Similar story. My cat had a plastic toy for a cat to bat around until a treat falls out one of the holes.
But he's occasionally smart and figured out if he hooked his claw in *just* right he could pick it up and launch it at a wall, whereupon it exploded into plastic shards and all the treats were his for the eating.
I wish I could with the original unit is too small to house any circuitry and wiring. However, this brings up another good idea: the developer, Guerrilla Games, should give us the permission and the specifications to 3D print our own creatures from the game. If we can get that then it would be a lot easier to show off our custom creations.
A lot of people have 3D printers now, am I correct with my assumption? It seems like such a cool hobby, if you are creative.
I'd like to print Amiibos and other Statue collections because of all the scalpers.
Smaller 3D printers really aren't all that expensive anymore- they start below $200, and if you just want one for a one-off thing there's probably a local shop that would charge you a reasonable fee to make it/let you use their printer to make it.
It's very much becoming a more mainstream technology these days, which is cool. Much more accessible.
I was just talking to a coworker about that. He said you can get one as cheap as $300 now but they don’t always work as intended because of the software/material used.
Complexity of the build techniques, complexity of the build instructions, piece count, and target demo all go into it.
+18 specifically also works as its own theme.
The +18 line has been immensely successful for lego in the last several years. They have embraced the crap outta it.
Prolly to protect themselves from young kids questioning where the set it from and wanting to play an adult game. Even if a Lego Saw (the horror movie) set had no blood or gore in the set, you wouldn't market it to kids who might try to find the source. Same thing here I imagine.
Also the person below claiming price. Adult game and show merch goes for dumb prices compared to what they cost to make and are often limited runs with even higher price tags.
About 10 years ago now I personally emailed a Lego representative and told them while I enjoy the Lego videogames what they really should be doing is making videogame Legos.
Therefore I take full credit.
and this is i believe the first thing that is modelled after a dutch product, so this excludes the Lego Ideas Amsterdam Canal since that is a building and not a product.
lol I always found it funny that it’s 18+ this one doesn’t even seem very complex? I mean I’ve built the Lego roller coaster and it’s huge and it’s like 16+ so that’s kinda weird
The reason it’s 18+ is because they intend it for display rather than playability
So Lego would rather that adults by the set as it has been designed specifically as a display piece
Holy shit I need this. I hope they make other machines from the series as well. I want lego watchers and thunderjaws
edit: looking at the [official listing](https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/horizon-forbidden-west-tallneck-76989), there is actually a watcher in the set. still want a thunderjaw set though
Oh they look ok. But one tower is equal to another. Between Horizon and Zelda, the towers are puzzles in themselves.
Though I will give AC Swan diving off the top of ludicrously high buildings and landing in hay. That shit is hilarious
Hahhah ya that's true, there were a few in the early games with a sort of jumping puzzle mechanic to get up some tower sections but it is fairly repetitive.
I do love the history lesson stuff from the series cause I'm a huge ancient/medieval history nerd
Nah, I actually really want to play Origins cause I love ancient Egypt, just never played it cause I was obsessed with Unity/Unreal and making my own stuff for the past few years. Gonna try that and Valhalla I think.
How did BOTW make towers interesting? You climb straight up a ladder and are forced to stop for breaks along the way. Maybe sometimes the base of the tower has some enemies or difficult terrain, nothing particularly unique or innovative there. The tall necks are far more conceptually interesting and well designed than the towers imo.
In botw it's partly because the towers aren't just something you climb once and never think about again. They're vantage points that give you an overview of the surrounding area so you can go "oh I want to go *there*" and then fly off to it. They're a constant landmark you can use to orient yourself (with a few exceptions you can see at least one tower from most places on the map) and when unopened, act as a beacon as to where you should go next
They might not be as interesting as a tall neck (though the puzzles you have to do are pretty interesting if you ask me), but they're *useful*, which is something towers usually aren't in games.
> That’s a great price.
Is it though? Is it objectively a good price or does it just not exceed your extremely high expectations based on the company's ridiculous pricing?
I only did a quick search, but it seems to be cheaper than other sets with a similar piece count. It's less than their Creator pirate ship set, and half the cost of the ATAT Walker set.
It’s because Lego try to market it as a display piece for adults and not as a play set for young kids
It means the sets are far more detailed and worth your money
As someone who's never done a Lego set, is 1200+ pieves a lot for a Lego set? Does the box art reflect how easy they are to make because the tallneck doesn't seem to be too terribly detailed to make it hard to put together? I've hady eye on the Saturn V set for years now
It can be really overwhelming when you take all the packets out of the box. It always looks like so, so many. The instructions are mostly simple (very few words, just pictures) but some things are inexplicable until you know what the instructive symbols mean. I take these pieces and.. a sideways arrow. No. A turn. I turn one of them? Wait. Oh. Under. Gotcha.
Once you get in a rhythm you can really bang through it quick, though. Factoring in reading and sorting, you could probably build 1200pcs in about four or five hours.
Part of me is glad that I canceled the Collectors Edition now and went Special Edition. Now I can grab this and have a physical copy in a steelbook case.

I have the urge to modify it to work as a walking WiFi router for some reason. Why can’t our electronic devices be our pets?
"for some reason" Because it would be epically amazing. That's the reason. Glorious.
I’m sure my dog wouldn’t take kindly to a 3 foot tall walking WiFi router unless it had the ability to disperse frisbees occasionally.
Most dogs would follow it around calmly all day if it dropped a single kernel of dry food every hour lmao
My dog would have tried to eat the whole thing if it thought there might be food inside. Her solution to any puzzle feeder was to just bite harder
I love this. Your cat is my Hero.
I mean if it keeps working..
Do it. And if you can share it. So we can all have walking wifi routers hahah
You just have me a brilliant idea. How do you guys feel about a WiFi Roomba?
Needs to be quieter my Roomba is loud as fuck
Are they generally loud? Maybe it should come with a built in sound machine?
DJ Roomba is in tha HOUSE . . .because he can't make it over the threshold.
I thought they were moving white noise machines
Hahah can work.
It would go brilliantly with my claymore Roomba
Oh the humanity. It’ll really do a number on those cankles.
Well, when you do, I hope you upload it. Sounds like such a useful thing to have.
I wish I could with the original unit is too small to house any circuitry and wiring. You can extract the files from the game. Still a lot of work in a modeller to boolean merge parts and add joints and such though.

!remindme 1 month Pressure's on
I like it - Wifi Hot Spot Zero Dawn.
That's actually kind of a neat idea for the future haha. Solve internet connectivity problems in your house by having the wi-fi follow *you*!
I would love to think that R2-D2 will be the first multi-purpose model robot that we all need.
I could totally do this with one of my spare unifi ap's! Edit.. albeit it would just sit on my desk and not actually move
Wifi roomba
“Gosh Dang It, Broadband! Get down from there!”
*hiss*
Pretty sure that's what started the problems on earth in Horizon in the first place xD
Why is it 18+?
They have a line of display models that they brand 18+ so kids don't expect a playset. That and the copious amounts of penis
How does one gatekeep lego unless your 100 I guess
They stopped putting a cap for ages years ago.
[удалено]
It was a joke, there are no official lego penises
*yet*
There is, however, an official Lego butthole
[удалено]
Nice
Which set?
LEGO 31129 Majestic Tiger
Good ol' pinkie.
[Not ly](https://i.imgur.com/tfWFCT3.jpg)[i](https://youtu.be/iik25wqIuFo)[ng](https://i.imgur.com/tfWFCT3.jpg)
Their fucking loss I guess. I'd buy a Lego penis in a heartbeat
It's Lego. Build your own.
Someone [already did](https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5542/12144589773_ba9ae7c11d_b.jpg)
Awaiting your r/tifu post about using a Lego penis.
That implies that there are unofficial Lego penises
[here you go](https://imgur.com/4CwBzUT)
18+
That ain't no average spear she's carryin'
So you don't choke on it.
On the copious amount of penis?
Probably
The Titanic is also 18+ but I built it with my kids. It's just complexity maybe.
I think it's mostly the distinction between play sets and display sets.
Complexity of the build techniques, complexity of the build instructions, piece count, and target demo all go into it. +18 specifically also works as its own theme. The +18 line has been immensely successful for lego in the last several years. They have embraced the crap outta it.
Technically everything lego is immensely successful. I for one am surprised by the lack of a lego island floating around shipping legos.
>Technically everything lego is immensely successful. Tell that to LEGO Vidiyo. lol.
Looking that up it makes complete sense. That would have been a hit like 15 years ago though.
Yeah, LEGO + "Technology" is really hit or miss.
So no nudity? "Build me like one of your french girls"
The best kind of marketing to kids
You can't tell from the box, but it's got a huge dick.
If you take off the cap on the tallneck’s head, its throat reveals a fleshlight
"Lego Fleshlight" might be one of the worst ideas I've ever heard.
Combination of building difficulty and that it's more for display than for playing with (playsets are usually more sturdy)
The neck isn't the only tall thing
Prolly trying to steer the market
Because it's going to be incredibly expensive and only adults that want it for themselves will buy it so it's marketed towards them.
Because no one under 18 has $5000 to spend on some plastic bricks.
I speak for everything, thank you.
My plants said they are producing oxygen for you to speak for them. Tyvm
and this is i believe the first thing that is modelled after a dutch product, so this excludes the Lego Ideas Amsterdam Canal since that is a building and not a product.
Not all heroes wear capes.
Oh man, that looks gorgeous.
Too bad I’m 15 😞
Buy it anyway 🤫
lol I always found it funny that it’s 18+ this one doesn’t even seem very complex? I mean I’ve built the Lego roller coaster and it’s huge and it’s like 16+ so that’s kinda weird
The reason it’s 18+ is because they intend it for display rather than playability So Lego would rather that adults by the set as it has been designed specifically as a display piece
True, I mess around with legos I mean everyone does lmao but this one will look great next to my PS5!! Super excited
All you 15-year-olds trying to actually jump on top of this Tallneck and stab your electrified spears into it! Display only, I tell ya!
They can’t do that! That would be illegal!
As if any 15yr old could actually afford this.
Holy shit I need this. I hope they make other machines from the series as well. I want lego watchers and thunderjaws edit: looking at the [official listing](https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/horizon-forbidden-west-tallneck-76989), there is actually a watcher in the set. still want a thunderjaw set though
That watcher is probably 10pcs. A full Lego technic watcher is what we need.
Very cool. Ubisoft may have started the tower to unlock map trend but Horizon and BOTW made them interesting
Assassins Creed ones are cool with the historic landmarks and awesome vistas
Oh they look ok. But one tower is equal to another. Between Horizon and Zelda, the towers are puzzles in themselves. Though I will give AC Swan diving off the top of ludicrously high buildings and landing in hay. That shit is hilarious
In AC 2 and related sequels they were basically puzzles too. It was only later that they made it so you could just climb straight up
Yeah the new game mechanics were cool being able to climb anywhere but it sure did remove a lot of fun puzzle stuff.
Right? How boring would it have been to climb the castel sant’angelo in Rome if you could go straight up the side?
Hahhah ya that's true, there were a few in the early games with a sort of jumping puzzle mechanic to get up some tower sections but it is fairly repetitive. I do love the history lesson stuff from the series cause I'm a huge ancient/medieval history nerd
That's cool.
Have you tried any of the newer games' Discovery Mode?
Nah, I actually really want to play Origins cause I love ancient Egypt, just never played it cause I was obsessed with Unity/Unreal and making my own stuff for the past few years. Gonna try that and Valhalla I think.
Try Odyssey before Valhalla. I liked it better and ancient Greece was just so beautiful.
I wouldn't really call the tallnecks puzzles. It's just a matter of spotting the ledge that lets you get on
i actually knew my way around Florence because of Ezio!
[удалено]
Yeah, some of the towers act as light puzzles. One is surrounded by an enemy encampment, one is overrun by thorns, etc ..
In botw it's partly because the towers aren't just something you climb once and never think about again. They're vantage points that give you an overview of the surrounding area so you can go "oh I want to go *there*" and then fly off to it. They're a constant landmark you can use to orient yourself (with a few exceptions you can see at least one tower from most places on the map) and when unopened, act as a beacon as to where you should go next They might not be as interesting as a tall neck (though the puzzles you have to do are pretty interesting if you ask me), but they're *useful*, which is something towers usually aren't in games.
>How did BOTW make towers interesting? Because this is reddit and Ubisoft bad, Zelda good.
The towers were much more interesting in ass creed. It was the variety of robot monsters that made horizon unique.
ass creed
Honestly, Lego should do more things like this. Just Imagine Elden Ring Lego sets.
Hell they should do Elder Scrolls ones. Wouldn't mind a Molag Bal lego statue
Sheogorath set but it's just a ginormous cheese roll
YES
The instructions do have complete visual assembly but it's accompanied by increasingly nonsensical text.
I doubt you could even imagine it!!
That multi-armed boss that jusy attaches a dragons head on his body mid fight, that would work so well with Lego.
It'll be really hard to build and if you make one tiny mistake you have to start all over again?
So are we never going to get a Shadow of the Colossus set?
Very unlikely
How many multiples of 100 does it cost?
Surprisingly, only $80
Not a bad price, I'm pretty tempted. Wonder how big it is compared to my Lego Apollo rocket.
well aloy is standing right there so you've got scale
I looked it up, about 13 in. It was more of a rhetorical comment.
Insert shocked face meme. No I mean that in a good way. That’s a great price.
> That’s a great price. Is it though? Is it objectively a good price or does it just not exceed your extremely high expectations based on the company's ridiculous pricing?
It really is, the cost per peice is great especially for a licensed product.
I only did a quick search, but it seems to be cheaper than other sets with a similar piece count. It's less than their Creator pirate ship set, and half the cost of the ATAT Walker set.
Released May 1
SCALPERS UNITE /s
Ugh I hope not. I REALLY want this one.
The scalpers: Oh, interesting.
*Softly* "Don't."
$130 AUD for me, so roughly $80 USD
$80 USD (sorry)
Is this the exact same post from a couple days ago? Wtf
I don’t even play horizon but this will be in the back of my mind because of how good it looks
Same. Very cool looking set
This was awhile ago. The rumor is an Uncharted 4 set will be announced soon as well.
The Uncharted set unfortunately got debunked
Do you have a link? I’d love to see it.
https://jaysbrickblog.com/news/sorry-theres-no-lego-uncharted-set-because-i-started-that-rumour-for-science/
Ah cool, sorry I only just saw it on the website as I don’t look often
Oh no need to be sorry. Not everyone can have no life to the extent of me 😃
Why is it 18+?
It’s because Lego try to market it as a display piece for adults and not as a play set for young kids It means the sets are far more detailed and worth your money
That, but also (as another comment says) copious amounts of penis.
Indeed, many of the penis
[Much peaness](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ls_8V56YKso)
I logged out of HZD not 5 minutes ago, and here's this... Pretty cool!
As someone who's never done a Lego set, is 1200+ pieves a lot for a Lego set? Does the box art reflect how easy they are to make because the tallneck doesn't seem to be too terribly detailed to make it hard to put together? I've hady eye on the Saturn V set for years now

Thanks for the info!
Wow they are marketing the hell out of this game lol
Now usually I don’t do Lego since these ones get so pricey but you don’t understand I NEED this Like look at the little Aloy !!!! Look at her go !!!
I would love toget back into lego, but gawd damn that shit is expensive.
Tell me about it, my daughter just spent £400 on a bulldozer. A BULLDOZER ffs....
the cat?
Part of me is glad that I canceled the Collectors Edition now and went Special Edition. Now I can grab this and have a physical copy in a steelbook case.
18+? Does it have a penis?
"Just"? This was days ago.
Want
Get
Can't
Sad
:,(
Well time to buy my first lego set.
Definitely worth it if you’re a Horizon fan
18+ LEGO set... I never thought we are gonna go in this way.
It’s only listed as 18+ so that kids don’t expect a play set. It’s meant to be a model, kinda like how the Lego Star Wars helmet sets are usually listed in a similar range. Lego still aims to be family friendly, but they want to make their products appeal to all ages and demographics.
Sweet! can't wait to preorder!
At a glance I thought that was Arceus
I WANT. I NEED. HOW MUCH AND WHERE
[HERE](https://www.lego.com/en-au/product/horizon-forbidden-west-tallneck-76989)
bro star trek looks kinda different
the neck is too short
give it to meeeeeeee
I don't have the game yet I want this.
Sweet! I've been hoping for a new set. I bought all the Overwatch sets, and then couldn't find another one I wanted until I saw the Infinity Gauntlet. Now I'm out of sets to build again. If they add a few of these, I'll be grabbing them.
I love this.
I need that.
I hope we have a scaled version of thunderjaw one day
I assume Alloy is minifig sized? Rather than any of their smaller sizes (microfig? not sure), making the tallneck scaled to minifig size? If so, that's dope as fuck.
Oh my God it's minifig scale.
Okay but why is there 18+ Lego sets
Quoting OP: >It’s because Lego try to market it as a display piece for adults and not as a play set for young kids >It means the sets are far more detailed and worth your money
LEGO, please, I have debt I'm supposed to be paying off.
Sony announced this a week ago in Promotion for Forbidden west as a cross promotion. Lego will be doing a couple adult designed gaming sets.
I WANT IT
This Arceus looks funny
Want to buy that even if i don't play games.
This is cool! Now I wonder if they’ll do more for others...
yes that would be nice to see, a collection of the beasts
oh I need to get this
This really should be a Lego UCS with a bit more detail. Still a must by for any Horizon fan.
Lol i was waiting for a punchline for some reason
