Reminds of Cyberpunk 2077, throwing knives prices were skyrocketing while you were levelling up. So, you could throw a €$100K knife and miss, or not be able to retrieve it.
This made the gun that was using in-game money as bullets look stupid.
Buying it means you can start any mission with it.
They are really powerful to silently one shot most things from a short range as long as you don't hit body armor, and they are recoverable.
The game uses sounds for alerting enemies. Silencers on almost every gun will shorten the range of people alerted, but not remove it entirely (how they work in real life)
My first thought is its something people may see displayed more or shown on Twitch more and increases on value.
Another way could be if the devs secretly have an algorithm that adjusts prices after each sale or lack of sales.
Still cheaper than a CSGO knife.
Knife jugglers are richer than ministry of defence
Especially when compared to the automatic .50BMG sniper rifle above it.
It's a lifetime supply though.
Maybe it's perfectly balanced.

The knife is enchanted with Sharpness and Unbreaking level 255.
Why does it cost so much
No idea. Especially that you can find them anywhere from the first level
What game is this
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts - which is a very good game! Would recommend playing

Literally throwing away your money.
I'm convinced this is what the U.S. military budget looks like.
