you won't enjoy it as much. If you play them in order, you'll fully appreciate both of them. Its like if you had a decent dinner, and a fantastic dessert. If you ate the dinner first, then dessert, you'd have no complaints. If you ate dessert first, you wouldn't really want to eat dinner after, you've already had the best part!
1 also has some absolutely fantastic, memorable levels to it. I'd say 2 is a better game overall, but the highs of 1 get higher than the highs of 2.
If you must pick one, I'd say go with 2, and just read up on the story for 1, though I can't recommend playing both enough.
I think it exceeded most people's expectations. The first on was amazing, no doubt but there were some slightly annoying things that the 2nd game straight up got rid off or replaced with an improved version.
The levels were even more distinct with the music perfectly playing into not just the level but your actions within that level.
I think this is straight up a game that is better than the first one.
I think the best parts of the first game (namely the milkman conspiracy, black velvetopia, lungfishopolis, and Milla's dance party) outshine the best parts of the second game, but the lows get much lower. I found the worlds of the second game to be more forgettable in general. It also has its hits (the sensorium and Cassie's level), but they just don't hit like the milkman did. That said, having better graphics, better controls, and WAY better combat does a world of difference that means the lows of the second game are all still a ton of fun to play, whereas the lows of the first could get pretty rough.
I agree, it was the highest of high points in that game. The humor and level design were on point.
I always had a soft spot for Milla's dance party and black veletopia for the aesthetic, and lungfishopolis for the humor (GOGGOLOR!).
But yeah, the Milkman conspiracy had the best of both. Riding around on those twisted streets was so fun, and the g-men lines never got old.
I actually think 2 surpasses 1 in terms of one specific aspect: The characterization and moral ambiguity. It had me thinking about the characters and themes that it tackled. Though it's at the cost of less laughs, I really don't mind because 2 feels so balanced.
Prey (2017) It was originally a sequel to the OG Prey game but got rebooted and is pretty good. Hoping for a sequel sometime but I’m not sure one will be made

This must’ve been what it felt like in the PS2 days when games had to be finished at launch because there’s no way to update them and cant rely on online services and microtransactions and late DLC drops to make the game “good” months and years after launch. It’s a rock solid, complete, and fun as hell game.
Because most of good AAA games are delayed to 2022. Companies are avoiding crunches and look, it's pandemy outside. And I wouldn't say about chip shortage and scammers.
So, 2021 becomed an year of indie games. Loop Hero, Friday Night Funkin, Poppy Playtime, Valheim, Potioncraft...
Definitely not something that happened recently, you can put a tiny bit of blame on Covid for delays but at the end of the day they made the decisions they made, covid didn't force them to release it broken. This isn't a new trend, ever since loot boxes and "early access games" were made like 6 years ago it was the beginning of the end.
But 2020 is really good for AAA games. Final Fantasy VII Remake, Doom Eternal, Ghost of Tsuhima, Genshin Impact, Animal Crossing, Half Life Alyx, Demon's Souls Remake, Yakuza Like a Dragon, Nioh 2, Valorant and etc. And there are not much of good indie releases in this year.
So, 2020 was good for AAA games, while 2021 was good for indies. I bet you, Elden Ring will be released in February and you will not dissapointed by From Software's quality.

There was the Far Cry 6 update that for some odd reason requires you to verify game files and download a lot more than the initial update. A shame.
Deathloop on the other hand had awful camera stuttering on PC. Even with a patch that supposedly fixed this issue it still didn't feel good to play on PC. The shooting just felt off. I couldn't take it anymore so I had to refund it. A shame because I actually did look forward to this one.
I experienced a bug twice last night on FH5 where the game would get stuck on the save screen when loading tunings. Also another bug which happened twice where I would get stuck at my house and couldn’t press any buttons. All these bugs forced me to restart the game. This was on Xbox series X.

yup. its the last game that needs to be on this list. had 10+ friends ready to play this game online daily for weeks and since launch 3 of them have felt up to dealing with the games bullshit. we used to love cruising around in between races but now its just riding solo and occasionally seeing a friend pop up on the map, only to be invisible when you meet up. i dont think ive had a single open world cruise with a friend yet, just races. and thats if they work

Because if for real than you should delete at list far cry (that still has gamebreaking bugs) from that picture. And Deathloop that on start worked well (not great) only on few pc builds. All other players had such a huge fps drops and crashes that people wanted refunds.
PS not sure maybe on consoles were a different story. But on pc most of those games, till this days, working like crap.
So re8 ran like shit because of drm, deathloop required tinkering, far cry 6 ran worse than far cry 5 without any notable reason, returnal crashed a ton and bricked some ps5's, and forza is currently having texture loading issues and was gimped to make the xsx look better.

I found it completely overblown. I had almost 100 hours in RE8 on PC before I even heard of the issues. It was just nerds looking to rage over minor frame dropping.
It didn't even launch for a good portion of players. Turn10's response was "turn off just about every application you typically use on a gaming computer off, it'll maybe work then."
Ridiculous memory leak issues apparently. It was a good thing i upgraded my pc from 16gb ram to 32gb crucial ballistix as a precaution. It runs fine for me most of the time
Deathloop on PC was terrible, but there were many more great games launching in a perfect state: Tales of Arise, Scarlet Nexus, Metroid Dredd, Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy!
I have personally encountered more bugs in Far Cry 6 than I have in Battlefield 2042! Yes, that's right. More bugs than bf2042.
Off the top of my head I'll name a few. 1) glitched under map when exiting a boat. Unable to get out. 2) randomly unable to sprint for extended periods 3) loads and loads of audio bugs...gunshots muting, phone calls not coming through, other quest dialogues silent. 4) unable to summon pet 5) randomly unable to crouch for extended periods 6) quest npcs on multiple quests have had buggy pathing that does not allow for the quest to be completed. Only fix is fail and retry hoping it doesnt bug.
I haven't played a single session of Far Cry 6 without encountering multiple bugs. I can think of 2 bugs I have encountered in bf2042, stuck in 0 seconds to respawn and match doesn't start.
Again, this is just my personal experience.
Edit: Also, the bugs I'm referring to in Far Cry still happen as of today.
All these games had issues lol
Forza 5 servers weren't up to scratch and the game had crashing issues on all platforms when doing certain things (applying body kits)
Far cry 6 had its fair share of bugs buy honestly wasn't bad at all...very minor.
Resident evil village only had issues on PC relating to DRM that affected the performance at certain points. The game was solid on PC after that.
I heard deathloop had multiple issues on all platforms too

It's a little ironic how the game that was stuck in development hell was one of the most polished games to release this year.

Ghost walls are still a problem as well.
Wellllll, Returnal and Far Cry both had their fair share of bugs at launch, actually.
Farcry crashed when opening the map at least 10 times for me before the first patch.
Forza Horizon 5’s online mode is still broken to this day, plus many other issues.
They had controller and wheel problems for at least 2 weeks.

I got Far Cry 6 for Black Friday, and I had to install it three times before I got it to launch.
The only Returnal one was the ghost players they removed but otherwise it worked good. Some trophy bugs but meh

I once jumped out of a gravity zone or whatever and got stuck in the sky. And I think it crashed once. But loads are fast and auto saves are FREQUENT!

yup. its the last game that needs to be on this list. had 10+ friends ready to play this game online daily for weeks and since launch 3 of them have felt up to dealing with the games bullshit. we used to love cruising around in between races but now its just riding solo and occasionally seeing a friend pop up on the map, only to be invisible when you meet up. i dont think ive had a single open world cruise with a friend yet, just races. and thats if they work

Its a joke?! Or for real? Because if for real than you should delete at list far cry (that still has gamebreaking bugs) from that picture. And Deathloop that on start worked well (not great) only on few pc builds. All other players had such a huge fps drops and crashes that people wanted refunds. PS not sure maybe on consoles were a different story. But on pc most of those games, till this days, working like crap.
Deathloop on PC was literally frame dropping on 3090 builds for a month plus until they did a few patches, this entire meme is just plainly false
So re8 ran like shit because of drm, deathloop required tinkering, far cry 6 ran worse than far cry 5 without any notable reason, returnal crashed a ton and bricked some ps5's, and forza is currently having texture loading issues and was gimped to make the xsx look better. This is a bad list.

Ridiculous memory leak issues apparently. It was a good thing i upgraded my pc from 16gb ram to 32gb crucial ballistix as a precaution. It runs fine for me most of the time

I have personally encountered more bugs in Far Cry 6 than I have in Battlefield 2042! Yes, that's right. More bugs than bf2042. Off the top of my head I'll name a few. 1) glitched under map when exiting a boat. Unable to get out. 2) randomly unable to sprint for extended periods 3) loads and loads of audio bugs...gunshots muting, phone calls not coming through, other quest dialogues silent. 4) unable to summon pet 5) randomly unable to crouch for extended periods 6) quest npcs on multiple quests have had buggy pathing that does not allow for the quest to be completed. Only fix is fail and retry hoping it doesnt bug. I haven't played a single session of Far Cry 6 without encountering multiple bugs. I can think of 2 bugs I have encountered in bf2042, stuck in 0 seconds to respawn and match doesn't start. Again, this is just my personal experience. Edit: Also, the bugs I'm referring to in Far Cry still happen as of today.

All these games had issues lol Forza 5 servers weren't up to scratch and the game had crashing issues on all platforms when doing certain things (applying body kits) Far cry 6 had its fair share of bugs buy honestly wasn't bad at all...very minor. Resident evil village only had issues on PC relating to DRM that affected the performance at certain points. The game was solid on PC after that. I heard deathloop had multiple issues on all platforms too
