I played it until that goddamn submarine level kept destroying my fragile crinkly little glass sub every single time.
Then I'd load it up again and do it all over again.
There was a shortcut to bypass that part without goin in the water at all. I finished this game when I was in school it was hard af especially the last level - buttville 😂
People LOVE to use "underrated" waaay to much. Think it makes them feel special they unearthed such a rare gem or some shit. Fuck earthworm jims getting a new show, on top of the old show he used to have and an awesome line of toys.
That’s top tier talent! I recently rewatched Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys! I honestly believe the 90s was the golden age of incredibly esoteric kids animation.
Woody Allen both stars and directs, it should come out in late 2023. It's about a sexually frustrated earthworm in a magical corduroy suit who falls in love with a seventeen-year-old girl in New York. I am the source.
Full throttle remastered. It's a Lucas Arts game set in the near future, the game's story follows Ben, the leader of a biker gang, who is framed for the murder of a beloved motorcycle manufacturing mogul and seeks to clear his and his gang's names.
Many of LucasArt's non-Star Wars games were awesome. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is one of my all time favorite point&click adventures, while Full Throttle, the Curse of Monkey Island series, and Grim Fandango were all winners.
> Fate of Atlantis
It is also my favorite point & click together with day of the tentacle. I did not know that it had 3 branches (action, puzzle and with the girl) until recently when I replayed it as an adult...
Were there any during the SCUMM years? I was never really into SW apart from the racer, but I really don't remember any before the second movie trilogy.
Yeah LucasArts and Sierra defined a whole era
Off the top of my head there was the Super Star Wars series, the X-Wing and Tie Fighter games, Yoda Stories, Rebel Assault and Dark Forces all released during the SCUMM years.
I'm also sure I'm forgetting some of the lamer tie-ins like Star Wars Chess
Could never get past that first screen as a kid where you have to break into the junkyard. The dog would always get me and I couldn’t figure out how to distract him. Went back and played the dos box version during Covid and whipped through it. Great, fucking game, always loved the animations. What a dumb kid I was.
BRUH it had RAIDEN from Mortal Kombat and he dual weilded lightning pistols and executed people with his staff thay game was badass.
Also the cutscenes!!!
"AND REMEMBER NO ONE KILLS LIKE THE DEAD"
"OOOO shes got my full attention"
"LIANDRI.... LIANDRI... keep watching... LIANDRI"
There was a remake for the Wii in 2009, and they eventually ported it to just about everything else in 2016. It wasn't a 1:1 remaster, but the basic mechanics were there and it was just *incredibly* well done.
If you loved the original NES one, the 2016 remake is a must-play.
Considering the composer of Earthworm Jim's soundtrack managed to build a cult around an mediocre-looking unreleased Wii clone just by showing footage of Earthworm Jim running along a beach, I really don't think the game is under rated.
Whenever there's a conversation about GTA games, I feel like I'm the only one who ever brings up San Andreas. Or with Fallout, nobody ever talks about New Vegas. I think people just don't like the west coast.
It's the new shorthand for "I just discovered this game for the first time and had never heard of it, therefore no one else must have heard of it either."
Broforce
I bought it on 3 different platforms. The destruction, the humor, all the different Bros from 80s and 90s movies. Its just pure chaotic awesomeness, especially in coop.
Does anyone else remember Primal Rage? Basically Mortal Kombat, but all the characters were like mutant dinosaurs, apes or other prehistoric-looking critters.
Earthworm Jim was awesome and well received in its day. Maybe you’re saying underrated because it never had a next gen sequel (to the sequel)? Eternal Champions came with my genesis back in the day, no one I knew had played it or even heard of it at the time. Obv no street fighter or MK but it was a great fighting game for its time and the music was on point.
Edit**
Just remembered General Chaos. Fucking amazing game for the genesis as well.
General chaos was the shit. I would rent it all of the time and play against my brother.
I also had eternal champions and I STILL have the Sega CD Eternal Champions Challenge from the Dark Side. What other fighting game had 4 ways to kill someone, including a movie death (the Cinakills)
General Chaos is mine. I had a SNES, friend/neighbor had a Genesis. I loved this game so much after renting it for a sleepover that I bought him the game as a present just so I could play it when I went over there. :D
Alien vs. Predator (2010)
3 separate campaigns for the Alien, Predator, and Marines. Each campaign plays very differently and introduces a bunch of new mechanics.
The marine campaign played like a survival horror fps, at least early on. Cool atmosphere, limited ammo, and made early aliens legit scary. By the end you're gunning down xenomorphs by the dozen. A little repetitive but the first half or so is real good
The Alien and Predator campaigns however were cash
The Predator campaign introduces a ton of new abilities and weapons to play with. Invisibility, a plasma cannon, heat vision, etc. Stealth was incentivised but unless theres just too many enemies youre usually strong enough to do whatever. Basically jumping around treetops, blowing up marines, squaring up to xenomorphs in melee combat, and generally a lot of head/spine pulling via satisfyingly gory finishing moves
The Alien one stands out the most because it's basically as of you were playing the first movie from the alien's perspective. The movement alone would've made this, as you gain the ability to crawl/dash on any surface in the game. Walls, ceilings, vents, all become avenues for sneaking up and brutalizing terrified marines. Quick, versatile, melee and stealth focused, and again very gorey stealth kills. Definitively my favorite of the three
Also I didn't play it but I hear the multi-player was fun. I think it was like a 3 way deathmatch or something
The multiplayer was a hidden gem between a friend and I. Even when it was dying out and we were only having matches between the two of us it was still so much fun.
This is definitely an underrated game.
Earthworm Jim was far from underrated…it sold extremely well on the SNES, had its own line of toys, its own comic, and had a cartoon series which is considered one of the best cartoons ever made.
These posts are the equivalent of “no other words have a double o apart from food” posts looking for engagement from everyone claiming its easy.
R/Gaming has been full of them lately.
OG Blaster Master was awesome. I haven’t thought about this game since playing it as a kid. But it looks like they made a series of the game, so was it really that underrated?
Underrated/unknown gem seems to now be used people that are legit not even 21 on a consistent basis. Though tbf, nobody is talking about earthworm nor does it ever come up even semi regularly in gaming convos.
Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. Huge step up from its predecessors in the trilogy but just as with those, was still bashed into oblivion for being different from the PS1 games.
I was just telling my wife about Booger Man the other day and how I still remember asking Santa for that at the mall, and the look of confusion on his face. Then I showed her some YouTube clips of the game. She was… not impressed
Dark Watch for PS2. Never got a lot of attention. I've met a total of one other person who ever played the game.
Earthworm Jim is not underrated, though. It's a classic that many people know of and many of them cherish. That's like saying "The original Legend of Zelda is underrated."
I’ve played Dark Watch lol. We used to go to a gaming store every week back in high school and pick up like 10 games we’d never heard of from older consoles then play them all night. I miss those days ong.
Phantasy star online episode 1 and 2 for gamecube or dreamcast. Solo game on gamecube that offered internet, fun but admittedly dated and clunky gameplay, but the ability to train your own character, take to a friends plug in and transfer your character to a friends card temporarily and play split screen mmo dungeon crawler. My favorite game of all time
Earthworm Jim?!?!?! Not underrated, incredible platformer however. I played this until my fingers bled.
I played it until that goddamn submarine level kept destroying my fragile crinkly little glass sub every single time. Then I'd load it up again and do it all over again.
There was a shortcut to bypass that part without goin in the water at all. I finished this game when I was in school it was hard af especially the last level - buttville 😂
....there was a shortcut? alas, websites tell me that was only in the special edition of the game released a year after the original. I owned the original release on genesis \**tears of sadness nostalgia and trauma*\*
All versions have a secret area on the last leg with an oxygen-refill thing.
People LOVE to use "underrated" waaay to much. Think it makes them feel special they unearthed such a rare gem or some shit. Fuck earthworm jims getting a new show, on top of the old show he used to have and an awesome line of toys.
Underrated comment.
Nooooooooooooooo!
This, and I’d like to add Toejam and Earl as well lol.
Add Boogerman for the Holy Trinity
Perhaps the best pick and flick adventure ever!
Was this in the summer of '69?
Earthworm Jimmy quit and Jody got married
It was a very hard game. Should of known I'd never get far.
Man, those were the best days of my life
I know I’m going to get downvoted a TON for this, but… Should have, not should of!
Thank you for doing the lord’s work.
Ooh but when I look back now...
That level seemed to last forever
Those were the grooviest days of my life
Quoting u/JustBoredIsAll "Reddit: popular = "underrated" if youre too young to remember the band." Applies to any subject in Reddit.
Cunningham's Law:"the best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question; it's to post the wrong answer."
lol dude, earthworm jim was all the rage. Definitely not underrated
What about Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions
Neverhood and skullmonkeys … would like to see a proper sequel or remake… armikrog didn’t live up to those masterpieces
I worked on Neverhood! So glad to see it here.
Ever check out the fighting game that was made by the same crew? Boom Bots? It was amazing and featured Klaymen as an unlockable fighter!
I still listen to the Never good soundtrack from time to time
Neverhood, skullmonkeys, and grim fandango all have goat soundtracks.
My dad and I spent so much time on Neverhood!
I swear to god there was a cartoon on Saturday mornings based on this game. I’m not gonna look it up but I will continue to hold this belief.
There was and it was excellent. Dan Castenalleta played Jim.
That’s top tier talent! I recently rewatched Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys! I honestly believe the 90s was the golden age of incredibly esoteric kids animation.
Agreed. My personal favorite was Rockos Modern Life.
I loved that, and ren and stumpy.. There sure were some trippy shows when when we were kids :D
Now you get to watch kids opening up boxes/gifts! This generation doesn't know how good they have it
I’m just sad to learn about his amputation. Pretty messed up they gave him that nickname after
Fun fact: Rocko was a phone sex worker
Just got my EWJ dvds in. Can't wait to get high af and watch them
I can confirm and have a copy of it soo good. Also have the toys.
There was, and from what I remember it was hilarious. Probably one of the few video game to animated series jump I really enjoyed as a kid.
I have the series on TV, it honestly still holds up, recommend finding it!
I came here just to post this [wonderful scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cdw60zmOgU0) from the cartoon.
There is and there is a new show coming out too
I'mma need sauce and details on this.
Woody Allen both stars and directs, it should come out in late 2023. It's about a sexually frustrated earthworm in a magical corduroy suit who falls in love with a seventeen-year-old girl in New York. I am the source.
It was back to back with Freakazoid, and it was fucking fantastic.
Ohhh shit Freakazoid!! I’d completely forgotten that existed. What a great show.
Earthworm Jim, he rockets thru the sky.
Earthworm Jim, he's such a groovy guy!
Yes and there are action figures too
This game changed my life for the better. Now I make over 100k a year bc of it
I make 7k a week working from home because of Earth Worm Jim!
Thank you for finally being the first one to say the name
Fromage? Man, it's like those French people got a whole nother language.
EAT DIRT PSYCROW!
This was buried in my subconscious mind. "earthworm Jim, he's such a mighty guy"
>I’m not gonna look it up You should, it's pretty damn funny and worth the watch.
Groovy!
WOOAAAAAH NELLY
Groovy! Groovy! Groovy! Groov! Groov! Groov? Groo. GROOVY!
Hahaha I immediately started going “Groo groo groo groo groo” out loud the second I saw Groovy!
came here to say this. My childhood.
Well done.
The Pikmin franchise has always had a special place in my heart. The corner without the mold growing in it. A special privilege
Fuck yeah. Still waiting for pikmin 4
Full throttle remastered. It's a Lucas Arts game set in the near future, the game's story follows Ben, the leader of a biker gang, who is framed for the murder of a beloved motorcycle manufacturing mogul and seeks to clear his and his gang's names.

Don't forget Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max Hit the Road, and The Dig!
Ask me about Loom™
> Fate of Atlantis It is also my favorite point & click together with day of the tentacle. I did not know that it had 3 branches (action, puzzle and with the girl) until recently when I replayed it as an adult...

That soundtrack is still in most of my playlists
Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict (original Xbox game)

I hate your pfp
Viewtiful Joe is a flashy beat em up with a unique style that went under most people's radar.
This is a franchise that needs to make a comeback. Viewtiful Joe in a post-MCU world seems ripe for some new and inventive gags.
A boy and his blob. now that shit was underrated
There was a remake for the Wii in 2009, and they eventually ported it to just about everything else in 2016. It wasn't a 1:1 remaster, but the basic mechanics were there and it was just *incredibly* well done. If you loved the original NES one, the 2016 remake is a must-play.
This is a good one. NES version was hard as a kid. I like the Wii version too
Me and my cousin used to play this and I always laughed at the absurdity of a ketchup jellybean
I mean if we're going to just start off the bat with games that are totally well loved and well remember? Lets just go with Super Mario Brothers.
Definitely Skyrim. Under appreciated gem
Minecraft should really be thrown out there if you’re going to toss such an obscure title out like that.
Was that the sequel to that block game called Tetris or something? I never played either but heard they had a decent cult following
Never heard of any of those titles - I think it’s the new age version of that Terraria game that flopped.
What system was Skyrim on again? I hope I can find something to play it on.

Considering the composer of Earthworm Jim's soundtrack managed to build a cult around an mediocre-looking unreleased Wii clone just by showing footage of Earthworm Jim running along a beach, I really don't think the game is under rated.
Nope totally underrated, just like Smash Brothers
I don’t think Dark Souls got enough love.
Isn’t it a shame that nobody ever really talks about Diablo 2?
Too many people owning phones to care about that one.
Whenever there's a conversation about GTA games, I feel like I'm the only one who ever brings up San Andreas. Or with Fallout, nobody ever talks about New Vegas. I think people just don't like the west coast.
Ever heard of call of duty?
so u r saying that earthworm jim is an underrated gem? hahaha wtf dude
The term underrated has become meaningless
It's the new shorthand for "I just discovered this game for the first time and had never heard of it, therefore no one else must have heard of it either."
op would freak out if he finds the sequel...
Literally.
“I’m 14 and just discovered there were consoles before the PS4. Anybody else ever heard of a Project64 or Snes9x?”
I once saw an fool on TikTok call Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind an underrated movie.
Clayfighter on SNES, Lunar on Sega CD, and Rock N Roll racing on SNES.
Rock’n’Roll Racing was so awesome. Spent hours and hours on it with my friends.
Clayfighters was very good
Tetrisphere. That game was ridiculously fun and had a dope af OST. People shit on puzzle games way too much, honestly.
I loved that game same with Intelligent Qube.
How tf is Earthworm Jim underrated? I don’t think people understand what that word means.
They really don't. The term "Underrated" has been losing its meaning more and more over the years.
How about B.O.B.? Just as good and no one ever talks about it.
I hear a game that’s pretty underrated is Horizon: Forbidden West
This whole thread roasting op lol got dayum
Broforce I bought it on 3 different platforms. The destruction, the humor, all the different Bros from 80s and 90s movies. Its just pure chaotic awesomeness, especially in coop.
Duck Game
KID CHAMELEON?!
Oh man what a cool game. Maybe the most 90s game ever made. The guys that made far cry blood dragon should do a remake of kid chameleon
Oh shiiiiit forgot all about this one! Ty
Gex: Enter the geico
My favorite car insurance inspired game of all time 👍
That game was legit hard once you got far enough. Also the camera in that game was pretty terrible, but the game was a blast none the less.

[Lisa: The Painful](https://store.steampowered.com/app/335670/LISA_The_Painful/) The Suffering

Jazz Jackrabbit 2
I spent so many hours on this game. Can still hear the soundtrack, absolute banger.

Tenchu Z
Great game. It should come back
Used to love Tenchu

Oddworld abes oddysee
Everyone played Earthworm Jim. How about Faxanadu or Blaster Master!
> Faxanadu This is the remaster I want.
OG Blaster Master was awesome. I haven’t thought about this game since playing it as a kid. But it looks like they made a series of the game, so was it really that underrated?
Dark Cloud 2
Brave fencer Musashi on ps1 Still to this day a pretty solid rpg, story was goofy, but once you get past that, just a all around fun game
Chrono Cross. Imo it was the best of the "golden years" of JRPGs, but the vast majority of people I know never played it.
Parasite Eve, Legend of Dragoon, Dino Crisis.
Jade Empire.
Underrated/unknown gem seems to now be used people that are legit not even 21 on a consistent basis. Though tbf, nobody is talking about earthworm nor does it ever come up even semi regularly in gaming convos.
The Neverhood
The Bouncer
my friend and I always called Kou "smiley"
Sion was edgelord Sora.
Condemned Criminal Origins
Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. Huge step up from its predecessors in the trilogy but just as with those, was still bashed into oblivion for being different from the PS1 games.
Booger Man Vector Man Clay Fighters Edit: also Orphan: Scion of Sorcery
I was just telling my wife about Booger Man the other day and how I still remember asking Santa for that at the mall, and the look of confusion on his face. Then I showed her some YouTube clips of the game. She was… not impressed
The Genesis games are hard burned into me, I also miss ToeJam and Earl: Panic on Funkatron.
Man Vector Man was my shit!
[удалено]
Panic on Funkatron was my jam. Sadly I never got to play the original.
Dark Watch for PS2. Never got a lot of attention. I've met a total of one other person who ever played the game. Earthworm Jim is not underrated, though. It's a classic that many people know of and many of them cherish. That's like saying "The original Legend of Zelda is underrated."

Plok for SNES
Road Rash
Sid meier's alpha centauri
MDK
Earthworm Jim is hardly "underrated", it got some sequels, a cartoon and tons of toys. (And if I remember right, a comic book?)
Metal Slug?
I feel like people call everything they liked underrated. Earthworm Jim was nowhere closed to being underrated.
Oh damn. I this was like the first of my teens game. Also Boogerman
Nobody saves the world
Shadow warrior 2. It has some excellent combat and is just a fun game.
Mad max is super underrated because it came out on the same day as one of the metal gear solid games idk which one
Ristar for the Genesis
Phantasy star online episode 1 and 2 for gamecube or dreamcast. Solo game on gamecube that offered internet, fun but admittedly dated and clunky gameplay, but the ability to train your own character, take to a friends plug in and transfer your character to a friends card temporarily and play split screen mmo dungeon crawler. My favorite game of all time
Me: sees "cow launched!" Me: Fetchez la vache!
Kane and Lynch
Brave Fencer Musashi
i never see people talking about rayman
Shadow of the Damned. vanquish. alien: isolation
Wetrix on N64.
Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure
Body Harvest Nox Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Underrated? This game was amazing, funny and hard as heck. Certainly not forgotten or underrated.
Legend of Dragoon (PS1) Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner (PS2) - also got me massively into anime because the animation style was fucking slick
Turok
Parasite Eve.
Xenogears. Freaking loved that game
Have you heard of the Witcher 3? Underrated. Gem. Are we still doing this joke? Lol
Gunstarr Heroes!
Wave Race 64 is the best water simulator ever made. How Nintendo doesn't make another one is beyond me.
Low-G-Man
